President Muhammadu Buhari Friday in Abuja said leaders who undermine the economy by denying workers their benefits, while stuffing personal accounts with public funds will not escape the current anti-corruption dragnet.

Receiving All Progressives Congress (APC) delegation from Benue State, led by Sen. George Akume, President Buhari said the Federal Government's bailout to states and Paris Club funds were basically to alleviate the sufferings of the people, describing misappropriations as unjust and unfair to workers, PoliticsNGR reports.

"I honestly don't know how people sleep when workers have not been paid. The workers have to pay rent, buy food, send their children to school and they have healthcare to take care of.

"I assure you that my main interest is all Nigerians in all parts of the country. Therefore, if anybody who tries to create any impression that I prefer any group across ethnicity or religion let him dare me by being caught red handed stealing public funds. I will deal with him,'' he said.

The President told the APC delegation that the Federal Executive Council had been monitoring the plight of workers across the country and utilisation of the bailout and Paris Club funds by some states.

"I thank you for your courage to come and see me. This visit has resuscitated our morale,'' he said.

President Buhari said the Federal Government had made significant progress in diversifying the economy by investing in agriculture and encouraging more individuals and entrepreneurs to go into farming, pointing out that Nigeria would soon become self-sufficient in feeding its citizenry.

"We are proud of what we have achieved with resources at our disposal,'' he added, listing ongoing road, rail, sea port, airport and power projects as hallmarks of his administration's commitment to improving lives.

President Buhari said the Ministry of Agriculture and the Central Bank of Nigeria will be further motivated to work together and support all interested Nigerians to take up farming on commercial scale.

He noted that the killings across the country, including in Benue, Zamfara and Taraba, were carried out by "ungodly'' people who had no religious or ethnic inclinations.

"We know about herders. The ones we knew carried sticks, and sometimes cutlasses to cut foliage for their cattle. We now have people who carry AK 47s and pretend they are herdsmen.

"We are working hard to secure our borders. We are going to see how the old cattle routes can be opened. We will control movement. Please beg our people to be patient,'' he said.

The President pointed out that security personnel were already uncovering the network of the killers and arresting them.

In his remarks, the leader of the delegation said the narrative in the state about the Federal Government was fast changing for the positive as more people had discovered the good intentions of President Buhari to secure lives and property, and alleviate poverty.

"Your Excellency, Mr President, we know your commitment to Nigeria. We know how much you love the country and will be ready to die for the good cause,'' Sen. Akume said.

Akume, a former governor of Benue State, told the President that APC members had started sensitization and mobilisation of voters for the 2019 elections, noting that more had accepted the party and its manifesto in the state.

He commended the President for the flag-off of the dualization of the Abuja-Keffi-Lafia-Makurdi road, urging more attention on the Makurdi-Otukpo road and the water projects in Gboko and Otukpo.

"You have worked hard to stop herdsmen and farmers clashes in Benue. It is important to note that many people used religion and ethnicity to score cheap points. Religion was used in Benue for sinister purposes,'' he added.

On corruption, Sen. Akume said the President has made significant difference by tackling perpetrators.

See Disturbing Video Released By Boko Haram, Of The Bloody Battle With Nigerian Soldiers

Posted: 23 Nov 2018 02:47 PM PST

Boko Haram

A disturbing video released on Thursday by Boko Haram shows how the terrorists carried out the attack on a military formation, killing a large number of Nigerian soldiers.

The video was released shortly after PREMIUM TIMES published an exclusive report in which a soldier who survived the attack at Metele military base in Guzamala local government of Borno State, detailed how about 70 soldiers lost their lives in the battle with the insurgents.

The National Assembly on Thursday suspended plenary in honour of the fallen soldiers, even as a cross-section of Nigerians expressed concerns about the worsening state of insecurity in the country.

In an extremely graphic video believed to have been released by the ISWAP faction of the Boko Haram, the insurgents were seen attacking a military base at a bush littered with bloody corpses of Nigerian soldiers.

The five minutes and 32 seconds video started with an Arabic male voice playing over clips of video footage showing a large number of assembled Boko Haram members who were all kitted in military desert combat fatigue. The gathered insurgents formed a circle around a burning fire while taking instruction from a commander standing in their midst before setting out for the operation.

The footage later showed the armed insurgents in a convoy of Hilux vehicles and gun trucks heading towards the location of the attack.

Shortly after that, the video showed the Boko Haram gunmen advancing into a military camp that was fortified with trenches while shooting sporadically.

