OAP Daddy Freeze mocks Akpororo after he did a free show due to low turn out Posted: 06 May 2019 01:00 AM PDT
Daddy Freeze who once had a fall-out with Akpororo over paying of 'tithes' has now reacted to the video. In his reaction, Freeze said, 'wasn't this the same comedian that insulted me and called me a wall gecko at the House of the Rock experience last December? Has his tithe stopped working for him or did he miss paying his tithe for a month? See the rest of his post below… Although he cursed me and said hurtful things about me, I have forgiven him and have nothing but love for him and wish he stopped paying or advertising this idolatrous tithe and worshiped God for who he really is in spirit and truth (John 4:24) Paying tithe is idolatry and harlotry, it's the worship of demons, the veneration of mammon and the hero worship of Satan who according to 2nd Corinthians 4:4, is the God of this world. Christ our high priest never collected tithes and neither did the disciples, who were our first bishops and GOs.
Ned Nwoko’s image consultant says ‘His other wives are not at war with Regina Daniels Posted: 06 May 2019 12:30 AM PDT
She told Sunday Scoop: "It is a big fat lie that the other wives of Ned Nwoko have ganged up against Regina Daniels. I'm not supposed to comment on this but I want to correct the false impression. That fake news is the handwork of enemies. There is none of Ned's wives that is at loggerheads with anybody. Whoever he is married to is too comfortable to complain. They have the choicest cars and whatever they want at their disposal. So, what do they have to complain about? The man (Nwoko) is a nice, kind and lovable person. He is a humanitarian and he loves humanity so much. Because of that, he goes out of his way to take care of many people. Coming to the issue of his wives, I believe he has the sole prerogative to do whatever he wants with his life. If he decides to marry 100 wives, it's his choice if he feels he can take care of them all. People should just allow the man to live and enjoy his private life. He is a very good person and does not deserve this kind of publicity." Onyeka also maintained that Daniels was not underage. She said, "What do people mean that she is underage? The girl is an international figure and has travelled overseas on her own. She is legally an adult and knows right from wrong. She has fully developed breasts and her hips are well formed. She is a well-mannered girl with good composure. So, which man wouldn't be attracted to someone like her? Age is nothing but a number and lots of people have married with wide age gaps. People such as Sade Okoya, Tina Turner and others married people whose ages were far different from theirs. If such people had married their age mates, their marriages may have crashed. It is pertinent to go after happiness wherever you find it." On whether the couple is legally married, Karifest Onyeka said: "If they married, it is only a matter of time before everybody knows." Pretty Mike calls out directors molesting video vixens Posted: 06 May 2019 12:00 AM PDT
He wrote on his Instagram page, Video vixens…These are the girls dominating the entertainment industry, most artist would not be able to produce a music video without one or two of them, these ladies are a vital part of the industry and this is why hundreds of them are popping out daily, different types of vixens, different shapes and sizes, this occupation is the most rampant on ig, as more girls are popping up on the gram with their bios as video vixen, models and actress, to be successful as a vixens in an industry of many, you must not only be on top of ur game, but must be ready to do whatever it takes, it's a constant competition and u can be replaced at anytime… Top vixens in the industry Are @thetaragold@sharonsmity @Valeriemia_@_tiwapearl @Telipsy@Nelly_a_posh @Dessy_coco@ayoteerocks @chisom_pursha@iam_lioness_simi @_emesomi Their work Ethics are exceptional and highly Commendable 🙌….But like we all know, there is a dark side in every industry,Video vixens most times aren't paid that well, most of their pay depends on the directors, artist n budget of the video. Top directors such as @Clarenceshotit @unlimitedla@Paul_Gambit over the years have been known to take advantage of these girls and they are also the top womanizers having the record of sleeping with the most vixens..Rumor has it that Top Director Clarences Peters recently had a threeSome with 2 popular video vixen besties, all in the name of more Exposure,More LeadRoles etc. @opeyemeee who is one of the Industry top Middle man has slept with almost every girl he has promoted or recommended for a job and uses this to promise them more jobs.. @omobonike_ another known handler also takes advantage of most of these vixens who can't successfully get a job on there own… with the amount of girls in the industry no wonder they all share the same men as @Queennerfatiti1and @princesshyngle posted recently also exposing the lifestyle of most of these girls..To maintain their luxurious lifes most of them recycle the same men of which I use to be a victim..This is the dilemma constantly faced in the industry, upcoming girls looks up to these ladies if only they knew what it really takes to get there☹️..