Echoes Of Osun Election Result: Shocking Revelation By Senator Adeleke

Posted: 02 Oct 2018 06:22 PM PDT

Senator Ademola Adeleke

Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate  in the just concluded Osun state governorship election,  has alleged that the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress, APC planned to kill him at the state capital, Osogbo, during the election.

The PDP candidate, has vowed to contest the result of the election and reclaim his "stolen" mandate.

The Lawmaker, revealed this  in an interview with Channels Television yesterday.

Adeleke said "I'd like to tell them that their mandate was stolen. The election was rigged because all our people were not allowed to vote.

"They sent in some fake policemen and thugs who were holding guns. They were shooting everywhere. People were scared for their lives. They came out in Orolu, our stronghold.

"They knew they wanted to vote for PDP but they started beating them.

"They told them that they could not vote. This is the worst election I've ever seen. It has become a shame to Nigerian democracy.

"They are so scared right now. They couldn't even celebrate because they stole our mandate. We have packed our evidence and we will meet them in court.

"INEC has been compromised. Even with the 419 result they brought out, we had extra 2000 votes and they promised to add it.

"They were caught unawares. They had the instruction that they should not announce me and the whole world was watching.

"They were making a mockery of our democracy. We won't let it go like that.

"They planned to kill me. Why can't they go for other people? They know that I am the only one that can defeat them.

"They barred journalists; they didn't allow observers to work. I am not giving up… I salute the good people of Osun state.

Just In: Sanwo-Olu Defeats Ambode, Declared Winner By State Party Chairman(Video)

Posted: 02 Oct 2018 04:31 PM PDT

Lagos APC

Alhaji Babatunde Balogun, Lagos State chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC),  has declared Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu winner of the state governorship primary election held, Tuesday.

The State Party Chairman, made the announcement at the State Party Secretariat ACME where, according to Balogun, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode scored 72,901 votes, while Sanwo-Olu polled 970,851 votes.

Alhaji Balogun further stated that the election was free, fair and transparent. He said that physical and feelable human beings were counted in the presence of observers.

He therefore commended party members that turned in from the 245 wards to participate in the exercise.

He added that, it was a demonstration of their commitment to the party.

Watch video:

"The people have now rendered their decision and there is no reason to cast aside the sovereign will of the people. For me, as party chairman, to see vast number of people to come out to vote and then say there is no primary took place would to cast stain on the party and its leadership. This I shall not do.

" Those persons who now claim this election did not take place stand in direct opposition to the spirit of Democracy and the expressed will of APC members in Lagos. The party faithfuls have spoken and it is voice that is paramount.

"The Lagos chapter of the APC is committed to honouring their choice. Their decision must stand as the true expression of the APC in Lagos.

" To embark upon any other course will be to betray our members, our state and the core principle of progress and democracy upon which the APC is founded. Such a move is also at variance with the President's strict adherence to the principle of transparency, openness and participatory democracy."

EFCC Opposes Nenadi's Contempt Charge Against Lai Mohammed

Posted: 02 Oct 2018 01:14 PM PDT

Alhaji Lai Mohammed

...The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) oppose contempt charge brought against Lai Mohammed.

Nigeria anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has asked a Federal High Court in Lagos to dismiss a motion filed by a former Minister of State for Finance, Nenadi Usman, seeking to commit the Information Minister, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, to prison for alleged contempt.

Nenadi Usman is standing trial alongside former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Yusuf Danjuma, and a company, Joint trust Dimension Ltd, over money laundering charges.

In a motion on notice brought through her lawyer, Mr Ferdinand Orbih (SAN), the former minister argued that the inclusion of her name on the looters' list released by the Information Minister during the course of an alleged fraud case against her was contemptuous.

However, responding to the arguments on the motion, EFCC's lawyer, Mr Rotimi Oyedepo, urged the court to decline Nenadi's request, Daily Post reports.

Oyedepo insisted that the applicant (Nenadi) was never referred to as a looter by the information minister, arguing that what was published by some newspapers only bordered on allegations which could not be said to be prejudicial to the applicant's case in court.

