Lagos 2019 Election: We’ll Beat Sanwo-Olu ‘black and blue’ – PDP

Posted: 05 Oct 2018 04:49 PM PDT

PDP

The Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has said the emergence of Babajide Sanwo-Olu as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) would facilitate a seamless victory for the PDP in the 2019 governorship election in the state.

The party's Publicity Secretary, Gani Taofik, while speaking in an interview with the Daily Independent newspaper,  said the PDP would beat Sanwo-Olu and the APC black and blue.

Taofik added that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the APC, rejected the incumbent governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, for a second term in office because of alleged disagreement in the sharing of the state's resources.

The State PDP Publicity Secretary said: "We don't see Sanwo-Olu as a threat at all in the forthcoming governorship election. In fact, we will beat him and the APC black and blue. Our candidate will win him hands down because we know that the only reason why he has been presented is to be used as a conduit pipe to syphon Lagos money.

"It is obvious and in the public domain that the disagreement between Tinubu and Ambode is because of the sharing of Lagos resources. While one insisted that he must continue to get his percentage, the other said that it cannot continue and he wants development.

"So, I think Sanwo-Olu's emergence has made our job very easy. We will beat him black and blue."

Omisore who spoke in Osogbo yesterday during a meeting with members of the SDP from across the 30 local government areas of the state, said he opted to support the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, in Osun rerun election because the leadership of the PDP in the state said they did not need his support.

The Politician, further stated that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar wanted to come and discuss with him before the rerun when he came to Osogbo, but he (Atiku) was prevented from coming by the leadership of the PDP in the state.

On why he didn't support Senator Adeleke, Omisore said, "I want to adopt all what Dr Farounbi said. We gave them (APC and PDP) our manifesto.

"We dwelt on payment of arrears of salaries, pensions, and gratuities, on local content, employment for our youths and the reorganization of the educational system, among others.

"We went to negotiation with a clear mind that Osun must be free and thank God our coalition has produced a new future for the state.

"In addition to what Dr. Faroumbi said, the National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole, said clearly that our discussion was devoid of any financial commitment. He said they were ready to work."
