I’m no longer surprised when those who earn next to nothing allegedly buy cars – RMD

RMD

Richard Mofe-Damijo makes his first post on IG as he says that he is no longer surprised when those who earn next to nothing allegedly buy cars.

Read his post below;

I'm no longer surprised when people who earn next to nothing allegedly buy multi million dollar cars and homes, after all the catch phrase is "FAKE IT TILL YOU MAKE IT" but the question is, is faking it a guarantee to making it? Absolutely not. I have never believed the principle of faking it till you make it because it is a faulty principle that often puts people in trouble so I want to share a principle that has worked for me, which is the principle of FAITH and utter total trust in God's word. The principle that is sure to not only produce results but produce results that are long lasting not the fleeting fame and fortune that comes with FAKING IT. So welcome to 2019 and instead of faking it again this year, I dare you to "FAITH IT TILL YOU MAKE IT" Happy new year again people. One Love!

The actor revealed that he never believed the principle of faking it till you make it because it is a faulty principle that often puts people in trouble. Richard Mofe-Damijo who challenged his followers to "FAITH IT TILL YOU MAKE IT", added that it is a principle that has worked for him.

Shisha worst than cigarettes – Study reveals

Posted: 01 Jan 2019 10:30 PM PST

Shisha worst than cigarettes

The levels were then compared with cigarette tobacco to establish which was more likely to pose health risks.

Scientists in Sharjah and Abu Dhabi have found that Shisha pipes posed more serious medical problems compared to cigarettes.

Ms Ayesha Mohammed, a chemistry lecturer at the University of Sharjah and the lead author of the study, said: "Traditional medwakh and Shisha pipes have no filters.

"So toxic metals can quickly enter the lungs, causing different diseases, such as lung and oral cancers, oral infections and cardiovascular diseases.

"I will never recommend dokha (medwakh) and Shisha smoking because both don't have filters, so trace elements can easily enter human body and cause harm compared to cigarettes and cause several cancers."

Published in Oxford University Press's Journal of Analytical Toxicology, the latest study looked at 13 medwakh tobacco products and three shisha products, analysing their properties to determine metal concentrations.

The levels were then compared with cigarette tobacco to establish which was more likely to pose health risks.

Levels of nickel, a known carcinogen in medwakh and shisha were found to be particularly high compared to those in cigarettes, while iron levels were found to be roughly the same.

The research was co-authored by Prof. Mohamed Al Hajjaj of the University of Sharjah; Abdus Khan of Khalifa University, Abu Dhabi; and Shabber Mohammed and Masrath Mohammed, both of Jazan University, Saudi Arabia.

Earlier this year, Ms Mohammed and several co-researchers released a study that reported much higher levels of nicotine and tar in medwakh than in cigarettes, while those in shisha levels were similar to those in cigarettes.

Dr Noordin Wadhvaniya, a respiratory medicine specialist at the Canadian Specialist Hospital in Dubai, said that people who smoke shisha would inhale 26 times the recommended limit of uranium.

"Contrary to the general belief, uranium that is inhaled will most likely damage your kidneys rather than your lungs.

"However, it does damage the respiratory tract, creates respiratory irritation and accumulation of fluid in the lungs as well," he said.

Wadhvaniya added that with one puff, shisha smokers inhaled the same amount of smoke as they got from a whole cigarette.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Shisha smoke, also called hookah or waterpipe, is a way of smoking tobacco, sometimes mixed with fruit or molasses sugar, through a bowl and hose or tube.

How to make sure you stick to your career goals this year

Posted: 01 Jan 2019 09:00 PM PST

How to make sure you stick to your career goals this year

Before you think about setting career goals for this year, you need to look back to see how well you fared in 2018. Did you feel satisfied with your job? If your answer is no, then this is the right time for you to set goals that will help you feel more fulfilled in your career.

What exactly do you want to achieve in your career this year? Is it to make more money, get a promotion or change your career path? Whatever your 2019 career goals are, setting the goals as early as the first day of the year is not a bad idea.

However, it's just not about setting the goals, it's about making effort to achieve the goals you set. Here are five easy ways to stick to the goals to achieve your career dream.

1. Figure out what you want to achieve this year

To set your career goals for the year, you need to identify what you want first. Once you figure this out, you'll have the motivation to set and stick to the goals.

2.    Write down your goals

After identifying your goals, you'll need to write them down somewhere you can easily see and remember them. You can write it in a piece of paper and paste it on your wall. You can also use a note taking app like Google Keep to record the goals and set a reminder to keep track of the goals.

