Justice Bulkachuwa Asked To Withdraw From Presidential Election Tribunal By PDP

Posted: 09 May 2019 04:43 PM PDT

Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has written the president of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zainab Bulkachuwa to recuse herself from the Presidential Election Tribunal sitting over the petition filed by its presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The opposition party, says it is worried about Justice Bulkachuwa being the chairman of the panel to hear Atiku's petition because her husband is a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator.

According to the PDP, it would be difficult to convince any reasonable person that she will not discuss the case with her husband who is an interested party.

The letter titled 'A Request To Recuse Yourself From The Panel Hearing Petition No. CA/PEPC/002/2019, was dated May 8, 2019 and signed by PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus and the National Secretary, Senator Umaru Ibrahim Tsuari.

A copy of the letter which was obtained by Vanguard read in part: "My Lord, it is no more a secret, that your dear husband, Hon. Adamu Mohammed Bulkachuwa, contested the February 23, 2019 election for the position of Senator in Bauchi North Senatorial district and won same on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

"This information is not just in the public domain but has dominated both public and private discussions to the extent that it has become a sore source of worry not just for members of our party but to the generality of Nigerians because of your very unique and critical position as the President of the Court of Appeal which is saddled with the sacred responsibility of hearing petitions arising from the presidential election.

"This fear was palpable enough just with you as the President of the Court of Appeal but has now been worsened and compounded by the discovery that you have decided to appoint yourself as chairman of the Panel to hear the petition.

The party added that "we are reasoning that, armed with this golden rule of justice as fair hearing and given your direct intimacy through your dear husband, with the APC, one of the parties in this Election petition, your lordship would have exercise your constitutional right and powers guardedly, judiciously and judicially, by excluding yourself from the panel of this honourable court sitting over the particular petition.

"It is based on the above premises, therefore that we are constrained to respectfully request for your Lordship to recuse yourself from presiding over and/or sitting as a member of the panel hearing the instant petition as it would be impossible for your lordship to convince any reasonable man that your dear husband never discussed this petition, which he is patently interested in its outcome with you, throughout the trial."

University Governing Council Kicks, As Vice-Chancellor Is Sacked With Immediate Effect

Posted: 09 May 2019 12:26 PM PDT

The Kwara State University, Vice-chancellor  has been relieved from office with immediate effect.

A statement by the Kwara government, Monday afternoon, directed Professor Abdulrasheed Na'Allah to immediately step down for Professor Kenneth Adeyemi.

Mr Adeyemi will serve as acting Vice Chancellor while Mr Naalah proceeds on terminal leave.

But for his unceremonious removal, Mr Naalah would have remained in office till July 27 when his tenure expires.

The Kwara State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Science and Technology, Abdullahi Alikinla, urged Mr Adeyemi to "take charge of responsibilities relating to the smooth running of the institution in accordance with the law establishing it."

Abdulfatah Ahmed, Kwara State governor
Mr Alikinla said Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed took the decisions regarding the two professors in the exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Kwara State University Law 2009, as amended.
The law, he said, empowers the governor, as the visitor to the University, to appoint and remove the Vice Chancellor for good cause and following due consultations. The state government did not give any reason for the sudden removal of Mr Na'Allah, the pioneer head of the institution.

However, the Nigerian Tribune is quoting the chairman of the university's governing council, Saka Nuru, as dissociating the council from the governor's action.

"This directive is not in tune with the University's law and is going to lead to distraction from the Rain Semester examination and the process appointment of principal officers that are currently in progress," the newspaper quoted Professor Nuru as saying.
Prof AbdulRasheed Na'Allah
"This action of the state government is illegal and the Governing Council of KWASU has no hand in the directive."

Mr Na'allah, 56, was appointed vice-chancellor at the inception of the university in the 2009-2010 academic session.

Mr Adeyemi, 69, was a professor of operations research and business development at Covenant University.

