Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Sola Sobowale to Team with Hollywood Stars In New Flick, ‘Shadow Parties’

Posted: 22 May 2019 12:30 AM PDT

Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Sola Sobowale to Team with Hollywood Stars In New Flick, 'Shadow Parties'
Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Sola Sobowale have joined two Hollywood stars to feature in a new film, 'Shadow Parties'.

The movie which already has gone through the post-production stage is produced and directed by seasoned filmmaker Yemi Amodu.

Omotola is the lead actress with hunk actor Yemi Blaq plays her opposite while energetic actress Sola Sobowale joined the other cast of Lucien Morgan, Hollywood actor, and producer known for An American Wolf in London(1981), Theft Unexpected(2013) and Return of the Don (2016), and Magdalena Korpas, Poland-born Paris-based film, and stage actress.

Speaking on the upcoming flick, Amodu said movie lovers should watch out for a very good movie with a twisting plot and an enriched production.

He explained that it was pretty easy choosing Omotola as the lead actress, not just because she is marketable but for the fact that she is a good actress and interprets role excellently.

Other casts in the movie include Segun Arinze, Prince Jide Kosoko, Hafiz Oyetoro, Said Balogun, Sola Kosoko, Rotimi Salami, and others.

A paradox of communal clash, 'Shadow Parties' encapsulates the endless political intrigues that would later transform into blood business of arms and ammunition and of course the killings of innocent residents, which is an exposition of reality.

Amodu explained; "This is a story on communal clashes; like the issue of the herdsmen. We have so many issues bordered on insecurity in the society that needs to be talked about. As a filmmaker, it's my duty is to help the society. 'Shadow Parties' has a lot to do with the society. It is not just producing a film for fun; though we have different themes in the movie. There're drama elements that are entertaining, but the story is didactic enough to teach moral and exposing the evil involved in communal clashes."

'Shadow Parties' shot across major South-west cities of Lagos, Ibadan, Erin Ijesha, Akure and Ekiti, will soon hit the cinemas after a round of exhibitions at major international film festivals across the world.

'Shadow Parties' is a story about Aremu (Ken Erics) who hails from Aje, a town that neighbours Iludun, where his wife, Arike (Toyin Aimakhu) was born. Known for fratricidal wars, which had claimed the lives of Arike's parents, the towns were one more time thrown into war after the kinsmen of Aremu decided to burn his wife and child claiming she was an enemy which then triggered a reprisal attack from the Iluduns led by Lowo (Yemi Blaq), Arike's brother.

Daddy Showkey slams government over meted treatment on Naira Marley in Court
Daddy Showkey has a message for the Nigeria government over the style at which Naira Marley was arraigned in court.

The veteran singer took to his Instagram page on Tuesday, May 21, 2019, where he shared a video and expressed his shock and dismay over the number of security details present at Naira Marley's court trial. According to him, he wonders why the government has failed to use the same energy applied in arraigning Naira Marley in court to face corrupt politicians in the country.

"Eye wey cry 😭 dey see road O na weytin this boy do self wey we never see before, na him kill people will Bomb 💣 na him thief nigeria money yeye dey Smell #showdonshow #daddyshowkey #lionclan #asalamamovement #ajegunletotheworld #positionurself," he captioned the video.

Daddy Showkey's reaction is coming barely 24 hours after Naira Marley was arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos over Internet fraud charges.

A few days ago, Daddy Showkey had slammed Naira Marley for insulting his elders even though he pleaded on his behalf for a soft landing in the hands of the security agency.

Davido's Cousin B-Red, acquires ₦120 million house in Lagos
Adebayo Adeleke, better known by his stage name B-Red, has just acquired a N120 million house in Lagos. He shared photos of a bundle of keys on his Instastories while announcing his new acquisition.

See screenhots below;

While reacting to the new purchase on social media, some fans berated him for stating the price of the house, which some believe could be have over-hyped just as most celebrities allegedly do.

