The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is one of the 12 regional reserve banks in the United States, along with the Board of Governors in Washington, D.C., that make up the nation's central bank. The Seventh Federal District is made up of five states, which includes all of Iowa and most of Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin. The Seventh District comprises a considerable part of the nation's manufacturing base – especially capital goods and consumer durables as well as production agriculture and food processing. Internship Program Details The Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago Summer Intern Program is a paid internship that provides undergraduate, graduate and PHD students with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience at the Federal Reserve Bank. Through project oriented hands on assignments and professional development activities, interns receive a solid overview of the business of the Fed while contributing to their designated Bank department. The Summer Intern Program begins in June and continues for 12 consecutive weeks. Interns are expected to work 40 hours per week and assigned to one department for the summer. Application Process

Posted: 04 Oct 2018 07:28 AM PDT The Office of Economic Policy, U.S. Treasury Department is currently looking for college students interested in Economics or Public Policy for our SPRING 2019 internship session. Our program runs year round with three sessions: January through May, May through August, and September through December. Our program is about substance. Interns are generally assigned a long-term research project as well as smaller projects. They are also expected to attend Congressional Hearings and think tank lectures and presentations and summarize these events for the Assistant Secretary and other senior level economists. Candidates should have strong writing skills, be able to work independently, be well organized and highly motivated. Interns are expected to work between 30 and 40 hours a week. There is some flexibility in the work hours if you are taking classes while in D.C. Our intern positions are unpaid. Under some circumstances, we do provide a subway subsidy to help defray commuting expenses. Job Announcement: Research Assistant with CEPR Posted: 04 Oct 2018 06:04 AM PDT The Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) has an immediate opening for a Research Assistant. This is a full-time, Washington, DC-based position. Job Description: The primary job responsibility is working with large individual-level datasets and related statistical programming. Other responsibilities include collecting and analyzing data from print and electronic sources, and preparation of charts, tables, literature reviews, and summaries of background material for broader research projects. The position involves maintaining and updating CEPR's collection of large microdata sets at CEPRdata.org (including the CPS, ACS, PUMS, and others). Research Assistants are also typically responsible for helping in the design and execution of research projects, including the description of data sources, datasets, and research results, and preparation of accurate and organized drafts of technical reports. The focus of the work is labor market issues, including domestic social policy. Qualifications: Successful candidates will possess a bachelor's or master's degree in economics, sociology, statistics, or a related field, and an interest in economic justice. Experience writing programs in statistical software such as Stata or R is essential (experience with Stata is preferred). Candidates should have a strong knowledge of statistics and basic econometric techniques; experience as a research assistant or performing similar work; knowledge of standard word processing, spreadsheets, and graphics software; and excellent oral and written communication skills.
