Richmond Fed is hiring a Research Assistant for the Quantitative Supervision & Research Unit in Charlotte, NC.

Essential Job Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Performs economic, financial, econometric, and statistical analyses; organizes data for analysis and writes computer codes using mathematical and statistical software such as Matlab, SAS, and Stata. If required, learns additional software packages and database systems. 
  • Co-authors analytical work with economists and analysts. 
  • Performs more general research and analysis on topics related to the economy, financial markets, banking and bank supervision. 
  • Gathers data and writes documentation of data sources and statistical tests that have been performed on the data.

Metropolitan Policy Program Research Assistant - Brookings

The Research Assistant provides research assistance and administrative support in the Metropolitan Policy Program at Brookings. Conducts high-quality research on public policy issues; organizes and analyzes large datasets; identifies appropriate data sources and responds to statistical/analytical queries from senior research staff; prepares tables, maps, graphics, and presentations on Program's research findings; provides literature reviews and background memoranda. The scope of research includes race, class and social inequality, urban issues and economics; As needed, the Research Assistant also oversees travel and event logistics, constituent list management, expense reimbursements, and other administrative duties.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Working with a variety of large-scale public- and private-sector databases to construct and manage data files; downloading and processing data as they become available, using major statistical software packages such as SAS and Python.
  • Assembling and analyzing detailed geographically-based data on metropolitan demographic, economic, social, and physical attributes.
  • Compiling and summarizing data and policy trends for public presentations.
  • Assists in drafting research reports, including developing data charts, graphs, tables, and GIS maps.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in economics, public policy, or other related field required. At least one year work experience in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred: Experience managing and manipulating multiple, large-scale datasets and delivering quality research preference.
