Gifty is in the news again and this time she has a message for deadbeat dads

Posted: 14 Jan 2019 11:30 PM PST

Gifty

For every deadbeat dad around, BBNaija's Gifty has a message for you all and it might be worth reading.

The former reality TV star took to her Instagram page where she posted a note for all the deadbeat dads around. In her post, she tried to differentiate between who a dad and a father are.

"There is a giant difference between a dad and a father. Now, a Dad is a sperm dono (one who 'distributes' his sperm around without self-control). While, a father is one who takes full responsibility of his child, from pregnancy till date. If you are a man and feel so proud of calling yourself a Father when you never even full plate b4, then you are nothing but a worthless thing and deserve a miserable death," she wrote.

It didn't end there as she went on to praise mothers who have have been standing strong and taking up responsibilities of their children. With a statement like this, one would think she was trying to shade someone but we all know this won't be the this as we expect her to release more post.

It would be recalled that in December 2018, Gifty surprised fans and lovers when she shared a photo of her daughter who turned one. It was later revealed that the child was a product of the relationship between Mr 2Kay and herself.

Gifty's 1-year-old daughter is Mr 2Kay's child

Mr 2Kay

Hey, guys just so you know, we have another celebrity parents alert as Gifty's daughter who turned one back in December 2018 is actually Mr 2Kay's child. Mr 2Kay on his Instagram page on Monday, December 17, 2018, posted a photo of the same child Gifty had posted on her own Instagram page. In his post, he had so many cute words to say about the adorable girl.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY SUNSHINE... (ALISHA IS ONE TODAY ) daddy loves you so much. May God keep on Protecting u and showering His blessings on u endlessly. My little princess ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ and u look so much like ur big brother #wealth #Alisha #GCBA #BETTERLIFE," he captioned the photo.

Surprise! Surprise!! Former BBnaija housemate, Gifty has a daughter and she turned one back in December 2018. The reality TV star took to her Instagram page on Monday, December 17, 2018, where she celebrated her daughter. According to her, since the arrival of her daughter, she has become a more loving person and striving to become a better person is now her zeal.

"Because of you, I am a Mom. Something that I've always wanted to be and I AM. Because of you, I know the deepest meaning of love. Because of you, I strive to be the best I can be. Because of you, I feel complete. You, my daughter, have changed my life in the absolute best way possible. I read somewhere that having a child is like letting your heart walk around outside of your body. That couldn't be more true. My sweet darling Alisha, words can't express how much I adore you. My world and heart are so full because of the joy you bring to us. You are more than anything I could have ever wanted in daughter. You are the sweetest soul with the biggest personality wrapped in one.

"I hope that you have compassion for others and a giving heart. No matter what, I will always be here for you. We will always be here to hold your hands when you need support. Lend an ear when you want to talk. Pick you up when you fall and most of all guide you the best we can through this life. On your first birthday and every birthday, We promise to make all of your dreams a reality and to make every wish of yours come true. My darling love, this is only the beginning and our best years are ahead of us… keep shining, keep smiling and ALWAYS remember that you are MY MAGIC. WE are super proud of you my baby❤️. Happy Birthday, Daughter, Love you, Mom & Dad! #17DEC2018 #ALISHA❤️ #MY LIFE❤️#MY AIR❤️," she wrote.

Gifty and Mr 2Kay have been reported to be in a romantic relationship a year ago but she has always denied the gist...well you know the truth now.

Peeshaun calls out fan who made mockery of his jacket

Posted: 14 Jan 2019 10:30 PM PST

Peeshaun calls out fan

Peeshaun of the music group, Skuki called out a fan who accused the singer of repeating a jacket. A fan of the musician who probably thought he was doing Peeshaun a favor got what he didn't bargain for as the artist gave him the insult of his life.

" You wore this jacket in August. u're wearing it again in sept #smh," pointed the fan.

Peesshaun replied "This jacket cost me 429.99 pounds (270,000), and you expect me to wear it only once? Ogun kee you!" As hilarious as this might sound, he sure did have a point, you can wear whatever you like at any time.

