Kemi Olunloyo Marks One Year After Prison Release, Writes On Her Experience, As She Solicits For Fund

Posted: 05 Jun 2018 04:53 PM PDT

Kemi Olunloyo in marking one year of release from Port Harcourt prison gave a press release on the 5th of June, 2018.

Read the press release below:

PRESS RELEASE 6/5/18
KEMI OMOLOLU-OLUNLOYO DETAILS PTSD ON PRISON RELEASE ANNIVERSARY.

A year ago today June 5th 2017, I was released from #PortHarcourt prison after detained among dangerous convicted criminals for 81days.

The IGP (Inspector General of Police and nation's top cop) Ibrahim Idris arrested me while Federal Judge Justice Hilary Oshomah granted me N1M bail seizing my travel passport, other bail conditions included I cannot write about Pastor David Ibiyeomie or Actress Iyabo Ojo online and signed promissory notes that I won't flee Nigeria or speak about the pastor and actress to media outlets.

I received an 8 page letter newstip by someone claiming to be a church member alleging corruption in Salvation Ministries Port Harcourt, a church I had never heard of. I posted the FIRST PAGE looking for witnesses as that is what a Journalist must do. The whole country thought I wrote and "published" it. My investigation was not about adultery but about a missing car allegedly donated to the church and allegedly given to the actress. The church member was demanding it back stating they had given this story to the media in 2014 and 2015 but they were allegedly bribed not to run it.

As an investigative Journalist, all I wanted to do was to find the truth. I contacted the actress and the pastor but no response. Instead they both signed a police affidavit that they did not know each other or exchanged gifts but did not talk to the reporter who ended up being arrested. The Nigerian government basically said I could not investigate a pastor. I was invited for questioning and was tricked then tied up in a Hilux police van and driven to Rivers State in 12 hours past 8 states. I spent 81 days in custody then released on bail June 5th 2017.

I would later be arrested again 17 days later on the 22nd of June 2017 when prosecutors said my lawyers never perfected my N200k magistrate bail. The case was moved from magistrate to Federal high court but the prison comptroller Mr Loveday Omu said the magistrate warrant was cancelled and did not exist so Kemi was released on a federal warrant, the only one the prison had.

My former lead lawyer Fatai Lawal of the Afe Babalola firm who allegedly got bribed by powerful interests in the prosecution causing my third arrest "forgot" to perfect the bail. The extent of corruption in the judiciary is amazing. After 5 female fans sent Lawal 100k, he got sureties and I was released the next day June 23rd 2017.

Lawal will later fraudulently not submit my medical excuse letter while hospitalized from blood poisoning during my prison stay. I had typhoid, sand and earthworms in my system from the prison water we drank. A bench warrant was signed and he did not tell me. Another lawyer in the team would later tell me that Lawal was romancing the prosecution and hid the bench warrant from the files.

I arrived in PH for my federal adjournment after 3 mos is sick leave which was all over the media that I was very ill, only to be arrested by Abuja Federal SARS police on the magistrate bench warrant. I fired Lawal after I gave him both letters to two judges. He basically gave one and not the other setting me up for that bench warrant. He even called the surety to withdraw so as to keep me longer in prison. After 90days, the surety Pius Norgio who was bribed with N10k came back and I was released January 9th 2018.

I released the entire 8 page newstip I received to the plaintiff who said I was set up by "the devil" aka someone in his church to destroy him. He withdrew his case January 22nd 2018 in magistrate court. I asked to do a testimony in his church and spoke about not letting the devil use you as I felt that the news tipster should not have gone silent in the inbox after I was arrested.

On April 16th 2018 the federal case was scheduled to be withdrawn and my passport returned. It was cancelled and scheduled for June 7th 2018. Since the magistrate case closed in January, we asked for an earlier say February/March court date for the federal case so I can get my passport and take international assignments as I was now broke, lost my domain, website and $5M in wages, ads, revenues and assignments according to my accountant in NYC.

That request was denied by the judge who still cancelled the April 2018 date. I was told that information came in that someone directly involved in the case wants to "confess" their role that unfairly sent a Journalist to prison. I have suffered #PTSD Post Traumatic Stress Disorder from my experience of 6 months three times and I need my passport back this Thursday June 7th so that I can go abroad to get proper medical care.