3.    Develop an action plan

Creating an action plan helps you to specify steps it'll to accomplish each goal. For instance, if changing your career in 2019 is your focus you'll need to develop yourself and gain relevant skills. How long will it take you to achieve that? You can determine that in your action plan.

4.    Get an accountability partner

You may need to share your goals with someone you trust. Someone who'll always be there to keep you accountable and advise you when necessary.

5.    Monitor your progress

This is more like the evaluation stage of the whole process. It's important you track how far you've gone, what you have achieved and what you still need to do to achieve your career goals for the year.

2019 ELECTIONS: Bishop Onaiyekan Tells Nigerians Leaders To Elect

Posted: 01 Jan 2019 04:39 PM PST

John Cardinal Onaiyekan, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja
John Cardinal Onaiyekan, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, has advised Nigerians to elect leaders that will carry everybody along to make the country a better place in the next month's election.

The cleric also advised the Federal Government to ensure proper use of security agents during the election.

Onaiyakan spoke in Abuja on Tuesday during his New Year mass at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Nyanya.

He said Nigerians should pray for President Muhammadu Buhari's promise of free and fair election to come true, Daily Post reports.

The cleric said, "It is the government that is responsible for free and fair election in any country, the government has all the necessary things to make it free and fair.

"The use of security agents should be handled properly to ensure that voters are not intimidated during election."

He prayed that Nigerians would elect good leaders who would address the issues of corruption, unemployment and poor infrastructure.

"Nigeria need leaders that will carry everybody along to make the country a better place," he said.

He noted that other African countries have moved ahead leaving the giant "Nigeria" behind.

The Cardinal said that "most countries suffer from national disaster while Nigeria is faced with human disasters" urging Nigerians to serve God more than ever before.

"We should do all we can to realise that we are all children of the same God irrespective of our difference in religion, language or ethnic background," he said.

Commenting on the Pope's new year message, he said that it should be practice in Nigeria during the election.

"Political office and political responsibility thus constantly challenge those called to the service of their country to make every effort to protect those who live there and to create the conditions for a worthy and just future.

"If exercised with basic respect for the life, freedom and dignity of persons, political life can indeed become an outstanding form of charity," he quoted the Pope.

He further admonished politicians not to practice "do or die" politics.

2019: Fr. Mbaka Mobilises Support For Buhari’s Reelection Despite Catholic Ban

Posted: 01 Jan 2019 04:11 PM PST

Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka and President Muhammadu Buhari
Reverend Father Ejike Mbaka, fiery Enugu Catholic Father, has urged Nigerians to pray hard to overcome what he tagged "impending unimaginable difficulty" in 2019, urging Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari's reelection in 2019.

The call by Rev. Fr. Mbaka who is also the Founder of Adoration Ministry, Enugu, to back President Buhari, came after few weeks the Catholic Bishops in the country barred Catholic priests and religious leaders of the catholic faith from endorsing any candidate for the forthcoming general elections.

Mbaka had on Tuesday during his New Year prophetic message and crossover service stated that the type of difficulty the country was going to face was such that has not been "witnessed in its 58 years history, Tribune reports.

He also urged Nigerians to pray for the country and its leaders, adding Nigerians should support President Muhammad Buhari to continue his fight against corruption.

The clergyman insisted that the Catholic Church supports the fight against corruption and that was why it created "prayers against bribery and corruption."

"A President that is fighting corruption needs to be supported," he said.

It could be recalled that in a recent statement signed by Most Reverend Augustine Akabueze, President and Most Reverend Camillus Umoh, Secretary respectively of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), the Church declared that no priest or religious should publicly endorse politicians.

Durojaiye Kehinde Obasanjo: I Drove My Amphibious Car From Lagos To Abuja

Posted: 01 Jan 2019 04:02 PM PST

Amphibious Car
A Nigeria inventor and researcher, Durojaiye Kehinde Obasanjo, said he drove his locally made amphibious jet car for over 15 hours from Lagos to Abuja in his quest to meet President Muhammadu Buhari and the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The car, which he said, moves on land, water, and air, was designed like an aircraft with wings and propellers making some residents to pass it for a moving aircraft on first sight on Abuja roads.

Obasanjo, who said he was going to Nigeria Airspace Research Management Authority to first report to the authorities, had stopovers at some bus stops on the airport road attracting the attention of pedestrians who touched, admired and took selfies with the seemingly strange automobile, Daily Trust reports.

