Bobrisky bodly trolls his former friend turned enemy Toyin Lawani & drags her kids into it Posted: 06 Mar 2019 11:30 PM PST
It all started when a man identified as Jp Blush dragged Bobrisky to the pits and stated that no one likes the Snapchat king. He also alleged that Bobrisky got rusticated from school because he was busy doing nasty things with boys for meagre sums. The model, Johntel Peters aka Official Black Barbie, said Bobrisky was thrown out of Toyin Lawani's company with security guards. He also said that Bobrisky's horrible body odour was affecting Toyin's clothes. He added that Toyin Lawani was trying to help Bobrisky's life and was even feeding him. He also accused the crossdresser of being a liar In reaction, Bobrisky called out. not only the young man, but also his boss. Sharing a photo of the young man, Bobrisky wrote: See how ugly he look here. Tell your mother toyin lawanni to come for me. You are freaking too small for trust me. Since your mother want another episode of dis fight am ready for dis. Do I have to blame dis dirty looking rat? Since toyin now wear you wigs and gowns y won't you open your dirty mouth to tell me she made me. Iyabo Ojo recounts how she had to breastfeed her nephew & daughter simultaneously Posted: 06 Mar 2019 11:00 PM PST
She wrote: "This handsome dude is my nephew, my brother's son…. but I call him my son because we share a mother & son relationship. I try not to steal the spot from his biological mum but today I just have to let you all know that I don't have two kids but many. My heart is filled with so much emotions, memories & above all gratitude to God. His mum had him 17 and a half years ago, at first he wouldn't latch, when he did the mum's breast refused to produce milk. We bought different types of milk but he kept throwing up. It became obvious that he's lost significant weight in two weeks. At this point, I decided to take charge, told the mum my intention and seek consent. He was brought to my house and I started breastfeeding him. (Priscy was six months old and still breastfeeding). Of course aunty Priscilla @its.priscy couldn't understand why mum was sharing her booby , she would hit, pinch and cry her eyes out each time I breastfed Mathew. A lot happened after and Mathew continued to stay with me. It's not been easy solely raising them all but today seeing Matthew and attending his matriculation, I feel blessed and happy that I got the parenting skills right. Yes, I have failed in different ways but God has been so faithful to me and my household. The tears wouldn't stop…. oh no, they are that of joy and fulfilment. @matto_xo I have witnessed today, may I witness your graduation and many more, please face your studies & never forget to always put God 1st, I love you & the rest of you….. congratulations son……. Recall that there have been unconfirmed rumours about the paternity of Xavier, her four-month-old son with husband, Olakunle Abounce Fawole. In an exclusive interview with Pulse, Yvonne Jegede said Abounce can't deny the fact that Xavier is 100% his son. "I don't call him. I only reached out to him when I feel the need to because he knows Xavier is his son, he is 100% sure he's his son," Jegede said reacting to the rumour about the paternity of her son. Continuing, the 'Being Annabel' actress said, "He's been to the house twice after we got back to the country, he's come to see his son twice and he has pictures with his son on his phone which I took so why he's not posting them, maybe his personal reasons, maybe he's not like me who is showing my joy to the world, I don't know but is that enough to give me a name? Transgender man who gave birth to a baby opens up on his pregnancy journey Posted: 06 Mar 2019 09:30 PM PST A transgender man who gave birth to a boy has revealed vile abuse he received during pregnancy, with strangers mocking him as an "it". Wyley Simpson, 28, said: "I had to deal with a lot of stigma behind me being a pregnant man." After finding out he was pregnant on February 8 2018, Simpson was left shocked and nervous at the news. Not only had he started his transition to become a man years ago, but he did not feel ready to have a baby with his fiancé, Stephan Gaeth, 28. But, undeterred, Simpson decided to go through his unplanned pregnancy – despite the emotional turmoil of battling abuse and judgment from strangers on a daily basis. And on September 5, Simpson gave birth to their 7lb 5oz son, Rowan, via emergency C-section, as his son's umbilical cord was wrapped several times. With the San Antonio, Texas, couple celebrating their son turning six-months-old, they have spoken out about the pregnancy, and parenthood. Simpson, who went through the transitioning process from the age of 21, said: "It's not every day that someone sees a pregnant man walking down the road. "So we received a fair amount of abuse – I would be told that I'll never be a man, 'men don't carry babies' and everyone called me 'it'. "I was already worried as this was my first pregnancy, but I was also nervous because I had to deal with a lot of stigma behind me being a pregnant man. "But alongside receiving rude comments from other people, the pregnancy took a lot for me emotionally." He added that, "having a physical baby bump was something so feminine that messed with my head. "But it was all worth it to have Rowan and to become a father – I wouldn't have changed a thing." Despite being grateful that he could carry his own child, Simpson said that he was only able to feel comfortable about becoming a father once Rowan was born, particularly after having to battle constant criticism from strangers in the street. Bovi explains his experience after Jim Ovia ‘Dashed’ him N5million on stage Posted: 06 Mar 2019 09:00 PM PST
The popular comedian who told the story on Instagram said he was gifted the sum of N5 million by Zenith Bank manager, Jim Ovia while he was performing on state in 2018 and the gesture blew him away. He explained that the hall he was performing also in erupted because the audience could not believe what had just happened. However, when he had finished performing and was going home, something happened that stunned him. Bovi revealed that many people who saw Ovia gift him the money rushed to ask for a share of it. Below is how he wrote the story: "Last year at an event, Jim Ovia gifted me 5 million naira for being a good mc. The hall erupted in applause. I was pleasantly shocked. "However getting out of that hall was like Lagos traffic in rush hour. Everybody wanted a piece of my cake. Like wtf?!?! It's me he dashed. Not us! And some were like "didn't you see me shouting and jumping when he said it?". "So because they jumped and shouted I had to part with something. Anyway I shared the money even with those who have like me. "So last Friday at the same event, one year later, uncle Jim comes on stage again to make a speech and this is the moment he was commending me again and that's me smiling but praying that he doesn't announce it again. Because on arrival I already had people telling me "you know chairman likes you. Anything he dashes you today na me and you o"! "Every Nigerian has become an agent who wants commission. African Development bank equips Nigerians with coding and digital skills Posted: 06 Mar 2019 09:27 AM PST
