Sheyman says some celebrities do not like the idea of other celebs prospering

Sheyman
Okay guys, today on celebrities shaking tables, Sheyman thinks some of his colleagues are not happy when others are prospering.

The foremost music producer and singer made this known via his Instagram page on Monday, February 18, 2019. In his post, he says he wonders why some celebrities do not like the idea of other celebrities doing well.

"Why do some stupid celebrities hat progress? Why don't you want the next best man to rise? Why should he go and start from the bottom when he is fit for the task at the top? Can we at least help ourselves from poverty? Later you people will still be the same celebs to beg Nigerians to donate for your kidney problems surgery! Awon werey Oluriburuko! Check my page for more updates," he wrote.

We really don't know who Sheyman was referring to but it's obvious someone got to his nerves, hence this public bashing.

This is not the first time celebrities have come out to drag their colleagues in the industry over the same issues. Recall a few months ago when Yul Edochie talked about no love in Nollywood.

"There's no love anywhere, not only in Nollywood"- says Yul Edochie

Yul Edochie has joined the increasing list of celebrities who have come out to speak about Nollywood since the now famous video where Kevin Ikeduba slammed the industry went viral. In his tweet on Thursday, December 13, 2018, the actor turned politician said apart from Nollywood, there is no love anywhere rather everyone has to love themselves.

"They say there's no love in Nollywood. I laugh. Brethren there's no love anywhere, not only in Nollywood. The world is tough, it's a jungle out here. My advice: Don't wait for anyone to love you, love yourself, help yourself. Work hard, pray & do what's right in the sight of God," he tweeted.

This tweet from Yul Edochie is coming also at a time a number of celebrities in Nollywood have come out to slam the industry over its unfriendly and unreceptive nature.

Empire producers have wielded the big stick against Jussie Smollett following the 'attack scandal.'

'Empire' writers are reportedly busy making edits in the original script, which scheduled Jussie for nine scenes and a big musical number.

The medium further reported that Jussie's character, Jamal, was originally scheduled to appear in nine scenes and a big musical number in the second to the last episode but this would no longer be the case.
'Empire' producers reportedly slash Jussie Smollett's role from 9 to 4 scenes
The episodes which are currently being shot will see Jamal appearing in four scenes and his musical number has been taken out of the plot.

It was also reported that Jussie will no longer be the main focus in the remaining four scenes as he would be flanked by a number of cast members.

To this end, Jussie will be spending way less time on set without rehearsal.

It was reported that Jussie Smollett, who plays the role of 'Jamal Lyon' in 'Empire,' will enjoy less screen time. This move, TMZ reports, is in the wake of a growing sentiment that he staged the widely reported attack on him.

AY confirms someone offered Alex a Range Rover and she rejected it
Few days ago, Big Brother Naija star, Alex, celebrated her 23rd birthday. Her team threw her a surprise birthday party and presented her with a car.

Afterwards, the dancer and model was trolled for getting a panel beaten car while others said the car was given to her by a man and not her fans.

This prompted celebrity stylist, Swanky Jerry to reveal that Alex rejected a 2018 Range Rover presented to her as gift by someone.

He made this known on Instagram in an attempt to lay to rest the claims made against Alex.

According to Swanky, the car gift Alex received on her birthday was a gesture of love from her fans who contributed to make it a reality.

Though Swanky's revelation was still in doubt but Comedian AY has now confirmed it in a live video on Instagram.

He said;

"I was aware that someone actually offered her a car, which she rejected, because of her dignity. She said she can't accept the car. Because she know say no man go just carry car come give you, and I think that was touching."

Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji “Even if Osas was ever wrong, Gbenro’s outburst is telling of his poor character

Posted: 19 Feb 2019 10:30 PM PST

Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji "Even if Osas was ever wrong, Gbenro's outburst is telling of his poor character
A Nigerian social entrepreneur, Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji has taken to social media to share her opinion on Gbenro's public outburst on his wife, Osas, neglecting their daughter.

Toyosi, who is a human development expert, advised the couple on balancing their work and private life.

While at that, she castigated Gbenro, who is an absentee father and husband, for going on social media with the intent to destroy Osas.

According to her, even if Osas was ever wrong, Gbenro's outburst is telling of his poor character.

In her opinion, Osas "married down" and Gbenro is undeserving of Osas' Love

She further said she does not condone nor applauds Osas's actions and she hopes she changes for the better.

Read her full post:

ON OSAS & GBENRO
This is my Son in my office, about 13months old in these photos in January 2019.
Mine is perhaps one of the most insane schedules a working woman can have.

On this day, I had important meetings at work, my Husband had travelled and my Son was ill, I was scared to take him to Creche so I packed a crib, his bags et al and took him to work. I took breaks in between calls & typing emails to change diapers and feed him.

I worked when he slept. That day, I learnt something very simple in a very profound way – RESPONSIBILITY TEACHES EMPATHY.

My colleagues came to check on my son & I seized the chance to tell the women to feel free to bring their children to work on challenging days like this if they have any.

People who work with me know I give a lot of room & support to our female staff. I menstruate so I understand the days they are moody & cranky. I know people have to come to work on days their boyfriends are breaking their hearts. Women go through multiple challenges in the line of duty while chinning up Professional Careers.

I read the ignominious public commentary Gbenro published on social media about his Wife, Osas yesterday & I cringe for Women who "marry down".

To Bosses at Work & Husbands at home, if you've ever been responsible in your Life, you'll know how to care & nurture. No one will need to teach you to be kind & liberal.

Even if Osas was ever wrong, that puerile outburst from an absentee husband/father is telling of his poor character.

I don't hold brief for Osas & I hope she adjusts where/if she should but a Man whose diatribe on social media was intended to destroy you is unfit for your Leadership & undeserving of your Love.

One more reason I remain thankful for my healthy self esteem & radical mind which made me not marry till I turned 31 despite societal pressure but which also made me wait & live my life on my own terms until I met a grounded & solid Man who loves & respects me.

Men don't come factory fitted or with NAFDAC No. so there are no perfect men anywhere but Never Marry Down Ladies. Keep Growing – Everything Good will come.

P.S. Enemies, It's a Monday so I'm working and this has nothing to do with Feminism.

Shade Ladipo: “Ladies please don’t marry down”

Shade Ladipo: "Ladies please don't marry down"
Following Gbenro Ajibade's outburst, over wife, Osas Ighodaro's bad parenting skills, Shade Ladipo has advised women to be mindful of the type of men they choose to marry.