Some even said the keys he flaunted on social media were not close to a house that would be worth as much as N120 million

"Those Keys Don't Look Anything Close To 120 Million… They Look Like Ma House Keys In Mbaise. ••No Disrespect Intended••"

And some wanted to see the photo of the house and not just the keys:

"Great. Missing though is THE PICTURE OF THE ACTUAL HOUSE. If you must floss , floss completely."

We think this one is throwing a shot at Davido:

"Better than buying flit of Car's and remain a tenant.. But why mention the amount?"

Oga, show us a picture of the house, this one demanded:

"Lol and all you could show, is a bunch of key? How about a picture of the house"

We are not sure B-Red is married though:

"Congratulations Hubby😍 God bless our new home🙏🙏 Thank you all for your wishes"

Rivers State: I Rejected Billions Of Naira From Gov Wike , That's Why He Hates Me - Army GOC Sarham

Posted: 21 May 2019 05:03 PM PDT

Governor Nyesom Wike

Maj.-Gen. Jamil Sarham, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Nigerian Army, has claimed that the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, declared war against him because he rejected  (Wike's) billions of naira bribe.

The GOC, who is also the Land Component Commander of Operation Delta Safe, said the Governor offered him billions of naira to compromise the February 23 and March 9, 2019 general elections in Rivers.

This was as the GOC described as bizarre and spurious, allegations by the Governor that he was involved in illegal oil bunkering and leaking the proceedings of the State Security Council meetings to criminals in Rivers state, among others, Daily Post reports.

Maj.-Gen. Sarham disclosed this on Tuesday in a statement by 6 Division's Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Aminu Iliyasu.

He stated, "Wike's resentment against me is based on my choice of professionalism and integrity over the billions of naira offered me by the Rivers State Governor to compromise the 2019 general elections.

"My refusal to be bought over and the rejection of the hefty offer is the genesis of Wike's hatred and vociferous criticisms of me.

"Although, the Nigerian Army does not wish to take issues with the Rivers State Governor, yet it is important to strongly state that the allegations are false and figment of Governor Wike's imagination. It is a deliberate effort to tarnish the towering image of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, and the GOC, 6 Division, Nigerian Army.

"Needless to say that in response to many accusations against the 6 Division, already some responsible good individuals and groups in Nigeria have exposed the antics of Governor Wike against the leadership of the 6 Division and the Nigerian Army.

"It is imperative to state that the campaign of calumny against Maj.-Gen. Sarham and the Nigerian Army's leadership by Governor Wike did not start today. On 22nd February, 2019, Governor Wike brazenly alleged that there was an attempt to exterminate his life by assassins organised by the GOC, 6 Division. As weighty as the allegation was, we are yet to know any action taken by Mr. Wike that guarantees his safety. Mr. Wike has since failed to use civilised legitimate options to prove his allegations against Maj.-Gen. Sarham.

"On the mischievous accusation against Maj.-Gen. Sarham of leaking proceedings of State Security Council meetings to criminals in Rivers State, Mr. Wike knows well that Maj.-Gen. Sarham is not a member of the Rivers State Security Council, neither has he ever approached the gates of Rivers State Government House, since his assumption of office as the GOC, 6 Division. Mr. Wike only came face to face with Maj.-Gen. Sarham on the 15th of January, 2019, during the 2019 Armed Forces Remembrance Day parade at Isaac Boro Park, Port Harcourt.

"The Nigerian Army wishes to challenge Wike to provide the public with any evidence of such meetings, with Maj.-Gen. Sarham in attendance. Wike's allegation against Maj.-Gen. Sarham's selfish involvement in illegal oil bunkering is another reckless, spurious and mischievous accusation.
Hence, Headquarters of 6 Division wishes to request the Rivers Governor to take the most civilised way of putting up a petition to the relevant authorities, to make a point."

The Lower Chambers of the National Assembly, the House of Representatives,  had passed a bill on Tuesday,  which has brought to an end the controversial dichotomy between Polytechnic Higher National Diploma and the Bachelor of Science degree awarded by Nigerian universities.

It could be recalled that Ali Isa and Edward Pwajok from Gombe and Plateau States respectively sponsored a bill this effect, which was adopted after it passed for second reading since April 2017.

