PDP Gubernatorial Primaries For Kano, Lagos, Imo Postponed

Posted: 29 Sep 2018 06:25 PM PDT

Prince Uche Secondus, PDP National chairman

......the new dates for gubernatorial primary election for Lagos, Kano and Imo states would be announced soon,"

The major opposition party in Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has been reported to have postponed the primary elections for Kano, Lagos and Imo States.

According to a statement signed by the party's spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, dispelled rumours that PDP had postponed the primaries nationwide, noting that the postponement only affected three states.

He said: "The attention of the National Working Committee (NWC) of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has just been drawn to rumour making the rounds that the PDP scheduled gubernatorial primary has been postponed.

"The PDP wishes to inform all delegates, members of our great party and aspirants for the gubernatorial election that the scheduled date for the primary remains Sunday, September 30, 2018.

"The rumour about the postponement should therefore be disregarded completely.

"However, the gubernatorial primary election dates for Lagos, Kano and Imo states would be announced soon," he added.

Meanwhile, the party did not give reasons for the postponement, but said a new date would be communicated, for the primaries of the three states.

BREAKING:- Nigerian Army Discovers Missing General Idris Alkali's Car, General Not Seen

Posted: 29 Sep 2018 07:26 PM PDT

General Idris Alkali(Rtd)

A Facebook user shared this heart touching news about the missing retired Army General. Read below:

I DONT LIKE DISCUSSING ..DEAD... RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES ON THIS MY FACEBOOK PAGE AT THIS JUNCTION HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO SHARE THIS POST ....NORTHERN NIGERIA'S WHY ARE WE DOING THIS TO OURSELVES...WHY ?

BREAKING NEWS - NIGERIAN ARMY FINDS MISSING GENERAL IDRIS ALKALI'S CAR

According to the Commander of the 3 Division of the Nigerian army and leader of the search and rescue mission, Brigadier-General Umar Mohammed, Major General Idris Alkali's Black Toyota Corolla, with registration number MUN 670 AA, has been retrieved from a pond in Jos.

The CUPS organisation drew the wrath of the Nigerian Army leadership, for suggesting two weeks ago (16/9/2018), that the car and body of the missing Major General, were seen inside a dirty pond in Jos.

So, fellow compatriots, we at CUPS have been clearly vindicated. We did NOT tell lies when we reported that Major General Idris Alkali had gone missing. We also did not tell lies when we reported that both his car and body were seen in a dirty pond in Jos.

The Army leadership responded to our publication by waging a violent campaign of vilification against CUPS. They organised bogus news conferences and issued worthless "Press Release", just to make us look bad!

What is left now is the recovery of the late General's body.

If we cannot trust the treacherous Nigerian Army leadership to successfully eliminate the Boko Haram insurgents due to corruption, we cannot possibly trust the same leadership to conduct a credible thorough investigation on the brutal murder of Major General Idris Alkali, a General who was revered for his anti-corruption stance.

It must be recalled that the late Major General specifically resigned from the Army, because he could not tolerate the rampant corruption and the satanic cultism that was going on at the highest level of the military hierarchy.

Nigerians at home and around the world demand a comprehensive forensics analysis of the yet to be retrieved body of Major General Idris Alkali, and his already retrieved car. At this point in time, it makes sense for the Federal Government to take over this investigation, in order to avoid the perversion of justice.

May God save Nigeria and Nigerians. Ameen.

Dr. Idris Ahmed.
CUPS.

This is sad!!!!!!!

A Minister In President Buhari’s Cabinet, Set To Go Back For NYSC

Posted: 29 Sep 2018 07:25 PM PDT

Adebayo Shittu

......I am willing to join fresh graduates in the scheme "if it becomes necessary"

Adebayo Shittu, Nigeria's Minister of Communications, has stated that he can still partake in the mandatory one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme.

Recall that recently, it was discovered that Shittu did not participate in the scheme, after graduating from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU), despite finishing school below the required minimum age of 30.

When the issue was raised in the media, the Minister had defended the act, saying his first political post after graduation as a member of the Oyo state House of Assembly, could suffice as national service.

Adebayo Shittu in an interview with Edumund Obilo, an Ibadan-based journalist, he said, he is willing to join fresh graduates in the scheme "if it becomes necessary".

Asked if he is willing to still serve, Shittu replied: "Of course I will go. It will be a pleasant thing to go, after I have been governor by the grace of God."

Obilo asked him "what camp would you like to serve in?", to which he responded: "Whichever camp. I will serve in any place if it becomes necessary for me to go. If it becomes necessary, I will."

