Lady Who Has Not Entered Plane Before Gets Free Return Ticket From Man

Chioma Udogu Mbamalu a Facebook user has landed herself a return ticket to fly to any part of Nigeria by a good Samaritan who saw Chioma's post on Facebook, stating that she has never traveled by air since she was born.

Her story started when she saw the incredible  comedian and internet sensation Emmanuella, in a plane and she jokingly  wrote on her page that she has not traveled by Air plane before.

Little did she know that her story has just begun as one Mr. Chukwuemeka Okorie saw Chioma's comment and then offered her a free return ticket for her to experience how it feels to fly at no cost to her.

Chioma has since traveled with the free offer and had returned to Lagos.

Thanks to Mr. Chukwuemeka Okorie.

Prince Harry Engaged To Meghan Markle The Suits Actress

Britain's Prince Harry is engaged to his US partner Meghan Markle, his father Prince Charles has announced. The wedding is due to take place in the spring of 2018 and the couple are to live in Kensington Palace.

"Thrilled, over the moon," Harry remarked as the couple posed for photographs in the grounds of Kensington Palace where they will live in a cottage. Markle's three-stone engagement ring was designed by Harry with a diamond from Botswana and two diamonds taken from the personal collection of his late mother Princess Diana.

Clarence House — the residence of Prince Harry's father Prince Charles — released a statement on Monday announcing the engagement.

"His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle," the statement read.

It said the couple had become engaged earlier this month. The wedding will take place next spring, and the couple are to live in Nottingham Cottage in Kensington Palace.

Prince Harry tweeted thanks to those who wished the couple well.

Speculation had been rife that 33-year-old Harry would propose to the 36-year-old divorcee Markle, who is best known for her role in the legal drama series "Suits." The couple have been together since June 2016.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Harry's older brother Prince William and Kate Middleton, congratulated the couple. "We are very excited for Harry and Meghan. It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together," Clarence House said in a tweet.



Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, who recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, also said they're "delighted" for the couple.

Harry is Queen Elizabeth's grandson and fifth-in-line to the British throne.

Markle's parents Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland said in a statement: "We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry. Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person." Markle, an Emmy-award winning lighting director, is of Dutch, English, Irish and Scottish descent, while his wife of African-American heritage works as a psychotherapist and yoga instructor. 

Harry spent 10 years in the army and has this year, with his elder brother William, promoted mental health strategies for armed forces in a joint initiative between their Royal Foundation and the Ministry of Defense.

The Countdown to the expiration of the 21 day -ultimatum and grace granted by Ondo State Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, for armed youths to surrender their arms paid off on Monday as great number of the militants at Ajapa Community in Ese-Odo Local Government Area, submitted  their arms and ammunition in readiness to embrace peace.

Africa Championships logo unveiled at Gov Wike Challenge Cup

The Minister of Sports, Barrister Solomon Dalung on Monday unveiled the logo for the forthcoming 2018 Africa Wrestling Championships at the opening ceremony of the Governor Wike National Wrestling Championships.

Dalung commended Governor Wike for investing in sports as well as creating an enabling environment for Nigeria wrestlers to showcase their hidden talent.
The minister noted that sports is the second largest employer of labour in the country, urging other governors to follow the footstep of Rivers State Governor.

Dalung said sports has no political party and no one can be faked by any individual. "We will partner with anybody who wants to sponsor sports, we are open friendship" he said.
"Believe me it's only in sports you can't fake things".

The ceremony was held at Alfred Diete-Spiff Civic Centre, Port Harcourt.
In his address, Governor Wike commended Dalung on his stand on sports development in Nigeria.
He said Dalung has been outstanding since he came into office as the minister of Sports. "I promise to always support the Nigeria Wrestling Federation. I assure that the African Championships will be a success"

Igali said "We are working to ensure that these wrestlers also make a remarkable impact and win as many medals. 18 coaches will be duly selected to coach the wrestlers and make us proud".

"From this tournament we would select 90 wrestlers to represent the country in February at the African Championships.
Rivers State Government will host the 2018 African Wrestling Championships in February".

Present at the ceremony were: Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, Daniel Igali, the president Nigeria Wrestling Federation. Others were George Gould, the president Liberia Wrestling Federation and former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo.

Rakiya Musa Birnin Tudu Slapped Twice By LG Chairman In Kebbi

Below is an account of how a Local Government chairman slapped and assaulted a female councilor in Kebbi State; for bringing to the attention of the Chairman complaints from her constituency. 

A female councilor in Fakai local government area of Kebbi, Rakiya Musa Birnin Tudu was twice slapped by her chairman for telling him the complaints of constituents and local government workers.

The councilor, in an interview with BBC Hausa service on Monday and monitored by DAILY NIGERIAN in Abuja, said the chairman is owing workers four months' salary, with complaints coming from all quarters over the way he solitarily performs the affairs of the local government.

She said as a result of the myriads of these problems, which also saw elected councilors confined to within spectators position, a council meeting was summoned where she voiced these grievances to the chairman.

"It was during a council meeting convened over the different problems afflicting the constituents in the local government. We were discussing on these issues and we also asked him whether we offended him because of the way he has not been involving us in the affairs of the local government.

"

In this local government, we have reached 4 months without salary. People are complaining of how they have been disengaged from their works. Some of them complain of cut in their salaries. All these were tabled and the chairman was urged to act," she said.

Then it was Mrs Birnin Tudu's turnto speak, as the meeting allows everyone to talk. "I told him that being close to our constituents we hear a lot of complaints first hand. And as the chairman, he cannot get to hear some of these complaints and misdemeanors, but we hear everything and we are not happy.

"I told him we are elected councilors but we have been relegated in running the affairs of the local government. Some directors have stopped coming to work. I urged him to please do something and pay workers their salaries."

Soon after rounding off her submissions, the female council said "as the secretary was talking, he (the chairman) stepped out of his seat and came towards me. He was even asked by the secretary of where he is going, but he replied that he was going to sit.

"I was not expecting anything when he severely slapped me twice. Some councilors later prevailed upon him. He even boasted that a councilor was never slapped in the history of the local government, but he had done so, moreso on an elected female councilor.

"He then went out to the charged crowd, who equally were making comments on me and making threats because of my stance. He calmed them down with the news of what he did to me."

Asked on her response, she said he decided to follow the chain of command that is inherent in politics by reporting it to their leaders.

She said she expects the leaders and the APC to do justice to her, as she has been "abused and embarrassed," by the chairman.
