Your weakness should be covered but unfortunately for me, I happened to be out there. The people who are judging at the moment, I don't really blame you guys, it's fine because I put myself in the spot and I take full responsibility for the incident.

Timaya, has put a Big Price Tag of $100 Million on his Beard if he must Shave it off

Posted: 23 Mar 2019 01:52 PM PDT

Timaya
He said this while chatting with Punch News in a report published on Saturday, March 23, 2019. Some years before the interview, he had cleared off his dreadlocks because he felt it was time.

Clearing off his beard will also require an inspiration and it could be money. Keeping it for this long has been deliberate -- it is all part of reinventing himself.

"Maybe $100m would make me shave off my beard. Other than that, I won't shave it off until I feel like it's time. I have been keeping the beard for about five years.

"When I cut the dreadlocks some years back, I felt it was necessary at the time. It represented where my mind was at, at that time. It's also rather important to keep reinventing (yourself), to stay relevant."

Staying fresh is a mentality for Timaya who dropped an EP, "Chulo Vibes" in early February.

He is glad about the reactions that it has received. It is a reward for his effort in trying out new things. Making his fans happy is part of the motivation behind his evolving personality, encouraging in him a desire to learn about what is trending particularly in music.

"It has been amazing so far and I am very happy about the positive feedback I have been getting. Chulo Vibes is my first project in five years.

"I'm happy about the reception and the progress so far. I have remained relevant in this industry for over a decade because it is important to keep reinventing oneself.

"I feel like as an entertainer you should never make your fans get bored with your music, your performances, and so on. You must always give them a way to stay excited about your brand, your music, performances, everything.

"Also, music, just like everything, changes. I'm always listening to new sounds and learning about new shifts and ways to keep my music relevant."

He said his issue with the record label resulted into his losing the first Grammy nomination because he was blacklisted after sacking his French manager and quitting the company.

In the same chat, Femi Kuti has revealed how his late father, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, condemned his first album, 'Femi Kuti,' calling it useless only to later praise him after the release of his second album.

Patience Ozokwor: How i Abandoned the Man i Loved for the One my Mother wants me to Marry

Posted: 23 Mar 2019 10:00 PM PDT

Patience Ozokwor
Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwor, has shared that her mother had a role in her early marriage which happened with a man she chose for her.

This meant she had to abandon her romance with another who was studying at a university when her forced the decision on her.

She said in a report by Punch News on Saturday, March 23, 2019, that she could not resist her mother because during her days as a youth, parents usually decide who their children will marry.

Despite being unable to make a choice about the man she married, Patience Ozokwor, has stayed in her union for many years, almost as if they were betrothed.

"No, I wasn't betrothed to him, but my mother was a kind of woman that always liked to punish any child that misbehaved publicly.

"You know all those Christian mothers that would be in the disciplinary section to punish children. So, she didn't want her child to come out of secondary school and not get married because she was afraid you could bring her to where she had been punishing people.

"So she insisted I must get married. I said okay but I had a suitor. But she said no. I didn't know what to do because I had put all my eggs in one basket; he was in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

"I was waiting to go to school so that I would marry him but my mother wouldn't wait. So I had to obey her. There was a big fight but in our days, you would not be the one to say I will marry this person; it was your parents that would have the final say in your marriage, so I had to give up."

'God does not like divorce'

Despite being imposed upon by her mother, getting a divorce was not a path she wanted to explore because she thought it was ungodly.

She had learned from studying the Bible that it can be a shameful to do. The actresses who separate from their partners can't also be blamed says Ozokwor in the conversation with Punch News.

"I am ashamed because I read the Bible a lot. I know that God does not like divorce, but I have discovered that it is not the problem of the actresses."

She shared with Punch that one of the reasons why there is separation in marriages happen when financial expectations haven't been met. This is mostly experienced by actors and the women who seek them.

"And for the men too, girls fall from hills to marry them because they think they have money and when they get in and don't see the money, it will become a case of – is this marriage? I thought there would be money everywhere.

"But the issue is that when the money comes, it comes in big and if another one does not come immediately, that one will finish before another one comes. But one thing is certain, we are not going to wait for a long time before another one comes because if we don't act, we can attend functions and they will pay us.

"Money will be coming in through various means but people don't have patience; that is why our marriages fail."

How we almost aborted Success, now her video has changed our lives – Parents of Sapele Girl

Posted: 23 Mar 2019 12:45 PM PDT

Parents of Success, the little girl who was sent home over school fees in Delta, have narrated how they almost killed Success whose video now changed their lives.

