Leah Sharibu Has Not Renounced Christianity – Mama Boko Haram

Posted: 23 Jul 2018 05:53 PM PDT

Leah Sharibu

Mrs Aisha Wakil, popularly known as Mama Boko Haram has stated that Leah Sharibu has not given up her Christian faith, despite still being held by the terrorist group; Boko Haram.

Wakil made this revelation while announcing that she's working with the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) to rescue Leah Sharibu.

It could be recalled Leah is the only Christian among the 112 kidnapped by Boko Haram insurgents from Girls Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe state.

Sharibu was held back for refusing to renounce Christianity, while the others were later returned home to their parents by Boko Haram.

Wakil told newsmen in Maiduguri on Monday, "I am really worried about Leah and her freedom from Boko Haram is very important to me.

"Leah did not renounce her religion, that I can assure you and we shall do everything with both the government and the international organisation to ensure she regains her freedom just like her colleagues that were reunited with her families."

Mama Boko Haram used the occasion to disclose that her foundation would also partner with ICRC to empower widows and rehabilitate underage girls engaging in commercial sex activities.

Mrs Wakil, an Igbo, by birth, was a member of the Dialogue and Peaceful Resolution Of Security Challenges Committee in the northern region set up by President Goodluck Jonathan.

She was instrumental in efforts at restoring peace to the Northeast and assisted in the release of some abductees by the Boko Haram sect.

Police Invitation Mere Political Game – Saraki Reacts To IGP’s Order Over Offer Bank Robbery

Posted: 23 Jul 2018 05:25 PM PDT

Bukola Saraki and Ibrahim Idris

Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, Nigeria Senate President, has disclosed  that the invitation to him by the Police to report to a station in Guzape over the Offa robbery investigation is a mere afterthought, which is designed to achieve political purpose.

Saraki in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu, said that he had it on good authority that the Police had already decided on the suspects to arraign in court in Ilorin, Kwara State on Wednesday based on the advice of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Mohammed U.E. and that the turn around to invite him was a ploy aimed at scoring cheap political points.

"I have been reliably informed that the police invitation was planned by IG as a ploy to stop an alleged plan by some Senators and House of Representatives members from defecting from the All Progressives Congress (APC). It was also said that if I was detained between Tuesday and Wednesday, that will abort the so-called defection plan.

"While I continue to maintain that the issue of my position on the 2019 elections is not a personal decision for me alone to make, it should be noted that all these concoctions and evil plot cannot deter me. Those behind this fresh assault will fail as I have nothing to do with the robbery incident or any criminal matter for that matter.

"I am aware that following a request made by the Police on June 13, 2018 to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) of the Federation had written a legal advice dated June 22, 2018, in which he stated on page 5, paragraph (f) that "For the Senate President and the Kwara State Governor, this office is unable to establish from the evidence in the interim report a nexus between the alleged office and the suspects".

"The Police have obviously corrupted and politicized their investigations into the Offa robbery incident. They have turned it into an instrument for the party in power to suppress perceived opponents, witchunt issue for blackmailing people from freely choosing which platform on which they want to pursue their ambition and a matter for harassing the people whose exit from APC would harm the chances of the party in the forthcoming elections.

"I want to make it apparent that I have no hand in either the robbery incident or any criminal activity. The Police in their haste to embarrass me sent the invitation to me at 8pm and requested that I report to the station by 8am tomorrow morning. This obviously demonstrated their desperation as I do not see why they are now in a hurry.

"They also stated in today's letter that because in my response of June 7, 2018 to their own letter written on June 4, 2018, I stated that I was responding simply to the contents of the letter and that the full text of the statement made by the arrested suspects which they claimed indicted me was not made available to me, they were now including the suspects statements in the current letter. Yet, instead of including the suspects' statements, they only attached two copies of my own letter to the invitation. No suspects statement was made available.

"This plot aimed at compelling me and my associates to stay in a party where members are criminalised without just cause, where injustice is perpetrated at the highest level and where there is no respect for constitutionalism is an exercise in futility and it will fail.

"Once again, my confidence in God and our judicial system remains intact and unshaken. The truth shall also prevail in this case", he stated.

Ortom who was responding to the governorship aspirants in the state rejecting his return to the party noted that he was foundation member of the PDP in Benue and does not need to consult with any party governorship aspirant if he decides to return to the party.

Mr. Tahav Agerzua, the special adviser to the Governor on Media and ICT, while speaking on behalf of the Governor, had stated that he is yet to disclose to anyone that he is defecting.

According to the governor, I don't need to seek their permission before joining the People Democratic Party(PDP), and l have not announced to anyone that i am going into PDP. The Special advicer said, the governor would address the issue when the time comes.