Toni Tones thinks Peeshaun is not in the place to determine what women decide to call themselves.

Toni Tones to Peeshaun

Toni Tones calls out Skuki's Peeshaun for calling women weak who address themselves as king

This might not be a celebrity fight but it looks like Toni Tones isn't finding funny Skuki's Peeshaun's comment about women being weak for addressing themselves as kings.
Peeshaun had taken to his Instagram page on Sunday, January 13, 2019, where he posted a write up about women not being satisfied with being called queens but now want to be addressed as kings.

"Some women are not satisfied with such a perfect title as QUEEN (a title that totally depicts POWER and COMPOSURE) They want to be called KING. When a woman starts calling herself King- it doesn't prove she's strong, it shows she's WEAK!" he wrote.

It didn't take long before Toni Tones stormed his comments section to call him out over the comments. In her response, she wondered why he was bothered about women deciding to call themselves whatever name they felt like addressing themselves.

"Leave people to call themselves what they want Skuki. Anybody calling themselves king does not make them weak. That is your personal opinion. Why are you personally so bothered by what people choose to call themselves? That is the real question. And I'll give you a quick lesson, initially all Rulers were called king, male or female... the wives of kings were called queens and that title filtered through. But initially, anyone who ruled was called 'King'. Stop fueling unnecessary fires, please. Allow people to live their lives how they want. Stop policing women. Police your fellow men, they need it more than we do. Thanks," she replied.

Well, we hope these bants ends starts and ends on social media without it deteriorating into a messy celebrity rift. However, guys, what do you think? Was Peeshuan right? Or was Toni Tones making more sense?

We all know Peeshuan to be the very vocal member of the group Skuki, as we can recall the time he took a fan to the cleaners after he tried to shame him over his jacket and the number of times he had worn it.

The academy further disclosed that AMAA will be celebrating the 15th anniversary by highlighting and profiling 15 Best Directors and Best Films of the last 15 years of AMAA as an ode to where it all began.

Founded by Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the award event was developed to recognize the hard work and excellence shown by people in the movie industry.

Posted: 14 Jan 2019 05:08 PM PST

Nigerian Army
The Nigerian Army has inaugurated Operation Python Dance III to check criminal activities and ensure peaceful conduct of the 2019 general elections in Borno State.

Maj.–Gen. Bulama Biu, the Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, made this known on Monday in Maiduguri at the inauguration of the exercise, NAN reports.

He said the operation was designed to disband criminal elements in the society as well as to ensure peaceful and hitch free elections in the state.

Biu disclosed that the exercise would be conducted in a collaboration with the Police, Department of State Security Service (DSS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

He said the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and other security outfits would also take part in the exercise.

"Events in the past indicated that any period Nigerians deserve peace and security, they are picketed by criminals and unscrupulous elements.

"Therefore, the army's leadership implemented Operation Python Dance III to clear criminal elements in the society.

"The exercise is to check any attempt to disrupt peace by criminal elements and ensure peaceful conduct of the elections.

"I call on patriotic Nigerians to support the military to ensure successful implementation of the exercise," he said.

Maj.-Gen. Benson Akinroluyo, the Theatre Commander, Operation LAFIYA DOLE, said that the exercise was designed to ensure peaceful conduct of elections, and not to witch hunt.

Akinroluyo commended the Borno Government over its support to the military in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgents and peace restoration process.

Ogun Governorship: Court Throws Out Adebutu’s Suit Against Kashamu

Posted: 14 Jan 2019 04:31 PM PST

A Federal Capital Territory High Court on Monday dismissed a suit by a member of the House of Representatives, Oladipupo Adebutu against the emergence of Senator Buruji Kashamu as governorship candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State for the March 2, 2019 governorship election.

In a judgment, Justice Ajoke Adepoju held Adebutu, who was nominated by the National Working Committee (NWC) of PDP for the governorship election, cannot maintain his suit against the defendants because the primary election that produced him (Adebutu) was conducted in violation of a subsisting court judgment.