Shade, who got married weeks ago, warned women never to marry down by settling for men who will feel threatened by their success.

She wrote:

Usually I do a video but I decided to save you from my ugly mug today. My Musings is about Marrying Up or Marrying Down

While I will focus on Marrying down, in my opinion Marrying Up also has its huge challenges. I'm pained when I see amazing, hardworking and determined women try to be put down by Society, Culture and then by Family

Family in this case is your spouse. Pls do not put yourself under any undue pressure to get married and then end up with a loser who will be threatened every time you breathe
Your calling is great and the man you marry must be able to take it and run with it

You need a man who understands that he must be your champion on and off the field. A man who is ready to be in the shadows so you can shine. Most women are ready to do this for their men so My dear pls don't for 1 second think you don't deserve such. Also pls let me debunk the lies ….

The man who will love you and worship you is waiting for you, don't allow anyone fool you into believing that your Age or Stage will reduce those chances. Cock & Bull. Your chances are as high as YOU want them

Your self confidence and Self love will attract exactly the kind of man you deserve. There is no Marriage O'Clock and if pikin is your worry then Freeze your eggs or Adopt. Your happiness and Peace should always be Number 1. Don't settle for anything less. Don't Marry Down. Don't Marry Up

Marry your Partner. Someone who sees you. Someone who accepts you. Someone who wants you to do better than him. Someone who loves you more than himself. I always felt Osas was Marrying Down and from that illiterate rant, I was right

Movie producers give update on Baba Suwe's health
Movie makers, under the aegis of Theatre Arts and Motions Pictures Producers' Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) has denied abandoning one of its members, Babatunde Omidina, in the hospital.

Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, is currently battling with an undisclosed illness.

Amusan, popularly known as Mr Latin, said the association had been taking care of the veteran actor's medical bills since 2017, under the administration of immediate-past President, Dele Odule.

He said: "I have just instructed the Lagos State executive of the association to check on him (Baba Suwe) to ascertain his health progress.

"I can tell you that we have not abandoned Baba Suwe, as well as any of our members, as being speculated in some quarters by mischief-makers."

JUST IN: See Reasons DSS Withdrew Invitation To INEC National Commissioner

Posted: 19 Feb 2019 01:02 PM PST

DSS

The Department of State Services, DSS has withdrawn its invitation to the National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in charge of logistics, Okechukwu Ibeanu.

It was earlier reported that Ibeanu alongside Chidi Nwafor, the director of ICT; Ken Ukeagu, director of procurement; Osaze Uzzi, director of voter education and publicity; and Bimbo Oladunjoye, the assistant director of ICT were asked to report at DSS offices in Abuja by 2 pm on Tuesday.

It's unclear why the agency would dropped its decision, but sources hinted that some prominent Nigerians intervened because of the "timing".

This invitation was initially believed to be related to the fiasco that led to the postponement of the general election by one week.

Mahmood Yakubu, a professor and INEC chairman, had blamed the postponement on sabotage and logistical issues.

Nigeria Decides 2019: Obasanjo, Atiku, Wike, Others Colluding With INEC Officials To Rig Saturday’s Poll – Abubakar Tsav

Posted: 19 Feb 2019 12:30 PM PST

Abubakar Tsav

Mr. Abubakar Tsav, former Commissioner of Police, in charge of Lagos State, has accused ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo and the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, of plotting to rig Saturday's election in favour of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The former Police boss alleged that Obasanjo and Wike plan to rig the election by allegedly conniving with some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Tsav in a statement issued yesterday, said: "The evil that was planned against Nigeria by Chief Obasanjo and his prot̩g̩s РAtiku, Wike and others is beyond imagination. It was as if he has sensed that Nigerians will vote in a way that will disgrace him with his failed alliances and lying letter so he decided the only way to save face is to manipulate the elections by compromising the umpire.

"A last minute realisation of the crimes that have been committed in INEC is what jolted its chairman out of his lethargy to postpone the polls in the hope that remedial actions can still be taken to reverse the damage that the PDP, Obasanjo and Atiku have done to its credibility.

"Before now, there have been several calls on these men to desist from their acts that are capable of plunging the country into crisis but it is now apparent that they are not amenable to reason. Instead of retracing their steps they have approached their western allies to mount undue pressure on INEC while unfairly accusing the government of the country.

"They are activating their international enforcers to declare the elections as fraudulent while ignoring the capacity of this irresponsible move to cause widespread unrest.

"The media is also replete with fake news they are pushing to the effect that the elections would be rigged by the ruling party while in reality, they, the PDP, are the ones that are desperate to win in the Obasanjo 'do or die' style."

Breaking: Hoodlums abduct Ogun market leaders, disrupt ‘TraderMoni’ distribution

Posted: 19 Feb 2019 12:08 PM PST

Thugs
Scores of hoodlums swooped on the seedy Lafenwa market on Tuesday afternoon and disrupted the distribution of the Federal Government's Enterprise and Empowerment Programme (GEEP) popularly called 'TraderMoni,' forcing distributors and beneficiaries to flee in different directions for safety.

They whisked away the Iyaloja and Babaloja of Lafenwa market to an unknown location.

The hoodlums, numbering over 50, The Nation gathered, were not deterred by the fact that the Lafenwa Divisional Police Headquarters situates directly beside the market but proceeded to attack the handlers of the GEEP 'TraderMoni' who had arrived the market to document and verify the traders' data with any valid means of identification such as Permanent Voter Card(PVC).

Many of the prospective beneficiaries, who were yet to get their bio-data captured before the hoodlums struck and disrupted the exercise, alleged a key member of the Abeokuta North West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) led the hoodlums to the venue and sacked everybody before abducting the Babaloja and Iyaloja.

However, The Nation learnt the Iyaloja of Lafenwa market regained freedom hours later and returned to the market.

However, the Chairman of Abeokuta North West LCDA, Monsuru Shorunke when contacted, told reporters that he was the one that led some "boys" to Lafenwa when they heard that some politicians "were giving the traders money in exchange with their PVCs."

He said: "We heard that some people came to Lafenwa market, collecting people's PVCs from the traders with their names and PVCs numbers.

"And governor said we should go out and find out: it was Governor Amosun that sent us.

"I was in front of the governor when we heard the information. So, I collected Iyaloja's phone number from Hon. Akintona. We took Iyaloja to the governor's house along with Babaloja of Lafenwa.