"As for now, he is saying that the National leadership of APC, called him to a meeting on Thursday in Abuja and that he will make his final announcement after the meeting on Thursday.

"So, l don't know where those people got their information from. But the issue of the party is an issue of interest. Maybe the aspirants feel that their interest is threatened, but surely l don't think they have the controlling powers of the structure of PDP, Ortom said.

In the same vein, elders from Masev, Ihyarev and Nongov Development Association, known as MINDA, a geopolitical zone in the state came out from a meeting yesterday and called on Ortom to seek an alternative platform for his re-election bid.

The spokesman of the elders' forum, Senator JKN Waku said that MINDA people had in the past, supported other blocks including Kwande, Jechira, Jemgbagh and Sankera to enjoy their turns as Governor of the state and would not allow those whom he said have catapulted themselves into demigods to cause confusion in their ranks.

While noting that aside of governors Aper Aku and Moses Adasu whose tenure was cut short due to military intervention, 'Senator George Akume and Gabriel Suswam did eight years as Governor and Ortom's case would not be different.'

The group promised the governor of their unflinching support for his reelection project, the elders said APC-led administration had not been fair to Benue people, hence the need to move en mass to another political party as quickly as possible.

They vowed to resist the antics of divide and rule by any individual or group of persons, stressing that when a man marries and divorces several wives, his character should be questioned.

Oshiomhole Says No Price Is Too Much For Peace In APC, Admits Wooing R-APC Members

Posted: 23 Jul 2018 10:29 AM PDT

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday, said he was not ashamed to woo aggrieved members of the party in pursuit of peace in the APC and Nigeria.

Oshiomhole, who said this in Abuja, while delivering his speech at the launch of the book titled, 'Poorlitics', stressed that Nigeria's stability was linked to the stability of political parties, hence the need to ensure that there is peace in the APC.

Recall that aggrieved members of the ruling party, under the platform of Reformed All Progressives Congress (rAPC), had announced their intention to quit the party and are currently in talks with other opposition parties.

According to ThisDayLive, Oshiomhole noted that his decision to toe the path of peace was not borne out of cowardice but out of the conviction that there was need to ensure fairness and justice for the overall development of society.

"Over the past 48hours I have read stories in most of our newspapers that I Oshiomhole has been going around not sleeping, going after those who are politically aggrieved and that we are offering juicy promises, according to them, and offering all kinds of inducement for people to remain where they are.

"There are many people who may think I am a coward or that I am not capable to fight, they should ask former President Obasanjo. But it is better we invest every effort, it is better to go to any length in pursuance of peace, in pursuance of understanding.

"If there are genuine evidence that people have been unfairly treated, it is my opinion that you cannot decree peace but you can only work for peace. And peace is a by-product of justice and fairness and so for all of us who are committed to peace we must be seen beyond rhetoric to be committed to fairness and justice.

"And whenever we have evidence that anyone has been unfairly treated or have been denied justice, we have a collective duty to play our part and ensure that the cause of the injustice and unfairness is addressed satisfactorily so that the foundation for sustainable peace and harmony is laid not only in our political life but even in our social and economic life.

"Therefore I am not ashamed and hereby affirmed that I will continue as a Nigerian who want peace in Nigeria and as chairman of the governing party to ensure that there is peace in the party and as a human being to ensure that their is peace in the world", he said.

While noting that disagreement is bound to occur among members of a group, he stressed that such disagreement should not warrant them to leave the group.

He urged politicians to emulate the political concept of the author of the book, former Governor of Yobe State and a serving Senator, Bukar Abba Ibrahim, adding that the book is an antidote to the rising vote-buying politics in the country.

The book, Poorlitics, is made up of two books; the first encapsulates the story of little Bukar growing up in a rich historical and culture of a feudal, colonial northern Nigerian village, how he fought against the odds and rose to become one of the most successful politicians in Nigeria.

The second contains records of the thoughts of Bukar on what true Progressive Manifesto should be to maximize development and progress.

Earlier, author of the book, Bukar Ibrahim, told the audience, particularly the youth that they don't actually need much money to run for political office.

The three time governor of Yobe State, who recalled how he was able to defeat moneybags and godfathers in 1991with just his N20,000 savings, urged the youths and others to cultivate the habitat of mingling with the grassroots "through practical, project-based and progressive political leadership.

He said, " With the people fully behind you, you do not need much money, thugs or godfathers to succeed in politics ".

Catholic Priest, Fr. Mbaka Reveals What Will Happen To Buhari, Senators, Reps

Posted: 23 Jul 2018 07:31 AM PDT

Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, the Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry, Enugu Nigeria, has warned President Muhammadu Buhari and members of the Federal Legislature of impending doom.

The fiery cleric gave the warning during his sermon at the Adoration Ground, Enugu State yesterday.