Adebutu had, by the suit marked: FCT/FT/CV/29/2018, challenged refusal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to accept his candidacy.

Justice Adepoju was of the view the PDP NWC acted in bad faith by disregarding a subsisting judgment of a Federal High Court to produce the candidate.

Justice Adepoju said since PDP was a party in the judgment given by Justice Ibrahim Buba (of the Federal High Court), the judgment of the court was binding on it and must be obeyed and respected to protect the sanctity of court in the interest of the rule of law.

The judge noted it was the party's (PDP's) NWC that has the power to conduct governorship primary election but said the NWC, in exercising such power, must not act in violation of any court judgment.

Justice Adepoju said PDP NWC cannot not hold valid primary election without recourse to the Ogun State chapter of the party or outright approval of the party until the judgment against it by Justice Buba has been set aside by a higher court.

The judge held that Adebutu's suit cannot be maintained to declare him a governorship candidate because the PDP NWC, which conducted the primary election that produced him, acted in violation of a judgment of a Federal High Court delivered by Justice Buba.

Adepoju said she arrived at the conclusion because of the need ensure the protection of the sanctity of the court and its judgments by parties or individuals.

She noted the PDP did not do well by disobeying the judgment of Justice Buba with the way it conducted its primary election in Ogun State last year.

The judge said although Adebutu was able to establish the primary election that produced him was conducted by the appropriate organ of PDP, he was not entitled to be declared the candidate because of the circumstances that surrounded the conduct of the primary election in breach of a judgment that has not been set aside.

The judge earlier dismissed the objection raised by Kashamu against the suit.

The judge held that Adebutu has the option, in law, either to file the suit in Abeokuta, Ogun State or in Abuja as he did.

Justice Buba had, in his judgment in 2016 ordered INEC and the PDP to recognize and accept, for purposes of the 2019 Nigeria General Elections, only candidates of the PDP in Ogun State that have been nominated through primaries endorsed or conducted by the Adebayo Dayo-led new officers of the PDP in Ogun State.

2019 Presidency: Buhari Is A Sleeping President, He Has No Energy – PDP

Posted: 14 Jan 2019 04:22 PM PST

Prince Uche Secondus, the National Chairman of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has revealed why President Muhammadu Buhari allegedly failed to fulfill his promises to Nigerians.

Secondus said Buhari failed in job creation; fighting insecurity and surmounting the challenges of corruption because he is too weak to rule a country as complex as Nigeria.

The PDP chairman spoke on Monday evening at the MKO Democracy Park in Akure, the Ondo State capital at the party's rally in the state.

Secondus further warned the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Idris Ibrahim, not to plunge the nation into unnecessary chaos by attempting to rig the election, Daily Post reports.

Secondus expressed optimism that the PDP would win the Presidential poll of February 16

He said, "Do you know why economy has collapsed? Do you know why hunger is in the land?

"Your President Buhari is a sleeping President, he has no energy that is why the economy has collapsed, we are coming with Atiku who has energy and can work 24 hours a day not the one that would work for three years.

"This government of APC wants to rig election but we want to tell you that they cannot rig the coming elections because the world will focus on Nigeria.

"So we are going to win this election, look at Atiku, he is tested and trusted in public and private sectors. He is a man that can turn economy around. And he has the energy for the job.

"INEC, all your plan to rig the election will fail. If you attempt to rig the polls you will be throwing the country into chaos.

"IGP, you aren't the first IGP of this nation, don't plunge the nation into chaos. It is going to be one man one vote, free and fair election," he said

JUST IN: Buhari Picks New IG of Police

Posted: 14 Jan 2019 03:15 PM PST

President Muhammadu Buhari
The presidency has shortlisted an Assistant Inspector General of Police from Nasarawa State as a possible replacement of the retiring Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Idris, who clocks 60 years on Jan. 15, paid "a bye-bye visit'' to President Buhari on Monday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

NAN reports that the outcome of the closed-door meeting between President Buhari and the IGP was not disclosed as at the time of filing this report.

