2019 General Election: See What Mustapha, SGF Told Christians To Do

Posted: 28 Oct 2018 12:54 PM PDT

Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation

Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, has told Christians to vote according to biblical values in the 2019 general elections.

The SGF said Christians should vote credible and patriotic leaders in 2019.

Mustapha spoke at the Northern Christian youths Economic and Political Summit on Saturday in Abuja.

According to the SGF, voting was more than just a fundamental right in the country's democracy, but, "also a core part of civic responsibility in shaping the kinds of communities they would want to live in."

Mr. Boss said that voting is not just how the youths make their voices heard, but the first step in becoming more civically engaged and aware of the community around them.

"If every Christian will vote according to biblical values, we can change the future of our nation.

"Let's come together in taking a stand for righteousness so we can continue to be one nation under God," he said.

"If you are thinking that some group of people have made it impossible for you to excel in life by limiting yourself then, you are your problem.

"You just have to erase such from your minds so you can make meaningful progress in this nation.

"The main purpose of salt is for preservation and until we preserve and protect our land there would not be meaningful development in the land.

"We all have the spiritual mandate to bring the challenges of this nation to an end.

"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

"In this simple verse, we see established a rule, or standard, composed of two alternatives.

"There is no middle ground. There are two causes, each with its own effect.

"The target of this phrase is no specific nation, but its meaning clearly applies to all nations, and that includes Nigeria.

"Therefore, it is important for us, as Nigerians, to measure ourselves, especially in these challenging times.

"We should ask ourselves which of these two causes we now embrace, whether righteousness or sin," he said

Fashola Under Attack By Bode George For Saying South West Would Produce President In 2023

Posted: 28 Oct 2018 12:39 PM PDT

Chief Olabode George

Chief Olabode George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to a statement made by Mr Babatunde Fashola, SAN, Nigeria's Minister of Power, Works & Housing, that a vote for President Muhammadu Buhari by the South West would guarantee the zone the Presidency in 2023.

Bode George, speaking to newsmen in Lagos, urged Fashola to leave the issue of who becomes President in 2023 and focus on improving infrastructure in the country, NAN reports.

Fashola had on Thursday said if the South West vote for Buhari in 2019, they would produce the next president in 2023.

Reacting, George urged Fashola to repair bad roads in the country urgently rather than postulating about 2023.

He noted that the two major roads leading to the Lagos ports were in a deplorable state and urged the minister to focus on fixing those roads in view of their importance to the economy.

He said: "Fashola is the Minister of Works. Look at the key major roads from the ports, they are in deplorable state and these roads are the gateway to the nation's economy.

"It costs a container to be moved from Apapa ports to Tin- Can to Ikeja N1million. Just one container and that is what it will cost the same container from Shanghai in China to Lagos.

"So, the minister needs to fix those roads now instead of postulating about 2023. These roads have not been maintained for years.

"If goods cannot come out fast from the ports, it will affect those who are buying and selling and if things cannot go into the ports for export, how would people make money.

"Fashola should be concerned about fixing these roads before May 2019 because he would come back someday to give account to the people."

WAEC: Why Buhari Should Be Disqualified From 2019 Presidential Election - Femi Fani-Kayode

Posted: 28 Oct 2018 12:16 PM PDT

Chief Femi Fani-Kayode and President Muhammadu Buhari

A former Aviation Minister, and a Chieftain of the major opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, on Saturday stated reasons, why President Muhammadu Buhari should be disqualified from the presidential race over his inability to present his credentials.

FFK said Buhari's failure to present his credential to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, "automatically makes him ineligible" to run for a second term as President.

In a successive tweets, via his official verified Twitter handle,  Fani-Kayode stated that Nigeria has laws which must be respected by citizens, and it should start from the President, Daily Post reports.

Fani-Kayode wrote: "The ominious, specious and shortsighted suggestion that we should overlook the fact that President Buhari does not have a WAEC certificate which automatically makes him ineligible to run for the Presidency is disingenious, erroneous and morally indefensible.

"I say this because our country is not a lawless jungle or a zoo. There are rules and regulations when it comes to the issue of running for public office and these rules and regulations need to be strictly adhered to and honored by everyone, including the President.

"50 presidential candidates presented their certficates to INEC successfully and Buhari was the only one that was unable to do so. Is this not a recklesss display of sheer and brazen impunity and an irresponsible expression of utter contempt for the rule of law on the part of Buhari?

READ ALSOUPDATES: 'The Military Have Lost Buhari's Certificates' - Femi Adesina

"The question is why should he be exempted from presenting his certificate? Is he above the law? If a man cannot come clean about his educational qualifications and instead insists on peddling the fallacious and pernicious lie that the Army has them in their custody.

"(An assertion that the the Army have now denied)can that man be trusted with the destiny of a nation? He got away with it four years ago and those that said at the time that they were ready to support him even if all he had was a NEPA certificate are now regretting it bitterly.