I started a global GoFundMe fundraiser for $250k NOT N100M. I am looking for $250,000 for travel, accommodation and lodging, Transportation, doctors, medical bills etc for at least 90 days. I do not have health insurance in the US but can activate SSI if approved.

GoFundMe is not available for Nigeria so I am asking Nigerians and my fans in foreign countries to please donate. I have touched a lot of investigative Journalism stories many will not do. The politicians own the media outlets in Nigeria. My work has become very dangerous. Those in Nigeria can donate to

First Bank of Nigeria 3020832750 Olukemi Olunloyo.

I will NOT be attending the hearing in PH because of a flight or fight reaction of my PTSD symptoms. I want nothing to do with Rivers State for the rest of my life. I am not safe in Rivers after being told by a former minister that they were "planning to eliminate you" in his own words.

I am mentally damaged. The executed dead bodies, the male rapes on the men's side, the death of Becky bleeding at 9 mos pregnant HIV positive and no help at 5am as she went into labour.

The starving and dying IPOB boys, no ventilation, mosquitoes, bare foot fungal infections, toilet infections, fights and injuries, beating new inmates as a parading ritual, forced to bribe wardresses and warders, the sardine cutter weapons, the stealing of prison supplies from the churches by the staff. I can go on. Pls donate anything if you are abroad.

Someone donated $30 already. My phone SIM is now with my assistant and I will not be able to speak to anyone at this time. You can inbox me on email only and I will try and answer some messages. I will be checking WhatsApp on WiFi.

Please absolutely NO SYMPATHY NOTES. I don't need it. I just need money for medical care to rehabilitate myself. A Nigerian psychiatrist said it may take me FIVE years to recover. 19 countries gave me political asylum but I want my passport. I am Nigerian. We own this country together. I refuse to be a refugee again after political gun violence forced me to Canada.

Thank you.

What Saraki, Dogara, Other Npdp Members Actually Want – Chief Oyegun

Posted: 05 Jun 2018 01:15 PM PDT

Chief John Odigie-Oyegun

The All Progressives Congress, APC, The National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, has spoken on the activities of the New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, a group within the ruling party APC.

Chief Oyegun  in a statement credited to him disclosed that the members of the nPDP are only looking for a good bargain themselves, adding that they (nPDP) cannot choose this time to dump the other political parties.

The APC National Chairman said that the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and others were only acting like people who want the best for themselves. Oyegun however ruled out any possibility of the group decamping to other parties.

Chief Oyegun made this known to reporters, "The process is still ongoing, and until we reach an understanding with them, it won't be right to comment, but I think we have tended to read too much that is negative into their act.

"I just have a feeling that like all people who want the best terms for themselves, they will come out at a period which they feel is advantageous to them.

"Given the state of the polity, I suppose they chose this time not because they want to leave the APC; not because they were fed up with the APC, not because they want to cause trouble with the APC, but because they want a good deal for themselves given the totality of what is going on in the party.

"So, we have accepted their protest in good faith, and we are sitting down with them to work out something that will be mutually beneficial to both interests."

You Engage In Beer Parlour Gossips - Atiku's Supporters Chide Sagay

Posted: 05 Jun 2018 12:57 PM PDT

Atiku Abubakar

The All-Atiku Support Groups led by Oladimeji Fabiyi has rebuked Professor Itse Sagay, over a statement credit to him against the former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Professor Itse Sagay, a distinguished legal scholar, Professor of Law and human rights activist, former Dean of the Faculty of Law, University of Benin, a constitutional law expert and Senior Advocate of Nigeria.

Professor Itse Sagay(SAN)

He is the  chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, in President Buhari's led APC government.

See what the All-Atiku Support Groups wrote below:

1. The attention of the All-Atiku Support Groups, umbrella body of millions of supporters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has been drawn to a newspaper report credited to the Chairman, Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) Professor Itse Sagay.

2. The AASG wishes to correct the erroneous impression which the purported claim by someone in the calibre of Professor Sagay must have painted in the minds of the unsuspecting public and innocent Nigerians, most of whom are lovers of the former Vice President of Nigeria and Waziri Adamawa, Atiku Abubakar.

