Federal Government's 3-prong Strategy; Perfected To Cage Saraki And Nail Him Exposed

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 04:35 PM PDT

Saraki
Bukola Saraki

According to this report by the New Telegraph Newspaper, the Federal Government led APC has mapped out three key strategies to nail the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, who recently defected from the ruling party APC, to the main opposition party, the PDP.

Read full report below as published by the New Telegraph:

These may not be the best of times for the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, as investigations by the Saturday Telegraph revealed that the Federal Government (FG) has concluded plans on a three-prong strategy to tame what is perceived as his growing political influence.

This is coming as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) confirmed that the FG and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) are shopping court orders to remove Saraki and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.

Checks by our correspondents showed that the Presidency has prepared a "perfect and solid arrangement" to nail Saraki who last week defected from the APC to the PDP with all elected officials and political appointees in Kwara State, making him the most prominent politician in the opposition.

The plans, according to credible security sources, will begin to manifest from next week, as sources familiar with the development confided in our reporters that a move that would shake the man in the eye of the storm had been perfected.

What is considered the most potent of the strategies is a "solid link" that had just been found allegedly between the Senate President and the Offa robbery suspects where during a daring operation, armed robbers killed 30 people, including nine policemen on April 5, 2018.

To achieve this, it was learnt that a Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) was detailed to take over the aspect of the investigation, which allegedly linked Saraki with some of the suspects.

The DIG was said to have unraveled the 'fresh evidence' that would make inviting Saraki more compelling, unlike previous reports that were considered not strong enough for his arrest and possible detention.

The current link between Saraki and the robbery suspects, which the prosecutors find not strong enough, is the confession of one of the suspects, Ayodele Akinnibosun, who claimed to be a political thug for Saraki and the state governor, Abdulfattah Ahmed.

He had said: "I am the chairman of Liberation Youths movement Kwara South. I work for Senate president and Governor Ahmed as political mobilising youth and we have been working for long time since he was governor of Kwara.

We mobilise and do political arrangement for him in Kwara South. Where we can't win, we make arrangement there; we scatter elections if we don't win."

Although the Senate President has consistently denied any involvement in the crime, the police was said to have worked on the "fresh and more convincing evidence" after the said DIG relocated to Ilorin last week to assemble the fresh evidence, preparatory to being used against Saraki.

The second of the threeprong strategy is to unleash a team of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the state, to begin another round of examination of the state's financial records from 2003 to date.

This, an insider confirmed, is already happening, noting that some operatives of the anti-graft agencies are already on ground in the state.

This effort is expected to yield enough material to secure convictions against Saraki and make Ahmed an accomplice so as to keep both of them imbalanced until after the election.

"Are you sure the EFCC guys are not already on ground in that state? We expect them to be there fully by now", one of the sources said.
But efforts to get the EFCC and the police to either confirm or deny the plans were not successful, as the telephone lines of the EFCC's Head of Media and Publicity, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, and that the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, were switched-off at the time of filing this report.

The third option according to the highly placed sources, is to create more confusion in the National Assembly where there are ongoing moves already to impeach Saraki and Ekeremandu.

An opposition lawmaker told Saturday Telegraph that the anti- Saraki senators would be more empowered to create a state of instability in the National Assembly worse than what Saraki has experienced so far.

This was subtly confirmed by Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who said Saraki would face drastic consequences.

Saraki's Plans To Impeach President Buhari – Mohammed Lawal

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 03:44 PM PDT

Bukola Saraki and Mohammed Lawal

Engineer Mohammed Lawal, the former Deputy Director of the Buhari Presidential Campaign Council,  has alleged Senate President, Bukola Saraki of plans to impeach President Muhammadu Buhari.

He warned those who think that Buhari was going to succumb to any form of intimidation to bury such thought.

According to Engineer Lawal, Bukola Saraki should have been thrown into jail for allegedly arming robbers, who were involved in the April bank robbery in Offa, Kwara State.

Lawal while speaking with the Sun Newspaper, disclosed that:

"Their grievance is that they wanted to be accommodated, and their grievance is not against the President. For example, the Senate President, Bukola Saraki wanted to be given the entire APC structure in Kwara State, and be given the party ticket and to return as the Senate President.

"Saraki is still the Senate President, while Abdulfatah Ahmed is still the governor of Kwara State, there has never been election in the state. They said it that during elections, Saraki shares money to ensure that he and his people win. This is what has been going on in Kwara. As far as he is concerned, he will use money to put his people.

