Are you planning graduate studies toward a Ph.D.?

The NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) is the largest and one of the most prestigious awards available to support graduate studies toward Ph.D.'s in science, math, engineering, and social/behavioral fields. The NSF award provides 3 years of support, with an annual stipend of $34,000. You can learn more about the NSF award at www.nsfgrfp.org

226 MARYLAND SENIORS, RECENT ALUMNI, AND GRADUATE STUDENTS HAVE WON NSF GRADUATE FELLOWSHIPS IN THE PAST 7 YEARS!

IMPORTANT: Students may apply TWICE for the NSF GRFP - once before starting graduate studies, and once during the first two years of graduate study. To enhance your chance of success is it essential to apply at each opportunity.

We are offering two SPRING NSF GRFP information sessions for students planning to apply this Fall 2019 or in subsequent years. Current undergraduates at all levels and recent alumni are welcome to attend, as are those who will be first or second year graduate students in Fall 2019.

NSF Info Session 1:

Monday, April 29 - 4 pm to 5 pm
Plant Sciences Building - Room 1130
RSVP to nsfgrfp@umd.edu

NSF Info Session 2:
Tuesday, April 30 - 4 pm to 5 pm
Plant Sciences - Rm 1113 (different room from Monday)
RSVP to nsfgrfp@umd.edu

Eligibility: You must be a US citizen or Permanent Resident to apply for the NSF graduate research fellowship. You must be applying for graduate studies in an NSF supported field.

Deadlines to apply will be in late October 2019 for NSF GRFP awards. Planning early gives you your best chance of success!

If you are interested but unable to attend either session please email them at: nsfgrfp@umd.edu

Apply today for BSOS Summer/Fall 2019 Undergraduate Experience Funds!

Posted: 22 Apr 2019 01:26 PM PDT

The College of Behavioral and Social Sciences is currently accepting applications for the BSOS Undergraduate Experience Funds!

These funds assist undergraduate BSOS majors engaged in experiential learning outside the classroom, such as unpaid internships, research, service learning, and professional or academic conferences. The funds are intended to help offset expenses related to such activities like travel/transportation expenses, professional attire, and other opportunity costs (for example: the need to give up a part-time paid job in order to take an unpaid internship).

If you are an ECON major with financial need that is preventing you from taking advantage of an unpaid opportunity, I encourage you to apply for BSOS Undergraduate Experience Funds. There are two funds that are specifically intended just for ECON majors!

Applications for Summer and Fall 2019 experiences are due on May 10, 2019 by 9 a.m. Click here to apply. Before submitting your application, make sure to review the eligibility criteria.

Questions regarding the scholarships or the application process can be e-mailed to
bsos-scholarships@umd.edu.