3. It is indeed sad and in bad taste that Itse Sagay, a learned Professor of Law for that matter, and someone who by his calling, training and experience is expected to know better and sufficiently informed is the one who made such mischievous statement alluding to, and implying the idea that refusal to grant a request for an entry visa by the United States of America which was based on "Administrative" procedure, is a prerequisite and precondition for qualification to becoming the President of a sovereign nation like Nigeria.

4. We hold strongly that it is the prerogative of the United States of America or any other country for that matter, its embassies, diplomatic missions and consulates to grant entry visa to whoever it pleases, but also hold that denial of same for whatever reason as they may deem fit does not qualify anyone of criminal complicity. Several Nigerians have been denied in the past, and many more will still be denied, but Nigerian citizens so denied are not criminals. Waziri Atiku Abubakar is no exception.

6. The United States of America has never at any time accused nor alluded to any legal or criminal infraction against Waziri Atiku Abubakar and one would have thought it answers to intelligence, common sense and the calling of Professor Sagay to speak to facts of law in this regard and not corner street discussions, beer parlour gossips, rumours and hearsays.

7. Atiku Abubakar has been out of government since 2007; and that is about eleven years ago; as a businessman and a successful one at that, he has travelled to several countries all over the world including the United Kingdom, and many of these countries signed extradition pact with the United States of America, and he has not been declared wanted in any.

8. We observed that Professor Sagay has been so eager to retain his job with the present administration and nothing would be considered too odious for him to please his employer and paymaster even if such puts his integrity at stake and push him to the lowest level of esteem. It beats every imagination that Professor Sagay has constantly overreached his core mandate in advisory capacity to Mr. President and has become another vocal tool in the propaganda machine of the APC.

9. However, we at All-Atiku Support Groups and indeed all men and women of goodwill have a different view about how political battles should be fought and won. We are of the view that our democracy, having gone through the crucibles of trials and errors should have matured to a level where issues, policies and programmes are the plank upon which public discourse should rest. We think persons in his status should be above petty and mischievous hearsays and beer-parlour gossips, a new vocation that Professor Sagay has suddenly graduated himself into.

10. Nigerians are, more than ever before, interested in robust discussions bordering on policies and programmes of the current administration and the APC led Federal government. They want to know how the policies and programmes have impacted positively on their lives and improve their living conditions and not deliberate ploys of the handlers of President Muhammadu Buhari to stifle dissenting voices and members of the opposition. Sadly, our democracy is the greatest victim of the self-righteous war which is being directed at hounding free citizens but sparring members of the exclusive club of APC and Aso Rock cabals.

11. We, therefore, call on President Muhammadu Buhari to rein in and call Professor Sagay to order on his not-too-responsible statements which are capable of hurting our hard won democracy.

Signed:

Oladimeji Fabiyi
Chairman, All-Atiku Support Groups
Abuja
5th June, 2018.

A video has emerged online of school children in Kano State being served food in sheets of paper on Government School feeding programme, has gone viral.

The Voice of America Hausa service yesterday June 4th shared the shocking video of pupils in the Nigerian Government school feeding initiatives, being served food on sheets of paper.

The Voice Of America Hausa service further disclosed that, the pupils intervied complained that the food they were being given lacked ingredients like the one their parents give to them at home.

When the VOA reporter sought to find out from the teachers, why the pupils were being served food on pieces of papers, the teachers who pleaded anonymity said the Federal Government told them they were going to provide them with plates but they are still waiting for the plates.

It could be recalled that during the 2015 election campaign, one of the election promises of APC was to provide lunch for all school pupils in the public school in Nigeria.

However the School Feeding programme has been launched by the Government and has commenced in some states of the Federation.

"Buhari Not A Man" – Ahmad Lawan Reveals

Posted: 05 Jun 2018 10:35 AM PDT

Senator Ahmad Lawan, the Senate Leader, says President Muhammadu Buhari is not a man, but a phenomenon.

Senator Lawan, while hosting members of the North East Youth Coalition for President Buhari (NEYCPB) in his office, said Buhari is a phenomenon because his persona is now a movement and not a single personality.

The Senator stated that Buhari didn't come into government for personal enrichment, thereby urging Nigerians to join him to help solve problems Nigeria is facing.