"Look at the revelation coming out from the Offa bank robbery incident, where over 30 people were killed. The suspects confessed to the whole world that during elections, Saraki armed and gave them money to ensure his victory and that of his people.

"Obasanjo succeeded in undoing Jonathan, but he can never succeed against Buhari, and he knows. We are students of power, and if not because we don't want Nigerians to say that Buhari is not a democrat, it shouldn't have been like this. We would have moved against these people. We know that Saraki was planning to impeach the president. The chairman of the party arranged for them to see the president, after they have seen him, he turned back to frustrate the president and to undermine the party, and had already made up his mind on what he was going to do. We will see how far they can go, we have our own plan, and we are in power."

APC Lawmakers Offered N150m Each To Remove Saraki, Dogara – Timi Frank

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 03:08 PM PDT

Comrade Timi Frank

Comrade Timi Frank, the former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progresives Congress (APC), who recently resigned from the party, has revealed that the presidency and the leadership of the APC has plotted to induce its Senators, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly members with humongous cash to impeach the President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara.

According to the Vanguard, Frank who raised the alarm in a statement on Saturday in Abuja, also listed Governors Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Abdulfatah Ahmed and Samuel Ortom as having been marked for removal in the said plot.

He said while Saraki and the governors have been slated for removal for daring to defect from the APC to the opposition, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dogara is to be impeached for fear he may soon dump the APC as well.

Comrade Frank described the ongoing plot to illegally dispense state funds to carry out the unconstitutional removal of duly elected public officials as the height of impunity and corruption that has been prevalent in the present administration since inception in May 2015.

He said: Comrade Timi Frank Has Dumped The APC

"From available information, the Presidency in collaboration with the leadership of the APC is about to dole out the sum of $400,000 (about N150million) each to APC Senators and House of Representatives members to impeach Saraki who has defected to the PDP and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara – who they fear may soon dump the party as well.

"They are also offering legislators in some State Houses of Assembly the sum of $150,000 (about N50million) each, to impeach their Governors that recently defected to the PDP."

Frank revealed that the President has allegedly instructed the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to foot the bills to achieve the objective of removing the defectors from their present political positions.

"I have been reliably informed that after separate meetings with APC Senators and House of Representatives members, shortly before his U.K. trip, the President summoned the Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and after informing him that 'APC lawmakers have a proposal', he 'directed the GMD to attend to their needs.'

"I want Nigerians and members of the international community to note that this 'presidential order' is coming at a period when State Governors have incessantly complained, during their monthly Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) meetings in Abuja, about unexplained shortfalls in remittances of crude oil sales to the Federation Account by the NNPC.

"From this curious directive, it is now clear to Nigerians and the world at large, that the amount accruing to the Federation Account from monthly crude oil sales is being deliberately and illegally deducted at source and set aside by the NNPC – on the orders of the presidency – to fund illegal operations like their present desperate bid to remove Saraki, Dogara and Governors that recently dumped the APC.

"I am not surprised about this unholy cash inducements to lawmakers to do a dirty job because the Presidency and the APC recently conducted a dressed rehearsal of an inducement heist in Ekiti State during the 'see and buy votes saga' with which they allegedly rigged the Ekiti Governorship election in favour of the APC," he said.

He however warned the presidency and the APC to desist from their present plot to illegally remove Saraki, Dogara and affected Governors, that it may lead to chaos and anarchy capable of truncating democracy in the country.

He further said:

"Let me warn the Presidency and the leadership of the APC to desist from their present desperate plot to bribe some Federal and State legislators so as to force the illegal removal of Saraki, Dogara and Governors that recently dumped the APC.

"Let me also urge APC lawmakers to be circumspect about this unholy transaction as they will be risking the wrath of Nigerians should they yield to the inducements and attempt the illegality for which they are now being primed with loads of cash.

"Is it not curious that this illegal cash bazaar is being clandestinely orchestrated by a government that has visited untold hardship on Nigerians in the last three years?" he queried.

He pleaded with the international community to call the President and the leadership of the APC to order and also to prevail on them to stop their plan to illegally use state funds to truncate the nation's democracy.

"I also want Nigerians and members of the international community to jointly hold the presidency and the leadership of the APC responsible for any unintended consequences of their present action aimed at removing the leadership of the National Assembly and governors who recently switched allegiances from the APC to the opposition PDP," Timi said.