It is also noted that the bill in perspective also seeks to end perceived discrimination against polytechnic graduates and remove the problems being faced by HND holders, especially those in the public service.

Strange Vulture Allegedly ”Sent By Boko Haram” Arrested By Police, Triger Tension In Adamawa Community

Posted: 21 May 2019 04:16 PM PDT

Police

The Police in Adamawa State, said on Tuesday that a rumour connecting a certain vulture found in a house in Maiha, in Maiga LGA of Adamawa State, to a possible attack by Boko Haram has no substance and must be disregarded in it's entirety.

SP Othman Abubakar, the Adamawa State Police Command, Public Relations Officer (PPRO), who gave an update on the story during a telephone conversation with DAILY POST, said the vulture in question had been in the said house long enough to have manifested a Boko Haram attack if that was what it represented.

"It is a rumour and that is what it is. There is no substance in it," the PPRO stressed.

Mr. Adamu Madaki, the Commissioner of Police, in Adamawa, had on Monday confirmed the arrest of the suspicious vulture following a complaint against the vulture and the woman who owns it.

Madaki had said an elder of the town called to complain that a woman had brought a vulture and that the last time someone brought three vultures into Maiha, the area was a few days later invaded by Boko Haram insurgents.

Madaki said since the community seemed to be disturbed by the presence of the strange Vulture, the police decided to take custody of it and conduct some investigation.

A source with knowledge of happenings around the controversial vulture who spoke in confidence with our correspondent on Tuesday afternoon indicated that the police command was convinced that the vulture is harmless and the command is merely holding it to calm the anxiety in Maiha, Daily Post reports.

The source said, "One of the media stories claims that someone who was being sought by the police turned into the vulture to evade arrest. This is very untrue because the said person is known to us to be in prison custody as we speak. This angle of the story is clearly false, just as the angle about Boko Haram is most unlikely."

The source further stated that, "The vulture will remain with the police probably up till the weekend when the dust raised by it in Maiha would have subsided."

Kemi Olunloyo accuses Ruggedman of snitching on Naira Marley, see his reaction
Kemi Olunloyo has accused Ruggedman of being the brain behind the arrest of upcoming rapper, Naira Marley by EFCC operatives.

Kemi claimed that she got her information from an inside source within the EFCC that it was Ruggedman that initiated the petition to arrest the up-coming rapper.

She wrote:

#BREAKING @ruggedybaba #Ruggedman pls come clean on snitching out @nairamarley on an assumed name to the @officialefcc. We Investigative Journalists also have "snitches" we call sources inside the antigraft agency. We need transparency in this investigation as the petitioner must stand trial too.

NIGERIANS know your rights! As a prisoner at #PortHarcourt maximum prison, all EFCC cases had petitioners on the stand or their REAL NAMES and lawyers repping them. I'm not a "mad woman" that people call me. I'm in fact the BEST Investigative Journalist on Nigerian soil and don't dare call me "Controversial Journalist" cos if your Nigerian media were doing their job, they would have dug deeper and won't be reporting what I said daily.
Pls confirm or deny this Ruggedman!

But in his defence, Ruggedman wrote that he had nothing to gain from doing so and the law only took its course.

MY LAST POST ON THIS MATTER!
YOU CANT SATISFY HUMANS!

I know a lot of people want to use this sensitive case to trend, so I will not mention any handle directly. But all I will ask is that "anyone with proof of Ruggedman writing a petition against Naira Marley should please make it public asap so people will see.
If they dont, then people should know they are sick and only trying to trend themselves.

The same person fighting rogue police on behalf of innocent youths, can not turn around and get a young guy arrested because of ordinary insults. It's a pity how quick Nigerians forget cos they are angry, but time will tell.
God bless us all.

Ooni Ogunwusi Supports his Olori's crusade in Ekiti by Leading Special Praise and Worship

Ooni of Ife Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi has been spotted in a video performing a praise and worship song at a crusade in Ekiti state. The Ooni had attended the crusade to support his wife, Olori Silekunola Naomi.