Senator Lawan said, "Buhari is a phenomenon; it's a movement. What I mean here, let me not be misquoted. When I said Buhari is not a man, Buhari is an attitude to life, what is that attitude? Integrity and commitment.
"He came into politics not to make money. It is our duty as citizens not to allow the president to do it alone. No matter how you are, how equipped you are, when it comes to leadership and administration, especially of a country that is as complex Nigeria, you need every hand to be on deck.
"That is what we are trying to do; that is what the coalition is seeking to do. When the president came in 2015, the first actions he took were necessary to rescue and secure the North East.

"The North East has been rescued. Insurgency, once it starts, it doesn't stop like when rain starts and stops.

"You will always find from time to time some signs that they are still there. But the signs have been reduced to suicide bombing of soft targets, not declaring a caliphate with headquarters in Bama or anywhere else. We really owe gratitude to our president," he stated.

The Upper And Lower Chambers Of The House Of Assembly In Joint Closed Door Meeting Over Impeachment Plot

Posted: 05 Jun 2018 09:41 AM PDT

The Senate and the House of Reps are in a joint closed-door session to discuss and deliberate over the Political tension in the country.

This is the aftermath of a separate meeting held on Monday by some members of the National Assembly to discuss a workable approach to address "the assault" on its members by the Executive.

After a prolonged meeting that stretched all through the night, there were suggestions from some senators that an impeachment procedure should be commenced against President Muhammadu Buhari.

According to an insider at the meeting, the national assembly leaders in attendance were "very jittery" over the impeachment threat as recent events in the polity "have instilled fear in them".

For fear of police actions against members of the Senate, 25 members who had planned to defect to PDP, could not summon the courage to do now.

Senator Dino Melaye and Shehu Sani have been guests of the police recently after being accused of criminal offences, while Senate President Bukola Saraki has been linked with the Offa bank heist of April 5 by the police.

In a similar development, the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, is due to face charges of violating the code of conduct law by allegedly failing to declare his assets outside Nigeria.

The opposition party, PDP has on it's part, also accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of charging a number of its members to court which it described as politically motivated.

IMPEACHMENT APPROACH

"When we mooted the idea of impeaching Buhari at the meeting, you could see that our leaders were not comfortable. They are clearly shaken by the robbery charge against Saraki," a Senator disclosed to TheCable.

Melaye was the most vocal of the lawmakers in attendance.

The out spoken Senator teased the "jittery" Senators, telling them Buhari would soon come after them whether or not they defected from APC.

"Dino told Ekweremadu (PDP) that he was wasting his time thinking Buhari would pipe down. He also accused Senator Godswill Akpabio (PDP) of spending money like water to prevent his arrest as if that would solve his problem," another senator told TheCable.

Some were of the opinion that the best time for the APC senators to defect is now, insisting that public sympathy was with the opposition with the "persecution of those perceived to be politically opposed to Buhari".

It was then resolved that a joint executive session would be held on Tuesday to agree on an appropriate response.

According to both chambers, the session will be closed to the public including the media.

"Withdraw ‘This Is Nigeria’ Video Within 7 Days Or Else" - MURIC Tell Falz

Posted: 05 Jun 2018 08:10 AM PDT

The Muslim Rights Concern group, MURIC, in a statement recently expressing displeasure at a music video, 'This is Nigeria' by rapper, Falz the Bahd guy; and has given Falz seven days to pull down the video from all online sources.

Read the statement below:

Folarin Falana (Falz the Bahd Guy), a Nigerian artist, last week released a new song called 'This is Nigeria'. The production featured a character that dressed like a Fulani man, who suddenly abandoned his traditional guitar and beheaded a man. It also portrayed women in hijab as choreographers dancing the 'shaku-shaku' (a dance associated with a drug-related song).

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) strongly denounces the Shaku Shaku dance video. It is thoughtless, insensitive and highly provocative. It is a hate video. It is Islamophobia nulli secundus. This video has the potential of causing religious crisis of unprecedented dimension. We therefore demand its withdrawal and an apology to Nigerian Muslims within seven days or the authors and their agents will face legal action if they fail to comply.

The video manifests ethnic bias against Fulanis while it ignored the criminal activities of ethnic militia of the Middle Belt who have also massacred Fulanis and rustled their cattles in their thousands. This video has denigrated Islam, demonized Nigerian Muslims and subjected them to public opprobium.

