See What We’ll Do To Atiku When He Returns From US – FG

Posted: 18 Jan 2019 11:43 AM PST

The Federal Government of Nigeria on Friday said the Presidential candidate of the main opposition party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, would be questioned when he returns from the United States.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, who disclosed this while briefing State House correspondents on Friday said the government would investigate Atiku's alleged role in the collapse of former Bank PHB.

He said the investigation was "following fresh evidence that he (Atiku) benefitted from slush funds that led to the collapse of Bank PHB."

Lai Mohammed stated that the government has in its position "paper trail which shows that he benefitted from N156 million, from the bank., Daily Post reports.

"It started from an internal memo dated 13 January 2009 asking that a draft in favour of Atiku Abubakar of 156 million should be raised," he added.

The Minister also noted that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was not perturbed about the latest America trip even though they dared him to visit the country.

According to him, Atiku could go ahead to obtain the American green card but that would not stop his defeat in the forthcoming election.

He, however, maintained that his claim does not imply that the former vice president will be arrested on his return.

2019 Election: What Buhari Told Herdsmen At Presidential Villa

Posted: 18 Jan 2019 10:48 AM PST

President Muhammadu Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari has appealed for accommodation and tolerance among cattle herders and farmers throughout the country.

According to a statement made available to DAILY POST by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicty, Garba Shehu, Buhari spoke at the State House when he received the leaders of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, MACBAN.

He also urged the herders to support him in the task of bringing lasting peace to the country.

The President appealed for calm among all citizens, saying that his government will give equal respect to all citizens irrespective of their ethnic, religious and geopolitical backgrounds.

President Buhari said, "I appeal to all farmers and herders for restraint, mutual respect and tolerance for one another as people destined to live together in this great country. I appeal for patience and understanding as the administration works towards lasting solutions to these conflicts."

The President called on state governors to work with the Minister of Agriculture, who he said, had been mandated to work out a solution with the states by which herders will have access to water for their livestock, and farmers will have security against destruction of their farmlands.

President Buhari attributed part of the conflict between the two groups to the climate change phenomenon and population explosion, but regretted that its politicization by selfish individuals who did not mean well for the country did not also help matters.
He emphasized that this conflict was neither religious nor ethnic, but one that his administration has foreseen and warned about.

The President added, "Before the Benue and Taraba crises, I called the Minister of Agriculture and the Governor of Central Bank and asked them to work with the state governors on rediscovering the gazetted cattle routes, clear of farmlands that had made for peace during the First Republic."

President Buhari expressed strong confidence that a way around the problem will be found, working with the states which have an important role to play in finding a lasting solution.

"Whatever it will take, I am determined to bring peace between farmers and herders. I urge you all to be patient and exercise restraint while we are working for an enduring solution," he stressed.

MACBAN, led by Alhaji Mohammed Kiruwa, informed the President that the 20-million strong body had sent the delegation to endorse his bid for a second term in office on account of the administration's achievements in office which included, the successful clampdown on kidnapping and cattle rustling; and the fight against terrorism and corrupt elements in the society.

Alhaji Kiruwa said President Buhari's personal qualities of honesty, integrity and his unparalleled commitment to the unity and progress of the nation, also informed his association's support for a renewal of his tenure.

Oshiomhole Urges President Buhari To Punish Past Govt Over Missing $16bn

Posted: 18 Jan 2019 10:35 AM PST

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole
Adams Oshiomhole, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to make it a point of "duty to man and to God" to prosecute those who wasted $16billion on electricity.

Oshiomhole urged Buhari to probe the controversial $16billion power fund "wasted" on the power sector by the administration of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Speaking during the APC Presidential campaign rally in Warri, Delta State, on Thursday, the former Edo State governor also insisted that the PDP's presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar was not fit to rule Nigeria, Daily Post reports.

Oshiomhole urged Buhari to "ensure that he follows through till he gets answers to how the $16billion appropriated by the previous PDP administration was spent and ensure that everyone involved in the mismanagement is punished.

"Uduaghan, you will recall as Governor of Delta State, despite the fact that you were a PDP Governor and I was in ACN as Governor, when PDP decided to sell BEDCO which covers Delta, Edo, Ondo and Ekiti states, we agreed that if PDP does the privatisation in the manner they wanted to do it, the economy of the South-South would be destroyed.