"We believe it was wrong for them to come and collect people's PVCs with numbers before Election Day. That was what they came to do at Lafenwa.

"My message is that we should be vigilant. Not only the electorates but all the politicians in Ogun state. We must be vigilante.

"These people are ready to confuse our programme by giving them money.

They want to give them money because of the coming election and it is wrong. No, that is wrong because, that information is not right."

Reactions trail Buhari’s comment on ballot box snatchers

Posted: 19 Feb 2019 12:00 PM PST

Muhammadu Buhari
President Muhammadu Buhari's recommendation of maximum punishment for ballot box snatchers drew reactions from various quarters yesterday.

The President's comment triggered arguments among senior lawyers with some pitching tent with the President.

They said that only those with the intent to snatch ballot boxes will be afraid of such remarks. Others felt that such directive, if carried out, would amount to extra-judicial killing.

House of Representatives Speaker Yakubu Dogara faulted the directive.

Dogara told reporters yesterday in Abuja that the President's directive amounted to a call for extrajudicial killings of would be electoral offenders.

He said: "These statements clearly indicate that our democracy has become the victim of a full-blown dictatorship, when one considers that a democratically elected President would give a directive that is in clear violation of the laws of the land, which by his oath of office, he is to defend and protect.

"In view of this statement by the President, it is obvious that the military has been given a central role and coopted into the conduct of the election despite the fact that they have no constitutional role in our electoral process".

Lagos lawyer Femi Falana said Buhari must have made the statement to scare riggers.

He said: "I want to believe that the President made the statement with a view to instil fear in the polluted minds of intended ballot snatchers. Without any attempt to support electoral offenders the act of snatching ballot boxes does not attract the death penalty. In fact it is a misdemeanor whose penalty is 24 months imprisonment by virtue of section 129(4) of the Electoral Act. "I plead with security officers not to risk their own lives by engaging in extrajudicial killing of ballot snatchers and other electoral offenders. It may interest President Buhari to know that due to the culture of impunity in the land the hundreds of electoral offenders including sponsors and perpetrators of politically motivated killings arrested by the police in the last six months have been let off the hook due to pressure from highly connected criminally minded members of the political class. I am tempted to call on the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN) to advise the President to withdraw the illegal directive as soon as possible because similar illegal orders of two former Presidents of had led to the brutal massacre of unarmed people in Odi, Bayelsa State (1999), Zaki Biam, Benue State (2001) and Gbaramotu, Delta State (2009)," he said.

Lawyer and human rights activist Monday Ubani hailed the Buhari's directives.

He said the only way to ensure that the election would be free and fair is to have the ballot boxes and voters protected by security agents at the polling units.

Ubani cited the case of Abia State where he alleged that election results had been prepared for election that was postponed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).  "I travelled to my village in Abia last Saturday for the election. The party that wrote the election results has been threatening people not to come out this Saturday for voting if they love themselves. They have hired thugs from neighbouring states to disrupt the rescheduled election on Saturday. This is why I'm supporting the President's directives that those involved in rigging should be severely dealt with. The Federal Government should massively deplored military and police to polling units".

The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, said the directive was timely.

He said: "Election rigging is worse than robbery; it has become a way of life because since 1999 no one has been brought to book".

Igbokwe said with this directive President Buhari would restore sanity to our electoral process. This is the kind of change I voted for.

But the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) spokesman in Lagos State, Taofik Gani, described the president's directive as a panicky measure. He said the directive is capable of sending wrong signal to innocent voters who may decide not to come out to exercise their civic duties out of fear.

To him, armed security men should keep away from the polling units. Anyone found rigging should be arrested and prosecuted.

Southwest APC chieftain Ayo Afolabi said snatching the ballot is like snatching peoples' hope and aspiration.

"For someone to go out of his way, to start snatching ballot boxes, amount to snatching the future of Nigerians. So, if the man snatching ballot boxes loses his life in the process, to hell with him," he said.

Lagos State APC chieftain Lanre Razak said whoever "tries to disturb the process of election is trying to plunge the country into chaos and probably war".

He said: "The President is not saying they should shoot them, but the punishment for people who are trying to plunge the only country we have into anarchy is severe punishment. The President is saying that the existing laws provide for punishment."

Seyi Sowemimo SAN, Rotimi Jacobs (SAN) and lawyer-activist Jiti Ogunye said it was wrong to see the president's comments as a call to security forces to kill or harm innocent people.

But Sebastine Hon (SAN), Sylva Ogwemoh (SAN) and Abiodun Owonikoko (SAN) said the statement could be interpreted as a call to jungle justice and murder.

Sowemimo reasoned that the President was merely sending a strong message that electoral offences would no more be tolerated.

He said: "We should be charitable enough not to ascribe to the President that he wants to encourage security agents to kill people. I think with the postponement and the reasons given for the postponement, you can tell that it's been a disappointment for everybody, including the president himself and maybe more so for him, because it may have appeared as if it is a failure on his administration.

"So, I think the man was trying to send a very strong message out there, that all these things that have militated against elections going on, like buildings being burnt down and all that.

"I think it's just right that he should let people know that we really can't afford to have any disruption in our plans anymore. So, I don't think he's asking them to murder people."

He added: "The duty of the president is to enforce all laws in our country. That's why they are the executive arm of the government. They are to enforce laws and to stop criminality in the land. So, he's merely saying the obvious, that 'I will enforce the law, I will punish the offender according to law'. So, what is unconstitutional about that?

"There are laws that prohibit crime, electoral offences and so on. So, if you contravene them, he is saying he will enforce the law. He is merely saying the obvious. What is his duty if he cannot say that? Then who else will do it? That's executive function."

Ogunye said there is a constitutional basis for killing an armed ballot box snatcher.

He said: "When a ballot box snatcher, armed with offensive weapons, including a gun, is shot dead by security agents, he has been brought to justice in accordance with the law."

He referred to Section 33(2)(a-c) of the 1999 Constitution.

It says: "A person shall not be regarded as having been deprived of his life in contravention of this section, if he dies as a result of the use, to such extent and in such circumstances as are permitted by law, of such force as is reasonably necessary –

"(a) for the defence of any person from unlawful violence or for the defence of property;

"(b) in order to effect a lawful arrest or to prevent the escape of a person lawfully detained; or

"(c) for the purpose of suppressing a riot, insurrection or mutiny."