#MayTheLordBlessAllOurHustle Last year, a lady accused the same popular Lagos socialite, Pretty Mike of raping her when she was younger. Speaking with Sunday Scoop, Pretty Mike said his rape story was different from the case of the video directors. He stated, "It was only a lady that accused me of sexually molesting her. If there were five or 10 ladies like in the case of the video directors, it would have been a different story. I didn't just hear from one lady; more than 10 people made such accusations. And there is no smoke without fire. In my life, only a lady accused me of rape." The nightclub owner said he was sure of all his allegations. He stated, "I am in the industry and a lot of these girls are my friends. I get to hear these accusations many times. If you look at the comments on social media, girls came out publicly to say they were victims, or their friends were victims." Describing Peters as gentle, hardworking, and the best in his field, Pretty Mike added, "It doesn't mean he doesn't have his flaws or that he doesn't take advantage of ladies. In this country, everyone finds a way of taking advantage of people." Meanwhile, in reaction to the allegations, Paul Gambit told Sunday Scoop that he was too busy to pay attention to irrelevant things. He stated, "I didn't see any accusation (Pretty Mike's post). I have been busy working and I don't have time for certain things." In This Story: #PrettyMike #directors #molesting #videovixens Sharing is caring. Share this story
Senator Ademola Adeleke’s son, B-Red says his father is very straightforward, doesn’t lie or cheat Posted: 05 May 2019 11:30 PM PDT
Tell us more about yourself. I am a singer and one of the children of Senator Ademola Adeleke. Is being a musician your dream as a child? I didn't think I would be a musician but a successful drummer. I still plan to introduce drums into my music. Did your father support your decision to do music? He wanted me to focus on my studies, not music. According to him, the dream of everyone is to make it in life. He didn't think there was a big prospect in music then, but I told him I knew what I was doing. When I finally ventured into music, he didn't talk to me for a year or so. He started having faith in my music when his friends and family members began to tell him how good I was. He is now my number one fan; he has been supportive of my music. I didn't feel bad when he didn't support my decision to do music. At times, one has to prove oneself before people believe in one. I feel that is how life is. Has your father listened to your new single, E Better, featuring Don Jazzy? Yes, he has listened to it. He has seen the video too. Let me share with you the message he sent to me. He said, "Son, this song is fantastic. It is great, nice one." I believe anything my father tells me because he cannot deceive me. Are you his only child who does music? My elder brother, Sina Rambo, does music too. Soon, he will release his new single, where he features Zlatan Ibile. How many siblings do you have? My father married more than one wife. From my mother, I have four siblings. But in total, I have nine siblings. I am the second child of my father. What does your mother do? My mother is based in the United States of America. She works there. How close are you to your father? We are very close. We talk almost every day regardless of how busy he is. What things get him angry? He doesn't like people who tell lies or cheat. He wants one to be straightforward with him and to always keep to one's word. Does he have a favourite food? My father likes food a lot. I cannot name one food as his favourite. He likes rice and stew a lot. He also likes African food such as pounded yam, eba and amala. I am like my father when it comes to food. I like different kinds of food as long as they taste good. How would you describe your father? He is a loving father. He didn't even know he would venture into politics. He cares about people a lot; that is why he takes his job as a senator seriously. He doesn't like seeing people suffering. I know he will make a great impact if he becomes the governor of Osun State. Are there plans to venture into politics like your father? Well, no one knows what tomorrow holds. One can never tell because my father didn't know he would go into politics too. Was there a time he spoke to you about joining politics? He has yet to do so but he knows Davido (David Adeleke) and me have a passion for politics. Are you aware that your father is nicknamed 'dancing senator'? I attended an event at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, and heard people called him the nickname. I knew he was called the name. When people started taking photos with him, calling him the 'dancing senator,' I saw that he was happy. How do you feel when your father is dancing? I am always smiling because people love him so much for that. Anywhere I go, people always ask about him. There is no love bigger than that. Did you feel bad when it was announced that your father lost the Osun State governorship election? I didn't feel bad because I knew we would get our 'stolen mandate' back. What do you share in common with your father? I am a younger version of my father. We have the same legs, face and head. Also, if my father shouts and I shout, it will be hard to tell the difference. How does he discipline his children? Funnily enough, while growing up, my father didn't use the cane on me. The least he could do was to drag my ears and he would