What Buhari Said About Fayose During Fayemi’s Swearing-In & 2019 Election

Posted: 17 Oct 2018 01:29 PM PDT

President Muhammadu Buhari

At the swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Tuesday, President Muhammadu Buhari, expressed his confidence in new Governor's ability to deliver democratic dividends in Ekiti State.

President Buhari, who was represented at the swearing-in event by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mustapha Boss, said Fayemi as a former member of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), had persistently been disturbing him about the development of the state.

The President also slammed the Ayodele Fayose's regime over "lost grounds" and pleaded passionately with Ekiti voters over his re-election bid in 2019, promising to carry out certain projects.

Buhari said: "I know Dr. Fayemi very well; he has always cherished anything that has to do with the development of this state. As Ekiti State governor between 2010 and 2014, he instituted some laudable projects that impacted positively on the lives of the people and this pavilion was one of them.

"I know that he will do what is right to justify this mandate. I charge him not to relent in his efforts to serve the state with passion, commitment and candour.

"The federal government has given supports to states in the areas of bailouts, budget support, ecological funds and Paris club refunds, of which Ekiti State was a beneficiary.

"We have extended the standard rail project to Ekiti State and the construction of the federal secretariat will soon be completed. The federal government is also planning to dualise Ado-Akure road and reconstruct Ado-Ikare road for the use of our people. We have also built another 133kva power source in the state that will be inaugurated soon.

"As of today, 11,000 Ekiti indigenes are benefiting from the N-power programme of this administration.

"We are confident that Fayemi will help cover the lost grounds brought by past administration. From today, you will begin to have a new breath in the state under the present government", Buhari stated.

EFCC: Buhari, APC Under Fire For Fayose's Detention

Posted: 17 Oct 2018 12:59 PM PDT

President Muhammadu Buhari

A former aide to ex-President, Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has berated President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, APC, for the detention of former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

Fayose, who reported to the EFCC office in Abuja yesterday, has been kept in detention following his refusal to refund the fund he allegedly got from the Office of the National Security Adviser.

Omokri wondered why the anti-graft agency would detain Fayose while Gov. Ganduje, who was recently caught on camera allegedly taking bribe, was still moving freely, Daily Post reports.

He tweeted, EFCC DETAINS Fayose, but APC RETAINS Ganduje.

"That is Buhari's Nigeria for you. If APC members forge certificates, they are escorted to the airport to escape, like Kemi Adeosun.

"But if you are a PDP member, the police will escort you to court, like Senator Adele."

Arkwright said, "I've heard that this is an anti-corruption measure, it's not for me to say who should or should not be on the list. But what I would say is that it's very important in continuing this fight against corruption and rooting out corruption where it is happening".

He however, refrained from commenting on the travel ban on 50 Nigerians by the Federal Government.

The Diplomat stressed the need for peaceful and credible elections in 2019, adding that free, fair and credible election was important for political stability in the country.

BREAKING: Fayose Locked Up By EFCC(Full Details)

Posted: 17 Oct 2018 11:52 AM PDT

Ayodele Fayose

The former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, has been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
"I can confirm to you that he has been detained. We entered the EFCC with him but we were asked to go later. But up till now, he is still with them and he has been rendered incommunicado," his spokesman, Lere Olayinka told newsmen.

Recall that at 12:59 p.m on Tuesday, Fayose arrived the premises of the EFCC, accompanied by Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, a former minister of aviation, Femi Fani Kayode, human rights activist, Deji Adeyanju, and a legal team led by a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mike Ozhekome.

Clad in a pair of jeans trousers and a blue T-shirt with the bold inscription, 'EFCC I'M HERE!' he slung a complementary blue bag across his shoulder, supposedly containing his personal effects, PoliticsNGR.

Fayose told reporters: "I am here, in line with my promise that I will be here on the 16th of October, like I said to the EFCC to await my arrival. This morning, they came to my house. They cordoned off my street, which I feel personally is unnecessary and unwarranted. When a man says he is coming, he should be given the benefit of the doubt. I have left Ekiti, so whatever they need to ask today, I will be able to respond appropriately."

Earlier yesterday, he tweeted: "In few minutes, I will be at the EFCC Old Office, Wuse 2, Abuja. I'm a man who stands by his words and I hope that after today, those President Buhari's men that have been accused of corruption will also be bold enough to submit themselves to the EFCC."

While the scene played out, a group of placard-carrying women, who identified themselves as Widows of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stormed the premises, saying the former governor must not be detained.