In February 2018, the Coding for Employment programme was launched in partnership with technology firms Facebook, Microsoft and the Rockfeller Foundation. The bank had plans to launch 130 Centres of Excellence across Africa, as part of its Coding for Employment initiative. The programme anticipates that 75 percent of the trainees will be linked with employment opportunities, while 25 percent will become entrepreneurs. The Bank had identified leading academic institutions, the designated "Centres of Excellence", in Nigeria, Kenya, Rwanda, Senegal and Cote D'Ivoire, to run the pilot phase of the digital skills training programme by November 2018. Four institutions, Ahmadu Bello University, Covenant University, Gombe State University and University of Nigeria, Nsukka, were selected in Nigeria. In December 2018, computer science departments in Covenant University and Gombe State University (GSU) flagged off "Hour of Code" sessions under the Coding for Employment programme in their respective campuses. 62 participants, comprising students and young people from neighbouring communities, attended the one-day classes at Covenant University. GSU recorded 545 participants over the course of three days. All the participants, who were carefully screened and had little or no knowledge of technology, received certificates of participation. 95% of them expressed strong interest in the next level of digital skills, a course scheduled to commence in early 2019. "The turnout was massive, and the enthusiasm was palpable," said Yemi Orimolade, one of the facilitators and senior communication manager at Microsoft Philanthropies, the corporate philanthropy subsidiary of the technology firm. For Dr Bala Modi, Acting Director of ICT at GSU, the impressive turnout and interest of young people from Gombe and neighbouring towns was particularly pleasing. It was an indicator that the youth of Gombe and surrounding Borno, Yobe, Taraba, Adamawa and Bauchi states were keen on moving on with their lives, away from the spate of terrorist attacks experienced in north-eastern Nigeria in recent months. "It's been an amazing start for the Coding for Employment programme in Nigeria," said Uyoyo Edosio, ICT and youth development expert at the African Development Bank. "Across the country, we are observing pent-up demand for basic computing capabilities and digital skills. Africa's youth will drive the digital transformation of African economies in the emerging fourth and fifth Industrial era." Promoting stability and peace in Africa's once fragile and conflict-prone zones will pave the way for initiatives such as Coding for Employment to flourish, complementing formal and informal education and training programmes targeted at the youth population. With the continent's youth population projected to reach 830 million by 2050, knowledge of advanced technologies, such as cloud computing, data analytics, mobile, security, social networking and artificial intelligence (AI), will become crucial. Working with academia, private and public sector institutions, the Bank's technology development programmes and investments support numerous national development plans and align with its High 5 priorities, especially Integrate Africa, Industrialize Africa and Improve the Quality of Life for the People of Africa. The Coding for Employment programme is a key pillar of the Bank's Jobs for Youth in Africa (JfYA) strategy (2016 – 2025), which seeks to create 25 million jobs across the continent, developing and launching Africa's next generation of digitally enabled youthful workforce. No plans by Buhari to Islamize Nigeria, says Osinbajo Posted: 06 Mar 2019 08:15 AM PST
The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has debunked rumours making rounds that President Muhammadu Buhari was making plans to Islamize Nigeria. Osinbajo speaking in a town hall meeting held at Hotel Du Golf off PZ junction, Aba North Local Government Area of Abia State on Tuesday with the Aba business community and supporters of the party said that Nigeria is a country that is too big for an individual to impose a religion against their wish. He also debunked rumours being peddled in the state by the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and supporters of other political parties that the APC leadership under Comrade Adams Oshiomhole reserved some state for the PDP. The vice President while responding to questions from members of the audience disclosed that contrary to insinuations that Abia is reserved for the PDP stated that the Buhari administration was paying attention to the state because of the importance the government attached to the growth and development of the SMEs which Aba is the hub. While thanking the people of Abia State for coming out in their numbers to vote for President Buhari and giving the party 25percent votes in the just concluded Presidential election, urged them to troop out on Saturday, March 9th to sack the PDP government whom he said has left the state underdeveloped for 16 years. Most of the questions thrown at the Vice President demanded that he clears the air on the rumours that: his constant visit to Abia means alliance has been formed with the PDP, that his absence in the APC Abia rally connotes support for PDP as alleged. "Abia made a historic contribution in our election as we got 25 percent votes. We know it was not all our votes that were counted. Come March 9th we shall prove that Abia is an APC. "Abia deserves to benefit from the centre. There's no reason for Abia to play opposition politics. By the grace of God, Abia shall join the centre come Saturday. "That I didn't not attend the Abia APC rally in Aba has nothing to do with any agreement. It is because I cannot be with the president at a certain location at the same time for security reasons. I can only attend if it was in the South West because I'm from there. "On my frequent coming to Abia, I've been coming here because of the importance and centrality of the state not for any political reason of giving Abia out to another party." Speaking further he said: "One of the reasons why our members have not benefited from most of our programmes is because the Government is not APC. Come Saturday by the grace of God, we shall change the present day government and enthrone APC through Uche Sampson Ogah. "The PDP want to use the media to claim that APC does not favour Christians. The president is a Muslim, I'm a Christian. A born again Christian for that matter. Nobody can Islamize Nigeria because there is absolutely nothing like that. "Buhari has no intention of Islamizing Nigeria. He is a man who doesn't interfere in anybody's religion. He doesn't force anybody to follow his. Such talks are lies and are mere political propaganda. The biggest church auditorium in the world, with 100,000 capacity is in Abuja. The VP went further to lambast some men of God who play politics from the pulpit saying it is wrong. He went further to add that the talk about Buhari's hatred for Ndigbo is political and untrue. "People now play politics from the pulpit. Any pastor who is using the pulpit to preach for a political party is not doing the right thing. "Any bishop can support a political party privately, but not on the pulpit. We started the home grown school feeding programme from Anambra State. "The two times Buhari ran for president, he picked all Igbo men. He has always demonstrated his love for Ndigbo. Four states in the South East have four senior ministers. That's a sign that he does not play politics. Several groups who gave vote of thanks to the VP during the Town Hall Meeting includes: participants of the MSME clinic, SMEs Associations, N-Power beneficiaries, food vendors for the Free School Feeding and former Biafran soldiers. They showered thanks to the Vice President for the opportunities given to all of them to make ends meet and begged him to ensure that the programmes continue. Also speaking, Dr. Uche Sampson Ogah, APC governorship candidate said, "We receive our father with great joy. He gave us an appointment last time, but because of other activities he couldn't make it, but today he is here. "We say congratulations to you after a credible fair election. Despite the activities of the opposition, you showed strength because of the love Nigerians have for you and President Buhari." Taraba APGA endorses Ishaku for re-election Posted: 06 Mar 2019 07:44 AM PST