warn me never to misbehave again. But it was different with my mother; she flogged me well. How does he reward his children whenever they impress him? When we were younger, he was always taking us to different exciting places around the world. Although I was born in the US, my father brought us back to Nigeria at some point to learn the culture. I am glad he took such a step because I am now happy we came to Nigeria. Is he the type who spoils his children? I am not sure he spoilt us as kids. But growing up, we had everything we wanted because my father doesn't take his children for granted. It was when we insisted we wanted to do music, our parents left us alone. When they saw that we were making progress, they supported us. I am talking about Sina, Davido and myself. How does your father relax? He likes travelling, watching movies and spending time with his family. What would you like to change about your father if given an opportunity to do so? There is nothing I will change about him. He is perfect the way he is and I admire his person. When was the last time you spoke to him? As I said earlier, we talk every day. The last time we spoke, we talked about my new single. He loves the video and he assured me that it would be a hit song. How do you want him to be remembered? I don't want to talk about this now because I still need him around. I know he is not dying anytime soon. How does he feel listening to his praise by Davido in Dami Duro? He was happy when he heard the song. He is always quick to tell people that Davido refers to his dancing skills in that song. Whenever they play the song, he still dances to it. Is it true that your dad father taught Davido, you and Sina how to dance? When he was younger in the US, he played the drums and he was a dancer too. He was called Jackson. That was why Davido sings about his dancing skills in Dami Duro. We obviously learnt from him. Also, my father bought me my first drum set. He taught me how to play conga. I am happy with the way my father dances. He has been dancing since the 1980s. But he is a man of extreme wisdom who knows how to conduct himself. For him, there is time to celebrate and there is time to work. Does your father's name open doors for you? Yes, it has opened doors many times; I don't need to lie about that. When one is from a rich family, it is normal for people to associate themselves with one. Of course, it gives one more connections and one can use the name to grow. Did you get special treatment from teachers as a son of Adeleke? I didn't escape punishment while I was in primary and secondary schools. My parents would tell my teachers that I was stubborn and that they should always keep an eye on me. They ensured that my teachers disciplined me well whenever I misbehaved. I was a good child but I could be stubborn sometimes. My elder brother used to beat me a lot; he would punch me for every little thing I did wrong. But he cannot try it again now; I will hit him back. Did you support his decision to venture into politics? I didn't want him to venture into politics. I told him I was scared because it was after my uncle, Isiaka Adeleke's death. He was picked to replace him. My uncle was a politician before he died. But he told me everything would be okay and everything has been okay so far. Did you know your father would go far when he wanted to contest the governorship election in Osun? I knew he would go far because he had faith in himself. Also, he is a likeable person and straightforward. What were the things you learnt during the governorship campaign? I learnt that if one wants anything in life, one has to work for it and ignore negative people. They said we didn't stand a chance because we were running against the incumbent. But we didn't focus on that. We were positive and we did the impossible thing. The case is still in court as you know. What are the things you have learnt from your father? I have learnt the need to be straightforward in life. One doesn't need to lie to people. Does he always want to know about your relationship? Yes, we always talk about it. He has told my brother and me to hurry up, as he is ready to have grandchildren. How can one win your father's heart? One only needs to be oneself to make him laugh. He is jovial and easy-going. How do you describe his fashion style? You know he is into politics; he likes native wears. But on his free days, he dresses casually. What advice does your father give you? He always tells me that before I do something, I should be sure I want to do it. He says that once I do that thing, I cannot undo it. Are you excited about the prospect of being a governor's son? I am excited for the people of Osun State because I know what my father is capable of. We don't plan to go into government to steal money, as we are already wealthy. What do you plan to achieve as a musician? I am not just interested in being the best musician or making money. I want to inspire people with my music. While I am passionate about music, making money is also vital. Regardless of how rich one is, one still wants to make more money. If Aliko Dangote and Femi Otedola still work hard every day for money, who am I to slow down? When I first started, people didn't like my style. They would say I was trying too hard to be like Davido. But it is a different story now for me – people have accepted my music more.