"The vehicle was designed to move on the land, sea and fly. But out of the three operations, I have achieved two, presently I moved it from the land and sea and it has been tested and drove all the way from Lagos down to Abuja for over 15 hours," he said adding that he came to Abuja to see the president.

On why he desires to meet the president and vice president, he said "There was a car that I built to be mass produced in Nigeria to boost our GDP but some local government officials in Lagos destroyed that their boss told me it was an illegal venture.

"I reported the case to Governor Ambode of Lagos and he said they should meet with me but they ignored his directive. That is why I came to Abuja to report to the necessary quarters.

"So, I want to meet Mr President and Vice President to let them know what is going on how they destroyed that vehicle."

He said the car, made from junks has been built for over one year in Lagos and has attracted an international audience and media houses including CNN which did a short documentary on the invention.

"That is why I go to the length of using junks so that people will see it and know what we can do. It runs on fuel and solar energy alternatively," he said.

On his plan for commercialisation of the vehicle, "That is my intention and we want Nigeria to be the first to mass produce it for commercialisation. We want a car that moves on the land, sea and can fly. That is a breakthrough in the history of the transportation system in the world."

He said the vehicle was installed with a floating device that makes it move on water "that is it cannot sink and it moves like watercraft when in water and moves like a normal car when on the ground and moves like aircraft when flying.

2019 ELECTIONS: Nigerians Will Judge Buhari By His Actions, Not Words – Atiku

Posted: 01 Jan 2019 03:54 PM PST

Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and President Muhammadu Buhari
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the main opposition party in Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says he welcomes President Muhammadu Buhari' s New Year message in which the President said the 2019 election should not be a do - or-die affair.

Reacting to the President 's message in Abuja, the former Vice President said leaders should lead by example by preaching peace at all times .

Buhari had said in his New Year message that , elections need not be a do - or- die affair, and that politicians should not approach them with mortal fear .

Atiku , however, noted in a statement that it was not enough for the President to condemn do - or- die politics if he cannot control the activities of overzealous aides, including the country' s security chiefs, especially the Inspector General of Police whose activities lately gives him away as a partisan player in negation of his constitutional role, the Punch reports.

The PDP presidential candidate advises Buhari to go beyond lip service and urge security chiefs to be politically neutral during the election , adding that their loyalty to the constitution doesn't include putting themselves at the service of the ruling party at the expense of free and fair elections.

Atiku also called on President Buhari to follow the example of former President Goodluck Jonathan , who, in 2015 , who he said walked the talk of the 2015 elections not being worth the blood of any Nigerian.
According to Atiku , Jonathan lived by his noble words and statesmanship when he conceded defeat without hesitation, thereby contributing to peaceful conduct of the election .

The PDP presidential candidate also reminded Buhari that it was not enough to "preach peace when he cannot publicly condemn the violent behaviour of his supporters who harass , molest and publicly humiliate his opponents and their supporters. "

Muslim Group Condemns January 1st As Public Holiday For Christians To Enjoy

Posted: 01 Jan 2019 03:10 PM PST

Professor Ishaq Akintola
1st January, 2019
PRESS RELEASE:
1ST JANUARY: MURIC CONDEMNS FG FOR BIAS AGAINST MUSLIMS

The Federal Government declared today, 1st January 2018, as a public holiday thereby keeping faith with the practice since colonial days into Nigeria's post-independence period.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has condemned the Federal Government (FG) for granting official recognition to 1st January for Christians to enjoy while ignoring the myriad of petitions from Muslims dating back to the 60s demanding recognition for 1st Muharram as the first day of the Islamic calendar.

This was contained in a press statement signed by the director and founder of the Islamic human rights organization, Professor Ishaq Akintola, today, Tuesday 1st January, 2019.

"Nigerian Muslims feel marginalised. The reality of the Nigerian situation has subjected Muslims in the country to religious segregation. Today 1st January 2019 was declared by FG in recognition of the Christo-Western Gregorian calendar. This happens every year. In essence, FG recognizes the Christian calendar but spurns the Islamic calendar despite several petitions and appeals to it dating back to the 60s. In particular, MURIC has consistently made this demand at least for the past ten years.

This is religious apartheid. A society which desires peace must embrace justice and fairness. Justice is the soul of peace. Nobody can deny one and enjoy the other. It is this socio-economic imbalance that has been responsible for the absence of genuine and enduring peace in Nigeria.