"We spoke loud at the National Economic Council. We told Jonathan 'don't do it'. We told PDP not to deceive the people but they went ahead. Uduaghan and I held a press conference at my private residence in Benin. We warned that this DISCO, which is owned by a family, will destroy the economy of our states.

"Today, are you not having power crisis in Delta State? Even in Edo State, the Governor is fighting every day. They took $16billion in the name of power supply. They took the money and put it in their pockets and Nigeria remains in the dark. They signed agreement of 20 years, which is difficult to revive.

"But, Mr President, in your second term, I urge you with respect sir; you must fulfill the question which we have asked. After $16billion, you will ask, where is the light? Mr. President, you have a duty to man and to God, to ensure that that question must be answered. It must be answered judiciously. It must be answered in the court of law and what people are entitled to know."

On Atiku's candidature, he said: "Yesterday I was watching the television and I saw PDP presidential candidate and a former customs officer (Atiku). He was saying in the likely event that Nigerians make the mistake of their lives to vote for him (Atiku) as President, whether they like it or not, even if he would die, that he will sell the oil reserves of Delta, Akwa Ibom, Edo states and that he would auction all oil properties of Nigeria, whether they [Nigerians] like it or not.

"If somebody puts you on notice that if you vote for him that he is going to sell your family, will you agree? Will you vote for him? When Atiku was the Vice-President, I was the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress. When they wanted to sell Nigeria Airways, when we told him 'no', he [Atiku] said he doesn't care. He just wanted to sell Nigeria Airways."

APC Reacts To Atiku's Trip To The US, Reveals Next Line Of Action

Posted: 18 Jan 2019 09:46 AM PST

PoliticsNGR, has been furnished with a statement from the the United States Chapter of the All progressives Congress, APC on the recent trip of PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar to America.

Below is the statement signed by the National Chairman of APC US chapter, Prof. Adeshegun Labinjo;

"Today, APC-USA Chapter has learnt that the former Vice President of Nigeria, Alhaji Abubakar Atiku is here in America. APC-USA does not object to Atiku or any Nigerian gaining entry into USA, once he or she meets the entry visa requirements to this great country.

However, the questionable character of the individual does not evaporate because he has stepped on the soil of America. A thief remains a thief no matter where he or she visits. Obviously Alhaji Abubakar Atiku has every reason to have kept off the USA given the cloak of corruption he is wearing. After a long spell of noticeable absence and factual concerns about Alhaji Abubakar Atiku's antecedents in the USA, arising from his dealings with former Congressman William Jefferson of Louisiana, who was convicted and served a jail term, on account of bribery resulting from a telecommunication transaction in Nigeria, Atiku is now here again in the US. Congressional records point to the fact that Atiku engaged in money laundering through his wife who was then resident in the USA.

We see Atiku, who is the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Nigeria, as a self-centered corrupt Vice President under President Obasanjo's regime. Certainly Alhaji Abubakar Atiku's entry and presence in the USA is a mockery of President Bush Presidential Proclamation 7750 which affirms the denial of US visa to foreign officials involved with corruption and other supporting legislations by the congress. APC-USA believes that Alhaji Abubakar Atiku should be held accountable for his involvement in money laundering."

Posted: 18 Jan 2019 08:02 AM PST

Reno Omokri has come down heavily on Festus Keyamo following the latter's previous claim that the US Congress is hunting for Atiku. He wrote:

Atiku's US Congress visit is a direct blow to @fkeyamo, who lied that the US Senate is hunting @Atiku. Yet, that very institution is celebrating Atiku today. If Keyamo had shame, he would hide his head in shame. But Keyamo has no shame. Stephanie Otobo proved that

Mariah Carey suing former Assistant for Blackmailing her with “Embarrassing” Videos

Posted: 18 Jan 2019 03:30 AM PST

Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey is suing her former executive assistant Lianna Azarian for secretly recording her doing "embarrassing" things and then threatened to release the videos unless she pays $8 million, TMZ is reporting.

According to court documents, Mariah Carey said she hired Azarian in March 2015 and soon after she was already buying personal stuff with Mariah's credit card and claiming she was doing so for the singer. The suit also said she traded the singer's goodwill to get deep discounts.