The gunmen were not seen encountering any form of serious resistance as they made their way into the military base believed to be Metele. The attackers were seen walking over corpses of soldiers while shooting different calibres of guns and warheads.

Some soldiers were seen at a distance firing back at the invading Boko Haram fighters from trenches before they were all gunned down. A close-up shot showed the soldiers lying dead inside the trenches.

At a point in the video, the insurgents were seen walking over the corpses of fallen soldiers, shooting at them at close range and retrieving the rifles even as they also searched their  pockets for valuables.

A seemingly dead soldier was seen still holding onto his rifle before a Boko Haram gunman arrived to fire at his corpse and yanked the gun off his cold grip.

An injured fair-skinned soldier who appeared to be in his early fifties was also seen being taken away by the Boko Haram fighters towards the end of the video. The soldier who was still carrying a sack bag over his shoulder was later placed behind a pickup van as the insurgents drove him away to an unknown destination.

The insurgents, most of whom were shown wearing hoods to cover their faces, were seen boarding a vehicle belonging to the Nigerian military.

A male voice speaking in Arabic said: "People should embrace the fear of God in all their dealings, and fear the wrath of God on the day of resurrection. Your ticket to paradise is here in this world; your deeds will decide which part of heaven you will find yourselves – either in heaven or in hell depends on your good deeds and bad deeds.

"So people should strive to hold onto the injunctions of God.

"Remember that God watches all your deeds and accurate accounts are being taken. You cannot be victorious in the sight of Allah unless you wish for your brother that which you wish for yourself.

"If you do not do this, know that your worship is worthless.

"In every society, there are infidels and evil-doers; hence people should stay clear from them and their bad deeds to avoid the wrath of God even here on earth."

The Boko Haram insurgency in North-eastern Nigeria has continued despite the efforts of Nigerian security forces who have limited the insurgents to three North-east states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.

About 100,000 people have died in the insurgency since 2009, according to the Borno State Government.

JUST IN: How Nnamdi Kanu Was Paid To Announce My Death – Buhari

Posted: 23 Nov 2018 11:18 AM PST

Nnamdi Kanu and President Buhari

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been alleged of paying self-acclaimed leader of Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to announce that President Muhammadu Buhari is dead.

The special adviser to President Buhari on social media, Lauretta Onochie, made this known on Friday through her twitter handle, PoliticsNGR reports.

She tweeted: "The intelligence of some Nigerians has been insulted by the outrageous lies that @Mbuhari has a double, having died in the UK. This evil is being sponsored by one of PDP's Looters, the drug infested, crack head, @realffk. He is calling Nigerians, gullible. Nigerians are not!

"Recall, at the start of the @Mbuhari/@ProfOsinbajo administration, @realffk, mounted a campaign of targeted calumny on the persons and offices of the President @MBuhari and Vice President, @ProfOsinbajo. He has been manufacturing and churning out lies upon lies.

"At a Press Conference on 27th February, 2015, he posited, adamantly, that an oath was administered on @ProfOsinbajo, to force him to resign as the Vice President after the election to make way for Asiwaju Tinubu to replace him That was nearly 4 years ago. But the lies continue.

"When @NgrPresident, @MBuhari was declared dead by @lereOlayinka, the media aid to ex-Gov. Ayo Fayose of Ekiti, it was @realffk who in his usual drugged up stupor, lied that the British was working to install @elrufai as VP and later as President in 2019! A lie built on a lie.

"In another outrageous lie, and in his warped, deluded and hallucinatory state, @realffk lied that @ProfOsinbajo called the Osun Resident Electoral Commissioner, to influence the outcome of the recently conducted Osun Guber election. A clear an undiluted lie by a serial liar!

"@realffk is shamelessly and continuously lying to Nigerians, calling us gullible people who would swallow any lie. Whenever he opens his drug-filled mouth, hatred, bitterness & falsehood ooze. He is nothing but a fake news and hate vendor. Join me to #Reportrealffk to Twitter."

Atiku Discloses Those That Will Make 70 Percent Of His Appointments

Posted: 23 Nov 2018 08:31 AM PST

Atiku Abubakar

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2019 election,  said if elected, 70 per cent of his appointments would go to youths and women.

Abubakar said this on Wednesday in Yola while addressing a group of youths who organised a solidarity rally to endorse his candidature, Daily Post reports.

