Posted: 05 Dec 2018 03:50 PM PST

Mallam Nasir El-rufai

Mallam Nasir El-rufai, the Governor of Kaduna State, said that he has better things to do with his life than being the governor of Kaduna State.

The Governor promised to concede defeat to whoever wins the 2019 governorship election in the state.

He said this while Speaking at the event organized by the Kaduna State Peace Commission in partnership with AID Foundation Development Peace Initiative, United States Institute of Peace, Nigeria Bar Association and the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Governor El-Rufai said, "l should spend most of my time with my family which I have not done in the last 10 years."

While calling on politicians to shun politics of bitterness, he said election was not a war but a competition that at the end of it will have a winner, Daily Post reports.

In his words, "When politicians give weapons and drugs to young people for electoral purposes, then what do you do with them after you win? They become monsters that will be difficult to deal with.

"We have no thugs in the APC, all those that campaign with us, we try to empower and give them employment so that they can be off the streets.

"If you don't find job for this people, they are the one who become soldiers for Boko-Haram, kidnappers and involved themselves in other criminal activities.

"For us as state government, we must continue to govern and these are very serious issues for us."

He said politicians should conduct themselves during the campaign and avoid using hate speeches, adding that campaign should be issue-based.

Governor El-rufai reiterated his commitment towards ensuring that whoever was found using the social media to incite the killing of people in Kaduna would be brought to book.

"We are determined and we are doing that vigorously. We do not care about what people said, either you call yourselves Bishop, Imam, Sheikh, Chief or District head, we will bring them to justice.

"We are on the trail of those who have done that, some in Abuja, some in Lagos and we will bring them to Kaduna and charge them for hate speeches and we will not politicise it, because the protection of lives and property should never be politicised," he explained.

He appealed to politicians to put the people first, saying they should adhere to the tenets of religion, as no religion preaches hatred.

2019 Election: Oshiomhole Chides APC Governors

Posted: 05 Dec 2018 02:48 PM PST

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has described some state governors on the party's platform as poor students of history.

The Chairman spoke after receiving the APC women leaders from Edo State and Abuja, who paid him a solidarity visit in his office in Aso Drive, Abuja.

Governors Rochas Okorocha of Imo, Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun and Abdul-Aziz Yari of Zamfara are aggrieved that their preferred candidates lost during primaries.

Oshiomhole said, "Those who think our political future is tied to them, they are poor students of their own political history, Daily Post reports.

"Some of these people who talk as if they are invincible, they have forgotten that they have run elections in the past and lost until they abandoned their parties and joined us. So if they return back, history will repeat itself.

"Whether you are a big or small man, the rules are not supposed to discriminate. Our popularity in Imo and Ogun today is much higher. It is not that once you are a governor you have high electoral value.

"Yes in APC, our governors have high electoral value but we also have a few who are electoral liabilities."

The former Nigeria Labour Congress President said Nigeria needed to go back to the era where institutions were respected and protected and not powerful individuals.

He added that the actions of the two governors would not affect the fortunes of the party in the elections.

"In Imo state today, APC will win more votes. My focus is on ordinary Imo voters because on that day, the governor would have only one vote, his son-in-law would have only one vote while his Commissioner for Happiness would have only one vote.

"But artisans, traders, teachers and workers whose salaries are not being paid have the same weight of vote and they are excited about the renewed possibility of a new government coming with fresh ideas free of all the encumbrances of the present system. So in Imo I'm very confident.

"Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is from Ogun State. The state is one of the most enlightened States in Nigeria. They have a huge history; they are not in a political kingdom headed by one person.

"If they were looking for true reconciliation, they wouldn't have done what they did (defection of aides). That is not how democracy works. Nigeria must grow beyond this syndrome 'I'm the governor, I will decide.' You have only one vote. With due respect, I was once a governor. Overall APC is much stronger now".

I’m Yet To Reach My Desired Level In Fight Against Corruption – Buhari

Posted: 05 Dec 2018 04:21 AM PST

President Muhammadu Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has stated that he was yet to attain his desired level in the fight against corruption.