He further argued that there was no advertorial from the Ministry of Information to substantiate the claims against the information minister.

He said: "The minister of information is not a party to the criminal proceedings against the applicant; there is no evidence to show that the alleged contemnor works with the various media houses that published the alleged offensive publication.

"Besides, there were no allegations against the media houses that published the alleged offensive publication.

"There was nothing that connected the ministry of information to the motion which was taken out to annoy the prosecution; the motion is lacking in substance, it is an abuse of court's process and should be dismissed."

Meanwhile, Justice Mohammed Aikawa has reserved his ruling on the motion until Nov. 16.

What Oshiomhole Told Buhari About Imo And Lagos APC Primary Elections

Posted: 02 Oct 2018 01:39 PM PDT

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole,

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Tuesday described the results being circulated as the outcome of the Imo governorship primaries as fake.

The APC National Chairman, disclosed this while answering to questions from State House correspondents after a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja,Tuesday.

Oshiomhole also hinted that the party had disbanded the Committee that conducted the party's governorship primaries in Imo State, led Ahmed Gulak.

He stated that another committee will be set up immediately for the conduct of fresh primaries in the state before the end of the week.

"Imo was not too good news for today, but not surprising they have to learn to begin to comply with rules, they have two fake results, none of them is genuine.

"We will disband and we will appoint a fresh committee (electoral panel) that will conduct transparent direct primaries that reflect the will of members of APC in Imo regardless of the interest and powers that are behind any of the groups.

"The truth does not require supporters club to stand, it has its hands and legs and we will do just that".

In the same vein, the APC National Chairman also spoke about the Lagos APC Guber primaries, held today Tuesday, between the incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, a former Commissioner.

Oshiomhole disclosed that the National Working Committee (NWC) was in charge of the primaries and that every situation had been put under control.

"I told the president that the primaries held as planned and everything is being done to ensure there is no violence because democracy doesn't flourish with violence.

"Nigerians must begin to learn how to differ in opinion and in choice without fighting; this is something people have to acquire over time.

"For me, I'm excited that if we can do it in Lagos it can be done anywhere.

"Everything that is being done is done under the control, supervision and direction of the NWC.''

The APC National Chairman, maintained that no matter how highly a member may be, he or she must subject himself/herself to the constitution of the party.

Lagos 2019: What Buhari Told Tinubu In Meeting Over Ambode Revealed

Posted: 02 Oct 2018 03:35 AM PDT

President Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Tinubu

The All Progressives Congress, (APC), National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Monday had a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, over Lagos APC Primary election.

The meeting which took place at the Presidential Villa, a day after the Governor of Lagos State, Governor Akinwunmi Ambode's delivered a world press conference, where he made several allegations against his rival, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

Recall that Tinubu and other APC leaders in the state had endorsed Sanwo-Olu for the party's governorship ticket.

Ambode, apparently infuriated by the development, opened a can of worms against Sanwo-Olu.

Asiwaj, after his meeting with the president on Independence Day, released a statement signed by his media adviser, Tunde Rahman, where he insisted that his position remains unchanged, DAILY POST reports.

"Asiwaju Tinubu and Chief Bisi Akande were invited by President Buhari and it turned out to be a good and productive meeting. Asiwaju was quite pleased to have conferred with the President who has always shown himself to be a committed party member and a true democrat.

"Just like the President, he is looking forward to a good and credible primary that is peaceful and free of rancor. As previously stated, Asiwaju plans to vote in this primary and his position regarding the relative merits of the candidates remains unchanged," the statement read.

Asiwaju said of his choice: "I am encouraged by the presence of a candidate in this primary, who has served the state in senior positions in my administration, the Fashola administration and even in the current one. While possessing a wealth of experience and exposure, he is a young man endowed with superlative vision and commitment.

"Most importantly, he understands the importance of the blueprint for development. He esteems it as a reliable and well-conceived vehicle for the future development of the state. He also knows the value of reaching out and working with others in order to maximise development and provide people the best leadership possible. With people like him at the helm, the state will write the proper history for itself."