Muslims suffered under colonial rule as every policy of the colonial master was designed to eliminate all vestiges of Islam. It is most unfortunate that successive post-independence regimes have pursued this lopsided policy and refused to review the situation. It is disappointing to note that Nigerian governments headed by Muslims have equally turned deaf ears to our complaints.

"From Abubakar Tafawa Balewa to Muritala Muhammad, from Ibrahim Babangida to Sanni Abacha, Musa Yaradua and now Muhammadu Buhari, no Muslim head of state had the political will to bell the cat. Though we are not unaware of the strategy of agents of neo-colonialism whose stock-in-trade is to blackmail Muslim heads of state with the 'Islamisation' agenda in order to put them permanently on the defence, we expect that every Nigerian leader must possess the courage to enthrone justice and equity.

"In this regard, we applaud state governments in both Northern and Southern Nigeria which have so far recognized the Islamic calendar and declared 1st Muharram as holiday. Most worthy of mention are former governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State and governor Isiaka Ajimobi of Oyo State.

The fact that state governments did it and heaven did not fall shows that FG also can do it. What FG lacks is the political will. We are telling FG today that the courage to fail is cheap while the will to succeed is worth a king's ransom. FG needs to wake up from slumber and do the needful. Justice delayed is justice denied. The time to attend to our grievance is now.

In view of this glaring injustice and the obvious lack of political will on the part of FG, MURIC hereby calls on Nigerian Muslims to prepare for a change in tactics. From now onwards, if FG continues with its lackadaisical attitude to the demands of Muslims for parity with their Christian neighbours, we will accompany our civil rights demands with peaceful protests. This is because it appears that the only language the government understands is physical appearance of agitators.

FG is the father of all. It must not be seen to favour one against the other. It must give all equally. A father who wants peace in the family must treat all the children equally. This is too glaring and FG can no longer pretend not to know that Muslims are asking for equal treatment.

The only difference in our struggle will be its peaceful nature because MURIC's motto is 'Dialogue, Not Violence' and we will not abandon this golden principle. To start with, we are instructing our members throughout the federation to sit at home on 1st Muharram 1441 which corresponds to 31st August, 2019. However, Muslims will observe the sit-at-home on Friday, 30th August, 2019 to give more effect to their demand for parity and civil liberty.

"We refuse to be third class citizens in our own country. Nigeria belongs to all of us. We are not asking for any favour. We are demanding our Allah-given fundamental human right. Nobody has the right to take from us what Almighty Allah has given us. We will not be slaves in our land.

"In conclusion, we give notice to FG to brace up for peaceful confrontation with Nigerian Muslims or to grant equal status to 1st Muharram by declaring the day as a public holiday like 1st January."

Senator Shehu Sani
Senator Shehu Sani, the Senator representing Kaduna Central, has advised Igbos and Yorubas on next step to take to secure the promised presidential ticket of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in 2023.

Sani, on Tuesday, urged Igbos and Yorubas to demand a written agreement from Buhari's administration against 2023.

Sani gave the advice on Tuesday while wading into the controversy surrounding which region takes over the presidency from incumbent president, Muhammadu Buhari, who is the 2019 flag bearer of the APC.

But both the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Boss Mustapha and the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola had at different occasions said the South East will produce the next President if they support Buhari in 2019.

Lending his voice on the matter, the Kaduna lawmaker advised whichever region being promised the presidency to demand a written agreement from Buhari and his party.

Sani said the agreement must be signed in the presence of well known religious and traditional office holders.

The tweet read: "If they promise your geopolitical zone political power in 2023,demand for a written irreversible and irrevocable agreement, signed by their presidential candidates and party chieftains and witnessed by respected traditional and religious leaders."

He added that 'gentleman agreement is a hoax and a mirage."

2019: Fr Mbaka gives out prophecies, reveals terrible thing that will happen in Nigeria

Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka
Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, the Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry, Enugu, Nigeria, AMEN, has released his prophecies for the year 2019.

Mbaka urged Nigerians to pray hard to overcome what he tagged 'impending unimaginable difficulty' in 2019.

The fiery preacher disclosed this on Tuesday during his New Year prophetic message and crossover service.

Mbaka stated that the type of difficulty the country was going to face was such that has not been "witnessed in its 58 years history."

The Catholic priest also urged Nigerians to pray for the country and its leaders.

He said Nigerians should support President Muhammad Buhari to continue his fight against corruption.

The clergyman insisted that the Catholic Church supports the fight against corruption and that was why she created "prayers against bribery and corruption."

"A President that is fighting corruption needs to be supported," he said.