"Are we prepared for another four years of this patently and manifestly fraudlent behaviour and constant breach of the most basic rules? Unless he presents those certificates the President is not eligible to run. We are not talking about the submission of affidavits, we are talking about the submission of the certificates themselves or certified true copies of them. Anything short of the presentation of either of the two to INEC is unacceptable and unlawful and it means that his candidacy is null and void.

"This matter is a question of morality, honor, decency and law. On all four counts, Buhari has failed and he shall forever be damned and convicted in the hearts and minds of the Nigerian people for subjecting us to the horrendous indignity of being saddled with a President that has no basic education and that thrives on deceit, double-speak, subtefuge and mendacity. Nigeria deserves far better. Buhari must go."

UPDATES: 'The Military Have Lost Buhari’s Certificates' - Femi Adesina

Posted: 28 Oct 2018 11:32 AM PDT

Femi Adesina

President Muhammadu Buhari's, spokesman, Femi Adesina, says the military had admitted losing President Muhammadu Buhari's certificate.

Adesina was quoted as saying the issue is dead and those still discussing it are "idle".

Buhari had failed to submit his academic certificates to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), claiming it is still with the military.

The president's claim had triggered a controversy on the matter, with some Nigerians insisting he must present his credentials.

Adesina, however, said those raising the issue are the opposition parties whose defeat is "imminent" ahead of the 2019 elections.

"The certificate saga is a dead issue, only idle people will consider it. It is something that had been laid to rest before the 2015 general elections," Adesina was quoted as saying.

"Those raising the issue are idle and they have run out of ideas. They see defeat staring them in the face and they are desperate to cling to any straw. This issue was resolved before the 2015 election."

He said when Buhari and some of his colleagues joined the military, their original certificates were taken from them.

"The military knew where they kept the original certificates of the president. In fact, a former chief of defence Staff, Gen. Alani Akinrinade, corroborated that the military collected the original certificates of all its officers," he added.

"The military already said they lost the certificates. But does it mean that it did not exist that the president went to school, sat for examinations and passed; attended military courses and War College?

"It does not change the fact that the president rose through the ranks to become a major-general in the Nigerian army and a military head of state.

"Didn't those opposed to president Buhari go to court over his certificate and lost before? They will still lose this time around. It is a dead issue."

However, TheCable reached out to Texas Chukwu, army spokesman, to react to Adesina's claim but he was unreachable and a text message sent was yet to be replied as at when this report was filed.

Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Discloses His Request From Buhari, Speaks On 2019 Election

Posted: 28 Oct 2018 06:30 AM PDT

Nnamdi Kanu and President  Buhari

Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has called for the boycott of the 2019 general elections.

Kanu said that when he came out from prison, President Muhammadu Buhari asked him what he wanted but he told him that he wanted them to open Igwuocha (Port Harcourt) seaport, Warri seaport, Calabar airport, and dredge River Niger.

Kanu also said he told Buhari that he wanted 100 per cent resource control but never heard from the presidency again, Daily Post reports.

In a live Facebook broadcast aired by the Radio Biafra, Kanu said, "You own the power, you take it back, you can boycott the election and decide what you want. Stand your ground, cripple the 2019 election and see the effects in your life."

He added , "No restructuring, no elections in 2019, southern leaders.

"All we have asked for is our freedom, but Igbo men, who claim they are politicians brought deaths to us. We have said it time and time again, we want our freedom. Perhaps, some of you are comfortable being slaves, we are not.

"Why do they want me dead? Biafrians should ask them.

"When I came out of prison, I ensured that the activities of Fulani herdsmen were reduced to the barest minimum.

"At no time during the time of Fulani herdsmen terrorism in our land did anybody call for help.

"South East Governors and Ohaneze proscribed IPOB under serious pressure.

"They agreed that Nnamdi Kanu should be killed. Not only me but my men, my father, brothers.

"I said to them, IPOB is here to save Biafra but we are used to it. We are used to the hostility.

"Biafrans are very very special, that is why they hate us.

"Our mothers were humiliated in Owerri and what did Ohaneze do. They laughed at them and said, they went out to protest the whereabouts of Nnamdi Kanu, so it serves them right.

"These are the people, who want us to regard them as leaders.

"Igboland has been shrunk to just five states. If you go to Opobo, if you speak, Ibo, somebody there will understand you. We have indigenous Igbo speaking people in Kogi state but nobody is talking about them. Ohaneze and Igbo leaders are merely interested in furthering their own interests.

"Biafra is older than the zoo called Nigeria.

"I have nothing against Igbo leaders.

"The priorities of some of our leaders are misplaced.

"They adopted Atiku but the same set of people are castigating Obi.

"When I was released from prison, on two occasions, I was approached and told that the president wants me to put in writing, what my requests are asides from outright independence.