Joke Silva – People who help sick actors shouldn’t humiliate them by publicising it Posted: 05 May 2019 11:00 PM PDT
But popular actress, Joke Silva, says she prays every day that she wouldn't need to seek help from the public because of the humiliation other veterans have suffered. Speaking with Sunday Scoop, Silva said she didn't understand why an individual would help an ailing actor and publicise the act in the newspapers. She stated, "I appreciate the work and sacrifices of Baba Suwe and other ailing veterans. They have done what they enjoyed doing but they did it at the expense of their lives. I feel they are entitled to support from the public because they have given too much to society. But I don't think it is right for you to tell the world that you helped someone. If I come to you for help, I should not see it on the pages of newspapers. Why would you assist me and use it to give yourself some leverage? Why put me in a humiliating position?" The actress, who recently became a grandmother, stated that it was now necessary for all actors to start thinking of their future. Silva added, "I don't think there is anyone in the industry that is not aware of the likelihood of getting broke and this has made us lose good actors in Nollywood. Some people left acting when they saw that it was no longer self-sufficient. She also said she was happy for her son who recently became a father. The actress said, "I feel excited and grateful to God for my son. (And) we didn't spend N20million on his wedding last year. You know people can say whatever they like. For me to spend such amount of money for a wedding, it would mean I have plenty. In This Story: #JokeSilva #sick #actors #publicity Sharing is caring. Share this story
Jim Iyke weeps as he parts with his new baby Posted: 05 May 2019 10:30 PM PDT Nigerian actor and entrepreneur Jim Iyke, who just welcomed a new baby, has written on how emotional he got when he was about parting with the baby and his mother at the airport. The actor who apparently was on his way to Paris, as deduced from his post, mentioned that though it was hard to let go, he had to get back to business and will be back in few months. He then chipped in that he would surely cry for some moments, while enmeshed in the thought of the love he has for his family. "A man is not supposed to cry. I believe it principally. Kids know with a certain primordial instinct beyond logic when there's a parting. My guy started bawling for no apparent reason. I gave him a warm bottle at the airport, kissed him and his mama and walked away abruptly. I'm gon hold myself together till I'm in the comfort of my seat then I'll cry quietly for 20 mins. I hv my oversized shades to obscure suspicions, no worries…..Then I'll order a stiff gin and tonic and mentally calm down as I've trained myself to do. See u in a couple of months my guy. Apparently, Papa is not as strong as he deemed this particular principle. Love is stronger. Back to work. Back to my regiment to get rid of the daddy weight … Wish me safe flight guys. God bless." Posted: 05 May 2019 09:20 AM PDT House of Representatives member-elect for the Akoko North-East/North-West Federal Constituency in Ondo State, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, is also the Chairman of the First-Time Members, Forum of the Ninth National Assembly. He speaks with SUNDAY ABORISADE about the leadership tussle ahead of the incoming parliament What led to the formation of the Forum of First-Time Members-Elect and what is your population? ADVERTISING I will start with the second part of the question. For the All Progressives Congress and our allied members, we are now 203. We came up with the idea of coming together as a bloc in order to ensure that national interest is protected when discussing issues in the House of Representatives. We are not comfortable with so many things that happened in the 8th National Assembly. We are not saying that they have not done well but we believe that the Ninth National Assembly should be able to do better. We also came together as a forum to ensure that the right leadership is put in place. We want the leadership that would meet the aspirations of the people and the hierarchy of the All Progressives Congress which has the majority seats in the House. Is it fair that the South-West, which produced the Vice-President, to still be jostling to produce the Speaker of the House of Representatives when other regions have nothing? Politics in Nigeria has always been played based on the North and South considerations. Geopolitical zones like the North-Central, North-East and the North-West are part of the northern region while the South-East, South-West and the South-South are part of southern Nigeria. There are two key presiding officers' positions in the National Assembly. The first is the Chairman of the National Assembly, who is also the President of the Senate. That position has been zoned to the North. Naturally, the Vice-Chairman, who is also the Speaker of the House of Representatives, has to go to the South for equity, justice and fairness. Having zoned the position of the Speaker to the South, I think the party looked at its strength in the three geopolitical zones there. The APC has four members in the South-East, nine in the South-South, but we have 50 in the South-West. The party, after a thorough job, settled