Tinubu, Others Used To Hide While We Faced The Military In The 90's - Omoyele Sowore Posted: 04 May 2018 02:40 AM PDT Tinubu, Others Used To Hide While We Faced The Military In The 90's - Omoyele SoworeThis story is culled from the question and answer session of Omoyele Sowore #TakeItBack speech in Toronto, Canada recently.See the response from the Presidential aspirant. Question: We learnt that you are linked to TINUBU and that he is the largest funder of your medium Sahara Reporters *Sowore: I have been linked to all sort of people in the Past. But about Tinubu, I would make some things clear. Tinubu and myself shot into limelight almost the same time, while Tinubu was a Senator in Lagos, I was the same time President of the University of Lagos Student's Union. As Student Activists we were Powerful than Politicians. When the Elections were nullified, most of them went into hiding, while as Student Activists we led the charge on the streets against heavily armed Military. They later went abroad and formed NADECO, but we never ran away despite been detained, beaten and constantly brutalised, it was the coalition of some section of Labour, Civil society and Student Activist that forced the Military to eventually hand over power. So if we were both in the army in the 90's in the June 12 struggle, I would be a General and Tinubu might not even be a Colonel. I met him only once in 1999 during campaigns with Obanikoro walking together with him wearing Sandals. And one of the stories we did at Sahara Reporters that skyrocketed during our early days was to expose that Tinubu was a convicted Drug dealer back in Chicago many years ago, so the issue of Tinubu sponsorship is a dead as those who started the rumour. For years, I have challenged anyone who has contrary evidence to publicly challenge me. Sharing is caring. Share this story. This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now |
Kellogg's Cereal Maker Plans To Invest $420m In Nigeria - See Why? Posted: 04 May 2018 02:05 AM PDT Kellogg's Cereal Maker Plans To Invest $420m In Nigeria - See Why?See the story of Kellogg's plan to invest in Nigeria through one of it's Nigeria partners, Tolaram African Foods. However it seems the American company is loosing confidence of American consumers as there had been series of protest and campaign to boycott it's products in the US.Now that the cereal giant is coming to Nigeria, the question is what are the steps the Nigerian authorities and the company itself put in place to forestall what happened in the US with regards to the level of sugar in their products?See full story from Reuters below!!!! Kellogg Co topped Wall Street forecasts for first-quarter profit and sales on Thursday. Fruit Loops cereal maker Kellogg Co topped Wall Street forecasts for first-quarter profit and sales on Thursday, boosted by stronger sales of snacks including Pringles chips and protein bars. Though Kellogg has lowered the sugar content in many of its popular cereals to win back health-conscious customers, much of the Battle Creek, Michigan-based food company's business today is driven by sales of snacks such as Pringles chips and RXBARs. Highlighting the falling demand for cereal in the United States, Kellogg on Thursday also announced a $420 million investment in Nigeria's Tolaram Africa Foods, its distributing partner in Africa, which makes noodles in addition to cereal. It is the latest in a handful of deals Kellogg has sealed in the past few years to diversify its business, including the acquisitions of protein bar brand RXBAR and Brazilian snacks group Parati. The company did not disclose additional financial terms of the Tolaram investment. "Cereal consumption remained soft, though the company made progress toward stabilizing the key health and wellness brands, including Special K," Kellogg said in its earnings statement. Kellogg's sales rose 5 percent in the first three months of the year, the third consecutive quarterly increase, as shoppers also bought more Eggo waffles and veggie patties in addition to snacks. Overall sales of $3.40 billion topped analysts' expectations of $3.30 billion, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. Kellogg said it expects net sales to rise between 3 percent and 4 percent in 2018 on a constant currency basis. The forecast includes gains from the Tolaram investment and translates to sales of $13.31 billion to $13.44 billion. Kellogg's net income rose to $444 million in the first quarter of 2018 from $266 million a year earlier. Excluding one-time items, Kellogg earned $1.23 per share, handily beating expectations of $1.08. Kellogg's stock rose 3 percent to $58.47 on Thursday morning. Credit: Reuters Sharing is caring.