The flag bearer of APGA in the State, Alh. Adamu Bako Dan Ibrahim, also stepped down for the governor, at a public event held at the Jolly Nyame stadium in Jalingo. "My decision to step down followed series of consultations which proved to me that Governor Ishaku is the right candidate for this job and he deserves a second term. "I have decided to support his reelection so that he can continue with the great works he started. And Taraba must be entrusted into safe hands," Ibrahim said. The State Chairman of APGA also assured Ishaku of unalloyed support by his party supporters during the election, adding he had consulted them and they agreed to vote for the governor. Ishaku said he was overwhelmed with joy over the support. He noted that the election was all about Taraba, so he will not disappoint them after victory. "We must all come together and build a peaceful Taraba. And I assure you we shall run an all-inclusive government. "I am optimistic that come Saturday, March 9, you will all join me in a Dance of Victory, because victory is certain, and together, with God no one can stop us," Ishaku said. Cross River APC crisis: Stakeholders seek Buhari, Tinubu intervention Posted: 06 Mar 2019 07:34 AM PST Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Cross Rivers State, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Leader of the party to step into the crisis rocking the APC in the state and stop it from snowballing into something else. The party leaders also asked the National Working Committee to immediately cancel what it called an illegal Congress conducted by the former Deputy National Chairman, South, Engr. Segun Oni which they said disenfranchised over 90 percent of delegates. A letter signed by the Chairman, Ikom Local Government and Area Council Caucus, Barrister Odey Oyama said the Congress fell short of the laws of the party and should be cancelled. Oyama said leaders of the party must wade into the crisis with a view to ushering in lasting peace, adding that the disenfranchisement of 980 delegates aggravated the party crisis in the state and therefore required urgent attention. Oyama stated, "By copy of this letter to the BOT chairman, the Chairman, Ikom Local Government and Area Council Caucus, Barrister Odey said the Congress fell short of the law and should be cancelled. By copy of this letter, we are notifying President Muhammadu Buhari, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as well as His Excellency (Senator) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu (the Party Leader) of the crisis in Cross River State Chapter of APC and to emphasise that it requires urgent attention in order to prevent a multiplicity of actions." Oyama, said only 94 delegates including a woman "were rather deliberately handpicked to participate in the state Congress", adding that the disenfranchisement of 980 legitimate delegates (i.e. about 91℅ of the total number of legitimate delegates that ought to have participated at the Congress is perverse. "Therefore, in order to avoid the perpetuation of such gross impunity in APC, the BOT and/or the NWC has an inherent jurisdiction to set aside the congress that has been done in abuse of the APC Constitution. "Hence it is our prayer that the BOT and/or the NWC should evoke its prerogative and inherent jurisdiction to discountenance the state congress of Saturday, February 24, 2018 that held in Calabar. "She Engr. Segun Oni's Congress Committee lacked jurisdiction in excluding 91 per cent of constitutionally recognised delegates from participating in the state Congress. The prescribed procedures for conducting such a congress were not properly complied with and the event did not occur in consideration of the universal domain stipulated in the APC Constitution. "An assembly of co-conspirators who wanted to appoint a handpicked person as state Chairman of the party in total disrespect of the Constitution of APC and the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This is a situation that has the potential of creating a very serious crisis in Cross River state chapter of APC, the letter said. In another letter, Oyama is seeking proper construction, interpretation and administration of the APC Constitution, adding that the state Congress which held in Calabar on February 24, 2018 was in breach of the party's Constitution as "it did not give at least 14 days notice to eligible members to attend." He said the decision to hold the congress was taken at the National Secretariat Abuja on February 19, 2018, he stated that the congress held on February 24 indicating that only a 4-day notice was given to the members against the letters of the party Constitution. He said the party also flouted the statutory notice it was supposed to give to the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Group decries fifth columnists in Delta APC Posted: 06 Mar 2019 07:11 AM PST
The group, in a statement by its coordinator, Onye Imaru, observed the continued suspicion between the two major tendencies and what it described as the frustration of the Minister of State, Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, in bringing them together. The reaction of the group was in the wake of the townhall meeting at PTI Conference Centre, Effurun, Delta State on Monday where unity and strategies to win the election were deliberated on. The group raised observations that the governorship candidate of the party, Chief Great Ogboru, had for one reason or the other not been able to bring everybody on board in his campaign. He said: "From what can be seen it is evident that issues flowing from the governorship primaries of the party last year are still a yoke on the party and its aspirations to win the governorship election. "The absence of the major aspirants especially from Delta North in the campaign of the governorship candidate is a serious issue. It is either they have not been convinced or they still have issues to settle with our candidate and hence their seeming indifference towards the governorship election. "Every effort must be made to address the issue and we dare say that it is not too late for the issues to be resolved. Imaru added: "Our only concern is that the only person who has shown serious efforts towards settling the groups, that is, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu has continued to be the subject of negative propaganda by what we now believe are fifth columnists in the party. This was obviously seen with the unbridled attack on the minister by the unidentified speaker at the Warri parley with Prof. Osinbajo who accused the minister of anti-party activities and that was despite commendations of Kachikwu's efforts by the state chapter of the party and the Presidential Campaign Council. "Such assertions lead to the belief that there are fifth columnists working within the party who do not want the issues in the party to be resolved and perhaps for the purpose of sustaining the status quo in the state. "We appeal to all party members to come together for the purpose of addressing the issues that divide the party in Delta State for the purpose of projecting the interests of the party in the state." ‘Amosun can’t stop Abiodun from succeeding him’ Posted: 06 Mar 2019 07:03 AM PST