Abubakar said 40 percent of appointments would go to youths, while 30 percent would go to women.

"The remaining 30 percent will be managed by the elderly," he said.

While pleading with the youths to vote for PDP for better life, the former vice president noted that their votes were vital for his victory as they constituted 70 per cent of the nation's voting population.

"This election is for you; youths and women as you made up 70 per cent of Nigerian population of voting age.

"As for me, I have achieved in life, but many of you have a long way to go; you have no house, no job. If you fail to vote PDP you will continue like that.

"On Election Day, go and vote, protect your votes and ensure your votes count," he said.

EFCC Takes Over Six Landed Properties Allegedly Belonging To Fayose

Posted: 23 Nov 2018 03:40 AM PST

Ayodele Fayose, ex-Ekiti State Governor

No fewer than six landed properties allegedly owned by immediate past governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose were on Thursday sealed-off in Ado Ekiti by operatives of the EFCC.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the action may not be unconnected to a court order which authorised seizure of the property suspected to have been built with corrupt proceeds.

NAN reports that Fayose had earlier raised an alarm of deliberate `persecution and witch hunting' after his last encounter with the EFCC.

The anti-graft had pressed charges against Fayose in a Federal High Court Lagos on allegations of fraud while serving as governor.

Parts of the notice of seizure placed by the anti-graft body on the property in Ado Ekiti, read thus: "EFCC, Keep-off'', "Property under Investigation'' among others.

However, Fayose had accused the EFCC of going about town sealing property belonging to innocent individuals arbitrarily under the guise that those properties belonged to him.

The former governor said this in a statement signed by his Media Assistant, Mr Lere Olayinka, and made available to newsmen.

Fayose said his response to the unfortunate incident was aimed  at informing the public ahead of the EFCC's usual blackmail and media trial.

"I have just been informed that operatives of the EFCC are going about sealing houses of innocent people in the state, under the guise that the houses are linked to me

"This is another wild goose chase and the usual media campaign against my person.

"It is only in our country that an anti corruption agency will first go about sealing houses before determining the ownership, which can be done so easily by visiting relevant agencies.

"I am therefore, informing the public ahead of their usual blackmail and media trial.

"Please note that none of the property in question is owned by me and the records are there for anyone that is interested to see

"The EFCC is advised to stop going about looking for ways to malign my person just because of their hatred as a result of my uncompromising stands on national issues.

"Even if the commission is being pressured from 'above' to persecute me at all cost, it should at least, do its job diligently to save itself from persistent embarrassment'', he added. NAN

Sowunmi, Amaechi Fight At Presidential Debate - ‘You Are Speaking Trash’

Posted: 23 Nov 2018 03:21 AM PST

Rotimi Amaechi, at the first 2019 presidential debate - Credit -Twitter images

The Atiku Campaign Organisation,'s spokesperson,  Segun Sowunmi, and Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transport, had a fight of words at the first 2019 presidential debate.

The debate, which was hosted by The Osasu Show and held at NAF Conference Centre and Suites, had Sowunmi as the representative of Atiku Abubakar, while President Muhammadu Buhari sent no one.

Speaking on the plans of the Atiku campaign as raised by Sowunmi, Amaechi, who was not on the debate panel, raised up his hands to ask questions from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,  representative, the Cable reports.

He said the Atiku-Obasanjo led a privatisation of Nigeria's assets to their cronies.

"The first question is that they privatised, to who? Who did they privatise to? To themselves, and they are coming back. Then I was a young man, I didn't have money to buy," Amaechi said.

"Question number two, let me thank the woman who said power had improved. Under them, with $16 billion, we had 3,000 megawatts of power, now we have 7,000.

"Three, and finally, on railways, we all go to Kaduna. We are talking about railway, who has the railway? Our government right?".

Responding to Amaechi, Sowunmi said Amaechi was speaking trash, rather than sticking to an issue-based campaign.

"An eight-year governor of a state in PDP comes to public space, riding on the alleged integrity of just President Muhammadu Buhari, and speaking trash to the people, what exactly is this," Sowunmi said.

"Now, we had assumed, we had signed up to an issue-based campaign, and we just want to beg the operators of this present government to stick to the issues.

"We speak about opening up the economy to make sure that those who have the competencies to drive growth must be given the enabling environment to create value, and our people can plug in."

Sowunmi went on to speak to some of the issues regarding the campaign, on behalf of his principal, saying the government should stick to regulation and let those with capacities run businesses.