Shittu, however, insisted his political service supersedes participating in the mandatory scheme.

"The courts would have to decide whether serving in the house of assembly and being minister is not superior and does not replace service in the NYSC.

"I am not Kemi Adeosun because I didn't have any forged certificate of exemption. She didn't forge, she was a victim of circumstance," he further added.

See Where Missing General Alkali’s Car Was Found

Posted: 29 Sep 2018 04:36 PM PDT

Maj-Gen. Idris Alkali's (rtd) car

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-Gen. Tukur Buratai's constituted Joint Task Force  has found the car belonging to Maj-Gen. Idris Alkali (rtd).

General Alkali had been declared missing since September 3, 2018.

The Nigerian Army, on Saturday, made the announcement via its official Twitter handle @HQNigerianArmy.

"Joint Task Force constituted by COAS Lt Gen TY Buratai comprising officers & soldiers from 3 Div Quick Response Team, Op Safe Haven, @PoliceNG #VIO @Fedfireng, as well as Local Divers have found the vehicle belonging to Maj Gen Alkali RTD at a pond in Lafendeg Du Plateau State," the tweet read.

However, the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) District Church Council Fellowship in Plateau State, has cautioned the Military Task-force to careful while tracing the whereabouts of Alkali, DAILY POST reports.

Its Chairman, Rev. David Laje, said "The Church is sounding the caution against the plans by the military to go to any length at tracing or otherwise the whereabouts of its retired top military officer who has not been seen or heard of since the last couple of days.

"Any act that could bring back the memory of the military action in Zaki Baim, Benue State, some years ago should be avoided at all cost."

APC Postpones Governorship Primary Elections For Imo & Lagos States, Lists Committee Members

Posted: 29 Sep 2018 03:31 PM PDT

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, APC National Chairman

… Inaugurates 21-member National Convention Committee

The governorship primary elections for Imo and Lagos States has been postponed by the ruling  All Progressives Congress, APC, to Monday, 1st of Oct.

The party's National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole,  announced this on Saturday in Abuja, while inaugurating the party's Governorship Primary Election Committee and the Presidential National Convention Committee.

The APC National Chairman, who attributed logistics for postponing the primary election in the two states, said it would hold on Sunday (tomorrow) in other states of the federation as earlier scheduled.

"We have decided to postpone the governorship primary election in Imo and Lagos states to Monday Oct.1, even though it is public holiday.

"There is nothing in the law that says we cannot conduct our party affairs on the day of public holidays.

"We are sure that we will be able to rectify logistic challenges between now and the end of tomorrow, " Oshiomhole stated.

Oshiomhole added that the party`s secretariat would get to the committees through its chairmen to hand over documents and all materials including ballot papers and result sheets they would use for the primary election.

He stated further  that no fewer than 177 governorship aspirants were currently jostling to get the party's tickets to contest governorship election in 29 states.

The Chairman, thanked the committee members for honouring the party's invitation at short notice and for accepting to serve it and the nation generally.

Oshiomhole, stressed that members of the committee had a duty to ensure that the core values of the party was adhered to, adding that they should remain neutral while carrying out their assignments.

He added that the party's leadership was doing everything possible to ensure proper security in states of the federation where the governorship primaries would be held.

Oshiomhole said the presidential national convention committee must reflect the ray of the future with gender balance.

"We want to organise a convention that is different. We want a convention that goes beyond electioneering, " he said.

He added that the national convention should discuss the Nigeria agenda, issues of governance, development and economic issues as well as social choices.

"Let us disagree and agree within that convention in addition to confirming the presidential candidate and maybe amend any section of the Constitution that we might want to.

Gov. Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo state, who is the chairman of the 21-member presidential national convention committee, thanked the party`s leadership for the opportunity to serve.

"I thank you for giving us the opportunity to participate in laying the foundation for our 2019 electoral victory, because if you see the quality of the foundation, you will know how the building will be.

"The foundation you have laid today is so solid that I have no doubt that we will succeed in 2019 election, " he said.

He stressed that the committee would not let the party down and assured that it would do its best to ensure that the party`s victory in 2019, was secured.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that while Kashim Shettima would serve as the committee Vice Chairman, Hadiza Bala Usman would serve as its Secretary.

Other members of the committee are Babatunde Fashola, Audu Ogbeh, Nasiru El-Rufai, Rochas Okorocha, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, Kayode Fayemi, Abubakar Bagudu and Mohammed Abubakar.

