Lesbian Couple Wed In US; Photos Go Viral

Read the story of a lesbian couple that just wedded in the United States of America; their photos has become an internet sensation.

Chantel Nicole Beverly, 30, a 5th Grade Teacher and Shavonia Peterson, 33, Exceptional Education Teacher walked down the aisle on April 7, at The Yacht Club, Marina Shores Virginia Beach, VA

"I walked into a club one summer night in 2011, she had no idea she'd find the love of her life, Shavonia, on the dance floor. But that's exactly what happened. Seven years later they tied the knot and their gorgeous nuptials will move you," said Chantel.
"Being a bride felt like I was on cloud 9," admitted Chantel. "After I got past the nervousness part, it was the best feeling in the world. I felt so beautiful and so loved. There were a few overwhelming moments but for the most part, it was wonderful."

It took awhile for me to find 'the one,'" said Chantel.
"Shavonia is very interesting. She's actually the opposite of me. I'm more optimistic and she's more realistic. I'm very outgoing and she's more reserved. She's very organized and I could be all over the place sometimes. However, she's my perfect match. She's loving, caring and will do anything for those she holds near and dear to her heart. She is the yin to my yang.
Chantel reveals that there were no frills about how Shavonia proposed, and that's what made it sweeter.

"It was a very simple proposal. Nothing fancy at all. On Thursday, December 15, 2011 she came in the house after working and was acting weird. She grabbed my hand and was shaking nervously and then got down on one knee and told me how much she loved me and how much I have inspired her and asked me to marry her."

"My wife and I met at an LGBT club named, Colors. I can remember it like it was yesterday." said Shavonia.

"It was a hot summer night on Saturday, July 23, 2011. It was interesting because I had not gone there in years and I randomly decided to go with a friend that night. I was at the bar and I saw her from across the room.

I was attracted to her instantly and repeatedly glanced in her direction. I felt our eyes meet one another and she came over to me. She asked, 'What you doing up in here, are you a lesbian?'

She thought I was straight and didn't believe me. That night we danced the night away and exchanged numbers after the let out. She called me and we talked on the phone for hours like we were teenagers. The following week we went on a date and the rest was history. We were inseparable. I chose to make Chantel my wife because she is truly the most selfless and kind-hearted person I know," said Shavonia of her bride.

"She loves with her whole heart. She's loyal to all of her friends and family. She motivates me and inspires me to be the best woman I can be. I love how loving, patient and selfless Chantel is. I love how she stays firm in what she believes in. Whatever Chantel wants, she lets nothing stand in her way of getting it. She has literally made me a better woman."

This new invasion is coming just two days after the murdering of two Catholic priests and 17 Parishioners in Mbalom, Gwer Local Government Area, and barely 24 hours after the murder of 37 persons in Guma on Wednesday.

The leader of the community in the area, Chief Joseph Anawah, disclosed to Daily Sun that the attackers invaded the area around 12:22am while the people were still asleep. He said the victims were among those accomodated in African Church and LGEA Primary School, Mondo, after they were displaced from their homes by suspected herdsmen.

Governor Ambode's Wife Bolanle Marks This Year World Malaria Day In Makoko Slum

Governor Ambode's Wife Bolanle Marks This Year World Malaria Day In Makoko Slum

Mrs Bolanle Ambode, Wife of the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwumi Ambode, has urged Lagosians and Nigerians in general, to be more concerned with the approach of preventing rather than curing malaria infections.

The Governor's wife made the disclosure in Oregun in Ikeja, Lagos, when her pet project, Hope for Women in Nigeria Initiative (HOFOWEM), distributed over 3000 insecticide-treated nets, at Makoko community, Yaba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), as part of activities to mark 2018 World Malaria Day.

Mrs Ambode said; "We cannot fold our arms and allow malaria to continue to ravage our society. This epidemic has claimed too many lives, whether in our country, Africa or the world in general. Thank God it is not a disease without prevention or cure, and since it has both, the best approach is to prevent it.
"The World Health Organization tells us that more than 400,000 malaria deaths still occur annually, and at least one child dies of the infection every two minutes around the world, this is bad enough. It cannot go on this way, we need to scale down the ugly trend, by doing more to prevent rather than chase after cure."

The first lady of Lagos noted further that the theme for this year, 'End Malaria for Good' was attainable, if governments, NGOs, stakeholders and individuals, work together to combat the epidemic.

She specifically appealed for more investment in malaria prevention, as well as greater funding for malaria control in endemic countries, stressing that this would aid the attainment of WHO's Global Technical Strategy for Malaria projection of 40 per cent reduction in cases and deaths by 2020.

Addressing the community members, Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Area, Hon. Kayode Omiyale, thanked the founder of HOFOWEM foundation, for celebrating 2018 World Malaria Day with the community.

He appealed that their environment should be kept clean at all times to avoid breeding mosquitoes, and that personal and community hygiene should be taken as a priority.

National Economic Council Recommends Ban On Herdsmen Movement In Five States - Over Killings

National Economic Council Recommends Ban On Herdsmen Movement In Five States - Over Killings

The National Economic Council chaired by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in a meeting on Thursday recommended a total ban on the movement of herdsmen across the country as a way of stopping the killings being experienced in parts of country.

The recommendation is expected to start in the five states where the killings are most highly pronounced - Benue , Taraba , Adamawa , Kaduna and Plateau.

The NEC has all state governors , the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria and relevant ministers as members, while it is chaired by the Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo.
Dave Umahi, Governor of Ebonyi State, briefed State House correspondents the outcome of the meeting presided over by Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo at the Presidential Villa , Abuja.
Umahi stated that ranching would be adopted in the five states, while the state governments would provide lands for that purpose.

He disclosed that the decision became important after he submitted the report of a technical committee on farmers and herdsmen conflicts which he chaired to the council.

According to the governor, the committee identified causes of the conflicts to include media perception, competition for scarce resources and banditry through cattle rustling and kidnapping among others.

He stated; "In all , we agreed that movement is not profitable to the herdsmen because they value the milk from the cow even more than the cow itself .
"So, movement is not healthy for the cows as it dries up the meat and give less than two litres of milk per cow per day .

"So, we condemn the issues of foreign invasion by foreign herdsmen and l am happy that the FG is doing something about it.

"We also agreed that these movements have to stop and occasionally by those who have settled and integrated from other parts of the country like the middle belt , they sometimes go into conflicts with farmers.

"So , in all we agreed that there is a more profitable and modern way of raising these cows which is by ranching . So , we have agreed that the states involved are going to give lands . Niger and Kaduna have given lands and Plateau is also giving land .
"Ranching in being practised in Mambila in Taraba State and they have success stories with regards to that."