Frank further urged the APC lawmakers to reject such "blood money" aimed at violating their consciences and lowering their integrity, while calling on Nigerians to be extra vigilant in order to frustrate the current efforts of the Presidency and the APC to instigate chaos and anarchy in the National Assembly and some State Houses of Assembly, capable of truncating democracy in Nigeria.

IF APC Tries To Impeach Saraki, They Will Comprehend Our Strength – Aminu Tambuwal

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 12:01 PM PDT

Bukola Saraki and Aminu Tambuwal

The Sokoto State Governor,  Alh. Aminu Tambuwal sounded tough recently when he said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will resist any illegal move to impeach Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Last week Saraki officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the PDP, and some APC lawmakers and chieftains have asked him to resign as the Senate President, because he got the position under the APC.

On Wednesday, Adams Oshiomhole, APC National Chairman, said it is "a matter of honour" for Saraki to "leave the crown (senate presidency) in the house that the crown belongs to the APC."

The PDP caucus in the house of representatives also raised an alarm that some Senators were plotting to impeach Saraki through the backdoor.

In reaction to the threats, Governor Aminu Tambuwal, who defected also from the APC,  while speaking at the PDP National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Thursday, said any attempt to impeach Saraki unconstitutionally will harm Nigeria's democracy.

"When I hear that some people are trying to break into the chambers of the senate to steal the mace and install a pseudo president of the senate, I wonder whether they actually know the rules of our democratic engagement. It's not a Gestapo, we are in democracy," he said.

"If the senators have confidence in Bukola Saraki, they should continue to sustain him as president of the senate. And so be it with Mr. Speaker, Dogara.

"So, nobody should be afraid. There is a process. And we must respect due process and rule of law. And Nigeria is not a banana republic. We will not take it from anybody. Let them hear it very clear. If you try it, we will match out our forces in this country and jam you.

"Because we are talking about democracy. We cannot afford to allow anybody, no matter how highly placed, to toy with the future of about 200 million people in this country."

He also said if Saraki decided change his political party, there is nothing anybody can do about it.

"The constitution of this country is very clear that members of the senate and the house of representatives can choose from among themselves their own president of the senate or speaker without leaning to any political party," Tambuwal said.

Nigeria Business Owners To Get N10m Collateral Free Loans – VP Osinbajo

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 11:14 AM PDT

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, acting President, says the Federal Government is working towards providing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) a credit facility of N2 million to N10 million, that will come without collateral.

The acting President,  made the revelation at the maiden edition of the MSMEs Award 2018 held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.

Osinbajo said that in addition to the one-stop-shop launched in some states to carry the MSME clinics intervention, the Federal Government would soon launch its shared facilities for MSMEs initiative.

He further disclosed that the initiative would be in partnership with the Bank of Industry (BOI), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC).

"This initiatives will provide MSME access to fully equipped cluster style facilities for which they can pay an affordable fee to operate", NAN quoted him as saying.

"These facilities would have been pre-certified by relevant agencies like NAFDAC, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and NEPC thereby removing the layers of bureaucracy that in the past held back many aspiring entrepreneurs.

"In the shared facilities, you already have the requisite licences that regulate your operation. So, using the facilities means that you will not go through all the regulatory bureaucracies.

"We will also partner with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and commercial banks to launch a credit facility that will make available to MSME loans from N2m to N10m with a period of five to seven years with little or no collateral.

"The interest rate will be five percent. All that you need is to provide the committee with a bankable business proposal and guarantor," he said.

Why I Will Never Support Atiku’s 2019 Presidential Ambition – Olusegun Obasanjo

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 02:41 PM PDT

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and Alh. Atiku Abubakar

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, former President of Nigeria, has restated his position never to support Atiku Abubakar's presidential ambition for 2019. Atiku was his vice president from 1999 - 2003 under the PDP.

Obasanjo told Premium Times that God will not forgive him if he ever supports Atiku's presidential bid.

According to him, his position about Atiku will never change.

The former President said, "How can I be on the same side with Atiku? To do what?

"If I support Atiku for anything, God will not forgive me. If I do not know, yes. But once I know, Atiku can never enjoy my support. It is not a question of working with or not working with an individual. If you are working for the good of Nigeria, I am working with you. If you are not working for the good of Nigeria it does not matter who you are I am not working with you.
Atiku and Obasanjo
"Most of you do not understand the way I operate and I thought your own paper will understand better. I know Atiku very well. And I have mentioned my position with Atiku. My position has not changed.

"If my children are getting married, he sends representatives. If his children are getting married, I also send representatives. That is social. That is not political. But on political ground, my position has not changed.