Adeleke vs Oyetola: PDP Outlines Next Line Of Action

Posted: 09 May 2019 08:50 AM PDT

Senator Ademola Adeleke and Gov. Gboyega Oyetola

The main opposition party, the People's Democratic Party, PDP, has disclosed that it will proceed to the Supreme Court to challenge the verdict of the Appeal Court given in favour of Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as winner of the Osun 2018 governorship election.

This was contained in a statement signed by the PDP's Vice Chairman, Eddy Olafeso, where he said that the party expressed shock over the outcome of the appeal.

Recall that INEC had declared Oyetola as the winner of the Osun State governorship election which prompted his main opponent, Ademola Adeleke of the PDP to filed petition before the three-man Osun State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal, with the prayer that he should be declared winner, Daily Post reports.

Adeleke posited that he already won the September 22, 2018 poll, stressing that there was no need for the supplementary election held on September 27, 2018.

The tribunal, in its March 22, 2019 judgment, nullified Oyetola's victory and declared Adeleke and the PDP the winner of the election. The judgment was termed as minority judgement in some quarters based on the split judgement of two to one.

But Olafeso, in the statement issued on Thursday after the Appeal Court judgement, stated that, "Today the Federal Court of Appeal Panel delivered its judgment on the matter of Osun Governorship election in favor of the APC and its candidate in the election.

"We must say as a party in the matter, we are shocked at the premise upon which the said verdict is anchored, therefore we are certainly thinking, and importantly, in conjunction with our candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke to exploit the only available option to us, by appealing against this decision to the Supreme Court."

The PDP Vice Chairman further stated that, "It is crucial for us to underscore our fervent believe that justice is the bedrock upon which our democracy rest squarely and without it, despotism shall reign unhindered.

"That will not be the portion of our dear nation, thus we are determined to ensure that we pursue all actions that will give muscle to the electoral desires of the people of Osun State as validly expressed in that election.

"We restate that the APC did not fairly win that election and President Buhari gave this view credence when he publicly described the victory of his Party as "remote controlled", thereby confirming that power privileges were criminally abused by his government and Party.

"Most certainly, we shall approach the Supreme Court for final adjudication on this matter.

"We appeal to PDP members and supporters in Osun State to be law abiding and shun all provocations. There is certainly another judicial dawn that beckons," Olafeso stated.

Exclusive behind the scenes look at Kim Kardashian's Met Gala outfit

Exclusive behind the scenes look at Kim Kardashian's Met Gala outfit
Kim Kardashian beggared belief when she turned up to the Met Gala in the most spectacular Thierry Mugler creation. Now, Vogues takes us behind the scenes to look at the making of that very moment.

French designer Thierry Mugler created Kim Kardashian West's look with the help of the world's foremost corset maker.  The figure-hugging silicon dress was made even more special because it was the first piece that designer Manfred Thierry Mugler has created for the House in over 20 years.

Spun with silk organza and dripping with sparkling crystals to emulate a wet look, the Mugler creation was made to mimic the wet shirtdress that Sophia Loren wore in the 1957 film Boy on a Dolphin.

Kim's waist, or lack thereof is what really got people's tongues wagging and the video shows that she had to be laced into a corseted bodysuit that was custom-made by Mr. Pearl, widely acknowledged as the world's foremost corset-maker.

Speaking about why she chose to go with Mugler for her Met Gala look, Kim said, "He is the king of camp, he invented camp."

Quite touchingly, Kim reveals the reason behind Kanye's unusually understated look. Whilst Kim w as dripping in couture, Kanye stayed in the background wearing a simple black jacket and slacks. She says, "My first Met year I was just his plus-one. I wasn't really invited yet. This year [Kanye said], 'I'm just your plus-one. You're the cover girl and I'm your plus-one, so I'll just kind of fade out in the background and be your date and let you shine. I used to dream about this night."