Mbaka advised President Buhari to travel to Rome where he would ask God's forgiveness for the blood of men of God and innocent men, women and children killed under his watch.

He said there will be disaster if leaders in the country, low and high, failed to ask God for forgiveness.

According to him, "From the councillor to the Igwe and everyone in the rank of leadership. To the people who called themselves Senators, who are busy messing up the country in the name of lawmaking and those who are hovering in the House of Representatives, who are they representing actually? They are representing the disaster that is coming.

"All of them should go the Bishops of this country and kneel down; lie down. President Buhari, if you don't do this, you'll know that a man of God has spoken.

Apologise to the mother church. (Buhari should) take them (other leaders in the country) to the nunciature, the Popes representatives are there, if you (Buhari) can't take them to Rome, and apologize for the blood of the holy men and women that were shed under your (Buhari) government.

"God can prophesy someone into a position. If you know how Nebucadnezzar became the President. He went there under prophetic order. When God wants to punish His people, He can use a leader. The Nebucadnezzar God later pushed into the bush."

Oshiomhole Says He Will Expel Ngige, Sirika From APC ; If........

Posted: 23 Jul 2018 07:04 AM PDT

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), has threatened to expel from the party, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige; and Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika, for their failure to inaugurate boards of parastatals under their ministries.

The APC Chairman, said when expelled, they will be booted out of the Federal cabinet as rebels as they will not have grounds to remain.

Adams Oshiomhole, while speaking to State House correspondents in Abuja on Monday after a meeting with the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, had said if the president could condone the indiscipline of ministers, he as a party boss, he cannot condone their disrespect for the party.

It could be recalled that on July 12, Oshiomhole wrote to the ministers  giving them a seven-day ultimatum within which to inaugurate all boards under their ministries or face the wrath of the party as according to him, their action was contrary to the position of the National Executive Council (NEC) and the subsequent presidential directives to all ministers, he added.

However the Minister of Labour, Dr Chris Ngige has in a reply to the APC Chairman's directives claimed he had reconstituted three boards out of the four agencies and parastatals under his ministry, but has not been able to constitute the board of NSITF because of cases of financial malfeasance, which have put the agency under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Asked about the ultimatum in respect if Ngige, the former Edo state governor explained: "If the minister refuses, we will suspend him from the party. You know we must return to internal discipline. For me, it is the height of mischief for any minister. You cannot purport to be an honourable minister and you act dishonourably and nobody is greater than the party.

You can also read: You Got Your Facts Wrong On NSITF - Ngige Tell Oshiomhole

"And if the President condones disrespect for his office, I will not condone disrespect for the party.

"And when we expel the minister, we will prevail on the president that he can't keep in his cabinet people who have neither respect for his own decisions nor have respect for the party without which they would not have been ministers.

"There are no independent candidates in our system. Nobody, I emphasise, no minister is above the party and they have taken undue advantage of the president's fatherly disposition.

"Now, it is the same green pen that made them ministers that appointed these boards that they are refusing to swear in. And it is absolutely illegal for a minister in a democracy to prey the powers of the board because the laws establishing those institutions are clear, that the boards have procedures to follow.

"So, when a minister sits in his office to appropriate the powers of the board in a democracy, not in a dictatorship, award contracts that didn't go through boards, those are clearly an abuse of office for which they are liable.

"I am convinced that what they are doing is not with the endorsement of Mr. President. Over the period they have tried to drop the president's name but I tell them it is the same authority that appoints these people.

"So, we are informing them that it is either they comply to the president's instructions or they comply with the party's position or they go and administer outside the government.

"We have respect for ministers but only to the extent that they recognize that they are a product of a political party and we are not negotiating that.

"If they did that in the past, under our leadership we will not tolerate it. They either comply or we will expel them from the party.

"When we expel them, we will find out how a government can keep a rebel in the cabinet. There is no question about that."

Akin Ogunbiyi Challenge Osun PDP Primary Result

Posted: 23 Jul 2018 05:45 AM PDT

Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi

Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi, one of the governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the just Osun State governorship primary election, has rejected the result of election conducted over the weekend, which gave the ticket to Senator Ademola Adeleke, the 'dancing Senator'.

According to the result, Adeleke defeated Ogunbiyi by seven votes.

Dr. Ogunbiyi had said he is not satistied with result, and disclosed that he would get the result reversed through the party's internal mechanism.

Ogunbiyi said:

"The outcome of that primary has been a subject of concern to a great majority of our party members who have been disappointed, disillusioned and confused by the conduct of the exercise and the results.

"Some of the major issues, which compromised the integrity of the exercise and made the results clearly unacceptable, include the non-adherence to the clear provisions of the electoral guidelines and unfortunate manipulation of the accreditation, voting, sorting and counting of the votes cast by delegates at the primaries.