Godwin Obaseki, Simon Lalong, Sen. Emma Anosike, Hajiya Hauwa Sule, Timipre Sylva, Mr Sharon Ikeazor, Dr Ramatu Tijani, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Stella Okotete and Paulen Tallen are all members of the committee.

The presidential national convention had been fixed for Oct. 6 to ratify President Muhammadu Buhari as the party's presidential candidate for the 2019 election.

Echoes Of Osun Election, Dele Momodu Opens 'Can Of Worms', Reveals How PDP Abandoned Adeleke

Posted: 29 Sep 2018 10:38 AM PDT

Chief Dele Momodu, Politician and the publisher of Ovation magazine, former presidential candidate, has disclosed how the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, abandoned its candidate, Ademola Adeleke in the last governorship election in Osun State.

The publisher made this known in a statement on Saturday and also outlined the best strategy for the PDP, if it desires to win the presidency in 2019.

Momodu added that no candidate from the core north can compete against, and defeat, President Muhammadu Buhari simply on the basis that he is from the core north, DAILY POST reports.

The publisher cum politician's statement reads:

"What transpired in the State of Osun, as my dear brother, the Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, loves to refer to our State, was not a gubernatorial, but prelude to presidential election. The interest and resources galvanised for that election demonstrated that it was a civil war and not a civilised election.

READ ALSOJUST IN: OsunRerun: UK, EU, US Observers Rate The Governorship Election Rerun

"The election was seen and executed as a referendum on the tenure of President Muhammadu Buhari and its wobbly government.

"While the ruling party appeared determined or maybe 'desperate' is the appropriate word, to win, the main opposition party looked jazzed and disinterested.

"But for the merciful interventions of former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the President of the Nigerian Senate, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki, the PDP candidate, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Adeleke, could as well have been a virtual orphan. It was that bad.

"What manner of opposition would sit at home, arms akimbo, after seeing how the President, Vice President, Governors, Ministers and party Chieftains all invaded, and flooded, Osun as if their lives depended on it?

"I fail to understand how PDP can parade over a dozen presidential aspirants yet only few of them are showing irrevocable commitment to serious party matters while the rest are only pursuing personal agenda.

READ ALSOOmisore Opt To Reinforce APC For Osun Rerun (Video)

"Adeleke was just lucky to be blessed with a family that had the means to fund his campaign and in particular a megastar, David Adeleke (aka Davido), who unleashed his monstrous talent on the campaign.

"The ways of politicians are certainly not the ways of ordinary mortals. I could not believe how they turned Osun into a theatre of war because of a few thousand votes. I thought that, by now, Nigeria had passed this disgraceful and embarrassing stage.

"I have no doubt that APC merely used the elections in Ekiti and Osun as dress rehearsals of what to expect in next year's general elections. I don't see the APC apparatchik agreeing to vacate power without a truculent fight.

"Many people, Nigerians and non-Nigerians have come to the incontrovertible conclusion that what we currently have is an army of occupation and we should accept our fate with equanimity.

"But no country can afford not to have a virile opposition. This is why it is sad and tragic that those who were in opposition only yesterday are perpetrating the same unfortunate acts we collectively rejected and dismissed not too long ago.

"The PDP that should fight back stoutly to give a good fight is already gasping for breath because of multiple ambitions of individuals who may choose to turn coat at the drop of a hat.

"From the multitude of PDP aspirants and even the cacophony of permutations about who can challenge Buhari to a duel, it is becoming clear, to discerning minds, that there are only two, possibly three serious challengers and no more. Of these three, two currently stand tall.

READ ALSOOsun Rerun: INEC Frowns At Beating, Arrest Of Journalists By Security Agents; Says 'It's Troubling

"One is old and the other is young. It seems patently obvious, from the recent shenanigans that we have seen that President Buhari and his people would do everything humanly possible to avoid confronting either of these two candidates at the polls next year.

"Moving on, let me say with every emphasis I can muster, no candidate from the core North can compete against, and defeat, Buhari simply on the basis that they come from the core North. It is practically impossible.

"The jejune argument that PDP should pick a candidate who can divide the core Northern votes is either a joke carried too far or a deliberate decision to hand power back to the incumbent on a platter of gold.

"What the PDP needs urgently is a candidate who can explode its votes in the entire South and the North Central. This does not necessarily mean such a candidate should come from these regions, but it would be ideal. A candidate with cross-over appeal from the North East and North West would also do well provided he does not believe that his place of origin means he should concentrate his effort in that region or adjunct region.