The suit says Azarian was secretly filming Mariah's "personal activities" which would be "embarrassing," and extremely damaging if revealed, according to TMZ.

Mariah says she fired Azarian in November 2017, and was paying her as much as $327,000 a year prior to that.

She said the blackmail began after Azarian was sacked.  TMZ reports that the lawsuit does not say what's on the videos, adding that some are described as "intimate." Mariah is suing for unspecified damages, but wants more than $3m.

Oyo APC, PDP in war of words

Posted: 18 Jan 2019 01:31 AM PST

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the weekend took a swipe at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Mr. Seyi Makinde, over his recent comments that cast aspersions on the person of Governor Abiola Ajimobi.

Makinde had accused Governor Ajimobi of using arm-twisting tactics to install his anointed candidate as governor, by forcing the Chairman of the Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA), Pastor Yinka Adepoju, to resign his position.

The PDP candidate expressed disappointment with the desperate moves of the governor to ensure his candidate wins the election. He also accused Governor Ajimobi of threatening the beneficiaries of the Federal Government N-Power Programme to vote for the APC or the programme would be stopped, saying the threat is a cheap and desperate blackmail.

But, the APC waved aside what it described as the PDP candidate's vituperations and urged the people to ignore him as a ranting politician.

The APC said the recent statements credited to Makinde showed that he is a frustrated man who should not be dignified with response anytime he vents his uncoordinated vituperations.

The APC Publicity Secretary, Dr AbdulAzeez Olatunde, in a statement, urged Makinde to focus on issues, rather than on personalities, adding that his comments proves that he is very naïve about public governance.

Dr. Olatunde added that the PDP candidate's comment on the recent rally organised by the beneficiaries of the N-Power programme was unexpected from a person positioning himself for the exalted seat of a governor. He addedg that an intelligent person will know that the PDP can never initiate, manage or sustain such a laudable and beneficial programme.

The APC stressed that rather than Makinde condemning the APC for the rally, he should rather urge beneficiaries of the failed Sure-P and YouWin programmes of the PDP to organise a similar rally for the party.

Olatunde said: "It is a pity the best hand the PDP can put forward for the Oyo governorship election is a novice in public governance. Rather than Makinde to engage on issues based campaign and tell the citizens his plans, he is busy displaying his ignorance with the statements credited to him.

"Such an individual should always be ignored but in politics, one should always give them a dose of their drug. An intelligent person would have known that an election is not won by billboards. We wonder why we will feel intimidated by Mr. Makinde's billboard. He had similar billboards in the 2015 election and still came a distant fifth. We do not need any soothsayer to predict that Makinde cannot fair better in the 2019 election.

"It is understandable that his perennial losses have led to frustration, because if not, it is only a novice that would complain about the N-Power rally which was organised by the beneficiaries themselves. To show their enthusiasm, majority of these N-Power beneficiaries painted their faces before the rally which was also used to launch a programme tagged Build the Future.

Do you hurt your partner with your words? Here’s how to know you are verbally abusive

Posted: 18 Jan 2019 01:30 AM PST

If your partner always feels like a fool after discussing with you, you may need to turn a new leaf.

Do you hurt your partner with your words?
Whether or not your partner has started complaining about the things you say and how it impacts them negatively, you should know that your words have a power over them.

Words are powerful, and even more so when people care about you and your opinion of them. Your partner cares about your opinion and your thoughts, so naturally, the things you say to him or her would carry more weight than what some other random person might say.

All in all, the goal is to be the person whose words elevate and make your partner [and other people] feel better. However, if you notice these things in your relationship, then you should know you may have been verbally abusive and it is time to turn a new leaf.

1.  Namecalling is common

If you are always calling your partner names and unflattering titles, it may be time to stop.

It's even worse if you have continued doing so despite their complaints and calls for you to stop.

2.  Too many jokes at your partner's expense

Yes, it is cool to have a sense of humour and to be able to take a joke but when that crosses to the level of downright bullying, you should stop.

Never laugh at your partner when they no longer find it funny. The goal is to laugh with each other, not at each other. There is a limit to humour in a relationship and that is it.