Punch reported that Success' father, Godwin Adegor, is a commercial motorcyclist, popularly known as okada rider, while her mum sells recharge cards and raw eggs. They also have two other children – Gift and Marvelous – who are in Junior Secondary School.

The parents also recounted how they almost killed Success whose video now changed their lives. The girl's father said his wife once contemplated aborting her when she became pregnant, and even took a poisonous substance to get rid of her.

"I knew she would be a great child. That was why I gave her the name Success. We received many favours on the day she was given birth to. Let me tell you a short story about Success. After our second child, my wife said she didn't want to give birth to another child."When she was pregnant with Success, she decided to drink 'Angle 90' (a poisonous substance). She said she wanted to die. I convinced her that rather than kill yourself, have the baby so that you could sell it for N500,000. But she said she wouldn't sell her baby.

"On the day Success was born, somebody that had owed me N100,000 paid the debt. Money was just coming from different areas. As we were receiving the goodwill, I told my wife that if we had terminated the pregnancy, would these favours have come to us? It was because of the goodwill that has always followed her that made me named name Success.

"She has been receiving blessings from every corner since she was born. There was a day a soldier who stopped the vehicle that was taking them (our children) to see their grandmother at Kwale, gave her the bread he had bought for his family. The soldier said he liked the way my daughter was talking. Anywhere she goes, she always receives favour. She has won a scholarship before. The scholarship was given to her by a governor's aide," he said.

'Music is not for me' Nigerian Popular Singer Waje Laments

Posted: 23 Mar 2019 12:42 PM PDT

A video currently making rounds on social media shows one of Nigeria's finest female singers making the revelation that she intends to hang her boots in the music industry due to the poor reception of her latest body of work.

In a deeply emotional 12 minutes clip that surfaced on popular video streaming platform, YouTube, awarding-winning singer Waje was captured on camera in a vulnerable state as she poured out her mind about her career as a singer

The clip had open with a series of screenshots of social media users baring their mind on the worrisome state of acceptance of Nigerian artistes that have pitched their tents in the corridors of soul music.

Waje
Waje had also come up in the exchange after a user blamed the poor reception of her latest album Red Velvet on misogyny.

Some other users however, watered down the argument and argued that if the singer's album did not do well, it was entirely by her doing, and a lack of proper promotion and publicity by her team.

The following scene in the video shows the singer in a heated phone argument with some members of her team identified as Fatima and Tolani.

In a heartbroken tone, she made it known that she was tired of pumping money into music when it was not yielding as much profits in return.

Waje continued by saying her belief in music was already taunted and she no longer had any faith in what she was doing. She said music was not the only thing she was good at and maybe it is long due for her to explore other opportunities.

Actress Etinosa: ‘How my parents reacted to my unclad video incident & the valuable lesson I learnt’

Posted: 23 Mar 2019 11:35 AM PDT

Controversial actress Etinosa has opened up on how her parents reacted to her naked video, which went viral just last week.

In a recent chat with Sunnewsonline, Etinosa explained that she has moved and has learned her lessons from the rather embarrassing situation.

She said:

"It (the nude video) was (done) under the influence of alcohol. However, the deed has been done. I just had to keep quiet and move on. I can't explain to everybody what really happened, after all, not everybody is intelligent enough to assimilate and understand certain things. I just had to keep calm and keep my head up high.

"I also don't think it might affect my chances of getting married someday (laughs). Africa is so freaked about marriage. My dear, if marriage is in one's destiny it will come."

On the lessons she learned from the scandal, Etinosa said:

"If you must drink alcohol, at least do have a friend you trust, who would be with you and seize your phone if things start getting out of hand. She also monitors you, so you don't do anything stupid. Also, please know your gauge when drinking. Don't presume you are fine and conscious of your environment. Simply put, drink responsibly."

On her parents' reactions on the messy Instagram video, Etinosa said her parents are aware of it and are very supportive of her during the trying times.

Nigerian man humiliated after staging a surprise marriage proposal to his lady during her birthday party

Nigerian man humiliated after staging a surprise marriage proposal to his lady during her birthday party
A Nigerian man based abroad was humiliated and left stranded after staging a surprise marriage proposal to a beautiful lady during her birthday party.

The man knelt down and brought out the ring for the proposal at the Nigerian lady's birthday which happened recently in Europe (believed to be Italy), only for the lady to shake her head and turn him down.

The humiliated man still knelt down with the ring after being rejected as friends who gathered for the birthday/surprise marriage proposal urged the lady to take the ring and accept him but she still refused.

Internet users have reacted to the incident which was captured on camera, with some blasting the lady for rejecting the guy while others have criticized the guy for proposing to the beautiful lady when he "looks unsure of himself".

