Fayemi Responds To Alleged News On Spending N18bn On Poll

Posted: 13 Jul 2018 12:51 AM PDT

Dr. Kayode Fayemi

The Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation has refuted accusation by the Kolapo Olusola Campaign Organization alleging the movement of N18b from Akure Airport to Ekiti State for the election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi.

According to the Daily Post, the Director of Media and Publicity, for the organisation, Wole Olujobi, said Lere Olayinka, author of the press release, was writing from a "hallucinating imagination" and background of a professional liar.

He said:

"Lere Olayinka has a background of integrity deficiency in information dissemination in strict complement with his boss, Governor Ayodele Fayose.

"Across the country and the world audience through social media, Olayinka is renowned for his notoriety to concoct falsehoods and present them to readers as facts.

"Discerning minds will note the lies contained in the story by a single logic that it took Olusola and Olayinka a whole week after the leak of funds movement before they alerted Nigerians about a purported money cargo being offloaded in Akure for Fayemi's election in Ekiti.

"By this lie from the pit of hell, we know that PDP is trying to paint a picture that it is a comrade-in-crime with APC after Fayose's 2014 poll fraud funded with the loot from the office of the National Security Adviser.

"It is also to argue that APC bought Ekiti people's votes after Saturday humiliation of Fayose and Olusola who have set Ekiti people back in their thirst for development."

In a related development, Olujobi faulted Olusola's alleged claim that policemen assaulted Fayose on Wednesday, explaining that the latest Fayose's apology to the Police authorities for lying against their officers did not support the claim that police assaulted the governor.

"It is great that security details attached to Fayose have confessed that there was no attack on the governor.

"The security details confessed after they were queried for dereliction of duty in the protection of their principal.

"Late last night, Fayose sent his aides to the police for forgiveness for lying against their officers.

"The police spokesman this evening said so, but Olusola is still misinforming Nigerians that the police assaulted Fayose, which then goes to show the quality of his Christian life that he is flaunting to aspire to lead the state.

"Nigerians are expecting the purported pictures showing funds movement to Ekiti State to fund Fayemi's election, but we know that the pictures cannot be more than the 11 pictures that Fayose threatened to publish to show that President Muhammadu Buhari was on life support machine in the United Kingdom hospital," Olujobi explained.

Emotions rose on Thursday as passers-by cursed an unknown mother, who dumped the corpse of her baby at a heap of refuse in Lagos.

NAN-TV reports that the corpse of the baby girl was discovered at the dump site at Costain Bus-stop on Apapa Road in Ebute Meta, Lagos State.

The baby, clad in a light-green unisex wear with a black cap, looked malnourished.

A trader, Adeolu Aderogba, said she resumed her routine around 7.00 a.m. only to discover that the baby was at the refuse dump.

"Whoever dumped the baby there must be a very wicked person.

"Babies are precious gifts from God and should be cared for but some contemporary mothers seem to be careless and morally bankrupt,'' she said.

A resident who pleaded anonymity, told NAN-TV that the baby showed signs of life in the early hours of the day.

"Imagine this kind of tragedy, if the baby had been rescued on time, she would not have died," he said.

Oti told NAN that the police were taking action but that no arrest had been made in connection with the matter. (NAN)

'I Am A Very Slow Reader Maybe Because I’m An Ex-soldier' - President Buhari Reveals

Posted: 12 Jul 2018 05:20 PM PDT

Muhammadu Buhari

'I Am A Very Slow Reader Maybe Because I'm An Ex-soldier', President Buhari has admitted being a very slow reader. The President attributed this deficiency to his past profession as a Soldier.

According to Sahara Reporters, President Buhari made this known to press men, when he addressed the issue, why Nigeria has not yet signed the $3 trillion African Free-Trade Agreement, during a joint press conference with the visiting South African President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Nigeria refused to join a continental free-trade zone established in March, on the grounds that it wishes to defend its own businesses and industry, but the Federal Government later said it wanted more time to consult business leaders.

"I am very careful about what I sign, whether it is my cheque book or agreements, especially when it involves nations and states. As your President has said, we are so populated and have so many young unemployed citizens and our industries are just coming up," he said.

"So, in trying to guarantee employment, goods and services in our country, we have to be careful with agreements that will compete, maybe successfully, against our upcoming industries.

"I was presented with the document; I am a very slow reader maybe because I am an ex-soldier. I didn't read it fast enough before my officials saw that it was all right for signature. I kept it on my table. I will soon sign it."

The visiting South African President, Ramaphosa also spoke on the incesant killings of Nigerians in South Africa, explaining them as acts of criminality that his administration is determined to end.

"There has been quite a number of incidences in our country where foreign nationals some of whom are Nigerians have lost their lives and are being attacked," he said. "I will like to say here and now that has been as a result of criminal activity among our own people which we are focusing on from a criminal element point of view."

It could be recalled that earlier in March this year, 44 countries joined the continental free-trade zone, which encompasses 1.2 billion people. South Africa signed up earlier this month, but six countries, including Nigeria, are yet to sign the agreement.