JUST IN: Court Of Appeal Delivers Judgement, Declares Oyetola Winner Of Osun Election

Posted: 09 May 2019 07:46 AM PDT

Senator Ademola Adeleke and Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola

The Appeal Court Sitting in Abuja on Thursday set aside the majority decision of the Osun State Election Petition Tribunal, which nullified the election of Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, and returned candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Ademola Adeleke, as lawful winner of the September 2018 governorship election in Osun State.

The higher court in a majority judgment of four-one, nullified the majority judgment of the tribunal delivered by Peter Obiorah on the grounds he (Obiorah) in his judgment relied on the evidence of two witnesses which he did not observe.

The appellate court in the majority judgment delivered by the presiding judge, Justice Jummai Sankey, declared the decision of the tribunal which sacked Oyetola as governor a nullity and consequently set it aside, ThisDay reports.

READ ALSO: Oyetola, APC, INEC urge Appeal Court to uphold Osun election

Meanwhile, the 5th member of the panel, Justice George Mbamba, in a dissenting judgment dismissed the appeal and upheld the decision of the tribunal.

Justice Mbamba, held that the submission of the appellant that Justice Obiorah did not participate in the proceedings of February 6, 2019 remains speculative, contentious and one that can only be resolved by means of an affidavit and calling of witnesses.

The Justice argued that if the records of the proceedings of February 6, opened with the statement that the full panel sat the fact that he did not sign the proceedings cannot be enough to conclude that he did not participate in the day's proceedings.

Mbamba further noted that the issue of sabotage cannot be overruled as the records were transmitted by court's registrar.

He consequently dismissed the appeal and upheld the majority decision of the tribunal which sacked Oyetola and returned Adeleke as governor.

Teebillz has revealed 'Tosin Robeck' the new songbird on the block waiting to show her abilities to the world

Posted: 09 May 2019 06:00 AM PDT

Teebillz has revealed 'Tosin Robeck' the new songbird on the block waiting to show her abilities to the world
Tosin Robeck is the new songbird on the block waiting to show the world her abilities.

Robeck's voice captures your attention while creating an impression that seems familiar.

From her two singles, 'Django' to 'Love Letter', the singer smoothly etches sweet nonsense in your heart with a sonorous voice. Robeck combines the relatable vibes of Simi with the aura of Tiwa Savage's lyrics and sound to deliver two inspiring singles.

Robeck is currently signed to The Island Empire and 323 Management under the management of music executive, Tunji Balogun aka Teebillz. If Teebillz has done a good work by nurturing Tiwa Savage's talent into stardom, he's dedicated to making Robeck touch the skies.

Towing her own lines, Robeck sounds so familiar that you keep wondering where you once heard that voice. Something in her sound reminds you of a mix between Tiwa Savage and Seyi Shay but her uniqueness plays out itself in the song, 'Love Letter.'

Ready to take on the world and further express her diversity in rhythm, Robeck jumped on the Fvck You challenge with hilarious shades as a mystery dude. Uniquely bringing a new story to the challenge, Robeck's use of words and delivery is commendable.

Tiwa Savage acknowledges Robeck's talent saying she has no doubt how blessed the young songbird will be because she has an amazing voice. "I have no doubt how much God will bless you beyond your imagination. You have an amazing voice," the Universal Music Group signee said.

Describing her sound as Afro-pop (African Pop) infused with a Caribbean Flavour, but with an Urban twist, Robeck says Tiwa Savage's feat in the music industry remains an inspiration to younger female singers in Nigeria.

"Tiwa Savage has made it possible for young female artists like myself to believe we can attain the highest level of success in the African music industry in spite of the countless limiting factors women have to deal with to succeed in this industry," Robeck noted while commending Savage's feat of signing a deal with Universal Music Group.

Born on March 17, 1995, the 24-year-old singer is not all about music only. The Microbiology graduate of the Babcock university is equally passionate about educating and instilling positive values in society. Robeck decided to join Teach for Nigeria, an NGO and a part of a global network (Teach for all) that aims at solving the problems of educational inequity in the world.