But Hon disagreed. He said the president's order was "ultra vires his powers and is clearly unconstitutional.

"Section 33(1) of the 1999 Constitution has guaranteed right to life as a fundamental right, to be infringed upon only in execution a death sentence imposed by a court of law; or in suppression of a riot/insurrection; or when one is exercising his right of self defence. Snatching of ballot boxes or commission of electoral offences is not one of the exceptions or limitations of right to life.

"Mr. President's order is, without any shred of doubt, unlawful, unconstitutional, null and void. Nobody should obey such an order. The international community, perhaps in hindsight, preempted the President, when it issued stern warnings against instigating, ordering or participating in violence during the election period.

"Let me quickly add that pronouncements like this further alienate Nigeria from the enlightened global community and regress us to the backward abyss of time. I advise the President to withdraw that directive without delay."

For Ogwemoh, the comment was "sad", coming from "the respected office of a President in a democracy.

"The President cannot be heard to be calling for violence or recourse to self-help in a country regulated by laws. Perhaps if the President had signed the new Electoral Act into law it would have taken care of the seeming frustration inherent in the statement. The point again must be made that no political office, no matter how high it may be, is worth the blood of any Nigerian."

Owonikoko viewed the president's language as being "not too suited for the occasion and time."

He said: "As a charge for a battle ready fully mobilized army to be unleashed on an enemy of the state , the President would have scored a (five)-star.  To threaten voters who prove unruly or fall foul of electoral laws with ruthless treatment; or to be prepared to pay with their lives is a cynical euphemism for saying that they will be risking state sanctioned-extra-judicial death."

•Tinubu: President didn't order Nigerians to be shot summarily •Comment to scare riggers, says Falana

•When it's legal, by Ogunye

President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday warned would-be-ballot box snatchers —it may be your last unlawful action.

He spoke in Abuja at the opening of an emergency National Caucus meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party's secretariat.

The President also warned politicians, who may be angling to sponsor thugs to disrupt the rescheduled elections. He said that such sponsors would be doing so at a great risk.

Besides, the last may not have been heard of the 11th hour postponement last Saturday of the Presidential and National Assembly polls by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Buhari hinted yesterday that the electoral umpire will have to explain what went wrong – after the elections.

The President, who got the news of the shift at 4.30am on Saturday described the action as "most unfortunate" because INEC had all the time and the resources to deliver on its mandate.

"After the elections, we have to know exactly what happened; we cannot accept incompetence," Buhari said.

The APC Caucus is a statutory organ of the party chaired by the President.

Its members include the vice president and all the party's former and serving governors and members of its National Working Committee (NWC), among others.

At yesterday's meeting were: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; Senate Leader Ahmed Lawan; Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; National Chairman Adams Oshimhole; governors and senators.

The President, who had ordered security agencies to ensure free and fair elections, said that such act would be the last unlawful act the ballot snatcher will engage in.

According to him, he had garnered adequate support of the electorate to guarantee his electoral victory.

He, however, stressed the need for APC members to reassure their constituents to come out and vote on the rescheduled dates.

The President said: "I do not expect anybody to cause any disturbance. The security agencies have identified hot spots and flash points and should be prepared to move. We have made as much arrangement as possible for them as much as the country can afford.

"Anybody who decides to snatch ballot boxes or lead thugs to disturb the process, may be that will be the last unlawful action you will take.

"We have directed the military and other security agents to be ruthless. We are not going to be blamed that we want to rig elections.

"I want Nigerians to be respected and let them vote whoever they want across the parties. I am not afraid of that. I went round the 36 states and the FCT (Federal Capital City) and I think I have enough support across the country.

"So, I want to warn anybody who thinks he has enough influence in his locality to lead a body of thugs to snatch ballot boxes or disturb the voting system, he will do it at the expense of his own life."

The President also explained that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had all the time and resources and didn't have to wait for only six hours to cancel the elections and tell the public it was impossible.

He said: "Definitely, the reason such incompetence manifested has to be explained to the nation. After the elections, we have to know exactly what happened and who is responsible.

"Otherwise, our efforts to make sure that this system is acceptable would have been eroded. The constitution and the law protected INEC. But they must not take us for granted.

"If, for example, the National Assembly refused to approve what they wanted, INEC would have had moral reasons why they couldn't perform. If the time of four years of election was not constitutionally obeyed by the government, INEC would have a case.

"But we don't understand the reason for this inefficiency and we have to go into details after the election to find out who is responsible."

Lauding the party leadership for its commitment, the President said: "That was why we sat and said we must have committed leaders in all constituencies to be our agents. We also sat down and worked out the least the party should do for our agents so that they will not depend on anybody or say I am going to drink water or I am going to toilet.

"We made all those arrangements and put it before the governors and chairmen of the parties. Where the APC has no governors, the governorship candidate and state chairmen were given that assignment.

"I am satisfied that this instruction has been passed down. Right now, we have so much to do and so, we should now go back to our loyal members in all constituencies so that if anything happens, we will know who to blame.

"We have told our constituents to be patient and react in very mature way by going peacefully and vote and depend on party representatives in the polling units."

Oshiomhole accuses INEC of colluding with anti-democratic forces

Posted: 19 Feb 2019 11:45 AM PST

Adams Oshiomhole
ALL Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman Adams Oshiomhole is not done with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the stoppage of the Presidential and National Assembly elections last Saturday.

Oshiomhole believes that some elements within INEC are colluding with "anti-democratic forces" to push the general elections to a point where it becomes impossible to hold as guaranteed under the law.

The chairman, who spoke at the emergency National Caucus meeting of the ruling party, also said that the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, has no legal power to stop parties from continuing with their campaigns.

He said that the APC, as a law abiding party, will go ahead with its campaigns until Thursday –  in line with the 48-hour before election, as provided for by law.

The APC chairman insisted that some of the staff deployed by the commission have been identified as working with the opposition in their states. He cited Akwa Ibom.

Oshiomhole said that allowing the "anti-democratic forces" to have their way would give victory to those calling for an interim government. He urged the President to act.

"The President should invoke the powers of state to ensure that any institution of state that has misbehaved, anybody that is involved in that act, particularly actions that weaken the fabrics of our democracy, you have a duty to trigger the process that will compel everyone involved in this to account," he said.

The APC chair said he was sure INEC knew it was going to postpone the elections and shared the information with the PDP, while pretending that all was well.