for the region with the highest number of elected members in the South to produce the Speaker. Now that the party has agreed that the South-West should produce the Speaker, the leaders then considered the issue of ranking, competence and reward for loyalty. That was why Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila was picked for the top job. I don't think anybody with a pure heart should go against the decision of the party. What assurance do you have that all newly elected APC members in the Ninth House of Representatives are happy with the Speaker coming from the South-West? We have been engaging our colleagues across the geopolitical zones in discussions. Politics is about dialogue and negotiations. We have been doing this and the results have been very fruitful. By the grace of God, we have the support of our members from other geopolitical zones. Everybody is tired of the executive-legislative fight and we want our country to move forward in peace. Patriotic Nigerians from all divides will not hesitate to support the project that would take Nigeria to the next level. Many Nigerians argue that micro-zoning the presiding officers positions to individuals is nothing but imposition. How do you view this? There is nothing new in what the APC is trying to do. This is the way it is being done all over the world. We have to separate the party from the executive. All legislators are members of the party; members of the executive arm of government are also members of the party. Nigerians voted for the party not for any individual. There is nothing wrong in the leadership of the party, coming together to look at the credentials of its qualified members in the legislature and come up with the best candidates that would help it to actualise its manifesto with relevant legislations in the National Assembly. If the Speaker performs well, it is to the advantage of the party. In any democracy, the party is stronger than the government because the head of government is meant to implement the policies and manifesto of the party. In this case, the party is trying to put its house in order so that it will be able to come up with great policies and programmes that would be beneficial to Nigerians. We don't want to give excuses for our inability to get certain things right. That is why we want to address any form of hindrance right from the legislature. I don't think that any member-elect has been able to surpass or equal the performances of Gbajabiamila since he got elected into the federal parliament. What he also has working for him is that he is loved by all members of the House across party lines and geopolitical zones. Many anti-Gbajabiamila lawmakers-elect alleged that Asiwaju Bola Tinubu wants him as the Speaker to boost his presidential ambition come 2023. What is your reaction? I cannot speak for our National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. But the question I will ask those saying that is, has Asiwaju come out in any medium to declare his presidential ambition? Let the time come. Why is your camp actually scared of a secret ballot method to elect presiding officers of the National Assembly? Our camp is not against secret ballot. What we are simply telling Nigerians is that the electorate deserves to know how their members vote. As an elected member of the House, I am not representing myself but a federal constituency. I think we have to bring the issue of secrecy in the election of principal officers of the National Assembly to an end. Why should the nation spend fortunes to mount electronic voting devices in the chambers when we will not make use of them? We need to really open the National Assembly to Nigerians. Nigerians must know how the representatives voted on all issues including motions, bills and election of the presiding officers. That is the essence of representation. That is democracy. If you take the people out of democracy, then there is no democracy. The current rules of the House provide for open (electronic) voting and secret (ballot) methods. We are saying that electronic voting is better because it is faster and transparent. Some Nigerians are saying that you are probably scared that many of those that the party coerced to support Gbajabiamila would vote against the party's choice, hence your insistence on open ballot. How true is this? With due respect, I take exception to the word 'coerce' that you use here. There is no act of coercion. The party did not coerce anybody. This is a family affair. We have our ways of resolving issues. The National Chairman of our party is a former union leader. Crisis resolution and management is a core part of his act of competence. We have mechanisms to sort our issues as a party. We will go into the election as a united front. We are not demanding open voting out of fear. We have nothing to fear because we know that we are in the majority. We are only promoting accountability because our people must know who we vote for. What will your group do if the National Assembly management decides to conduct an open-secret poll just like it did in 2015? We will win by the grace of God, regardless of the voting method adopted. We know that the National Assembly management is sensitive to the yearnings of the majority. I want to believe that the management, led by the Clerk, will not do anything that will jeopardise the