Is the division in Ogun State APC ahead of the governorship election not worrisome to you as a party leader? Not so whatsoever. I am lucky and grateful that we have the kind of national chairman who has the courage, determination; and he is incorruptible; that has been steering the ship of the APC. The progressives that brought in Amosun in 2011 is back as one family. he that has joined us is the one that is out. The APC is a happy family. That is why despite the resources available to him, we won the three senatorial seats and seven House of Representatives seats of nine. Are you saying that the results of the presidential and National Assembly elections will predict the outcome of the Saturday governorship and House of Assembly elections in Ogun State? The Saturday election results will even be bigger because the liability of the incumbent chief executive that robbed on us during the election is off. So, the boundary is clear. He is no more APC. He is APM. Going to the field will now really test the true family of the APC and those who came to join us; who created confusion; imaginable magnitude, not only in Ogun State, but in the whole of Southwest; unheard of in the history of progressives in Nigeria. He is out with his team. On Saturday, the verdict will be clear. By the grace of God, we will coast home to victory. Why did you campaign for Governor Ibikunle Amosun, who is fighting your party, during the senatorial election? My orientation and training under Awolowo, who I was very close to, is to support the party. I always tell the whole world that, of all the living progressives in this country, the only two people who can claim closer relationship to Awolowo that me are Alhaji Lateef Jakande and Chief Ayo Adebanjo and the two of them know that I was as close to Awolowo as they were, except that they were with him longer than me until Awolowo died. That training is that the party is always supreme. Under no circumstance must one deviate from the party. My advice to party members on the election day was that they must go all the way APC. They must toe the line of the party, in spite of the grievances, the annoyance against the person of Amosun. At that time, he remained in the APC, although he has started the anti-party activities. But, as he was still on the ballot of APC, we voted for APC. We were not voting for Amosun. We voted for the APC. And I have no regret. Talking about the suspension of the governor, why did it take the party so long to wield the big stick before the election? Then, you are not tactical. We were going into the presidential election where every vote should count. My vote is equal to the vote of the mentally derailed person on the street. I am not in anyway superior. So, we needed everybody's vote. Then, it is not tactical to expose ourselves to the money bags of the PDP. We wanted the presidential election to be over, which is national. Now, the governorship and House of Assembly elections are localised. It is now Ogun State. The president has no business with what we do in Ogun State. He will not vote in Ogun State. We, the people of Ogun State, will decide what will happen in Ogun State on Saturday. The suspension has raised questions. Some people that he should have been suspended at the ward, local government and state… You caught an armed robber. You see the gun. The goods he was carrying were video-taped. And you now say that you must prove beyond all reasonable doubts. Well, the law is an ass. But, the law is also sensible. In the first place, we had written as far back as last year to the national leadership. You may not know it. I had written to the caretaker committee. The caretaker committee in turn, with those of us at the state caucus, signed the document. We told the State Working Committee to complain about his anti-party activities. On December 31, last year, at the crossover, he said APC will lose Ogun State. It was front page of Punch. Then, at another point, he said: 'I will work against Dapo Abiodun.' We attached that document too. We had to expose all these to the National Working Committee (NWC). The National Working Committee cannot wake up one morning and say they had suspended him. We had complained. His ward had complained. His local government had complained. The state caretaker committee complained. During the presidential rally, he provoked us by bringing APM banners, APM billboard, APM symbol. He is lucky that our people are decent and responsible. We supplied the tape wher4e he said he will destroy APC in Ogun State. What further evidence do we need? To go to Press? If you are queried in Thisday, do you go to the press. If you queried it The Nation and The Nation finally sacks you, must The Nation produce the steps it has taken? There is modern-day technology showing the evidence we attached; on these anti-party activities; since October, since the primary. What edge does your candidate have over and above other candidates? If you watch the result of last national elections, we produced the senator for Ogun West, which includes Yewas, Aworis, Eguns and Anagos. If we can produce Tolu Odebiyi as senator for that district, that is a big victory. And if we can score 6,000 out of 9,000 votes, is that not an indication that we are firmly on ground, even in Akinlade's local government? That was an election where he was going about with arms, SARs and police. The commissioner of police was closing his eyes to his misbehavior. Illyiasu is not the Commissioner of Police to be in an enlightened state like Ogun. He should be kicked out of the place. He closed his eyes and one of his boys was killed on the way to Ilaro . They wanted to ambush results. If you are on ground, you will not go and ambush results. The edge that we have is that we won that senatorial district and one House of Representatives seat in the so-called Akinlade's area. We produced the senator in the Central. We produced all the three House of Representatives members. With Kashamu Buruji in his own Ogun East, we came first. If you add all these together, we are home and dry by the grace of God. What is the position of President Muhammadu Buhari on these anti-party activities? I am disappointed with the way the media is over-playing Amosun's visit to Aso Rock. Amosun is suffering from a serious complex. Serious complex. Inferiority complex. If he has confidence himself, he doesn't need to be running in and out of the villa. He is a governor. All governors are given direct access. A serious governor, a busy governor will not be going for photo-shopping with the president everyday. He has gone there 28 times, from his words. What result did it produce? The oresident came to Abeokuta and you are referring to the president's remarks: 'vote for me, exercise your right to vote at all elections.' First, he canvassed for himself as president, as a politician, ans a president who swore to protect the constitution of Nigeria. He spoke as president; that the constitution guarantees your rights, freedom of association, right to vote for who you like. So, he spoke as a politician