According to reports, Idris is expected to retire from service on attainment of the mandatory 35 years in service or 60 years of age.

A source close to the presidency, who preferred not to be named, confirmed to NAN that a replacement to the retiring IGP would be named on Tuesday, among the shortlisted candidates.

One of the persons said to be on the shortlist is AIG Adamu Mohammed. If he gets the nod, it means the DIGs may be required to retire.

"Yes, the IGP Ibrahim Idris is retiring tomorrow and possibly an acting Inspector-General maybe named very soon.

"But I will advise that you wait for official statement to that effect,'' the source maintained.

IGP Idris, who was appointed by President Buhari on June 21, 2016, replaced Solomon Arase, who retired from the police force on same day.

Idris enlisted into the Nigerian Police Force in 1984, after graduating from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria with a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture.

Antar Laniyan’s ultimate desire is to build a film academy

Posted: 14 Jan 2019 09:50 AM PST

Antar Laniyan has revealed his strong desire to leave behind a legacy as a filmmaker and established actor.

Antar Laniyan

Antar Laniyan has expressed his ultimate desire to build a film academy where he can grow young talents.

In a chat with Punch, the actor noted that his desire is yet to come to fruition because of his inability to raise funds for the project.

"If any rich man approaches me now, I will tell him I want an academy where I can raise new talents. This is what I know how to do best, but when you don't have money, your ideas will go to bed. The problem with our industry is that people believe an actor is as rich as the role he plays. That is a fake assumption; we are not rich.

"But if we have people who can help us, we can do better. The easterners help each other. Once they see that an individual has talent, the rich ones among them are always willing to support him or her. Though we have some selfless southerners too, I have yet to get any help from them," he said.

The filmmaker and actor expressed hope for a better Nollywood saying, "I know things will get better for actors. I know there is a better tomorrow for Nollywood; I see us attaining greater heights."

With a reputation for being highly professional when filming a movie, the filmmaker made no secret concerning his lack of interest in patronizing flirty actresses looking to quick career growth.

Bella Alubo finds the key to re-invent her evolving pop sound with 're-Bella'

Posted: 14 Jan 2019 09:23 AM PST

Bella

Bella is here to stay and re-Bella is testament to how the girl from Jos has evolved musically over the years.

Her third solo studio project sneaked in late in 2018 and the singer who delivered magic together with Ycee on the collaborative ''Late Night Vibrations'' has had to go through exiting her label, Tinny Entertainment, re-starting her career as an indie act and having to again remind the audience that she is the real deal and deserves a place on the scene.

Bella has had one foot into the industry for a while now, since 2015 with the cover of Falz's 'Karishika', demanding that her talents come noticed and despite lacking that mainstream hit to fully break through the ceiling, her music filled with an infusion of Hip-hop and pop anthems are fast becoming impossible to overlook for industry observers.

Re-Bella, the music

On Re-Bella, the music remains consistent with everything she has come to be known for recently, with the occasional up-tempo bop vibes that seeks a balance between her love persona and that girl next door just having fun creating beautiful songs.

The tape starts with a slow banger in 'Ask Bolaji' which features singer BOJ as Bella over strumming instrumentals is confident and assured as she instantly assures everyone that they will ''soon know her'' while BOJ puts some gloss over the song with his drowsy contribution.

On 'Aiya', Bella is more vibrant as she laments over a relationship filled with lies and pains, while she teams up with Victoria Kimani on 'Your G', a bouncy record where they paint the picture of what a power couple looks like.

''I no dey play Fifa, but I sabi Mortal Kombat''

Honey' features South African sensation, Sho Madjozi and the duo create an energetic vibe while she delivers a spiritual serenade on the first listen banger 'Animal' as she talks about her vices. This stands out as my favorite record on the EP.

Ghanaian superstar, Efya owns her spot on 'Chale Wote', which translates to 'Friends, Let go', a song that invites you on a ride to a place of festivities and bliss.