interest of Nigerians because they deserve to know and should be informed about the position of their representatives on all issues in the House, starting with the election. I trust the integrity of the management of the National Assembly to listen to the yearnings of the majority of the members-elect, who are the major actors. If we say this is the method we want, I see no reason why the management will go against our position. I am very optimistic that the management will do the needful. APC national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, said your party does not need the support of the PDP to elect presiding officers of the Ninth National Assembly or to even run the parliament. Do you agree with him? It is true that the APC has the majority in the House but I think we have to carry everybody along. By the grace of God, we are looking forward to having the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Nigeria. We will not only carry the PDP members along, but also members of other political parties who are in the minority in the House. We need everybody on board. We need to put our differences aside and work for this country. Don't you think that the independence of the federal parliament will be compromised with the emergence of the anointed candidates of the APC/Presidency as presiding officers? We cannot talk of the independence of an arm of government. We can also talk of democracy without the interdependence of the arms of government. I don't think the independence of the legislature would be compromised if the party candidates emerge as presiding officers. It depends on the character of the person that is being elected. Gbajabiamila has the interest of Nigeria at heart. He is ready to work with the executive. He is not ready to fight with the executive. At the same time, we are not ready to be rubber stamp. We need to put our foot on the ground on many issues, for the benefit of Nigerians. It was the same speaker (Aminu Masari) who was supported by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that also ruled against the plan to seek a third term in office for the (former) president. That the president is supporting excellence, integrity, track records, and performance does not mean that he is expecting a rubber stamp legislature. President (Muhammadu) Buhari believes in dialogue, negotiations and separation of powers. At the same time, we don't need to be antagonistic to be independent as a legislature. We can work with the executive effectively without compromising our independence and Gbajabiamila is well equipped to do that efficiently. Nigerians are interested in better life, not an executive-legislative rift that would bring nothing to their tables. Burden of life pensions for political office holders on wobbling economy Posted: 05 May 2019 08:55 AM PDT In this report, KAMARUDEEN OGUNDELE looks at the impact of the severance packages and life pensions for President, Vice President, governors as well as their deputies on the economy and the bill of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly to include the state lawmakers among the beneficiaries of this scheme The breaking of the day of Thursday, April 25, harboured another novel development for Nigerians. The news was that the Bayelsa State House of Assembly had passed a bill that would enable each member, past and serving, to receive monthly life pensions from the coffers of the state government. Members reportedly agreed and approved N500,000 post service monthly pension to the Speakers of the assembly, while Deputy Speakers would receive N200,000 and members would get N100,000 each. The bill provides that former lawmakers, including persons of Bayelsa origin, who served in the old Rivers State, would enjoy life pensions for their services in the state as applicable to former presidents, vice-presidents, governors and deputy governors across the country. Although Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, has declined assent to the bill, the fever has spread to Ekiti State as the legislators in the State House of Assembly have started working on the bill to be presented to Governor Kayode Fayemi for their proposed life pension. Since the bill became public knowledge, there has been a huge public outcry against it considering the trying period the economy of the country is facing. The news of the bill brings into focus again the monthly life pension enjoyed by governors and their deputies after leaving the office. In Lagos and a few other states for example, a two-term governor is entitled to two houses with one in the state capital and the other in Abuja among other perks of office. Many people saw the agitation for monthly life pension at this trying period of the country as a betrayal of trust when pensions and salaries are owed millions of workers, who have served the nation or their states for decades. Many Nigerians have also condemned the move, describing it as insensitive and also called for the abolishment of the laws wherever they exist. Speaking with our correspondent, a former National Publicity Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Alhaji Muritala Abdur-Rasheed, said the pension law was selfish and should be abolished. The legal practitioner stated, "It is a selfish law on the part of political actors. Politicians cannot be siphoning Nigeria's money through