The Olori is a Christian evangelist, who has been ministering since she was 18 years old. The Olori took up the commitment of being a fulltime evangelist in 2011, before tying the knot with the Ooni.

Ooni Ogunwusi had taken Olori Naomi as his wife months after his separation from his ex-wife, Wuraola Zainab.

Olori Naomi, who is the founder and president of En-Heralds, an interdenominational ministry based in Akure, Ondo state, recently held a 3-day revival organised in Ikere, Ekiti state.

On the third day of the revival, the Ooni of Ife took the stage at the crusade and performed a praise and worship song to the excitement of the crowd.

This step taken by the Ooni came as a surprise to many people due to the fact that the king of Ife is a traditional ruler. This just shows how far love goes.

Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide Sunscreens, what it means

Posted: 21 May 2019 02:30 AM PDT

Titanium Dioxide and Zinc Oxide Sunscreens, what it means
Ever looked at the ingredients list of your go-to sunscreen bottle? There's a lot of complicated looking ingredients on there (try saying "oxybenzone" three times fast!).

Two popular sunscreen ingredients in particular seem like they're better suited for an AP chem class than for sun protection: titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Besides their complex sounding names, the way they protect your skin from UV light is actually pretty simple. Here's what you need to know about titanium dioxide and zinc oxide, aka mineral sunscreen:

What are titanium dioxide and zinc oxide?
Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are two naturally occurring minerals. When applied topically, they have the ability to block the sun's UVA and UVB radiation from being absorbed into your skin. meaning they are considered broad-spectrum. They're used in physical (aka mineral) sunscreens, says Deanne Mraz Robinson , MD, a dermatologist in Westport, Connecticut.

Wait...so what's a "physical" sunscreen?

There are actually two different kinds of sunscreen: physical and chemical sunscreens.

The first type of sunscreen is chemical. These are made of synthetic ingredients like oxybenzone and octinoxate (you'll see these listed in the "active ingredients" section at the top of the label). They work by sinking into the skin, absorbing harmful UVA and UVB rays, and converting them into heat.

Meanwhile, a physical sunscreen (also referred to as mineral sunscreen), uses either titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, or a combo of both to physically block the sun's radiation by forming a barrier that sits on top of your skin, says Dr. Mraz Robinson. The UV rays literally bounce off of this barrier, so they can't penetrate the skin and cause damage and skin cancer.

Unlike chemical sunscreens , which have ingredients that can cause irritation and even allergic reactions, physical sunscreens are pretty gentle on the skin. In fact, the National Eczema Association recommends mineral sunscreens for people with eczema.

How do you use titanium dioxide and zinc oxide sunscreen?
Any sunscreen (including physical ones) should be applied 15 to 20 minutes before heading outside. It takes time for the ingredients to be absorbed, so until then, your skin is essentially unprotected, says Dr. Mraz Robinson.

You should also re-apply every two hours or sooner if you've been excessively sweating or in the water. If youre sweating, you lose a lot of the protection factor as the lotion drips away, says Whitney Bowe , MD,a derm in New York City.

The more sunscreen you use, the merrier. Derms agree that you need be using a shot glass-sized amount of sunscreen to cover all the exposed parts of your body and a nickel-sized blob for your face. If you skimp (or forget to reapply), you're not getting the full protection number listed on the bottle. Studies show that if you apply SPF 30 the way most people put on sunscreen, youre getting closer to anSPF 10, warns Dr. Bowe.

Who is mineral sunscreen best for?
Both forms are sunscreen are considered safe, and dermatologists always say the best sunscreen is the one you'll actually wear. But since UV rays are deflected off of skin with the mineral version, these types of sunscreens are best for people with heat-activated issues, like melasma or rosacea , says Renee Rouleau, celebrity aesthetician. They are even proven to prevent melasma relapses.

What's the deal with physical sunscreen and the ocean?

You've probably heard a lot about chemical sunscreen ingredients and their effect on the ocean's ecosystem . Not to make matters more complicated, but not all mineral sunscreens are reef-safe either.