He said: "As a governing party with huge a support base, we were determined not to disappoint our members and those who believe in our party. We mobilised our members to ensure that on Saturday, the 16th of February, all our polling points were manned by people who are competent and passionate about our party to function as agents of our party.

"We did what is expected of a responsible political party. Unfortunately, we saw INEC magic. Gradually, as if it is a joke, we woke up to the worst; INEC postponed the elections by one week without adducing conducive reasons.

"In moments like this, those who are weak hearted will give up while those determined will fight on. Whoever is involved in this action designed to frustrate our party and members as well as the electorate, it is our collective duty to put them to shame by using the period we have effectively to assure Nigerians that one setback cannot be the end.

"Our commitment to democracy is not negotiable. Our people's determination to re-elect Mr. President is not at the mercy of anybody, including INEC. Many have resolved that the more INEC tries to frustrate our people, the more determined we are. We want to assure Nigerians that we are committed to a free and fair election and we are not going to compromise on that.

"It will be out of place to ignore all the hidden speculations surrounding the unjustified postponement of the election by INEC. This date was fixed by INEC about two and half years ago. It was not imposed on them and it was difficult to accept that in all of the period at their disposal, INEC did not know what ought to be where and at one time or the other to guarantee free and fair election.
"INEC chairman talked about the huge challenges of managing an election like this. In 1999, we conducted election and there were lessons to learn from that and we have had elections thereafter.

"One had expected that 19 years down the road, INEC would have studied the process of its predecessor and it turned out not to be so. As we speak, we have questions we want INEC to provide answers to. For election to be free, fair and credible, the man with the key responsibility is INEC.

"We have conveyed to INEC, the need to move some officers who have stayed too long in particular locations and have become part of the establishment in those locations and therefore may not be able to co duct free and fair election.

"We have pointed out some Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs) who have become so comfortable in their current states who are embedded in the state authority in their respective states.

"In the past, when issues like this are raised, particularly when they can be proven, INEC leadership is known to have used administrative mechanism to change and redeploy. This INEC insists and the more you complain about a compromised officer, the more they are determined to keep the compromised officer.

"For example, an officer in the Southsouth, a REC, chose to use the governor's special assistant to superintendent over the training. How can our brother and sisters in Akwa Ibom State have confidence when the recruitment, process and deployment of the ad hoc staff is done between INEC and the government of Akwa Ibom State.

"What we are expected to do is to point out what will be unhelpful and draw the attention of the authority. As we speak, that problem persists.

"From what we now know, INEC leadership knew they were going to postpone the election and they shared the information with the PDP and advised them not to waste their resources while pretending to us that they are on top of the situation. I think that INEC deserves to make explanation to us, not because we are the governing party, but because we are a major player.

"What INEC is doing in collusion with PDP is to get the opposition party to be shouting that they want INEC chairman removed under fake attack. If you ask me, I would say that as APC chairman, I second Secondus.

"I have no difficulty seconding Secondus in having a new INEC chairman, if that is what it means to have a credible election. But this is fake; it will be a tragedy if, as a governing party, we cannot complain of being rigged out and yet, the early warning signals are there.

"There are reports of elements in INEC working with anti- democratic forces to gradually move us to a situation where elections will become impossible, having regards to the provisions of the law. Those anti-democratic forces calling for interim government will, therefore appear to be winning.

"It is time to assert the authority of state and direct INEC to begin to do what they need to do and if they don't do it, they must be made to understand that that there are huge consequences. Whoever will preside over Nigeria must do so on the basis of one man, one vote. Those who want short cut to power must be identified and flushed out.

"We must now go back and renew the campaign with the additional cost it entails. INEC again took a wrong decision to attempt to amend the law through mere administrative pronouncements that campaigns are frozen. INEC is not in a position to make law and the laws made by our parliaments are superior to the opinion of the INEC chairman.

"The law is clear that when you postpone election, you are entitled to renew campaign up to 24 hours to the day of election. Therefore, as a law abiding party, we will proceed to re-energise our members to continue with the campaign and come out in huge numbers.

"When you have a low voter turnout; that is when election rigging is most easy. Voter turnout and voter apathy can result from the confusion. We need to remind them across the country that elections have been rescheduled and they should have faith and be determined to vote.

"We will resume the campaigns between now and Thursday because Friday is not a campaign day. Not going out to campaign can be good for parties without a support base. So, we want to inform INEC that we are proceeding with campaign and we are ready to meet them in court because they cannot, by administrative fiat, amend or distort the provisions of the Electoral Act and those laws are not secret to INEC.

"INEC, having violated our confidence, must now earn it and sustain it every inch of the way. We have been told they will reconfigure card readers and we are told that they are about 180,000. Has it started and when will it be concluded?

"Since we have about 176,000 polling points, it would mean that we have 4000 extra. Is INEC assuring us that the failure rate of the card reader will be about two  per cent? What is the basis for making allowances for only 4000?

"Should there be failures above 4000, what is INEC contingency plan? We do not want staggered election, but nationwide election on the same day. So, they need to speak to us on the basis of this small addition. I would have thought that every card reader should have a spare. What they have done create room for suspicion.

"From what we now know, in some states, INEC materials have been distributed, some people have cited some of the result sheets and some ballot papers. What is INEC doing differently to ensure that those who have seen those samples will not go and print them.

"Are they telling us that they have taken care of some of the things that happened last Friday? For example, the materials meant for Edo state were delivered to another state, the ones meant for Delta state were delivered to Edo state.

"Mr. President, I believe that because you are the President, you have dual responsibilities. One is to ensure that any institution of state that has misbehaved, anybody that is involved in that act, particularly actions that weaken the fabrics of our democracy, you have a duty to trigger the process that will compel everyone involved in this to account. We cannot be helpless because at the end of the day, all fingers will point at you.

"We should insist that the election must be conducted properly and those RECs that have been compromised, we will impress on the INEC leadership that they don't have the right to impose a corrupt or compromised REC on us.

"When sufficient doubts have been raised on the character of a referee, no responsible match official will impose that referee on the players. We don't care where people are posted to but INEC has the responsibility to move people around."

The governors at the meeting include: Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano), Simon Lalong (Plateau), Godwin Obaseki (Edo), Nasir El-Rufai (Kaduna), Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Umar Jibrilla Bindow (Adamawa), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Akinwunmi Ambode (Lagos), Tanko Al Makura (Nasarawa), Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi), Abubakar Sani Bello (Niger), Kashim Shettima (Borno), Mohammed Abubakar (Bauchi), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti) and Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara).