The project comes to a close with 'Tropical Paradise' which spotlights some of her best writing as Bella makes a laid back comparison of her love life and the beauty of the tropics/her environment, giving each feature a deeper meaning as she sings, ''Yellow like the Lagos sun, I never knew I could like that but I do''

Ultimately, re-Bella is Bella serving a well-rounded meal of what her music at this stage in her life essentially stands for, the matured talent who now understands the industry better and has embraced her singing skills the more.

Listenable catchy records, R&B and pop tunes with love ballads delivered in an unapologetic sentimental way crafted to melt even the most cynical of hearts form the base of the project.

Productions also help her achieve her mission with the guest artists that are noticeably spread from across the African continent wielding an ethereal presence that adds maturity to the project in comparison to her earlier solo works.

Across seven tracks, Bella brilliantly balances her ultra careful sound and ability to exemplify her yearnings without taking much risks.

Re-Bella is one that gets better with subsequent listens and while not exactly quenching the thirst of her fans who still seek that proper album, it is one they will savor in the meantime as they await her next full offering and hopefully at that point, she won't need to re-introduce herself.

2019: Benue and the jostle for Mark’s seat

Posted: 14 Jan 2019 08:05 AM PST

Bukola Saraki and David Mark
In Benue state, a fierce political battle is playing out among political parties and candidates seeking to corner the senatorial seat in Benue South Senatorial District currently occupied by former Senate President David Mark, reports Uja Emmanuel from Makurdi.

Following his decision not to seek another term in the Senate beyond 2019, the struggle to replace former Senate President David Mark as the Senator representing Benue South senatorial district is on. Mark has been in the national assembly since 1999 and for eight years, he served as the Senate President, setting an enviable record as the longest-serving Senate President till date.

Last October, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Benue State published the names of Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates for the 2019 general elections. According to the list posted at INEC's headquarters in Makurdi, for Benue South senatorial district, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is fielding ex-Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro.

While the All Progressives Congress (APC) fielded a former deputy governor of the state, Chief Steven Lawani for Benue South, the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has a former federal permanent Secretary of Defence, Chief Mike Okibe Onoja as its candidate. Similarly, Alhaji Usman Abubakar, popular known as young Alhaji, is the flag-bearer of Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA) for Benue South.

Of those gunning for Mark's job, Morro, Lawani and Onoja of PDP, APC and SDP respectively, have been described by many pundits as frontrunners in the race. This, our correspondent gathered, is large because the three candidates are widely regarded as political heavyweights. They had emerged from their different platforms last year to battle each other for the plum seat.

Onoja had contested for the governorship ticket of the PDP in 2007 and was almost coasting home to victory before there was a tie which led to a coalition of aspirant that gave victory to ex-Governor Gabriel Suswam. He again contested the 2018 PDP primaries for the Zone C senatorial ticket and lost to Morro in a rescheduled shadow election. Onoja cried foul and defected to the SDP where he easily picked the ticket to square against Lawani and Morro in the election proper.

The SDP candidate is believed to be coming into the race with a financial war chest. Many of his supporters argued that he should be given the chance to replaced David Mark having locked horns with the former Senate President in the previous race until Zone C elders intervened and appealed to him to step down for the general. Going by his performance in the 2007 governorship primaries of the PDP, Onoja is expected to put up a good fight.

But his opponents say given that he came to a distant third position in last year's senatorial primary election of the PDP, his political weight has waned and he will easily be defeated at the polls. "He has a good war chest. He is a well-grounded politician who has been in politics for a long time. But his performance in the PDP senatorial primary election is not a good measure of his political standing," a source explained.

Lawani, who is the APC candidate for Benue South senatorial zone, polled 1,321 votes to beat his rival, Daniel Onjeh, who scored 1,059 votes during last year's senatorial primary election held to elect the flag-bearer of his party. Abubakar Muhammed, the APC Electoral Committee Chairman for the district, announced the former deputy governor as the candidate of the APC in Otukpo after the shadow poll.

