Senate Closed Meeting, Hon. Kazaure Brief The Press:

The Upper Chambers and the Lower Chambers of the House of Assembly had a closed door meeting yesterday to discuss matters of urgent attention and the meeting was closed from the press.



At the end of the meeting, Honourable Kazaure, representing Jigawa State, briefed the pressed. He condemned the harassment of the Senate leadership, but stated that the impeachment plot against President Muhammadu Buhari will not work because his group will resist it.


He said:

'We shall resist any impeachment attempt on the President, because our group is powerful. I want the President to sack some ministers'

Mark Yari & Abubakar Mohammed Mamadi Attacked By Mob In Kaduna For Election Fraud

There was some media reports that trouble broke out earlier today at Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna state following the re-scheduled local government election in the area.

The report has it that some angry protesters launched an attack on two lawmakers who were allegedly caught with electoral materials.

The lawmakers who were accused are House of Representatives member, Abubakar Mohammed Mamadi and Member of Kaduna State House of Assembly, Mark Yari.

Hundreds of voters in the area protested that the lawmakers, from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, allegedly came to steal their mandates.
It was also reported that the gate of the Chikun Local Government Secretariat was brought down by the angry protesters, who claimed that their preferred party, the PDP had won the polls but was robbed of the mandate.

Hon. Yari on his part however said he was innocent, describing the allegation as the handiwork of the opposition, saying that he was molested with an undisclosed amount of money stolen from him by the mob.

June 12 Has Been Declared Democracy Day By The Federal Government, Awards MKO GCFR Posthumously

The Federal Government today May 6th, 2018 has released a Press Statement that henceforth June 12 will be regarded as Nigeria's Democracy Day.

President Muhammadu Buhari in a statement which he shared via his official Twitter handle made this revelation.

In the statement, the President also added that the presumed winner of the 1993 elections will be posthumously awarded the highest title in Nigeria, GCFR. The vice presidential candidate Babagana Kingigbe will also be awarded the title GCON.

The President also announced that Late Human Right activist Gani Fawehinmi is also awarded the title GCON.

Kannywood Actors And Actresses Meet Senate President; Bukola Saraki

He said he had a meeting with them and also said that it was a pleasure interacting with the Second Largest Producer of Films in the World.

‘Transmission’ In President Buhari’s Letter Triggered Laughter Among Senators

The plenary of the Senate Wednesday was characterised with mild drama when Bukola Saraki, the Senate President read President Muhammadu Buhari's cover letter on an executive bill.

The Senate President in reading out the letter to members, and the mention of "transmission" in its title generated laughter in the chamber.

The title read, "Transmission of the Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Amendment Bill 2018."

Saraki also burst into laughter, forcing him to start reading the letter afresh."Let me start again," he said.

Buhari's letter read, "I forward herewith a draft Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Amendment Bill 2018 for the kind consideration and passage by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while hoping that the bill will receive the usual expeditious consideration and passage by the distinguished Senate."

It could be recalled that a viral video had shown the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, struggling to read a speech at the inauguration of the Police Technical Intelligence Unit in Kano, Kano State, in May.

The video showed the IG stuttering over words like "commission" and "transmission."