African Union officials said countries that have signed the agreement will need to submit a schedule of tariffs by December, adding that they expect intra-African trade to double over the next four years once tariffs are reduced.

Minister Of Labour Ngige Gets Matching Order From Oshiomole - Over Board Formation

Posted: 12 Jul 2018 04:35 PM PDT

Dr Chris Ngige, Minister of Labour and the Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, has received an ultimatum from the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to inaugurate all the boards under their ministries within one week or face the wrath of the party; media report reveals.

According to his media aide, Simon Ebegbulem,Thursday said that the APC National Chairman gave the directives in a letter addressed to the ministers, dated 11th July 2018,

He added that Comrade Oshiomhole expressed displeasure that the ministers failed to reconstitute the boards which according to him contravened the position of the National Executive Council and the presidential directives to all ministers, describing it as a great disrespect to the party.

The letter reads in part;

"This is to inform you that the attention of the National Working Committee has been drawn to your refusal to inaugurate members of the re-constituted boards under the supervision of your ministry.

"This contravenes the position of the NEC, National Caucus and the Presidential Directives to all ministers to inaugurate boards of parastatals under their ministries. We find this attitude as disrespect to the President and disservice to our great party.

"The party will henceforth no longer tolerate any appointee of government at all level who continue to willfully disregard lawful instructions from either the government or the party.

"In the light of the foregoing, you are hereby directed to inaugurate all the boards under your ministry within one week, failure of which the party will take appropriate disciplinary measures against you."

Timi Frank APC Chieftain, Drags President Buhari, APC To UN Over Fayose’s Ordeal - Aftermath Of Ekiti Rally

Posted: 12 Jul 2018 01:06 PM PDT

Comrade Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC,  has decided to dragged the ruling party and President Muhammadu Buhari before the Secretary-General of the United Nations, UN, António Guterres.

The former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling APC, called on the world leader to come to the aid of Nigeria and particularly, the people of Ekiti State in what he described as "dark hour of massive security crackdown against the people."

According to a report by the DailyPost, Frank stated that democracy in Nigeria is again being threatened by massive onslaught allegedly launched by security agents employed and funded by the country to protect the citizens and safeguard the nation's territorial integrity.

The report further stated that Comrade Frank wrote an open letter to the UN on Thursday titled:

"Police siege on Ekiti: Nigeria democracy on trial",

The APC chieftain said;

"Yesterday the world saw an appalling form of impunity and brutality against innocent citizens in Ekiti State apparently in a last ditch effort to sway the results of this Saturday's gubernatorial election in favour of the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Kayode Fayemi.

"The rally (road walk) organized by the outgoing Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was not only disrupted with noxious and harmful gas, Fayose was forcefully restricted to the Government House – where he was equally gassed. This renewed intimidation, harassment and attacks against leaders and members of an opposition political party in Nigeria, has compelled me to alert you of the threat to peace and democracy in the country as amply demonstrated by the highhandedness and open display of intolerance by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) against opposition political parties in Nigeria.

"There is, therefore, urgent need for the United Nations (UN) under your leadership to intervene to prevent the ongoing gross violation of the fundamental human rights of citizens to assemble and the brutal attacks against the person of Fayose and hundreds of supporters of the PDP, who had congregated for a grand finale rally in favour of its candidate in the Election, Professor Olusola Eleka, only to be driven back to their houses by the police through the use of tear gas and live ammunitions. Note that the police were recently deployed to the State by the Federal Government under the guise of maintaining law and order before, during and after the Saturday election. Regrettably, the police deployed to the state in addition to the officers and men in the Ekiti State Police Command have now turned to be an army of occupation.

"The ongoing police siege on Ekiti State by 30,000 fully armed policemen in the guise of election duty is nothing but a well-orchestrated security crackdown on innocent citizens who are hoping to be allowed to cast their ballot on Saturday and participate in electing the next governor of the state.

"It has been established by several UN Conventions and human rights' charter that the right to vote and be voted for is an inalienable right of a citizens of any country. For the a avoidance of doubt, the number of police personnel and equipment deployed so far for the Ekiti election include a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in charge of operations, Assistant Inspectors General of Police, Four Commissioners of Police, eight Deputy Commissioners of Police, 30,000 fully armed policemen, two patrol surveillance helicopters, 5 additional armored personnel carriers, 10 amoured personnel vehicles and 25,000 police patrol vehicles. The above represents police deployment. Other security agencies will yet make similar deployments."

While calling on the UN to call the APC-led federal government to order, Frank said: "I dare say that the unlawful use of the police against innocent citizens and members of the opposition PDP in Ekiti is a direct manifestation of the level of desperation of the APC and the present administration to win the Ekiti Governorship election.

"Let me add that had ex-President Goodluck Jonathan and the PDP been this desperate in 2015, Buhari and APC would never have tasted power. Impunity has overwhelmed us in Nigeria. And we need help to ensure that our democracy and voting process is devoid of harassment, intimidation and undue influence by the government.

"If the open display of barbarity by the police in Ekiti State, is anything to go by, one can safely say that a worse fate awaits members and leaders of the opposition political parties during the 2019 general elections.