Also at the meeting were: Vice President Yemi Osinbajo; former Lagos Governor Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; former Senate President Ken Nnamani; Senate Leader Ahmed Lawan; Power, Workers & Housing Ministers Babatunde Fashola; Transportation Minister Rotimi Amaechi and Information, Culture & Tourism Minister Lai Mohammed were also at the meeting.

Also at the meeting were: former Zamafara State Governor Ahmed Sani Yerima; former Akwa Ibom State Governor Godswill Akpabio as well as governorship candidates of the party.

APC CRISIS: Sen. Abe Discloses What Happened To Amaechi When Buhari Choosed Osinbajo As Vice President

Posted: 19 Feb 2019 11:44 AM PST

Senator Magnus Ngei Abe

The lawmaker representing Rivers South East at the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe, has revealed what the immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi did when Prof. Yemi Osinbajo was announced as the Vice Presidential candidate for Muhammadu Buhari in 2015.

According to an earlier report by Daily Post, Senator Abe was reacting to a statement, where Amaechi, currently the Minister of Transportation, described him (Abe) as a betrayer.

In an interview granted to journalists in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, Amaechi had claimed that Abe fell ill when he (Amaechi) picked Dakuku Peterside as the governorship candidate of the state.

But in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen on Tuesday, Abe said it was Amaechi who went into shock and a doctor had to be brought in to treat and placed drip on him all the night to stabilise him when Osinbajo was chosen ahead of him as the Vice President.

Abe said, "My attention has been drawn to an interview granted by the Minister of Transportation, Rt Hon Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi. In the interview widely publicized by the DAILY POST and several online media houses, the minister was said to have among other issues raised therein described me as a "betrayer and an ingrate."

"Nigerians are aware that Mr. Amaechi has been calling me names for the past two years and in keeping with my personal values and upbringing, I have refrained from joining issues with him in the public domain. However, it has become imperative that I set the records straight on the issues raised by the minister so that Nigerians will know the truth.

"Mr. Amaechi said I fell ill when he picked Dakuku over me in 2015. I should answer honestly that I did not fall ill. Indeed, Mr. Amaechi himself will recollect that Rivers youths almost set the Government house on fire, and that I came out to address them and went on air to appeal for calm. He can also remember that I arranged a meeting of Ogoni leaders who met with him in the aftermath of that decision. No doctor attended to me.

"But he will also remember that when Prof. Osinbajo was announced as Vice Presidential candidate of the APC, he went into shock and a doctor had to be brought in to treat him.

"He was placed on drip all night to stabilise him. That was why he assumed that I would have also required medication. We all react differently to shock."

Nigeria heading for constitutional crisis, says Dickson

Posted: 19 Feb 2019 09:17 AM PST

Seriake Dickson
BAYELSA State Governor Seriake Dickson has warned of a looming major constitutional crisis, if the elections failed to hold as rescheduled by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Dickson, who briefed reporters in Government House, Yenagoa, said there was a need for stakeholders to work collectively to avert the crisis.

Dickson suggested that President Muhammadu Buhari should immediately convene an expanded emergency meeting of the National Council of State.

He said the meeting should have the service chiefs, INEC, political party leaders, their candidates and other major stakeholders in attendance.

He said the stakeholders should resolve on the new date for the postponed elections, adding that INEC was wrong to have unilaterally chosen next Saturday for the rescheduled polls.

He cautioned leaders against name-calling, appealing to them to work in the interest of the country to avoid plunging Nigeria into avoidable succession crisis.

He said it was unpatriotic for anyone to be calling for the removal of the INEC chairman, adding that the country would be on a crossroad, if two critical institutions – INEC and the Supreme Court – were undergoing crisis at the same time.

He said: "This postponement belittled our country. It doesn't show us as a serious country. Unless all stakeholders drop the habit of name-calling and claiming to be rights, we are moving close to a major constitutional crisis.

"If anything should go wrong, we will have a full-blown crisis; crisis of succession at a time the Supreme Court is also undergoing crisis. We should not call for the removal of the INEC Chairman. If INEC is in crisis and the Supreme Court is crisis, I don't know where we are headed.

"I call on President Muhammadu Buhari as the leader of the country to convene an emergency meeting of the National Council of states to enable service chiefs and the INEC brief stakeholders on their preparations.

"The meeting should involve the political party chairmen and the presidential candidates to examine the developing scenario, which may plunge our country into crisis. I believe that if we all sit down and know the circumstances, we should agree on a new date.

"I disagree with INEC's unilateral announcement of Saturday as a new date. I do not believe that all the challenges that INEC has can be resolved within six days. A more sensible approach is needed. Our nation cannot afford another postponement."

The governor noted that few hours to the postponed elections, Bayelsa did not have ballot papers for presidential elections and stamps to authenticate votes.

"Even now, I am told there are issues of unserialised ballot papers", he said.

The governor hailed Buhari for calling on security agencies to deal ruthlessly with troublemakers during the election.

He said by such presidential directive, security agencies should no longer be encumbered from doing their jobs without fear or favour.

He particularly appealed to security agencies to ensure the application of the directive in Bayelsa, especially in areas like Ekeremor and Brass, where he said some known political figures had been fomenting troubles.

Dickson called on the electorate to maintain their momentum and not to be discouraged by the postponement.

He also disagreed with INEC on suspension of campaigns, saying that his party would continue to engage the people in accordance with the established law of the land.

Dickson, who insisted that it was unfortunate that INEC postponed the poll despite all the preparations in the state, including declaring a two-day holiday, asked stakeholders to work against further shift.

31 stolen INEC’s card readers recovered from Rivers’ bush

Posted: 19 Feb 2019 09:12 AM PST

Suspects
Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) in Rivers State have recovered 31 Electronic Card Readers (ECRs) believed to have been stolen from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The SRCs were recovered in a bush on Rumuji-Emohua axis of the East-West Road in the Southsouth state. They were allegedly thrown into the bush by thugs who were fleeing to escape arrest.

The thugs were believed to be working for one of the major political parties.

SARS yesterday notified the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Rivers State, Mr. Obo Effanga, seeking for more information and the cooperation of the commission and its officials to ensure detailed investigation.