The anti-graft agency wants Fayose to explain his role in the alleged receipt of N1.2 billion from a former national security adviser, Sambo Dasuki.

BREAKING: A Member Of The House Of Assembly Dumps PDP For APC

Posted: 17 Oct 2018 11:09 AM PDT

Engr. Otobong Ndem

In a major realignment of forces in Mkpat Enin, one of the largest local government areas in Akwa Ibom State, the Member representing the area in the House of Assembly, Engr. Otobong Ndem, on Tuesday, defected from the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives' Congress (APC) with hundreds of his supporters.

PoliticsNGR gathered that Ndem announced his defection when he led a delegation of his supporters in several buses on a solidarity visit to the Akwa Ibom State APC Gubernatorial Candidate, Mr. Nsima Ekere, at the latter's country home in Ikot Oboroenyin, Edemaya, Ikot Abasi Local Government Area.

Among the defectors on the delegation were the Mkpat Enin PDP Local Government Chapter Deputy Chairman, Mr. Ukonsek Ukonsek, the Secretary, Comrade Ubong Kingsley, the Youth Leader, Mr. Ime Inoh, and some other members of the Chapter Executive Committee, a former Chapter Chairman, Chief Friday Ayara, a former Chapter Secretary, Comrade Umoren Umoren, a former Member of the State House of Assembly, Mr. Ini Brown Ekanem, a former Chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government, Dr. Imowo Udobia, a former Vice Chairman of the local government, Mr. Godwin Udofot, and a former Leader of the Local Government Legislative Council, Mr. Friday Okobo.

Ndem said, with their defection, the PDP structure in Mkpat Enin, the local government area with the highest number of wards (14) in the state, had collapsed totally into the APC.

He assured Ekere of huge votes from the area, saying, "With the votes of Mkpat Enin, you will be strolling into Hilltop Mansion. We believe in you because you are one of our own. We have no reason not to support you. We are here because we see the future of Akwa Ibom State. We want to end tortoise politics in Akwa Ibom State. We are not prepared to support you from behind. We are not ready to play submarine politics. We are ready to support you openly."

Also speaking, Ukonsek described their delegation as the "crack team" of Mkpat Enin politics, promising that "we will show the world that we own Mkpat Enin" when they hold a formal defection ceremony at home soon.

Responding, Ekere expressed delight that the wind of change had reached Mkpat Enin which shares the federal constituency with his local government area, Ikot Abasi.

He reasoned that at the rate the wind of change was spreading across the state, the APC was heading for a 90 per cent win in the 2019 elections.

Ekere, who is the Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), pointed out that there were several ongoing NDDC projects in Mkpat Enin under his watch and promised to do more for the area as NDDC boss and subsequently as Governor.

In her remarks, the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Lady Valerie Ebe, who defected to the APC last month, commended Ndem for acting in wisdom and courage, adding that she saw it coming.

Her words: "Right from the day I defected, I knew this would happen. I am not surprised. When I left, I knew you will all follow me. The people of Mkpat Enin are itching to support you (Ekere). Nobody should call himself a political junction. We have to follow a straight line."

Ebe rejected claims that she was supporting Ekere to be Governor to enable her succeed him as NDDC boss: "I am working for the success of my son (Ekere) here. I am not looking for position. We don't want any position."
The APC Akwa Ibom South Senatorial Chairman, Dr. Inyang Dan-Abia, who represented the State Chairman, said he was impressed with the quality of members of the delegation who he described as foot-soldiers that have determined Mkpat Enin politics over the years.

He lauded them for coming to support Ekere who he eulogized as "a world-class successful businessman and administrator and a man who is well-exposed in the management of resources."

Present during the visit were the APC Deputy Gubernatorial Candidate, Dr. Amadu Attai, the APC House of Assembly Candidate for Mkpat Enin State Constituency, Prince Iboro Ekpo, the APC State Assistant Legal Adviser, Barr. Inyang Udo, the Mkpat Enin APC Caucus Chairman, Apostle John Okoriko, the Special Assistant to the NDDC Managing Director on Administration and Human Resources, Pastor Udo Isaiah, the immediate past Member of the House of Representatives for Ikot Abasi/Eastern Obolo/Mkpat Enin Federal Constituency, Dr. Akpan Micah Umoh, and a former Chairman of Ikot Abasi Local Government, Prince Enobong Ufot.