Singer Kcee loses 1million naira bet in Liverpool-Barcelona game

Prior to the end of the Barcelona – Liverpool match, Nigerian singer, Kcee made a one million Naira (N1,000,000) bet that Barcelona would win the game.

Kcee had promised on social media to give 1million naira to his friend, @mrchidozie (a die hard Liverpool fan) if Barca wins.

Argentine star, Lionel Messi was excellent on the night as he completed a brace with a superb free-kick. However, on the return leg, he was a shadow of himself as Liverpool rained goals on Barcelona at Anfield.

The brilliance of the English Premier League side ensured Messi got denied the chance to play in a fourth UEFA Champions League final. He had earlier been predicted to reach the final and eventually win the trophy.

As it turns out, Barcelona lost and Liverpool won.

Shortly after the game, @mrchidozie confirmed receipt of the sum of One million which he won from the singer as a result of the bet.

Daddy Freeze: Tonto Dikeh's son won't suffer in future over her interviews
Daddy Freeze has said Tonto Dikeh's son will not be in any way affected by her recent rants and interviews on various platforms.

In a video he posted on his YouTube channel, the OAP mentioned that in years to come, there will be a different perspectives on how a family is run and people will no longer relegate women to the background as their will more enlightenment on why a woman should be vocal about happenings in her home.

He further said she will only be considered a hero.

Daddy Freeze wrote:

Those saying her son will be affected by her speaking out are only clowning around, afraid to let go, despite the world's visible evolution.

They are, as a result of a flawed moral compass, creating forlornly, a deluded make believe world, as an odd in between compromise, between their reality and their delusions.–

In the actuality of the new world we are all creating, she'll be a hero, so deal with it! ~FRZ

Recall that Tonto Dikeh had granted series of interviews ridiculing her ex-husband on the internet and even went as far as saying he was a 40-seconds man.

Her actions however drew criticisms from various quarters as some people argued her son will be affected in the future and ashamed of his mother's action while he was a baby.

Teni the entertainer on Vogue Magazine
It's great news as Teni appears on Vogue Magazine just after she released her hit single 'Sugar Mummy'. This is a big deal as she takes the international scene.

Teni sat with Fashion News director, Chioma Nnadi for an interview on the magazine where she opened up about living life without limits and redefining what it means to be a woman.

When asked about her new single, Sugar Mummy, Teni said,Teni entertainer, Teniola Apata, Vogue.

"I want to make 'Sugar Mummy' a positive term. She is a woman with swag, who looks good, who is proud to be different." It's that pride, that refusal to conform that has set Teni in a different lane to her peers. Pushing against the sexy narrative and choosing to be unapologetically herself, Teni has already redefined what it means to be a woman and marched to the beat of her own drum.

"There's an assumption that women have to look a certain way to be feminine, but I don't want to conform to that stereotype. My thing is this: You don't get to decide how I choose to live my life. I'm being me—respect that. UGA, the university I went to, was mostly PWI—that's short for a predominantly white institution. I remember someone even asked me if I had elephants in my backyard, it was wild. The other students would look at me crazy when I showed up to class in traditional dress, too. But you know that's who I am. That's my culture. If you can wear your blue jeans, I can wear this."

See excerpts from the interview below.

"Teasers for her upcoming "Sugar Mummy" video are all over her Instagram account, each one more audacious than the next. There she is, decked out in traditional Nigerian pink lace, a bedazzled fascinator perched atop her signature durag like a crown. Another clip features Apata casually swinging off the side of one of Lagos's distinctive yellow danfo buses, dressed in a black T-shirt, jeans, and a towering cobalt blue headwrap, or gele. The aesthetic lies somewhere between streetwise cool kid and soigné West African auntie, and somehow hits just the right note."