A top official of the SARS in Rivers, told our reporter in confidence on the telephone that the hoodlums, who drove in a brown Toyota Camry saloon car around 9am on Saturday, were given a hot chase by operatives of the squad, making them to escape, after throwing a bag containing the 31 card readers into the bush.

The SARS chief also revealed that operatives of the police formation continued to search the bush, leading to the later discovery and recovery of the 31 stolen card readers, which was revealed by intelligence as perpetrated by political thugs.

According to the SARS' top official, the recovered card readers were still in police custody.

It was also learnt that the hoodlums' car left Port Harcourt for communities in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers to perfect their rigging plans, unaware of 11th hour postponement of the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Rivers SARS, in a letter to the REC of INEC in the state, with reference number: AR:3000/RVS/SARS/RVS/VOL.8/272, dated February 16 and received/signed yesterday at 8 a.m. by an INEC official, titled: "Investigation Activities. Re: Stolen and recovered INEC Card Readers by ASP Monday Mathias and Team,"was signed by Rivers Commander of SARS, Mr. Akin Fakorede, an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).

The letter reads: "The above-named detective and team are serving members of this formation and are investigating a case of suspected stolen/recovered INEC's card readers.

"You are kindly requested to assist the team in the course of the investigation. Attached herewith are the serial numbers of the INEC's card readers for ease of reference. Accept the best assurances of the Rivers State Commissioner of Police (Usman Belel), please."

When contacted for his reaction through the telephone at 7:45pm yesterday, the REC of INEC in Rivers, said: "I am still expecting the investigating SARS operatives to come to INEC office in Port Harcourt, for further details."

The MTN line of the Director of Information and Communications of Rivers PDP Campaign Council, Emma Okah, who is also the state's Commissioner for Information and Communications, was not available from 7:55pm yesterday.

When contacted at 7:59 p.m. the Rivers PDP's Publicity Secretary, Darlington Orji, said he was not aware of the recovered card readers, "talk less of knowing if they were recovered from PDP members."

Nigeria Decides 2019: Obasanjo, PDP In Alliance To Kill Nigeria – Former Senate President Alleges

Posted: 19 Feb 2019 07:44 AM PST

Senator Ameh Ebute

Senator Ameh Ebute, Nigeria's former Senate President, has raised an alarm over the alleged alliance between ex-President, Olusegun Obasanjo and leadership of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to allegedly destabilize Nigeria.

The former Lawmaker, said the union between Obasanjo and leadership of the PDP was aimed at unsettling and killing Nigeria.

The elder statesman made this claim at a press conference in Abuja on Tuesday.

Ebute, who leads the Congress for Patriotic Citizens (CPC), therefore, called on Nigerians to rise up to what he described as the challenge of confronting and subduing unpatriotic, corrupt and selfish past political office holders like Chief Obasanjo in order to save Nigeria from total collapse, Daily Post reports.

Read full text of his speech below:

We have no hesitation to boldly assert that it is unfortunate to understand, the alliance to kill Nigeria is spearheaded and supervised by no less a personality but Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, an elder statesman, former Military Head of State and democratic President of Nigeria. He is one person who has been so privileged to lead this country twice in his lifetime. Outside Chief Obasanjo, it is the incumbent, President Buhari.

Other leaders of Nigeria since independence are not this privileged or so blessed. So, if today any one of us finds a reason to complain that we are yet to nurture a nation we truly desire and to the maturity our founding fathers dreamt, a leader who should take the double blame is Chief Obasanjo. Why? Because leadership fell on him at Nigeria's most auspicious moments. But we saw nothing he did wonderfully!

To the best of our knowledge, Chief Obasanjo abused every opportunity he had to set Nigeria on a speedy and progressive path. His leadership years are ingloriously recounted by Nigerians with disdain and contempt for his personality. On the reverse, ordinary Nigerians recall fondly and gleefully President Buhari's leadership of Nigeria at every era as attested now.

We find it completely distasteful, Obasanjo's present gang-up and conspiracy against Nigeria. What OBJ and co have planned is beyond imagination. Every word of Obasanjo from his first open letter to the last smacks of a shameful and dishonourable outing from an elder statesman.

We cannot understand Obasanjo anymore. We do not know what he implies when he accuses INEC of "recruiting collation officers who are already awarding results based on their projects to actualise the perpetuation agenda in which the people will not matter and the votes will not count." As former President of Nigeria, isn't this statement too fluid? Even if Chief Obasanjo hates Buhari, hatchet jobs like this one as contained in his recent letter should be left for his 'boys.' Even the loquacious Femi Fani Kayode or Tony Omokri cannot abuse their already battered reputation in public in this disgraceful manner.

Chief Obasanjo, in your days in Nigeria's Aso Rock, you crushed every opposition so brutally and unlawfully even where the Constitution protected your "enemies" with immunity. Now, you delight in assailing President Buhari on every issue, including his refusal to sign the flawed, revised Electoral Reform Bill into law. We know, if you were still the President of Nigeria, you would have organized the impeachment process of the National Assembly leadership by now and even, initiated the recall process of some of them. Buhari is a national leader far beyond your temperament.

Again, Obasanjo thinks by psyching and inciting Nigerians prophetically with predictions of elections violence, it makes little sense to Nigerians. Maybe, he has forgotten his records when he controlled power in Nigeria. But we still remember Obasanjo abused democratic decency or introduced violence into the political firmament of Nigeria and through the same PDP. In good conscience and as a Christian, can Obasanjo deny, he never opened the vaults of CBN at midnights to sponsor such evil missions? Buhari will never do it!

Therefore, talking about President Buhari having a cabal which runs his government for him is childish. Obasanjo, as sitting President, had an inner or kitchen cabinet, what he now embellish as cabal. We don't want to embarrass anybody by publishing names. Every President in the world has this think- tank whom he consults on sensitive national issues. Where is Buhari's fault?

And contrary to his predictions on Buhari's frailty and inability to personally traverse Nigeria to campaign for reelection, he has done it himself displaying his vitality by covering two states in the federation on each day he goes out on campaigns. He didn't abdicate his responsibility to any "Jagaban." And Mr. President has covered all the 36 states in the federation, including the FCT, unlike Obasanjo's preferred candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Frankly, Obasanjo's poisoned mind and naivety of the operations of INEC, coupled with the unholy alliance he has struck with PDP cannot fly.