JUST IN: Saraki, Akpabio Clash In The Senate As Fight Nearly Broke Out

Posted: 17 Oct 2018 10:10 AM PDT

President, Bukola Saraki and Senator Godswill Akpabio

The Red Chambers of National Assembly, almost turned to a fight arena earlier today after Senate President, Bukola Saraki clashed with Senator Godswill Akpabio over sitting arrangement.

It was gathered that the Senate became rowdy after Senator Godswill Akpabio called for recognition to speak but was refused by Saraki, PoliticsNGR reports.

Saraki refused him on the grounds that he could not speak using another Senator's microphone. Akpabio changed seating position after his defection from the PDP to the APC. His new seat had no Microphone.

Akpabio stood up to speak shortly after the Chairman, Senate Committee on Gas, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Akwa Ibom North East, had raised the alarm of alleged plans by the APC in the State to cause mayhem and to ensure that the 2019 general elections do not hold in the state which has before now adjudged one of the most peaceful states in the country.

Saraki refused Akpabio to use the Microphone of the former Senate leader, Senator Ali Ndume adding that there was no way he would be allowed to raise any issue there.

This led to an eruption of shouts and fiery exchanges between the senators. The situation was later brought under control by DSP Ike Ekweremadu and Saraki.

2019 Election: See How Wike’s Plan To Become Tambuwal’s Vice President, Hand Over To Abe Failed – Eze

Posted: 17 Oct 2018 07:50 AM PDT

Nyesom Wike and Magnus Abe

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Rivers state, has alleged that Nyesom Wike, the Governor of the State's attempt to destroy the party became pronounced after his bid to become Governor Tambuwal's vice failed.

Eze said that Senator Magnus Abe has been working hard to destroy the APC having been promised by Wike to take over as Governor in 2019.

He said that Wike was venting his frustration on the APC after he failed to install Tambuwal as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who had allegedly promised to make him his vice.

According to Eze, in a statement he personally signed and forwarded to DAILY POST, on Tuesday, the recent court judgement nullified the indirect governorship primary that produced Tonye Cole as the party's standard bearer and ceaseless peddling of falsehoods immersed with propaganda were handiwork of Abe and Wike "mainly targeted to ridicule Pastor Tonye Cole, the flag-bearer of APC in the 2019 general elections."

Eze further alleged, that the plot was hatched by the duo to weaken APC in the state, ensure it has no candidate to fly its governorship flag next year and secure an effortless victory for Wike to continue as governor of the state.

"Sadly, Wike found solace in the political misfortune of Senator Magnus Abe whose political blunder have placed him in quagmire and awkward situation to be used as a destructive tool to achieve what is currently happening in Rivers State today," he noted.

"The plot became more pronounced, important and a do-or-die project for the duo immediately Governor Wike's scheme to become the vice presidential candidate of the PDP failed with the failure of the Sokoto's state governor, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal, to clinch the presidential ticket of the party then the plot for easy clinching of a second term for Wike and to pass the baton on to Magnus Abe in 2023 becomes deadly and imperative.

"This has resulted to the desperation by the duo and their misguided aides that cajoles up all sort of funny and falsehoods in order to ruin the person and personality of a world respected and renowned figure like Pastor Tonye Cole the divinely anointed next Governor of Rivers State come 2019.

"The devious plot will surely run into the rocks as the coming of Tonye Cole wasn't man-made but divinely set up to rescue Rivers State from the hands of confused elements whose major aim is to loot the common patrimony of Rivers State with impunity and ensure insecurity as a means of governance.

"This notwithstanding, the fact remains that if this plot is not arrested now and those involved in the devious moves punished accordingly, it might snowball into a political crisis, which may affect the 2019 elections in the State.

Eze, a former Spokesperson of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, also condemned the protest by some persons allegedly identified as supporters of Senator Abe, on Friday, at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja.

He continued, "What is the essence of the protest after Senator Abe and his misguided group were celebrating the judgement that placed Rivers State as a laughing stock before the International community indicating that the so called judgement has no bearing or effect on with the State structure of the party or the election of Pastor Tonye Cole as the APC Flag-Bearer or any candidate of the party in the 2019 general elections.

"I note with happiness that not minding all these unwarranted distractions by Abe, the APC Rivers state Chairman, Ojukaye Amachree has presented candidates of the party with their certificate of return and INEC form CF1 for the 2019 general elections", he said.

Eze commended the National Working Committee, NWC, for "appealing against Justice Chinwendu Nworgu unfortunate judgement to demonstrate that Wike and Abe evil partnership will not stand."