and as a statesman. It doesn't bother me at all. The president has no vote in Ogun State. He has no direct say in the outcome of the elections in Ogun State. You don't go and sit at the villa. President's vote is in Katsina. The president has spoken as a statesman that we should go and exercise our rights as provided in the constitution. Now, we will go and exercise that right. I don't need to go to the villa to exercise my right. The vote in villa is at the villa. It is not in Ogun State. Does that mean that the so-called clamour for power shift to Egbado by Governor Amosun will not count in this election? It is his own selfishness. He claimed that he has trained Akinlade. Training him in what? Three quarter of Abeokuta is a dust. I was born into Abeokuta, a modern town exposed to education; first in everything, first newspaper, our roads were tarred. There was railway. I will show you the photo of my train ride to Abeokuta, 61 years ago, in 1958. There was power when I was born in Abeokuta, managed by one Ghanaian. So, every modern facility were there in Abeokuta. Today in Abeokuta, three quarter of the roads he is constructing is still dusty. We are now back to dusty road. So, what is he going to sell to make him win? He is a liability to us. He has left the party. So, the party now has a clean slate. The people now perceive us a true progressives. I can tell you, where I voted, in the Government reservation Area, everybody is highly educated; professionals. Titi Oseni scored 106 votes to Amosun's eight votes. It shows you the liability that he is. It was the party; my appeal to the party; that made people to vote for him out of pain. In retrospect, people now said they were happy for heeding my advice to vote for him. He has now gone full blast for the APM. So, the line is drawn. So, the incumbency will be finally liquidated on Saturday? The mistake he is making is that when you are on your way out of office, you become a lame dock. Anywhere in the world, even in advanced countries, you become a lame duck. That was why Hillary Clinton, despite the successes recorded by Obama, distanced herself from Obama. The world will not listen to somebody who has done his own bit. What else does Amosun want? He was senator in 2003. He has been governor two times. He is going back as a senator. People are asking: is he the only one? He doesn't appreciate the goodness of God in his life. Would there be realignment of forces in favour of Dapo Abiodun ahead of the polls? I will not disclose that to you. Because I can tell you our greatest foe, normally is the PDP. I will throw the question back to you. Is the PDP settled in Ogun State? You disapprove of the commissioner of police in Ogun State. He will still be there in Saturday. How can you curtail the perceived partiality of the commissioner. What exactly did the commissioner do? First of all, why I am upset with him is that, as a citizen of Ogun State, I pay tax to Ogun State. Millions of naira every year. Let the governor himself disclose. I am among the first 10 that pay the highest tax to Ogun State Government. I demand the right for protection from Illyiasu. And Illyiasu has failed woefully. If his Commander-In-Chief is stoned, a bottled water is thrown at your Commander-In-Chief; with a lot policemen surrounding the hoodlums on that day, and the commissioner of police claimed not to have been able to catch one, that does not need any further analysis to show that he is a total failure. God forbids, if anything had hit President Buhari that day and he collapsed in that stadium, what will those of us from Ogun State say? The police commissioner did not catch one. I went to the president a week after. I asked: what's going on? A whole Commander-In-Chief, just president. Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, which include the police. If not for the eagle eye of the Presidential Guard, who were sharp enough; even the domestic staff of the president fell flat behind the president on that day. The police did not fond one person. I told the president that his bill board was being destroyed. Mr. President told me that, if it had happened in the North, it would have led to a riot. Yet, they threw things at the president and he commissioner of police did not catch anybody. As for him, it is of no value. What can the CP do to us? We have told our people to be ready to face anybody. The law says you have the right to defend yourself. You don't wait when you see somebody with a gun pointed at you. You wrestle with the one and you fall down and they say murder. You can't commit murder. It is self-defense. We have resorted to self-defense. Let one million Illyiasu remain as commissioner. We will cast our votes in a peaceful manner. Those who are backing him will be disappointed in Ogun State on Saturday when we deliver the state to the APC and Mr. President who has won his election. We don't need the police. Where you are majority, God is with you. How can we avert violence on Saturday? I can assure you that we in Ogun State are determined that every vote should count. We have resorted to self-help. I am not ashamed to say it. I told all the OPC in each neighbourhood and the vigilante in each neighbourhood to be ready for self-defense. So, we have resorted to self-help. How many policemen are in Ogun State? They can't even go round the wards and polling booths. I can assure you it will be peaceful elections as it was two weeks ago. What are challenges that will face the next governor of Ogun State? Too many. Nobody know the quantum of indebtedness of Ogun State. The labour; the leaders of civil servants are claiming that N66 billion are owed. Some are saying N200 billion. But, I know that what is being owed is not less than N100 billion. It is a major challenge. To many uncompleted projects. In the civil service town, you go and erect a shopping mall of the magnitude of shoprite; to people who atre used to going to Isoko and Isapon. Most of the dualised roads; three quarters are not completed. You do one kilometer dualised road. Every other inner roads in Abeokuta and other parts of the state, all inter-community roads are in a terrible shape. The people of Ado-Odo, Igbesa, they are living in medieval age. No road. So it is in entire Ogun East-Ijebu and Remo. Ogun Central, you don't need to talk about it. All the roads I did, 19 years after, they are unattended to. So, the magnitude of the problem; it is going to be heavy. I pity the governor that is coming, Dapo Abiodun. I do not envy him. He has a lot of restructuring to do financially, economically, educationally. Schools in Ogun State are bad. Go to Agbado, go to many areas in the state. In many of the schools, they are sitting on the floor. I feel upset. I weep for Ogun State. The essence of democracy is to provide a veritable tool for socio-economic and political development for the people and provide the platform for participatory governance. As democracy is defined as the government of the people for the people and by the people, democracy enthrones leaders who are collectively chosen by the majority of the people. It is expected that leaders who are elected into various positions of trust should endeavour to endear themselves to the people who elected them. This obviously is achievable through good leadership. The Abia state story is not far from the analogy above. This is because of the strategic position of Abia state in the political economy of the south-east as one of the states that hold a high profile commercial activity in Nigeria. In realising this strategic fact, the Governor of Abia state, Dr.Okezie Ikpeazu took the bull by the horn through the Enyimba Economic City Project. The philosophy behind this project is to launch the popular Ariaria international market into global attention such that people from all works of life would find the market suitable for their trade. By so doing the economy of the state will no doubt improve in geometric progression. Although Ikpeazu's administration was greeted with so many distractions such as protracted legal battle which followed his election in 2015, his administration was able to pierce through the thorny path to chat a new course for the overall well being of the people of the state. For instance, one sector that the Ikpeazu led administration has made a remarkable impact is on the area of road construction across the three senatorial zones of the state. Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state is certainly the better. Roads which were hitherto abandoned have received proper attention. Worthy of mention in this regard include Faulks road being handled by SETRACO. Work has also commenced on the strategic Port-Harcourt road not to mention Ukaegbu, Ehere, Umuola and many others. As at the last count over 70 roads have been completed with so many others on-going. Despite space constraint, it is worthy to mention that the governor has also made remarkable in road into the overhauling of the health, education and agricultural sectors of the state respectively. But a revisit the Enyimba Economic City Project, cannot be overemphasized. This is because of the economic importance and the benefits the investment will yield to the people of the state when completed. This singular project which has seen the governor travel the length and breadth of the world, from Singapore to China, as well as other Asian and American countries, is sitting on a wide field of 9,803 hectares of land spreading across three local government areas of Ukwa east, Ukwa west and Ugwunagbo. There is no doubt that the Enyinmba Economic City Project will open up Nigeria's business fortune internationally and cushion the effect of population influx into the state, the city is also designed to provide Urban Housing of over 3000 units as well as over 2000 industrial business units with an estimated annual value output of more than five billion dollars. The project which is to be done under Private Public Partnership with Crown Realities Plc, the host communities, Abia state government and the federal government of Nigeria has witnessed its first phase fully designed and would commence in the first quarter of 2019. This is indeed a one in a million project. One predominant cankerworm that has eaten deep into the developmental fabrics of our dear nation is the inability of successive administrations to continue with the project of their predecessors. This ugly monster is the reason behind abandoned projects scattered in almost 36 states of the federation, thereby retarding economic growth and creating unemployment. In one of his media outings, Governor Ikpeazu noted that he will be fulfilled in life to see the Enyinmba Economic City Project completed and commissioned as the project is capable of re-writing the ugly economic story of the state as well as provide over 600,000 job opportunities for the teeming youths of the state Majority of Abians who realize the prospects in the Enyinmba Economic City Project express worries that the next administration may not complete the project and therefore called on all the citizens of Abia state to reconsider Ikpeazu for his second term to enable him to realize this lofty dreams. Dr Ugodinma Onyika , a community leader from Ugwunagbo local government area, said economic empowerment of the people is not rested on short term gifts such as cars, cash, but a solid foundation such as the Enyimba Economic City Project which has a positive multiplier effect and can stand the test of time He commended Ikpeazu for conceiving such a wonderful idea and urged him to face the project squarely "even if this is the singular project he would achieve in his time as a governor, his name must have been written in Gold". Maxi Ukaoma Wabara, a businessman, noted that visionary leadership is the ability of such leader to see far beyond his immediate surrounding and focus into a distant future which according to him is represented by the Ikpeazu's Enyinmba Economic City Project. Maxi Wabara was of the view that politicisind of ideas was not the best for the state and urged politicians and the entire people of Abia state to allow the governor to return for the second term so that this noble dream targeted towards boosting and laying a lasting economic foundation for the state was not abandoned half way. But, apart from the Enyimba Economic City Project, Abians are aware of many other laudable projects across all the sectors which were started by the present government and ongoing which gives credence to the need for Ikpeazu's administration to be given a second term in office. The Abia State political landscape has provided a peaceful trajectory which had afforded the three senatorial zones of the state opportunity for the number one position of the state. Abia north senatorial zone had the slot of the governorship between 1999-2007 followed by the Abia central between 2007 – 2015 before the turn of the Abia south which presented the incumbent who will spend one term by may 29 this year and have performed creditably and should be allowed for Equity-sake to complete his second tenure His other two strong contenders, Dr. Alex Otti of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and Dr. Uche Ogah of the All Progressives Congress (APC), have exhibited desperation in their quest to become the governors since 2015 against the Charter of Equity propounded by the founding fathers of the state. But, behind the duos desperation is a peep into their past. Dr Alex Otti was alleged to have run down Diamond bank as managing Director which led to the bank being acquired today by Access bank Plc while his counterpart, Dr Uche Ogah is alleged to be bankrupt with some of his workers being owed for the past eight months. Stella Odimegwu, an Ohafia born legal practitioner described the ambition of the duo as a wild goose chase. She said "APGA and APC in the state are divided against themselves with two Governorship candidates parading themselves and it can not stand. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has done well in this his first term and should be allowed to complete his tenure" "These are the same people who dragged him for years at the court after the 2015 governorship election and they are out again. These two ambitious men who cannot wait for their turn come 2023 are the real enemies of the state," she said. Odimegwu added: "Ikpeazu,s chances are brighter and he is favoured to win the election. I am not scoring him 100 per cent, but he should be voted and supported by the entire Abians to complete the good works that he has started" In This Story:#UcheOgah #AlexOtti #APGA #MaxiWabara #UgodinmaOnyika #OkezieIkpeazu Sharing Is Caring. 37 political parties back Abdulrazaq, others in Kwara Posted: 06 Mar 2019 06:24 AM PST