Nigerian Man calls off his wedding plans after he discovered his fiancee had been sleeping with a Roman Catholic Priest

Nigerian Man calls off his wedding plans after he discovered his fiancee had been sleeping with a Roman Catholic Priest
A man has reportedly called off his wedding plans after he discovered that his fiancee has allegedly been sleeping with a Roman Catholic Priest behind his back.

The man identified as McDonald Majaya (32) from Bulawayo in Zimbabwe told The Chronicle that he only got to know of the affair after he stumbled across WhatsApp chats between Father Itai Mangenda, and his sweetheart, Rutendo Mudzingwa (24).

Father Mudzingwa who took a vow of celibacy and pledged not to have sex is alleged to have been sleeping with Majaya's girlfriend since February last year.

I discovered that the two were in a relationship since last year and we have been having misunderstandings with my girlfriend over the issue. This is unacceptable, how can a priest who vowed not to marry interfere with my relationship? Said Majaya.

I don't know what to do because right now, I'm really hurt. This is disturbing especially considering that l was putting my all into the relationship and was thinking of paying something (bride price) in April.

Mujaya also alleged that the priest's brother who is also a priest based in Bulawayo attempted to bribe him not to expose the affair.

His brother first offered me US$300 and l rejected it. He even increased the offer to $500 but l could not trade my life for that. This is my life for goodness' sake.

When reached for comment, Father Mujaya denied the allegations saying,

I know her as a believer and l once went to their home to visit her sick grandmother…The problem is with the girl. If people are over-excited they start thinking that they are in love but that's not the case. I am her priest and she is a believer.

Please do not write such stories. Imagine they will be read everywhere and that will tarnish my image. This is a planned lie meant to tarnish my image.

Viewers troll Miracle’s page, for telling Nina that Tobi & Alex had S£x in a hotel room

Viewers troll Miracle's page, for telling Nina that Tobi & Alex had S£x in a hotel room
Last night on the BBNaija reloaded show, Cee-C revealed that Nina told her that her love interest in the house, Miracle, told her that Tobi and Alex had sex shortly after they came out of the Big Brother house.

On last night's reunion episode of the last BBNaija reality show, things got a bit messy.

It all started after ex-housemate, Alex revealed that after the show ended, Cee-C came to her hotel room, where she was with Tobi to thrash things out with him after they were at loggerheads during the show. She said Tobi refused to speak to her and closed the door on her.

According to her, Tobi stayed in her room because the lock in his room was bad and Miracle's room wasn't available.

When it was Cee-C's turn to speak, she broke a mighty table and alleged that Alex had sex with Tobi in her hotel room.

According to her, she said the first thing Nina told her on the plane on their way to Nigeria was that Alex and Tobi had sex in the hotel room.

Nina also got into the conversation, by also disclosing that it was Miracle who told her that Tobi revealed to him that he had sex with Alex in her hotel room.

The revelation made by Cee-C saw Alex break down in uncontrollable tears and then walked out from the reunion show. At one point, she even threatened to break the camera when she was being followed.

A very upset and teary Alex denied the claims and stormed out of the show and when the Big Brother camera crew went after her, she threatened to smash the camera.

According to Cee-C, it was Tobi who told Miracle who then told Nina, who then told her. Alex broke down in tears after this was revealed during the show.

Nigerians are however angry that Miracle could break the brocode and divulge such an information that Tobi might have told him in confidence. They stormed his page and have called him all kinds of names from Gossiper to Snitch.

It felt like a dream come true, and since then, I've been acting both on stage and screen".

Obaseki, elected legislators brainstorm on spread of developmental projects

Posted: 23 Mar 2019 09:12 AM PDT

Edo State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki, and the newly elected legislators on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have agreed to deepen synergy between both arms of government to ensure projects are not duplicated across the state.

The consensus was reached during a reception for members and supporters of the APC, after the thanksgiving service organised by the state government, to celebrate the success of the general elections in the state.

Addressing members and supporters of the party at Government House, Obaseki stressed that his administration will no longer accept boreholes and toilets as constituency projects from members of the national and state assemblies.

"I will not accept boreholes and VIP toilets as constituency projects any more. Edo people have spoken that they want real change and we must deliver the change to them.

"For the elected members of the House of Assembly, every constituency you represent must have something meaningful in the budget on a yearly basis.

"I will not accept N40 million constituency projects, if you are not able to appropriate between N500 million to N1 billion, then you are not working for your constituency," the governor said.

He added that duplication of projects would not be allowed, to ensure for the efficient use of the state's resources.