"I told them that I want them to open Igwuocha seaport, Warri seaport, Calabar airport, dredge river Niger. I told them I want 100 per cent resource control…I never heard from them again.

"Some of you have stopped talking about Leah Sharibu.

"Some of you have stopped talking about Dasuki, who has been granted bail by different courts of law.

"Nobody is bothered about the well being of the suffering people.

"Southern Kaduna is under siege and all everyone is talking about how to vote.

"We are not going to vote, because we are greater than that nonsense. IPOB will not vote and I will give you reasons.

"Why is Dasuki still in prison?

"Why are IPOB members still in prison?

"Why will a judge say, release El Zakkay and he is still in prison?

"Shame on you who want to vote."

2019 Presidency: What Gov. Okorocha Disclosed That Will Happen To APC If Buhari Loses Election

Posted: 28 Oct 2018 05:32 AM PDT

Governor Rochas Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha, of Imo State, has vowed that he was not going to dump the All Progressives Congress, APC, for those who entered the party through the back door.

The Imo State Governor disclosed this in a press conference at the Government House in Owerri, the Imo State capital yesterday.

The Governor said that per-adventure Buhari loses the 2019 election, most people in the party will leave immediately.

Okorocha was expressing his anger on the leadership of the party for failing to submit the name of his son-in-law to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, as the authentic governorship candidate of the party.

The Governor also said he has the backing of the presidency on the matter, adding that most of the people joining the party in the last two months were opportunists.

Asked about the likelihood of him leaving the party, Okorocha said, "The option of leaving the party has not come to my mind.

"APC is my party in 2011 when this party was called Boko Haram and Islamisation party.

"Where were these people? Nobody gave us a chance that APC was going to win the 2015 election.

"So, what makes you think that we are going to leave the party for those that came through the back door and are being given a voice by the National Chairman of our party.

"All you hear is rumour everywhere that they are backed by the Presidency that Rochas should take one position and leave the other one as if we are sharing groundnut, but I tell them I have met President and he told me he never said to anybody to impose a wrong candidate or to remove the name of anybody and change it with another in whatever guise.

"Ninety per cent of those who have joined APC in the last two months are doing so not because they love APC, they can never go to an election without federal might and per-adventure President Buhari loses this election, the next day they will leave the party.

"So, these set of people are simply called 'political opportunists' who are not with the people but always want to grab victory through the use of gun.

"But I think this has to stop, why should our party promote this and I warn they should stop this."

Buhari’s Credentials Are Not With Us – Nigerian Army

Posted: 28 Oct 2018 04:47 AM PDT

President Muhammadu Buhari

Below is footage of a statement given by the Nigerian Army in 2015 denying that it possessed the credentials of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The failure of President Muhammadu Buhari to attach his credentials to the forms he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission to enable his seek reelection next year on the platform of the All Progressives Congress in 2019 has generated another round of interest in the issue.

According to a report by PoliticsNGR in January 2015, the Nigerian Army spoke on the issue of the controversial certificate.

The position of Service was made known by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Olajide Laleye, who was retired after the assumption of office by Buhari.

Laleye said the Army does not have the original or Certified True Copy of President Buhari's West African Examination Council certificate.

He equally said there was no statement of result in his file.

Laleye's statement to the press on January 20, 2015, reads in full: "I will begin with the Major General Muhammadu Buhari certificate controversy. Gentlemen, let me state clearly that the Nigerian Army holds the retired senior officer in very high esteem and respect and would not be a party to any controversy surrounding his eligibility for any political office. Suffice to state that Major General Buhari rose steadily to the enviable rank of Major General before becoming the Head of State of our dear country in December 1983.

"The media hype on retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari's credentials as well as the numerous requests made by individuals and corporate bodies to the Nigerian Army on this issue have necessitated that we provide the facts as contained in the retired senior officer's service record. Records available indicate that Major General M. Buhari applied to join the military as a Form Six student of the Provincial Secondary School, Katsina on October 18, 1961.

"His application was duly endorsed by the Principal of the school, who also wrote a report on him and recommended him to be suitable for military commission.

It is a practice in the Nigerian Army that before candidates are shortlisted for commissioning into the officers' cadre of the Service, the Selection Board verifies the original copies of credentials that are presented. However, there is no available record to show that this process was followed in the 1960s.

"Nevertheless, the entry made on the NA Form 199A at the point of documentation after commission as an officer indicated that the former Head of State obtained the West African School Certificate in 1961 with credits in relevant subjects: English Language, Geography, History, Health Science, Hausa and a pass in English Literature. However, neither the original copy, Certified True Copy nor statement of result of Major General Muhammadu Buhari's WASC result is in his personal file.

"I hope this explanation will put to rest the raging controversy surrounding the secondary school credentials of Major General Mohammed Buhari as it affects the Nigerian Army."