"If I support Atiku for a political office other than the one I supported him in the past when I did not know him maybe, but not now that I know him, God will not forgive me."

Obasanjo and Atiku came into power in 1999 with Atiku serving as his Vice President. They started on a good note but later fell out after the former president accused Atiku of massive corruption.

Meanwhile, Atiku had declared his intention to run for president under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in 2019.

APC vs PDP; Senators Misau, Ibrahim Blast Buhari’s Supporters - Declares; Saraki Won’t Resign, Do Your Worst!

Posted: 04 Aug 2018 08:55 AM PDT

Senator Rafiu Ibrahim and Senator Isa Hama Misau

Senators Isa Hama Misau and Rafiu Ibrahim, the Senators representing Bauchi Central and Kwara South respectively, have warned their counterpart from Katsina South, Abu Ibrahim "and his other Senators in the All Progressives Congress (APC)" against fomenting any trouble when the Nigerian Senate resumes on September 25.

Both Senators declared that the Senate President Bukola Saraki will never resign from the position despite the calls from some quarters.

Recall, that recently Saraki came back to the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and supporters of President Muhammadu Buhari has been asking him to resign.

Misau and Ibrahim, on Saturday, said via a statement signed by both of them in reaction to a comment by Katsina Senator Abu Ibrahim, said he and his colleagues will meet their match if they tried anything illegal even with all the deployment of security forces which they might have been assured of by the executive arm of government.

See Senator Rafiu Ibrahim's tweet below:

The statement reads;

"It is obvious from the statements of Abu Ibrahim that he and his cohorts are not democrats. They do not believe in the rule of law, the provisions of the constitution, the standing order of the Senate, parliamentary procedure and the due process.

"How will a supposed democrat be threatening disruption of peace in the parliament because his party lost members and lost its majority status? His statements showed why one of them led thugs to disrupt the proceeding of the Senate, steal the mace, the symbol of authority of the legislature, and yet there is no consequence.

Read Also: What Saraki Has Done To Himself – Senator Adamu

"Both the mastermind and his thugs have been protected from being prosecuted. Now, Abu Ibrahim has given us an insight into what they are planning and we will be ready for them. He has also shown an indication of how he, as the chairman of the Police Affairs Committee, has been misusing the police against other Senators.

"APC should note that they are now the minority party. PDP has more members. When we resume, if they push us, we will move for a head count of members and change some of our principal officers to reflect party strength. Today, by the list paraded by APC themselves, they have only 48 Senators and PDP has 54, APGA has 2 and ADC has 2. There are two vacancies. That is the distribution in the Senate. Let them continue to deceive themselves.

"We will use our strength to defend the position of the present leadership of the Senate under Dr. Saraki and Senator Ike Ekweremadu. We will defend democracy and rule of law against the pretenders. We will show that every Senator represent different constituencies in our country.

"Our colleague from Katsina State has equally demonstrated that even though he has spent four terms in the legislature, he has not imbibed parliamentary ethos. Even his knowledge of the provisions of the law and the Senate rules is suspect.

"That is why he misrepresented the provisions of Rule 12 order 1, 2 and 3 of the Senate about the process of reconvening the Senate after it properly adjourned. By the provision, without all the leaders of the four parties initiating the reconvening of the Senate before the adjourned date, nothing can legally happen. Also without the consent of the Senate President, nothing can happen.

"We urge him and his colleagues to know that if they tried anything illegal and indecent, we will resist it through legal means. They saw an instance with the way our colleagues in the House of Representatives quickly gathered to foil their failed coup early this week.

"Abu Ibrahim and his cohorts have shown that they are desperate to win the 2019 elections at all cost by all means. We are surprised that this defection is making APC so uncomfortable that they are ready to bring the country down because some Senators left their party.

"We gave them all the opportunities to make amends from their destructive, non-inclusive and dictatorial ways. They did not take the chances and were behaving as if nobody matters. They are running a government by cabals, serving selfish interests and forgetting all the promises the party made to the people before being elected into office.

"The APC government has always demonstrated serious contempt for the legislature. That is why they have sent only a paltry 11 executive bills to the National Assembly in 38 months despite their promise of reform in various sectors of the country, The APC government came in 2015 and the first proposal they put forward was to have emergency powers in a democracy. Thank God we did not fall for their antics.

"We call on all Nigerians and the international community to take note of the threat by Abu Ibrahim and know that if there is any illegal move to reconvene the Senate or there is breakdown of law and order in the Senate, the man has leaked their plan."