"The UN and by extension the world cannot afford to condone this open aggression against a peaceful people gearing up to elect a governor of their choice! This is why I am calling on you to come to the aid of Nigeria in this dark hour of massive security crackdown against the people of Ekiti State.

"Otherwise, chaos and anarchy may soon reign in an unimaginable way should the people now pushed against the wall be forced to resort to self help to defend themselves. If a Governor can be treated in such shabby and inhuman manner, then where lies the hope for the common man on the streets?" he asked.

N18 Billion Cash Allegedly Moved By FG To Ekiti State To Fund Fayemi Election

Posted: 12 Jul 2018 01:00 PM PDT

Read below the statement signed by Olayinka as shared by PoliticsNGR

We called you here to intimate the public through your various media organisations of the movement of huge cash by the federal government to Ekiti State for the Saturday election.

Last week Saturday, two bullion vehicles were moved to the Akure Airport to evacuate cash brought from Abuja by a chattered flight.

The flight landed when it was raining and all staff of the airport were barred from going near the aircraft while the cash was evacuated into the two bullion vehicles.

After offloading the huge cash, the bullion van first moved to the Ondo State Government House in Akure from where they left for Isan Ekiti, the hometown of the APC governorship candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
We present to you and the entire world, video and photographs of the chattered aircraft as the cash was being offloaded from it into the two bullion vehicles.

From our preliminary findings, N2.5 billion cash was transferred by the Kebbi State Government to an account in UBA, Wuse Zone 4, Abuja. It was withdrawn immediately and moved with a private jet to Akure.

Also, apart from the N2.5 billion, another $50 million (about N18bn) was taking from the $321 million recovered from the late Abacha family.

Our question is, how can a government that claimed to be fighting corruption released billions of naira from the public coffers for the governorship election of a single State? Where is their fight against corruption?

We therefore call on Nigerians to note this wanton looting of public fund by the APC government to fund election of its members.

We must tell Fayemi and his APC that the conscience of the people of Ekiti cannot be purchase and we call on the people of Ekiti to resist the planned use of stolen fund to buy their votes of Saturday.

Lastly, let me use this opportunity also alert the public of the intimidation and harassment of PDP members by men of the DSS and policemen.

Already, Akin Fakorede, an officer of the Federal SARS has been posted to Ekiti State, ostensibly to play the same ignoble role that he played during the Rivers State election.

Let me say it clearly that no amount of intimidation will scare our people away from the polling units where they will vote for the PDP on Saturday.

We have the people behind us and they are more than ready to give our candidate, Prof. Kolapo Olusola Eleka their votes on Saturday."

APC Mop Up Rally Request Was Also Turned Down By The Police - Ekiti Police Reveals

Posted: 12 Jul 2018 10:46 AM PDT

According to a post shared on Nairaland, the Nigeria Police has shared a document to prove that it was not only PDP that applied for the 11th July rally that was turned down.

www.nairaland.com/4613082/ekitidecides-apc-mop-up-rally

The post on Nairaland reads:

For those who think that the Nigerian police were against Fayoses rally in Ekiti alone, this is proof that the Nigerian police also turned down the request by the APC to carry out a mop up rally in Ekiti on the 11th.

PDP was also turned down but they decided to go against the law by trying to hold the rally without police authorization.

So who then would blame the police for being decisive with their action in Ekiti?

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has adviced the people of Ekiti State against any acts of violence in the fought coming Saturday Polls.

The Royal Father warned that if the "election is bloody" in Ekiti State, "other states will be affected too."

According to the Daily Post, Ooni, who is the co-Chairman of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria gave the advice on Wednesday at his palace in Ile-Ife while hosting the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, Paul Arkwright.

Crisis Eminent In APC As Oshiomhole Declares Removal Of ‘Automatic Tickets’

Posted: 12 Jul 2018 10:18 AM PDT

Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has warned that there will not be any automatic ticket for political aspirants on the platform of the party.

Oshiomhole passed the warning while inaugurating members of the non-National Working Committee members in Abuja, yesterday.

He insisted that the NWC will not hesitate to adopt the option of direct primaries, to whittle the powers of any party member who wants to compromise internal democracy standard.

"We have lots of options in our constitution. We have the option of direct primaries. By direct primaries, you remove the power from delegates to party members and so, if you think that you can compromise the delegates and undermine the wises of majority of our members, we will call our members to do the voting.

"So, all those options are open. If we ask you to do consensus, you refuse to do consensus and you want to do a one-man show, knowing that one man cannot do election, we will neutralise those abuse of privileges by allowing direct membership participation.

"This leadership cannot be compromised. We will not be intimidated and we will not misuse our privileges to deny any one of our members appropriate opportunities to contests and have the opportunity to serve the country," he warned.

The former Edo governor also pointed out that the era of appointing members of the opposition party into the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government is over.

"We are aware that, even as at today, we still have a lot of PDP people occupying very important positions in federal agencies.

"We will do everything possible to purge these elements out of the system because we are a party of change.