Obaseki further said that he would be holding interactive sessions with the party members in the national assembly on a monthly basis to review their projects, noting that the elected APC legislators have no reasons not to deliver good governance to Edo people who gave them the mandate to serve.

Responding, Hon. Peter Akpatason, the House of Representatives member-elect for Akoko Edo Federal Constituency, thanked the governor for the massive support he gave all candidates of the APC during the elections, adding that Obaseki spurred them to victory.

Akpatason promised to attract the support of the federal government to the state and said that a better synergy between the state house of assembly, national assembly, state and local governments on project execution will ensure the judicious use of the state's resources.

Speaking on behalf of the newly elected state House of Assembly members, Hon. Washington Osifo, said they would ensure the executive succeeds in its endeavour.

"I want to assure you that you will enjoy our support and you will be happy at the end of the day that you have all the 24 seats in the state assembly.

"We will ensure that as you are working for the good of Edo people, we will give you all our support," he said.

According to the Governor, "Let me start by thanking you all for coming to welcome me. One of the objectives is, as explained by my wife, I am still alive, or I have resurrected, I don't know which one.

"My wife went on to say that, as my wife for 34 years, although, we have known each other for 43 years, she can confirm that this is really me, it is not a clone. Although, that will not stop the rumour in the social media, but that is that.

"So, I want to thank you all for coming here. But, I want to confirm that, no accident took place, no one was in coma, no driver died. I have already put that out in social media, but I want to repeat it for the sake of clarity.

"The second reason I am grateful for your presence is to thank people of Kaduna State for their votes. For their votes in support of President Muhammadu Buhari and coming out in even larger numbers to vote for me and members of the state house of assembly.

"I am happy to say that, we already have two third majority in the state house of assembly. And I have already appealed to members of the assembly to keep the leadership that has served the state so diligently in the last for years to continue. This is my appeal.

"Kaduna State has consistently voted for President Muhammadu Buhari since he first contested in 2003. He has never lost Kaduna State, so it is not a shock that he won this time. Anyone that says he has defeated President Buhari in Kaduna is either dreaming or needs psychiatric assistance," he said.

The Governor also reiterated his appeal to the people of the state to live peacefully among themselves, saying that, his government saddened by the security challenges in Birnin Gwari, Kajuru, parts of Chikun and lately Sanga local government area, has appealed to the President for security reinforcement in the affected areas.

He also appealed to all the people of Kaduna state to join hands with his government to move the state forward, promising that, the government will be fair to all and work for all, irrespective of their political and other affiliations.

Governor El-Rufai also promised to continue with his government's reforms, especially in education and correct its mistakes where it had gone wrong.

All top government functionaries, including the Deputy Governor-elect, Dr. Hadiza Balarabe, Speaker of the state assembly, Hon. Aminu Abdullahi Shagali, SSG, Balarabe Abbas Lawal and wife of the Governor, Architect Hadiza El-Rufai were in attendance at the reception.

Why I want to be Senate President, by Lawan

Posted: 23 Mar 2019 08:37 AM PDT

Ahmad Lawan
A front line contender for the Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan, on Saturday gave reasons why he is most suited to occupy the exalted position.

Lawan told journalists in Abuja that the Senate under his watch will work in partnership with the executive arm of government to make the country better through legislative engineering.

The Yobe North Senator, who spoke in company with some of his colleagues, believed that the All Progressive Congress (APC) by its clear majority in the Senate was positioned to produce the Senate President.

Lawan, who is also the Senate Leader, noted that the briefing was essentially to declare that he has something unique to offer as the Senate President of the ninth Session.

He said that there is need to emphasise the necessity to make the Senate more productive and more focused in its legislative business.

He said, "This interaction is important. After the elections, the APC emerged as the party with the majority. We thank God. APC will be in the majority from 2019-2023.

"In fact, we have made more progress than we did in 2015. We have about 65-66 senators-elect. Just like in 2015 when we sought to lead the Senate, we have come to the conclusion that we have something to offer by leading the Senate and the entire National Assembly.

"We are not under any illusions. We know that this requires a lot in terms of momentum and work we have to do to make Nigeria better through legislative interventions. Also by working with other arms of the government.
"You have known us for a long time. You know our strengths and weaknesses. We need to project what we want to offer.

"We need to tell Nigerians what we can do. We need everyone in this journey of four years we will embark on soon.

"I am asking for cooperation, support and understanding of everyone. We want to work for everyone to ensure that Nigeria is better and ensure that we receive the fairest deal from government.

"By the grace of God, we make serious positive changes. Nigerians voted for change. They have renewed their commitment to APC this year. It means that Nigerians have faith in us. I thank Nigerians for keeping faith with us in this dispensation.