We urge Nigerians to rise up to the challenge of confronting and subduing unpatriotic, corrupt and selfish past political office holders like Chief Obasanjo in order to save Nigeria from total collapse. We have more faith in the progress of Nigeria under a Buhari Presidency than an Atiku. We have sighted progress and national development under a patriotic leader and nationalist like President Buhari. There is no way Obasanjo can publicly announce his retirement in politics and sneak back through the back door in any unholy alliance with dark forces to destroy Nigeria.

Like Gen. Bulbwa Marwa (rtd) did by rallying nearly 100 retired Military Generals in support of President Buhari, we shall also assemble all elder statesmen across the country to come to the rescue of Nigeria, bearing in mind that selfish individuals like Obasanjo or any political party or group of persons don't own Nigeria. All Nigerian citizens must wake up to uphold the virtues of leaders who can stand for the country like Buhari.

JUST IN: Atiku In Attendance At PDP NEC Meeting In Abuja, Elections, Buhari In Focus

Posted: 19 Feb 2019 06:48 AM PST

Buhari's expense-of-your-life comment is one of the leading agenda at the NEC meeting, Sahara Reporters reports.

Don Jazzy slams Customs’ response to viral video of man’s killing

Don Jazzy slams Customs' response to viral video of man's killing
Music producer, Don Jazzy has condemned the statement by the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, over a trending video which captured one of its personnel shooting a man to death on Sunday.

Report has it that DC Joseph Attah, NCS Public Relations Officer, in a statement on Sunday reacting to the video, stated that while it is painful and totally unnecessary to lose life, the victim caused his death.

He said: "Today at Shagamu interchange along Ijebu Ode, an attempt to obstruct lawful performance of duty by passengers of a commercial bus (a white Toyota Hiace) suspected to be carrying bales of used clothing led to the death of a young man (Godwin) and serious injury of a Customs Officer, ASC1, Destiny Onebamho.

"Contrary to some narratives, the young man was not a passenger of the bus but a good citizen who always come to fetch water for Customs Patrol men anytime they return to the base.

But reacting to the explanation, Don Jazzy blasted Customs over its statement, describing the body as 'corrupt'.

He joined thousands of Nigerians to rubbish the statement from the Nigeria Customs Service after killing an unarmed man

On his Instagram alongside a statement from customs, the Mavin producer wrote: "Corrupt bunch. You all killed that man.

"You shot at unarmed civilians that's all. So sad."

Working Remotely is cool, but it has its own drawbacks. Read on

Posted: 19 Feb 2019 06:30 AM PST

5 things no one has told you about working remotely
Waking up as early as 4 a.m. in Lagos doesn't necessarily mean you'll get to work early. If you have ever been struck in Lagos traffic, there are chances that you'll like the idea of working remotely.

Working remotely gives you the opportunity to wake and work whenever you want without worrying about many issues that are associated with going to work in Lagos. However, this doesn't mean remote work doesn't have its drawbacks.

Here are five things you've probably not heard about working remotely.

1.   Working remotely isn't for everyone

The idea of working from home or anywhere outside of your office sounds cool and it seems everybody likes it, but the truth is, remote work isn't for everybody.

Some people lack the discipline it takes to be focus and productive when they are working away from office. Others can't just work effectively without the buzz of a busy office or the casual banters of their colleagues.

And according to a report by Buffer, distraction is one of the issue associated with working from home and if you can't control that and focus on your work, it definitely means remote work is not for people like you.

2.   It may be difficult to switch off

When you're working in your office, you're most likely conscious of the closing time. That's not always the case for remote workers. For remote workers, the lines between work and home life are blurred, since you're working from your dining room, you might not find it easy to disengage yourself from work.

3.   It's a lonely business

Loneliness is one of the major drawbacks of remote work especially for extroverts. If you are used to the office chats and banters, you might find working from home lonely. However, if you think working alone affects your productivity, you can go to a restaurant or an eatery to get your work done.

4.   You'll sometime feel left out

Working remotely could make you feel left out occasionally when you miss out on important announcements, meetings and events in your office. You'll most likely be the last person to hear in your office to hear about upcoming events and important announcement. However, with software like slack, you can keep update yourself while you work remotely.

5.   Networking is a bit hard for remote workers

Since you're not enjoying daily interaction with your colleagues, you may miss out on important networking opportunities.

Here’s what to do if your man always disappoints you

Let Him Go? Here's what to do with a man who always disappoints you

Everyone goes into relationships with expectations, and the hope is not to end up with someone who will always disappoint and dash those hopes – yes, including the really simple ones.

So far those expectations are healthy and communicated well enough, it won't be too much to ask for your partner to meet them. At least, for him to make the efforts to always do right by you.

However, if you find yourself with a partner who always has a way of putting a dampener on your vibes and somehow finds a way to disappoint you at every turn, here are tips on how to handle the situation.

1. Context and the bigger picture
Be honest in your assessment of the situation; is this a regular occurrence or just a one-off situation?

Also ask yourself; do I also turn up for him. While the eye-for-eye treatment is no way to relate with each other in a relationship, it still does not make sense to cry foul when you are only getting the same kind of treatment you give him.

2. Are there acts of redemption?
Sometimes, these disappointments cannot be avoided on the man's part. So what matters is how he handles the situation. His apologies will not count for much if he keeps making the same mistake, but still, before he gets to that stage where apologies no longer count; if he goes out of his way to make things right, it could be a pointer that he wants things to work.

It could also be your cue to give him a little more time to get things right. There just may be enough left in him to actually turn the situation on its head.

3. You need to retain your healthy expectations
That they are not being met does not mean you have to change your expectations or lower your standards.

Let him take you serious and step up his game.

4. Don't make excuses for him
It is easy to find justifications for his actions, especially when you are trying to avoid confrontations or allegations of being dramatic or doing too much. However, you cannot afford to internalize your worries when you can talk about it and hopefully find a solution.

Allowing him get away with doing next to nothing in return for all the love, affection and effort you put into the relationship is not being fair to yourself.

In fact, according to Jill P. Weber Ph.D. for Psychology Today, "men who are emotionally mature enough and ready for commitment report that they want to be told directly by the women in their lives what they actually want when it comes to love and commitment.

"Working hard at a relationship and not getting much in return is not a healthy choice."

5. Let him know you can walk away for real

You always have the option to leave. Keep in mind that you can leave and this is not really about threatening the other person; it's about not giving away your power in the relationship.

You always have the option to walk away from something (or someone) that's truly beneath you.