"The reason why a lot of mineral sunscreens use nano-sized minerals is because the particles are so small that they dont make you look like a ghost [more on that later]," says Dr. Bowe. Problem is, those tiny minerals can easily be absorbed by-and harm-marine life.

"So if youre looking to be environmentally conscious when youre swimming in the ocean, you want to be using non-nano mineral sunscreens," says Dr. Bowe. For a particle to be considered non-nano, it needs to be larger than 100 nanometers (or 100 billionth of a meter). There is currently no regulation on nano or non-nano sunscreens in the US, but looking for mineral sunscreens labeled with non-nano or reef-safe is a good start.

Anything I should look out for?
If you're using one of those convenient spray sunscreens, try holding your breath or breathe out when applying. Inhaling the nanoparticles of zinc or titanium in the spray can be harmful to lungs, says the Environmental Working Group . Also, don't forget to rub in the spray to ensure full coverage.

Another FYI, because physical sunscreens use zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, two white minerals, they can sometimes leave behind a chalky white finish on the skin (think of the white on surfers' noses). If you have a fair to medium skin tone, this might not be a problem once you work the sunscreen in. But for those with dark skin tones, it might be an issue. Look for lotions that say "clear" or "tinted" on the label.

Rappers, Naira Marley and Tekashi 6ix9ine are victims of their own vanity

Posted: 21 May 2019 12:30 AM PDT

Rappers, Naira Marley and Tekashi 6ix9ine are victims of their own vanity

Both rappers are victims of their own hunger to feed the beast that is social media, and milk every popularity they get from it.

On one earth, on two planets, two rappers, rapping in different languages fed the beast of social media while their hands were dirty. Now, theyre paying with their freedom.
On April 20, 2019, Nigerian news circles swirled with the news that Nigerian singer, and heartthrob to Nigerian Generation Zers shook a bottle of coke and shattered what would have been his lunch.

If u know about slavery u go know say yahoo no b crime..
He attempted to justify internet fraud with slavery. He used a global subject of black pain as cheap validation for illegality. Inevitably, Twitter NG erupted and battered his ignorance with angry threads and vitriol.

He trended with consistency over the following days as he started social media and real life feuds with his fellow celebrities like Tunde Ednut, Ruggedman and Simi.

His opinions split Twitter, just like it split Nigerian celebrities like a frustration can split coconut. Ideals were questioned; on his actions, some blamed ignorance, some blamed clout-chasing and others blamed immaturity. Others even brazenly alleged Marley's involvement in crime, and questioned why he was in Nigeria, and not the UK.

Like that was not enough, he made a second video and defiantly cursed all those who disagreed with him with the confidence of Socrates. He then gleaned the inadequacies of the government and corruption as validation for internet fraud before he started a back-and-forth with Ruggedman that Davido attempted to settle but couldn't.

The culmination of this saw Naira Marley channel all the negative energy into a song, 'Am I A Yahoo Boy?' which has since been Nigeria's most-watched video on YouTube over the past two weeks with over one million views. The spotlight was on him, he was popping and trending.

He even planned to release another music video for another single, 'Opotoyi,' after the Ramadan fasting. Little did he know what was to happen…

Tekashi 6ix9ine
In faraway New York City, US, another rapper and serial hitmaker that became the toast of American radio around – late 2017 – the time Naira Marley started popping is Tekashi 6ix9ine.

This was after the 2015 incident where then 17-year-old 6ix9ine appeared to grope a then 13-year-old. Instead of facing a potential three-year prison sentence, he took a deal, and was ordered to take his GED, refrain from posting explicit content on social media and not commit an offence for two years.

6ix9ine went from obscurity to the spectacle of American pop culture. His maiden appearance on Power 105.1 radio show, The Breakfast Club became the most-watched video the show ever had – 6ix9ine also predicted this feat during the interview.

GUMMO [Prod. Pierre Bourne] by 6IX9INE
His single, 'Gummo' became a hit and it then launched his career. But as his music career soared, so did his appetite for controversy at a worse level than Naira Marley's. One most days between June 2018 to November 2018, the questions was 'What is 6ix9ine going to do?'