The President stated this through the Head of Civil Service of the Federation,
Winifred Oyo-Ita, at the Conference of Auditors-General in Nigeria in Abuja.

According to him, the current administration had introduced several different initiatives, especially in the financial and management sector aimed at stemming the tide of corruption, Daily Post reports.

He said, "At the inception of this administration, three cardinal goals were set: these are security, fight against corruption and revamping of the economy.

"Three and the half years down the life of this administration, I am pleased to report that tremendous achievement has been recorded in all three areas.

"I will say, however, that the desired level in the fight against corruption is yet to be attained.

"Despite this continued effort on the part of government, gap still remained to be closed, especially in the area of external auditing."

He identified some of the initiatives to include: the treasury single account, which have tremendously reduced leakages in the system, as well as the Presidential initiative on Continuous Audit, PICA.

He said, "PICA have the mandate to validate controls, assess risk, probe a small cost, ensure compliance with public financial management refunds, detect errors and make recommendations to management for necessary actions.

"Recently, I approve several sweeping reforms in the public finance sector so as to further reduce waste and drive up revenue.

"This reforms include performance monitoring, that will set financial indicators and targets for revenue generating for government owned enterprises; new measures for expenditure controls, budgeting and financial reporting requirement."

Buhari further stated that, henceforth, the account of government-owned enterprises shall be audited within the period of four months after the end of each financial year, adding that the role to be played by auditors-general in the success of this new reforms can, therefore, not be over-emphasised.

His words, "Let me challenge you all to think about how progress should be measured and I look forward to this as part of the outcome of your deliberations.

"The Sustainable Development Goals, SDG, adopted by all United Nations' member state, is a universal call to action to end poverty and protect the planet and ensure that all, people enjoy peace and prosperity.

"These are well captured in the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan, ERGP.

"Independent evaluation by auditors, for the success or otherwise of the implementations especially in the management of looted funds; against the right of proper implementations of the treasury single account TSA, the input achieved through the NPower programme, the lives that have been improved through the social safety net, conditional cash transfers and the school feeding programme and the visible progress with growth and real infrastructure, across the country are all necessary ingredients for improvement."

Watch Bishop Oyedepo Speak On ‘Dead Buhari’

Posted: 05 Dec 2018 02:46 AM PST

Bishop David Oyedepo

Bishop David Oyedepo, the Presiding Bishop of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, aka, (Winners' Chapel), has reacted to report that President Buhari was cloned in the United Kingdom, UK.

The reports making the rounds had it that Buhari was dead and the President in Aso Rock was Jibril El Sudan.

But, Oyedepo, speaking from Living Faith Church at Canaan land, Ota, on Sunday called on Buhari to as a matter of urgency, address the nation on the 'serious allegation'.

The cleric, urged the congregation to pray to God to deliver Nigeria from slavery, shame, and reproach.

Oyedebo noted that the report flying about "claiming among others that President Muhammadu Buhari had died in the UK while undergoing medical treatment," was disturbing.

The Man of God explained further that he had read article which claimed "The cabals in Aso Rock had procured a Buhari double in Sudan and made him Nigeria's President.

"That also the representative of Jubril's family who discovered the gigantic swindled suddenly showed up in Abuja and demanded to be compensated with the power-sharing arrangement at the federal level in perpetuating plus 50 percent of the Nigerians Oil revenues for 10 years in the first instance.

"The question is, has Nigeria now become a population of fools?'I believe it is time to come out of our slumber and salvage this country from slumber, if this evil tide is not dealt with decisively, Nigeria may be about to be re-colonized again but this time by another African country, what a shame and misfortune that would be, God forbid.

"If everything going on this issue particularly this outburst by the newspaper are mere speculation then let our President address the national issue right away to clear the nation.

"If the president will not address the nation on a subject as sensitive as this, it must have been proved beyond any iota of doubt that maybe he is not our president. On this note, we will rise and pray to God to rescue Nigeria, deliver this nation from slavery, restore the dignity of this nation, destroy the hold of evil men of our nation and deliver this Nation from shame, and reproach."