"PDP should forget the pipe dream of competing favourably against Buhari in the North East and North West. He has consistently won overwhelming in those two regions. However, if President Buhari can be restricted to those two zones while opposition locks down the other four zones of the country, then the prospects of the opposition PDP resoundingly beating the APC candidate becomes much brighter.

"70 percent of the electorate are under the age of 45. Opposition requires a candidate who can readily galvanise a multitude of first-time voters. Nigeria is long overdue for a candidate in the mould of Barack Obama, an energetic and cosmopolitan leader. Politics as a game of numbers must be approached meticulously.

"Buhari has stupendous State appurtenances and resources to deploy, his opponent must have access to similar armoury or have sufficient wherewithal to match the substantial resources of State and not be a scavenger in search of morale, audacity and finance. I'm not sure about what the third force can produce. I have expressed this publicly and privately.

"I think the toughest opposition can still come from PDP if it can rescue itself from certain interests and manage to pick a kamikaze candidate who is not docile and who is ready to fight all the way with everything at his disposal.

"No meek or lily-livered gentleman can fight and conquer Buhari next year. The lesson to pick from Osun, while litigation processes are being cooked, is that the next Presidential election is not going to be the stuff of conventional warfare. A serious opposition must prepare for the use of ballistic and anti-ballistic missiles. This is the reality of what to expect."

Buhari Scores Again, As 2,931,235 Members Vote Him In Kano APC Presidential Primary Election

Posted: 29 Sep 2018 09:57 AM PDT

President Buhari with Massive crowd.

President Muhammadu Buhari has reportedly scored 2,931,235 votes in total at the just concluded All Progressives Congress, APC, Presidential Primary Election conducted in 44 local Government Areas of Kano State, which has 484 wards.

The Kano State Governor,  Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who is also the Chief Returning Officer for the election, announced the result that Buhari scored a total of 2,931,235 votes from party members, who participated in the exercise and all signified their interest for Buhari to return.

The Governor, who was highly elated by the massive turn out of members of the party, reiterated its commitment to give President Muhammadu Buhari over 5 million votes in the forthcoming 2019 general election.

Ganduje said, "With these figures of over five thousand votes from my ward, Ganduje ward at Dawakin Tofa local government, which only come from APC card carrying members, is indicative to the fact that our promise of over 5 million votes to our dear President in 2019 election is tenable and realisable."

"People should understand that, when the general election comes around apart from our APC members that would vote for the continuation of President Buhari regime, many more others who belong to other parties would join the queue.

Not only that, even those that do not belong to any political parties, but have their permanent voters card will opt for him also," he declares.

Ganduje added that, the conduct of direct primaries was intended to provide enabling environment for maximum political participation, insisting that, "This also shows how we are solidly behind President Muhammadu Buhari in strengthening democracy at all levels", the NATION reports.

"The turnout is encouraging. With this therefore I am calling on our people to come en mass and vote for Buhari come 2019 general election. Kano state is always ready to continue to support him," Ganduje stated.

The Governor expressed his satisfaction over the peaceful conduct of the presidential primary election, as witnessed in all the 44 local government councils of the state.

"Party leadership should be commended for the peaceful conduct of this direct primary election in our state, all in an effort to further deepen democratic process. This will go a long way in ensuring all Nigerians that our party is all out for strong internal democracy," he further stated.

Ganduje however, called on the party leadership to maintain the good tempo witnessed from the presidential primary election that took place across all the 36 states of the federation including the federal capital territory, Abuja. "I need to acknowledge and appreciate the good conduct of our party members during this election," he added.

Aisha Alhassan, alias Mama Taraba

Mrs. Aisha Alhassan, alias Mama Taraba, Nigeria's Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, is set to dump the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to the United Democratic Party, UDP.

According to a report by Punch, Mama Taraba resigned her appointment as a Minister on Friday morning.

An aide to Alhassan, who pleaded anonymity gave this hint.

The report added that Aisha, was said to be waiting for President Muhammadu Buhari's response before joining the UDP.

Although, the media aide to Alhassan, Bala Maina, told the Punch that the resignation remained a speculation and that the former minister would react at the appropriate time.

He said, "We can't say anything for now, but note that the masses own the party and we shall always align ourselves with their verdict."

The report of Alhassan's resignation and move to join the UDP follows the decision of the National Working Committee of the APC to disqualify her from running in the Taraba State governorship election on its platform.

During the week, the APC made announcement of the disqualification of Aisha Alhassan and the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu from contesting under the party platform in their governorship primaries.