"Consequent upon these infractions, therefore, the votes attributed to me at the end of the voting exercise were much lower than what I actually scored as valid votes.

"I have, therefore, resolved to use the internal mechanism of the party to seek an immediate redress of this clear case of injustice, which is contrary to the spirit of transparency and justice being propagated by the new leadership of our party, led by the National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.

"While this process is on, I wish to use this opportunity to thank leaders and members of our party who stood by me before, during and after the primary elections."

Ogunbiyi expressed appreciation to co-aspirants who stepped down for him and the delegates from the 332 wards who voted for him.

He assured them that "the mandate, which was freely given to me by majority of the delegates, will be reclaimed by the special grace of God".

You Got Your Facts Wrong On NSITF - Ngige Tell Oshiomhole

Posted: 23 Jul 2018 05:07 AM PDT

Dr. Chris Ngige

Dr. Chris Ngige, Nigeria, Nigeria Minister of Labour and Employment, has told Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), that he got his facts wrong, on the constitution and inauguration of the board members of federal agencies and parastatal under his ministry.

Recall that the APC chairman, in a letter, had given the labour minister one week within which to constitute the board of the parastatals and agencies under his ministry. The parastatals and agencies as stated in the letter; are the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), National Directorate of Employment (NDE), National Productivity Centre (NPC), and Michael Imoudu Institute for Labour Studies (MINILS).

Dr. Ngige, in responding, explained why he would not constitute the Board of NSITF within the one week ultimatum given by Oshiuomhole. He expressed disbelief that such a letter could emanate from the APC chairman. He said: "Our National Chairman, I am in receipt of a letter referenced APC/NHDQ/ GEN-S/28/018/003 dated July 11, 2018, which was sent from your office and received by me on July 12, 2018. Ordinarily, I would not believe the letter was from you except for the barrage of media statements that came before I saw the letter. I read the contents of this letter with both amazement and utter disbelief."

The Labour Minister however, said he had reconstituted three boards out of the four agencies and parastatals under his ministry, but has not been able to constitute the board of NSITF because of cases of financial malfeasance, which have put the agency under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

"Three agencies have been reconstituted and members were inaugurated on March 8, 2018, in conformity with a presidential directive. All the three boards are currently operational. The only agency left out was the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), which, before the directive, had been enmeshed in major issues of corruption, involving about N48 billion, comprising Federal Government and employers' contributions to the Employees' Compensation Fund, plus some non-remitted PAYE taxes, which were carted away through well perfected sleaze operation. This resulted in the agency coming under the EFCC's investigation/prosecution of members of the former board and some of her serving officials.

"An Administrative and Financial Panel of Enquiry was instituted with a presidential approval as a follow – up to the criminal investigations. This was followed by a House of Representatives Committee on Labour and Employment probe in March 2018, which is still ongoing.

"Comrade National Chairman, you are aware of this situation and you had broached this issue with me during your campaign period, when I visited your campaign office. Due to the fact that a lot of the information available to me as a minister are classified, I had told you that I will brief you later and, at our last meeting, during a function on Saturday, July 7, 2018, I had sought for an appointment for the next day, so I could brief you on the situation.

"I'm not oblivious of the fact that you are a very interested party in the matter because having served as chairman of the NSITF board before the last board, and as a former Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) president, you would be interested in the tripartite colouration of the board being maintained. More so, as labour still remains your base constituency. Mr. Chairman, a lot of the classified information from the EFCC, the Auditor-General of the Federation's "spot check" report for an organisation with an account that has not been audited for five years – 2013 – 2017, are not within your purview. In view of all these damaging reports, I had a presidential permission not to inaugurate this particular board at the time we did the others."

Moshood Olalekan Adeoti Abandons Osun APC

Posted: 23 Jul 2018 03:38 AM PDT

Alh. Moshood Olalekan Adeoti

Alh. Moshood Olalekan Adeoti, an All Progressives Congress APC, chieftain in Osun State, and one of the strongest governorship candidate in just concluded primary, from Iwo local government just tendered his resignation letter to exit the All Progressive Congress in Osun State.

The reason for his resignation is not very clear yet, but according to his letter, the APC big wig expressed his appreciation to the party members for their support to him while his membership in the ruling party.

Recall that the National Secretariat of the APC had adopted direct method of primary election which was alleged to have been skewed in favour of the cousin of the National leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, Gboyega Oyetola, who is also the Chief of Staff to Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Consequent upon this development, Adeoti withdrew from the direct primary election on the ground that he has lost confidence in the leadership of the party.

However Adeoti seem to have been adopted by the Action Democratic Party (ADP) as their governorship candidate, for the September 22nd 2018 gubernatorial election in the state.