Not less than 37 political parties in Kwara state on Wednesday openly declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq in the March 9th governorship election. The parties under the umbrella of Kwara Like-Minds Political Parties (KLPP) equally threw their weight behind all the APC House of Assembly candidates at the polls. Addressing reporters in Ilorin, spokesperson of the parties Prince Oladele Sunday directed their members to vote en masse for all APC candidates during the Saturday polls. Oladele said: "We are at a critical stage in our country but most especially our dear state is already in political labour room and KLPP has joined hands with APC and other stakeholders in taking a successful delivery of liberated Kwara. "Today is not meant for an unending discussion but to let the whole world know that when the Kwarans are dying slowly in the hands of political tyrant, KLPP showed up. When Kwarans are groaning and gnashing their teeth under the bad governance in the state, posterity will be fair to us that KLPP showed up. "Finally, the members of KLPP hereby instruct our numerous members and appeal to the teeming voters in the state to come out en masse on March 9th to vote for all APC candidates. "Let us all 'show up' so that we can all move from 'o to gee' to 'o to pe.'" Chairman of APC Hon Bashir Bolarinwa said: "The forthcoming governorship and House of Assembly elections are equally important to APC. "It is important to us as party and the people of Kwara state. I want to say here that out of 55 political parties that are functional in the state, today there are above 35 have openly declared to identify with us. "What that simply means is that all of them as members of these political parties are directing their members and appealing to the people of Kwara state to vote on Saturday for the governorship candidate of our party. "Further to that all the 24 House of Assembly candidates of APC will on Saturday be candidates of their parties as well." Atiku faces uphill task at tribunal, says Agbakoba Posted: 06 Mar 2019 06:14 AM PST
According to him, it has to be proven that there were electoral irregularities and that they affected the election results. Agbakoba, a Life Bencher who chairs the Peoples Trust Party (PTP) and the "third force political parties", said he was misquoted in his earlier statement to say that Atiku would lose at the Tribunal. "That is far from the truth. I meant the former Vice President will face an uphill task, given the circumstances of challenging the election results. "My initial decision to charge the former Vice President not to go to court is based on the fact that President Buhari has subverted the Supreme Court by the removal of the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Walter Onnoghen, and the appointment of the Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria. "My perception is that we need to resolve the status of the Supreme Court. I wonder what is taking the National Judicial Council so long. "I am also worried about the historical precedent, as no petition on presidential election result has ever succeeded. "As one of Nigeria's experienced election petition lawyers, I know that the burden of proof to succeed in an election petition is unfairly huge. "We first have to prove that there are electoral irregularities and in my view, once you prove this, you should succeed. "Unfortunately, even if you prove electoral irregularities you will have to show how that affected the results of the election. "Remember that the gap between former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and President Buhari is about four million votes," Agbakoba said. The former Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) President believes the presidential election results were "manifestly riddled" with electoral irregularities. He, however, emphasised that Atiku is constitutionally entitled to approach the tribunal. "My personal advice has become irrelevant. I fully support and wish former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar every success," Agbakoba. In the earlier statement urging Atiku not to challenge Buhari's victory, Agbakoba said: "I understand the PDP is aggrieved about the outcome of the election and alleged massive irregularities. But, I urge former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar not to approach the Election Petition Tribunal. "He might have moved backwards by his loss but he should not lose sight of the legacy and greatness that lies in front of him. He is in a strong position to take up the mantle of a statesman. "He can build a new Nigeria movement from the motley of small parties, third force actors, change actors and millions who are desperate for a strong, united Nigeria." Breaking: Amaechi backs AAC guber candidate in Rivers Posted: 06 Mar 2019 05:43 AM PST
Following this development, Amaechi urged members of APC and supporters of the party in Rivers to massively vote on Saturday for Biokpomabo, a riverine man from Kula-Kalabari in Akuku-Toru Local Government Area of the state. The minister of Transportation made this declaration Wednesday morning in Eleme, Eleme LGA of Rivers state, while addressing APC's members and supporters, ahead of the March 9 polls. He noted that although the main opposition APC in Rivers was still in court over the non-inclusion of the party's standard bearer, Pastor Tonye Cole, an indigene of Abonnema-Kalabari in Akuku-Toru LGA, on the ballot. Amaechi stressed that it was pertinent to adopt the candidate of AAC, considering the closeness of the governorship and House of Assembly elections. He said: "This morning, the leadership of the party met and agreed that we would work with a party called African Action Congress (AAC), while we are still in court to reclaim our mandate. "So, on Saturday (March 9), we will vote for AAC. You must go home and vote for AAC. There should be no excuse not to vote, because there will be security for everybody. You must prepare and make sure you win the governorship election." The transportation minister also enjoined Rivers people to massively vote for the AAC's candidate, stressing that there were numerous benefits they would derive from the government. He said: "The moment the governorship election is won by AAC's candidate this Saturday and the new governor is inaugurated on May 29, 2019, by June this year; there will be local government's chairmanship and councillorship elections. 'So, you should all go out and vote and make sure that you are not rigged out." The transportation minister was, however, silent on who APC members in Rivers should vote for in the House of Assembly poll, but an ally of Amaechi, who spoke in confidence, disclosed that AAC did not have candidates for House of Assembly election. The move, said the CBN chief, is to revive the moribund textile and clothing industry. Besides, it will save the country the more than $4 billion being spent annually on the importation of textiles and ready-made clothing materials. Speaking at the at the Textile Industry Stakeholders' Meeting in Abuja yesterday, Emefiele said that the apex bank had decided to support the revival of the textile sector. "These steps," he said, "include, financial support to textile manufacturers with the provision of funds at single digits rate, to refit, retool and upgrade their factories in order to produce high quality textile materials for the local and export market. "Effective immediately, the CBN hereby places the access to FX for all forms of textile materials on the FX restriction list. Accordingly, all FX dealers in Nigeria are to desist from granting any importer of textile material access to FX in the Nigerian Foreign exchange market. "In addition, the