He has also contested the PDP governorship primaries in the past but lost out like Onoja. Having defeated former president of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Onjeh in the primaries to pick the zone C APC  senatorial ticket, many observers are tipping him for victory as he is coming into the race with rich political experience and records of public service.

He was deputy governor to ex-Governor Suswam for eight years of two terms and is expected to understand the power play and strategy required to win such a big political race. Lawani remains a power broker in the politics of the zone. He goes into the race with a rich political background and if being a deputy governor for eight years is anything to go by, then Lawani will make a difference in the senatorial race. This senatorial election is also a test case for the APC in the zone.

The senatorial election would be conducted by INEC before the governorship election and the result would be determined if APC has made headway in Benue South senatorial district. For Lawani, he has to shoulder a lot of responsibility for himself and APC as a party in the zone. But many of his supporters within and outside the APC believes Lawani has what it takes to give victory to his party.

On his part, Morro, who picked the PDP ticket for the senatorial race in the zone, is another political force in the state. He polled 461 votes to defeat Joseph Ojobo, a one-time member of the state Assembly, who polled 365 votes and Onoja, who came third with 165 votes, in the primary election held last October. Sunny Agbade, Secretary of the PDP Benue South senatorial electoral committee, said over 1,000 ad-hoc and statutory delegates participated in the primaries.

The PDP candidate, who started as a lecturer, once served as the chairman of Okpokwu Local Government Area and Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria ( ALGON) in Benue state. Like Onoja and Lawan, he had contested and lost the governorship primaries on the ticket of PDP. He was appointed Minister of Interior in President Goodluck Jonathan's administration.

Comrade Morro has everything going for him in the race. He is a man of the people and they call him "the bridge between Tiv and Idoma." "He is a crowd puller, lover of humanity, especially the vulnerable in the society," an admirer described him. Many of is supporters believe that for the ex-Minister, the senatorial election in zone C would be a walkover for him.

Many believed he had been anointed to replace David Mark in the Senate because he served the Okpokpolu 'K Idoma (Mark) diligently. He was Mark's campaign Director General at a time. Moro has a solid support base in all the nine local government areas that make up zone C, largely because as DG of Mark's campaign, he traversed the zone during a couple of political battles.

Posted: 14 Jan 2019 07:50 AM PST

Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi
Deputy Governor of Ekiti Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi has canvassed return of soldiers to checkpoints across the nation.

Egbeyemi noted the wave of kidnapping in Ekiti has increased after the withdrawal of military personnel from checkpoints across the state.

In a statement on Sunday by his Special Assistant (Media), Odunayo Ogunmola, the deputy governor called on the military to look for more alternative means of preventing men of the underworld from perpetrating their nefarious criminal activities

Egbeyemi spoke at a church service to mark this year's Armed Forces Remembrance Day at the Government House Chapel, Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

He reacted to remarks of the Brigade Commander of the Nigerian Army 323 Artillery Regiment, Akure, Brig.-Gen. James Ataguba, that "the soldiers were withdrawn from checkpoints to more fluid areas to enable them respond swiftly to any case of insecurity reported to them."

Egbeyemi said: "the General was saying they removed them (armies) from the road, we know the impact of removing them from the road.

"I pray that you have a better alternative. Immediately you removed your men from the road the kidnappers started operating.
"Although we have been assured that the alternative you will provide will be far better."

He stressed the needs to remember the fallen heroes and take proper care of those presently serving in the military.

Brig.-Gen. Ataguba said the effectiveness of the army would only be ascertained by the prompt information given to them by the citizenry.

The one-star general called on the people of the State to desist from shielding people of ominous characters and criminal elements in the society.

Commenting on the success of Nigerian Military in other countries like Liberia, Sierra Leone and in Sudan, Ataguba said the military would not rest on its oars until the security challenges in the country were finally laid to rest.

Onnoghen's arraignment at the CCT commenced earlier on Monday in his absence, with Danladi Umar, Chairman of the tribunal, granting the wish of the defence consel led by Wole Olanipekun (SAN) for the defendant to be served personally.