He stared feuds with ordinary and gangster rappers. He moved with Bloods and Crips like it was ordinary while confidently issuing a call to America to "test my gangster." He was a defiant machinery of recklessness and made the conversation about everything else but the music.

Even worse, he reveled in the attention and somewhere, he probably felt like the controversy drove his music. Maybe it did, but that strategy was never going to last long. The self-acclaimed hottest rapper in New York at the time was so preoccupied with vanity that his soaring career was suffering and he didn't even notice.

On a show, one of the many veteran rappers who warned 6ix9ine to calm down was Fat Joe. He lectured Tekashi of how American Law enforcement enjoyed making scapegoats of rappers but Tekashi did not listen. By this time, he was allegedly rolling with Nine Trey Gangsters, a violent sect of the Bloods street gang.

Even though he had allegedly cut ties with the sect by the time he got arrested, Federal Law Enforcement found enough evidence to make him complicit throughout the time he was involved with the sect.

Arrest and arraignment
Naira Marley was arrested alongside four others on Friday, May 10, 2019. While the other four were released after five days, Marley was charged to the Federal High Court on alleged credit card fraud. Earlier today, he was arraigned in court where he pled not guilty to all 11 counts of fraud.

His bail hearing was also adjourned till May 30, 2019.

On his part and upon his arrest, 6ix9ine was charged with federal RICO and firearms offences, including conspiracy to murder and armed robbery. He faces up to life in prison. His bail application was denied by the Judge who felt him a danger to the community.

On February 1, 2019, he pled guilty to nine charges and faces up to 47 years in prison. On February 16, a document revealed the possibility of 6ix9ine being released if he testifies against his gang members.

Brothers in clout-chasing
In both cases lies two young men basking in ignorance and the infectiousness of social media without understanding the power it wields. For both Naira Marley and Tekashi 6ix9ine, social media was their greatest tool and it was also the greatest loudspeaker for the infamy they both perpetrated.

While 6ix9ine's case is much greater, there are parallels in both cases that point to how both young men ruined themselves with the vanity and clout that only social media can provide. Even worse, they ignorantly kept at their respective actions while their hands were seemingly not clean and while Law enforcement could easily ties both of them to crimes.

On his path, 6ix9ine lost shows and endorsements. He fell from the very top of virality. On his part, Naira Marley seemed an endorsement inevitability before this madness. Now, no company that values its image in this woke world will touch him with a 100-foot pole, lest it risks a boycott.

The borderline is how clout-chasing and thirst for popularity and virality can wrongly impact you. Naira Marley expected his Instagram post that drew inference between slavery and internet fraud to blow up. I wager that it was a calculated effort to get him back into conversations.

That happened, and like 6ix9ine, he milked it. He created a storm from an harmless situation with singer, Simi. He kept having Instagram Live sessions and unrepentantly stuck to his guns and kept attacking his detractors.

For 6ix9ine, he probably felt he was bringing the 90's back to Hip-Hop. His video sets were shot up by goons, he was creating problems with gangsters in Houston, Texas. At one point, it became apparent that nobody could be that troublesome, and that he intentionally fed the beast of social media which came back to bite him.

In this age and era, publicity is good, but you cannot put excessive focus on publicity and clout over your career. It's good to not get too addicted to keep milking that avenue.

Even worse, they both underestimated the Law and its tendency to scapegoat. Their lives are now a cautionary tale on what to and what not to do.

Like that was not enough, a video of Naira Marley seemingly hanging with his friends has since surfaced on the internet. At a time when attention is on him, why he chose pointless defiance again, over a simple low profile is beyond everyone.

Even if the police gave him time to hang with friends and family, why did a footage have to end up on social media where he sent defiant subs to the EFCC?

In the end, this is a lesson on the perils on social media, clout-chasing and the addictive nature of it all. The fake adulation from like-minded people will only make clout-chasing worthwhile for a minute, it is not value.

People should learn from Tekashi 6ix9ine and Naira Marley.