MURIC rejects Falz' explanation that the the girls in hijab in his 'Shaku Shaku' dance symbolize the Chibok girls because nothing in the video indicates that the girls represent the Chibok girls. At least none of the Chibok girls have been seen dancing like a drunkard. They are always in pensive mood. Do they have any cause to be dancing? Are they happy? This video is the most detestable, odious and insidious Islam-bashing in recent time.

Only the scenes portraying police brutality and the money-swallowing snake in the video are near the truth. Falz' 'Shaku Shaku' video is nothing but a hate-induced production. It is a most unpatriotic handiwork of a Nigerian youth in 2018. Here is the work of a youth working towards turning Nigerians against each other; a youth inciting Nigerian Christians to hate their Muslim neighbours; a youth instigating Muslims to religious violence. This video is in bad taste. It is a hate video. It is an assault on the self-dignity of every Muslim. It is freedom of expression gone haywire.

We call the attention of security agencies to this hate action. The tragedy facing modern societies all over the world is their criminal complicity in Islam-bashing and their hypocritical accusation of Muslims of terrorism and religious violence. On the contrary, terrorism is mere smoke. Provocation, derision and injustice are the fires which cause terrorism. We reiterate our pontification that it is naïve for a fire fighter to ignore the fire and turn his hose at the smoke. The world is treating symptoms, leaving the real ailment to fester.

We remind Nigerians of the outcome of similar provocative actions in the past and their unpalatable outcomes. The violent reaction of Nigerian Muslims to Fun Times magazine's blasphemous story of December 1990 in which it was alleged that "Muhammad had an illicit affair with a woman of easy virtue according to the Qur'an and later married her" shook the country to its foundation. Isioma Daniel's article, "The World at Their Feet" published in ThisDay newspaper on Saturday, 16th November, 2002, drew the ire of Muslims across the length and breadth of Nigeria.

Violent demonstrations broke out in 2005 when the Danish newspaper Jyllands-Posten's published a cartoon in which Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was depicted as a terrorist wearing a bomb-laden turban. In January 2015, Charlie Ebdo, the French satirical magazine used cartoons that were considered provocative by Muslims. Blood flowed on the streets of Paris.

We condemn violence and all acts of terrorism. But we do not share the opinion that freedom of expression can go to any length. Even Pope Francis has warned people not to insult the faith of others. He said, "It is normal. You cannot provoke. You cannot insult the faiths of others. You cannot make fun of the faiths of others. Freedom of speech and expression are fundamental human rights. However, there should be a limit to offending and ridiculing the faiths and beliefs of others."

But has this advice been taken seriously? Nigerian Artistes have consistently proved that they are most willing to ignore the Pope's advice. They provoke Muslims at the slightest opportunity. They have this habit of giving Muslim names to characters who play devilish, immoral and lowly roles in their films, e.g. Sikiratu Sindodo, Jelili Oniso, Basira Baseje, Osanle Modinat, Aminatu Pa-pa-pa are a few examples. Of recent, Muniru and Ambali play despicable roles of idiocy.

The idea behind this is to make Muslims feel ashamed of the ordinary Muslim name. It is inhuman, despicable and bully-motivated. MURIC will defend the Muslim name with every legitimate tool at its disposal.

There is no gainsaying the fact that a culture of impunity pervades the arts in Nigeria. The National Film And Video Censors Board (NFVCB), a regulatory agency set up by Act No. 85 of 1993 to regulate films and the video industry has a case to answer. 'Shaku Shaku' video was shot and released under its watch. What is its alucutus. What will it say if Muslims elect to go violent over this primitive, irresponsible and reckless production? What will it say if hundreds of lives and properties worth billions of dollars are lost in the ensuing violence due to its negligence?

As we round up, MURIC warns Nigerian artists to stop giving Muslim names to devilish and lowly characters. We appeal to Muslims all over the country to simmer down. Let us adopt a civilized approach to 'Shaku Shaku' and teach agents provocateur some lessons in respect for human feelings. Instead of going violent, Nigerian Muslims should take those behind the 'Shaku Shaku' video to court in order to serve as a deterrent to others.

We therefore give notice of impending legal action against the artist behind the 'Shaku Shaku' video unless the latter is withdrawn and an apology is widely published within seven days.