3.  You make them feel stupid

Has your partner ever complained about this? Then that is your cue to be more thoughtful with the things you say and the kind of words you use with your partner. If you walk away from an argument or any other conversation with your partner feeling belittled, this is definitely a sign of some sort of emotional abuse.

4.  You always have to apologise for things you say

What other sign do you need that it's time to more sensitive if your partner always needs an apology after a discussion or conversation with you?

5.  You downplay their thoughts

"This is an act of constantly opposing or devaluing your [partner's] thoughts, perceptive, or experience," Sharea Farmer, LCSW, owner of RS Counseling & Wellness Center, tells Bustle, and it's true.

When your partner constantly feels stupid with you, there is a problem. They should feel educated after learning stuff from you, not stupid. You should always do your best to ensure this.

Kwara: I’m the APC candidate known to INEC, says AbdulRazaq

Posted: 18 Jan 2019 01:23 AM PST

Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq
Kwara state All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq on Thursday said he is the authentic candidate of the party in the state.

He pointed out the dismissal of the Ishola Balogun-Fulani from the peace accord signing ceremony has put to rest rumour concerning who the real candidate of the party is.
AbdulRazaq said this at the APC stakeholders' meeting in Ilorin, the state capital.
He said: "Balogun-Fulani came to the peace accord but he was sent away.
"This reaffirms our position that we are the true members of the APC. The other ones are just doing the bidding of their masters in the PDP."
"The whole world now knows who the authentic candidate is. We are the only one known to the INEC as that event shows."
He also announced the appointment of three director-generals to coordinate his campaign.
"We have decided to do things differently by appointing three DGs, each representing each of the senatorial districts.
"We hereby announce Ambassador Yahaya Seriki as the DG for Kwara Central," according to AbdulRazaq.
He said the remaining DGs will be unveiled at the stakeholders' meetings in their zones.
He called on party members and leaders to work as one team to wrestle power from the PDP, praising the Kwara people for the massive acceptance of his aspiration and messages.
"Our campaigns have been peaceful and our people have bought into our O To Ge movement.
"The response of our opponents has been to attack our rallies. But we will not fall for their bait. We will not derail because we are bonafide of Kwara," AbdulRazaq added.

Don’t renew BEDC license, Oba of Benin tells Buhari

Posted: 18 Jan 2019 01:15 AM PST

Oba EwuareII
The Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari not to renew the license of the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) for its inability to provide electricity.

Oba Ewuare II appealed to Buhari to support Governor's Godwin Obaseki's quest to seeking alternative sources of providing electricity to meet the demand of the people of the state.

Ewuare II spoke when President Buhari paid him a courtesy visit at his palace in Benin City during his campaign tour of the state.

According to him: "Electricity supply is no doubt key to the development of any society.

"Unfortunately, over the years the people of Edo State have experienced inadequate electricity supply by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC).

"In fact, during one of the meetings of the Edo State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs, we issued a communique condemning the inefficient performance of BEDC, including its estimated billing method.

"We also called for the withdrawal of the operational license of BEDC. In its place, Traditional Rulers appealed to the federal government to encourage and support the efforts of Edo State government in seeking alternative sources of providing electricity to meet the demand of the people."

The Bénin Monarch also hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for the sustained fight against corruption and commended efforts at curtailing activities of Boko Haram insurgency in the North Eastern part of the country.

He urged politicians to be more patriotic and concerned about the security and welfare of the people.

"Politicians on their part should endeavour to be more patriotic and be concerned about the security and welfare of the people which of course is the primary purpose of government.

"As the 2019 general elections draw near, it is pertinent to call on politicians to let the interest of Nigerian and Nigerians be uppermost in their mind.

"Consequently, they should not do anything that would undermine our collective peace, unity and progress. They should not engage in acts that could truncate our democracy", he said.

The Oba of Benin noted efforts should be intensified to ensure dualization of the Benin-Auchi-Lokoja highway is completed to ease the movement of goods and services as well as save lives of motorists and travellers on that ever busy road.

Buhari commended the Benin monarch for his roles in stabilizing the nation's politics.

He assured him of never to relent in his fight against corruption and ensuring adequate security for the people of the country.

He also promised to look into the request presented by the Oba of Benin.