CBN shall adopt a range of other strategies that will make it difficult for recalcitrant smugglers to operate banking business in Nigeria. The details of those strategies will be unfolded in due course. "The CBN shall, initially support the importation of cotton lint for use in textile factories, with a caveat that such importers shall begin sourcing all their cotton needs locally beginning from year 2020." As part of its Anchor Borrowers Programme (ABP), Emefiele said the CBN will support local growers of cotton to enable them meet the needs of the textile industries in Nigeria. The CBN chief explained: "To this end, the CBN shall also support efforts to source high-yield cotton seedlings so as to ensure the yields from our cotton farmers meet global benchmarks. "As regards the provision of stable electricity, the CBN has also offered to support the creation of textile production centers in certain designated areas in Nigeria where access to electricity shall be guaranteed." Emefiele noted that in 2016, the CBN began discussions with the Kano and Kaduna state governments to establish textile industrial areas in a bid to guarantee stable electricity in those industrial areas. "We would intensify efforts with these states and others that may show keen interest to see to the quick actualisation of such programmes," Emefiele said. On the FX restrictions, specifically which will take effect from today (yesterday), Emefiele insisted that "banks or FX authorised dealers are prohibited from granting or selling Forex to anybody who wants to import textiles, clothing, textile materials whether through valid and non-valid, I would just advice that there is no need for anybody to talk about whether it is valid or non-valid format we need to close it. "Once we close it, it will make it difficult for them to import those garments into Nigeria so that all those garments that are sitting in the factories, the people will be forced to go and buy them whether the price is right or not they will be forced to buy them and the fact that they are forced to buy, they create opportunities for more people to go into that business and over time the price will stabilise that is the idea. "I felt that the cotton association talked about time from planting to harvesting cotton and whether it will be in the kind of quantity that you may need and the rest so that is why we are saying for now subject to speaking to these stakeholders behind closed doors, we may say 'you can import your cotton that is needed by the industry to gin and then convert into their textiles on the condition that by 2020 this will stop in which case our farmers would have gotten into the rhythm to produce the cotton that we need for our textile production." These measures, the CBN governor explained, "will discourage smuggling, resuscitate this critical industry, and support efforts at creating jobs for Nigerians." He said the apex bank took the critical measures to save the textile industry. Emefiele said: "Today, Nigeria currently spends above $4 billion annually on imported textiles and ready-made clothing. With a projected population of over 180 million Nigerians, the needs of the domestic market are huge and varied, with immense prospects, not only for job creation, but also for growth of the domestic textile industries." Highlighting the potential of the local market, Emefiele said: "The need to support provision of uniforms and clothing apparels for school students, military and paramilitary officers as well as workers in the industrial sector. "In addition, when we consider the amount spent on outfits for religious and social events such as weddings, naming and funeral ceremonies on a weekly basis, the potential market size is well over $10 billion annually." Emefiele told the stakeholders about the CBN readiness to change the narrative. He noted: "I believe that if the CBN, along with other critical stakeholders, are able to address some of the challenges facing this key industry, given the high domestic demand for textiles, we will be able to create jobs for our economy, while increasing production of textiles in Nigeria. "Regarding the loans from the Bank of Industry (BoI), we will be engaging the bank, a substantial portion of the loans that they have lent out to you are our own Central Bank interventions so we will be talking to see how these loans can be properly restructured so that you now have a new beginning." Emefiele said he was "optimistic that they will agree for the restructuring given the attempts we are now making to get this industry back to life. Once this is done I believe you shouldn't have any problems about restructuring the facility." On the textile factories that have stockpiles of inventories flooding their warehouses and storage facilities, he said: "T CBN will make things difficult for those things to come in, don't worry, in our closed door session we will talk about dealing with smuggling and you know the Central Bank does not carry guns or arms we do not have lorries to be at the border post, but we know what we will do to make it difficult for those smugglers to bring those things into Nigeria. "When we make life difficult for them to smuggle this items into the country, what does that do, it opens the market for you so that those who would have gone to buy those smuggled or imported goods will be forced to come to the Nigerian. That is one immediate economic solution that I can see and since the president has signed an executive order that will now compel everybody flow in your direction." The President of the National Cotton Association of Nigeria, Mr. Anibe Achimugu, expressed delight that the CBN's latest offensive against textile smuggling and desire to revive the textile industry now signals "better days are ahead of us under the ABP for members of Cotton and Textile Group (CTG). He expressed the groups' gratitude for the plans unfolded for the local market by the CBN governor. •My tenure ends in June, says Emefiele CENTRAL Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele said yesterday that his tenure will end in June. He was reacting to news that of his purported sack or being forced to leave office in two weeks. The CBN boss said: "At least you can see me, I am doing my work, my tenure expires in June and at least, let's continue." He noted that even if he "leaves at the end of his first tenure, the intervention programmes of the CBN has been on since 1978 and it has moved from one governor to another I am very optimistic that even if another governor comes, no right thinking person will abandon an initiative that is laudable and that is meant to create jobs for the good of our country." The CBN yesterday dismissed claims that Emefiele has been sacked. Responding to enquiries from The Nation, the Director, Corporate Communications of the bank, Isaac Okorafor said: "The governor is in his office working." Another official of the bank said: "There is nothing like that, the governor is here, his tenure expires in June." An online medium had reported on Monday that the CBN governor has been sacked by the presidency and given two weeks to clear his table and "handover to an unnamed successor." President of National Cotton Association of Nigeria Mr. Anibe Achimugu at the textile stakeholders meeting in Abuja told the CBN governor that "we give God the glory that you are sitting here today. You have done well; we are praying that even with our own intervention, that you will do a lot more by the grace of God."
