Aspirants Of APC Accuse Party’s NWC Of Fraud, Wants Primaries Annulled

Posted: 06 Oct 2018 06:15 PM PDT

APC

Aspirants that participated in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries held in Ekiti State on Friday, have called on the National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to cancel the outcome of the election.

DAILY POST reported that the aspirants from Ekiti North Federal Constituency I; Hon Bimbo Daramola, Bunmi Ogunleye and Olufemi Ajayi , accused the Dr. Ibrahim Sule-led National Working Committee for the National Assembly primary in Ekiti, of manipulating the process in favour of aspirant found to have political tie with some leaders of the party in the State.

They insisted that there was no ward where election was held in the two Local Governments of Oye and Ikole, alleging that the figures were concocted in favour of Barrister Peter Owolabi , following failure by some leaders to get him the ticket via consensus arrangement.

At a press conference held in Ado Ekiti on Saturday, Daramola advised the APC to abide by the tenets of democracy they were fond of preaching, rather than being hypocritical by doing what negates the ideals they preached.

The former member, House of Representatives, challenged the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), Department of State
Services (DSS) and the police to present the reports of the primary to substantiate whether election was truly held in the federal constituency.

"This brazen daylight robbery has the capacity to injure not only the reputation of our party but also create bad blood among our members . They should stop behaving in an unruly manner , because we are facing the PDP next year's February in major elections.

"What we saw yesterday in Ekiti North Federal Constituency 1, was a travesty , it wasn't a reflection of the peoples will. The results announced for our brother, Mr. Owolabi was a disappointment and brazen desecration of democracy in our land.

"APC was supposed to be a party for change. I have been part of its struggles giving everything to the party . If I will lose a poll, it should be in an honourable manner. The primary is not about us, but about our people. If we must practice what we preach, I do not expect what happened in Oye and Ikole Ekiti on Friday.

"Contrary to what the chairman from Abuja, Dr. Sule said that no photocopy would be used for results sheets , but in Oye, we have evidence that photocopies were used. They brought photocopies that are not visible which are not what as much as a tissues paper with no numbers, no index, but original ones were sent to Iloro ward 2 in Ekiti Central.

"I personally feel that that is not the appropriate step to take. I also saw a video clip on social media where they said I scored 2,000, in an election without materials, it was a sad day for our party.

"We plead with our party to do justice in this regard by cancelling the outcome of the primary in the interest of our party's reputation that was being damaged," he said.

Other aggrieved aspirants, Messrs Ogunleye and Ajayi added that democracy was murdered by the action, saying no election was held in the federal constituency and that electoral officers did not report in any of the ward in Ikole Council area.

Ajayi said: "it is high time we stopped behaving as if our people don't matter. Our people should determine who wins any primary and not by imposition. Many old and young people waited in the sun , but results were written and these results were concocted by those who
announced them.

"We aren't say our party leaders don't matters, but where they want a consensus candidate, they should carry everybody along . But that wasn't done, I am insisting that there was no poll in lkole LGA, but a winner was announced. I didn't know where they got the results.

"If anyone would emerge as our representative, the people must be given the liberty to have inputs. APC shouldn't continue this way."

El-Rufai Enumerates Senator Shehu Sani’s Sins Against President Buhari

Posted: 06 Oct 2018 01:00 PM PDT

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Governor of Kaduna State

Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Kaduna State Governor, has said President Muhammadu Buhari directed him to initiate the recall of Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna central district, over acts of contempt and disloyalty.

The Governor disclosed this in a letter dated October 2 to the president.

In the letter, he listed the 'compendium' of sins committed by Sani against him, the president and the All Progressives Congress (APC), Daily Post reports.

According to the letter which read, "When your excellency travelled to London in April 2018 for medical consultation, Shehu Sani ridiculed it on Facebook as 'Voyage to London, Season 3.

"In May 2018, he lamented what he said was Buhari's three years of failure to protect human lives.

"In the same month, he wrote that 'Baba should protect his testicle from any man who always bends down to greet him.

"Your excellency will recall that earlier this year, you directed me to initiate processes to recall Shehu Sani from the senate to punish his repeated acts of contempt and disloyalty.

"Following your directive, our team in Kaduna studied what was being done in Kogi state regarding the recall of Dino Melaye and drew up a budget. Upon examination of the costs and loopholes in the recall process as brutally exposed in Dino Melaye's case, and in recognition of the immense of preparations for the next elections, it was decided that it may be more prudent to oust him at the ballot.

"The party executives in his ward in Kaduna suspended him from APC in December 2015 for negative comments about your Excellency. It was later extended to indefinite suspension in 2016."

Elumelu Gave Delegates $1,500 Each, Against N100,000 Gov. Okowa Directed -Says Mrakpor

Posted: 06 Oct 2018 12:27 PM PDT

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, of Delta State

Mrs. Amaechi Mrakpor, an outgoing member of the House of Representatives for Aniocha/Oshimili constituency of Delta State, has accused the winner of Wednesday's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary for the Aniocha/Oshimili constituency, Ndudi Elumelu, of disobeying Governor Ifeanyi Okowa's earlier directive not to give any delegate more than N100,000 each during the primary.

The primary, which was conducted amidst heavy shooting midway into the counting of votes, followed by disruption of the exercise by the federal lawmaker, as well as the slapping of an electoral officer by the state PDP chairman, Mr. Kingsley Esiso, saw Ndidi Elumelu emerge winner with 266 votes, Sahara Reporters has reported.

He was declared winner by the Returning Officer, Uzor Nwadu, with Mrakpor scoring 226 votes.

Speaking with journalists in Asaba, the Delta State capital on the outcome of the primary, wife of the Delta State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mrs. Mrakpor, alleged that her closest rival induced more than 500 delegates with $1,500 each, noting that the action was a violation of Okowa's earlier directive that no aspirant should give more than N100,000 to each delegate for logistics.

Mrakpor said: "On the night of October 1, some delegates from my local government informed me that Elumelu was giving delegates $1,500. I didn't quite believe it because, before then, the governor had announced that no aspirant should give any delegate more than N100,000 for their accommodation, transport and feeding.

"That was the briefing we got and I got ready with N100,000 each. But by the night of October 1, I received a phone call that Elumelu was giving out $1,500 or N550,000 and I confirmed it."

Mrakpor, said to be Okowa's 'anointed' candidate, alleged that after Elumelu voted, "he came back and started campaigning to the delegates while voting was going on. After that he brought out a Ghana-must-go bag and started sharing jollof rice and chicken and nobody cautioned him.

"I was trying to be obedient. He shared about $800,000, and just yesterday morning, he went out again to share another 'dollars for breakfast' to the delegates. Nobody stopped him." Mrakpor said.

In a swift reaction, Elumelu refuted all the allegations levelled against him by Mrakpor, and urged her to accept defeat and work with him.

It was reliably gathered that Okowa was not happy that his preferred candidate, lost the ticket, and that the governor has not forgiven Elumelu for refusing to step down for him during the PDP governorship primary in 2014. He is said to have ordered that the primary be conducted again so as to favour the incumbent federal lawmaker.

Meanwhile, in following the governor's directives for a repeat of the primary, Mrakpor mobilised delegates loyal to her on Friday to the cenotaph, venue of the rerun primary, where they waited all day for PDP and INEC officials, who did not show up until Mrakpor and her delegates left the venue disappointed at about 5:30pm.

Sources in the PDP confided in our correspondent that Tony Elumelu, elder brother to winner of the primary, who is chairman of United Bank for Africa, has contacted Governor Okowa over the development, warning him to desist from the arrangement for a repeat of the primary.