"What we are doing is to reach out to our colleagues, either elected or outgoing. We are talking to them about our mission and why we are campaigning to lead the National Assembly.
"We are telling them why we need to make the Senate more productive and more focused. APC senators are so critical.

"We are reaching out to senators from other political parties. We are going to be talking about it much later.

"Let me say that we are senators who believe in party supremacy. We believe in the leadership of our party. The leadership we are seeking is that of the Senate and the National Assembly."
On how to avoid the June 9th, 2015 experience when Bukola Saraki emerged Senate president against the position of the APC that had majority in the Senate he said: "APC must have learnt it's lessons. The leadership of the party will do something differently.

"I am sure that our leaders will manage the huge success of APC. The party will find us very compliant and supportive."

Asked what in specific terms, Nigerians should expect from him if he emerges the Senate President, he said:

"This is the most basic issue. Let me say that I believe in what my party does. The current President campaigned on security, anti-corruption and the economy.

"We have remained consistent as a party and an administration. Our main task will be to support the President and the party to implement the campaign promises.
"We want an economy that will ensure an all inclusive growth. Our main constituency as a progressive party is the ordinary people.

"It doesn't means that the elite are not with them. But those who worked for our success are those ordinary people. It is crucial for our administration to come up with programmes that will make life better for us.

"We will also support those in the private sector so they can create jobs. We have worked hard as a government in the last four years. We want to work harder going forward so that our youths can get jobs that will grow the economy.

"We have social investment programmes. We will have some reforms in that sector so it can deliver well. Agriculture is one area we have worked on.

"Today, Nigeria doesn't import rice anymore. What that means is that, the billions of dollars spent on importation are now within this country. In every part of the country, we produce so much rice. That is wealth creation. Even though we have challenges in that area, we have done well.
"We have areas of concerns in the security sector. We need to support the Executive to always ensure that we improve on it.

"When we came to government in 2015, so many parts of the country were under the control of Boko Haram insurgents. We want to see a situation where the security architecture of the country can be reformed.
"I headed the security architecture ad-hoc committee in the Senate. We submitted our report. The report recommended reforms in our armed forces.

"It is not about giving money. We must have a structure that will utilise monies released prudently. Where the Executive feels they need intervention, we will legislate.
"It is our mission to ensure that this administration continues to fight against corruption. Most of the things we are suffering in this country, it is because people have stolen public funds.

"When you are able to curtail the excesses in that regard, we will move forward. We should be proactive. We will legislate to ensure that it will be difficult for people to steal in the public and private sectors.
"As a country, why can't we have an anti-corruption court? We need to fast track legal processes and ensure that those found guilty of any corruption charges are jailed instead of waiting for up to 10 years.

"This gives the people the confidence to steal since they know that our anti-corruption laws are weak.
"These are areas we will focus on. We will focus on our education. We will review it to conform with the current day reality.

"We will ensure that our graduates get a good deal. We will look at law reforms. Those that require total overhaul will get that.

"We have to have a bipartisan chamber. We will disagree from time to time because of some issues. But because we are senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, we will remain united. I was in the opposition for 16 before we became part of the party in government. Even as an opposition, we knew when to oppose and support the government.

"Take for instance security. Is there any senator who will oppose the improvement on security? We will work to achieve the desired unity. There will be equity and fairness in the chamber. Once we unit around national interest, we will contribute meaningfully to governance.

"We will do something to support the Executive. By the way, who said we will never disagree with the Executive? By design, we are meant to disagree. But when we disagree, we should sit down and look at issues. Every issue must be based on national interest."

JUST IN: NSCDC Officer In Abuja Killed By Policeman In The Presence Of His Wife, Children(Video)

Posted: 23 Mar 2019 08:40 AM PDT

Great tragedy happened in the early hours of Wednesday in Nyanya, Abuja, when a policeman allegedly mercilessly beat up and killed one Ogar Jombo, a two-star officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for committing traffic offences.

According to Sahara Reporters, the incident happened near a branch of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) around Nyanya market, when the demised was driving his two children and wife. It was gathered that he was driving his children to school and he made a U-turn at the wrong spot, but was flagged down by the police officers on duty at the spot.

Findings revealed that Ogar pleaded that he was rushing to drop the children in school. Ogar was said to be in uniform and also identified himself as an officer.

However, according to the report, all entreaties made by the deceased fell on deaf ears, as one of the police officers jumped on the bonnet of the vehicle, while the other one descended on him with a baton. At this point, his wife and children intervened and pleaded on his behalf. He was, however, allegedly beaten to a stupor and died in the process.
