The verification of names and signatures to recall Senator Dino Melaye from the Senate commenced to in the Kogi West Senatorial Constituency, buy the electorates seem to have boycotted the process as very low turn out was recorded today.

The Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, has described the boycott and low turnout experienced in today's recall process of Sen. Dino Melaye, as a reflection that the APC led administration of Gov. Yahaya Bello has lost relevance.

The Director Research and Documentation of the PDP, Achadu Dickson, In a statement today thanked the people of Kogi West Senatorial District for heeding to vote against the recall.

He described the failure of the recall exercise as an indication that the present administration is not popular, having inflicted poverty, hardship and suffering on the people.

The PDP said the administration has not been sensitive to the plight of the people, who as civil servants are owed salaries for close to twenty months.

In spite the resources accrued the present administration, the PDP lamented that no visible infrastructure development can be witnessed under the Gov. Bello's administration, said the failure of the recall is a signal that the people have bid the administration goodbye.

The PDP called on the APC led administration to start packing their load, pointing out that the red card signal the recall failure has presented, is an indication that Gov. Bello and APC time in the state is up.

"I Came Out Because I Was Told Money Was Being Shared" - Lady Declares At Dino Melaye Recall

"I Came Out Because I Was Told Money Was Being Shared" - Lady Declares At Dino Melaye Recall

The ongoing verification exercise organised by INEC to authenticate signatures of voters seeking the recall of Sen. Dino Melaye (APC/Kogi West), has witnessed a low turn out in most parts of Lokoja.

NAN correspondents monitoring the exercise in the Kogi capital, report that most of the polling units were empty, with some people claiming that they were not aware of the exercise.

At most polling units in Ward 1 of Odo Egbe, INEC officials told NAN that less than 20 voters had shown interest in the exercise.

They said that many people were not interested in the recall process.

Miss Felicia Adebayo, a voter, who spoke with NAN, said that she came out because she was told that money was being shared at the polling units.

"I am told that money is being shared to those that come; I need the money because we have not been paid salary for a while," she said.

NAN's efforts to confirm the veracity of Adebayo's claim proved abortive as no one was ready to react to it.

An INEC official, who craved anonymity, said that there was general apathy to the exercise.

"Very few people have shown interest in the exercise; we have been waiting for people to come out but very few seem to know what we are doing here," he said.

Nigeria Ex-generals, Governors, Ministers Regroup To Battle Buhari - Over 2019

Nigeria Ex-generals, Governors, Ministers Regroup To Battle Buhari - Over 2019

Tanka Yakassai

There is some speculations that some prominent leaders from the North have assembled to work  against
President Muhammadu Buhari out of office come 2019.

According to Tanka Yakassai, an elder statesman, the plan is to present a more credible and acceptable presidential candidate from the region.

The group according to information at our disposal, some members of the movement are mainly retired military chiefs, former governors, ex-ministers, senators and other top public office holders.

According to the Sun
Tanka disclosed that the aim of the movement is to sack the current administration. Yakasai dismissed the claim that the entire North are for Buhari, saying, "I don't know how you came to that conclusion, because other aspirants are expressing their wish to contest, people are still aspiring.

"The question of someone becoming a consensus candidate for a whole area of the north does not make sense.

"In addition, the rule of multi party democracy, there will never be a consensus candidate anywhere in Nigeria or anywhere multi party is practiced. Otherwise the merit of multi party democracy is defeated.

"And that does not go with democracy if you come up with a consensus candidate. Consensus candidate means killing competition. Competition is the livewire of democracy.

"Those who are elected particularly at the presidential level owe their allegiance to the people who got them into office and not the voters. We want to change that narrative.

"We want the election in the future to be based on programme and manifesto, we want the election to be credible and through a verifiable process that would change the life of the people for the better.

"To do that, you have to come with your own programme and your own manifesto, not a manifesto written by hired Professors or Doctors because of their command of English that can impress people.

"Our focus is election related matters. We want our votes to have values. After an aspirant is selected, the person can now face us.

"We decided to visit all our former Heads of state who are of northern extraction. We wanted to visit first, former Head of state, General Gowon, unfortunately he was not in the country and we wrote a letter to his office to tell him about the emergence of the organization and he has not been back yet.

"As we were waiting for him, we had to go to Minna to see former Heads of state, Babangida and Abdulsalami. We found out that Abdulsalami traveled since January and would not come back soon but Babangida said he was around, we decided not to kill time but to go and speak to him."

The elder statesman revealed that the group will be meeting Obasanjo soon.

"We will do it. The programme is still on and you will hear from us. We decided to go to whoever is available. It was by sheer interest that we found Babangida available.

"Our plan was to start with General Gowon but he was not available, even Abdulsalami that we wanted to do with Babangida was not around," he said.

The Sun disclosed that, some of the prominent retired Generals on this mission include Gen. J.T Useni, Gen. John Temlong, Gen. India Garba, Gen. Ishaya Bamaiyi, Gen. E.T Nienge, Gen.
