Iowa State offers rigorous Ph.D. programs in economics and agricultural economics with field concentrations in Agricultural Economics, Applied Econometrics, Environmental and Resource Economics, Financial Economics, Industrial Organization, International Economics, Labor/Public Economics, and Macroeconomics. Our unique department is housed in both the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) and the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS), and strong faculty engage in a complementary blend of theoretical and applied research. All students, regardless of field, are given a solid foundation in economic theory and econometric methods. The standard financial aid offer for successful Ph.D. applicants is an assistantship for 5 years, starting around $24,000 per year with a full tuition waiver. Additional fellowships are available for the most promising applicants. Ames, with a population of about 63,000 (40 minutes north of Des Moines), is consistently ranked as one of the best small cities in the country.  |