some selfish laws. At this time that the economy is in a parlous state, such laws should be repealed where they exist. We can't be using our commonwealth to service few individuals. "They can get severance allowance but pension for life should be rejected. Serving Nigeria for eight years and demanding a life pension is highly insensitive to the plight of Nigerians. The money should be channeled to other developmental projects that will benefit the people." Also, in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Festus Keyamo, said calling for life pension for more political office holders would be adding to the burden on the nation's economy. "The economy cannot accommodate such luxury now; it will have a negative effect on the economy. Many states are still battling with developmental projects and struggling to find their feet. Many states have not been able to provide basic infrastructure. It is an annoying luxury and unnecessary. It will put pressure on the economy of the country. It is not acceptable at all. "I support severance package but not pension for life. Where such law exists, it is left to the people of the state to take their destiny in their own hands and rise in massive protest against those governors. Any political party that promises to sustain that should be rejected at the poll. He said, "It is most irresponsible and provocative. It is provocative if you consider what the masses are going through in this country and what they have gone through and the fact that we are not yet out of the woods. At a time that we are struggling to stabilise the economy after a costly recession; when we are still struggling to put the country back on the right track after many years of maladministration of the past regimes, and somebody will wake up one morning to think about such proposal." The Director-General of National Intervention Movement, Olawale Okunniyi, said paying politicians pension after leaving the office is immoral. He added, "In a clime that is corruption-free, it would have been suitable or morally justifiable. But in our clime, it is like adding salt to injury because governance in Nigeria is corruption pedestal. This is a government in which the Constitution has made it possible for corruption to thrive despite the anti-corruption crusade. "While people are in office, they have made humongous money out of the economy and sustaining governance would have run down the economy. It will be very immoral and wrong to tax the people twice for corruption and to service corrupt public officers out of office." "If you talk about Britain now, yes! But in Nigeria the man (politician) has already taken 70 per cent of the treasury either through service or corruption. So, what is the basis (monthly life pension)? The best thing is to restructure our public service so that people can really be public servants and take part-time allowance. But the Majority Leader of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Mr. Gboyega Aribisogan, who spoke with our correspondent from Johannesburg, South-Africa, supported the action of his colleagues. He said, "If the Bayelsa State House of Assembly has gone ahead to do that based on what they think should be the entitlement of the Speaker, Deputy Speaker and other members of the Assembly, I don't think it is right to start whipping sentiment about the state of the economy when the governor and his deputy are entitled to pension under the same economy, and even the chief judge. "The problem is that people don't really see legislature as an arm of the government that should benefit from the largesse of the state and tend to treat lawmakers with contempt. When the governor and his deputy receive pension, why should the speaker, his deputy and other lawmakers, duly elected, not receive the same?" "There is no time that change cannot take place. If the assembly considers the matter important at this time, there is nothing wrong because they are not going to be the only beneficiaries. In the next few weeks, the Assembly will pack up and new members will come in and they would be beneficiaries of the law." The immediate past Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Kolapo Olusola, also agreed with the severance allowance for public office holders. He, however, disagreed with the life monthly pension, saying it would add to the burden of the nation. He said, "Severance allowance is in order because heads of institution are also entitled to that at the end of their tenure. When you look at the tasks and sacrifices attached to the positions like leaving your private life, resigning as directors in companies and other factors, then, you will agree that severance allowance is suitable. "But I defer from life monthly pension for governors and deputies. We have to look at it vis-Ã -vis the requirement in the civil service. I don't think it is worth it for somebody to get life monthly pension because he has served as governor or deputy for four or eight years. I believe before somebody could come in as governor or deputy, he should be working somewhere and earning income. He shouldn't be a jobless person. "After serving the people, the person should go back to his job or other job. I don't think being in politics means you shouldn't have a job; you can be in politics and still be doing business. What I think they should get is periodic remuneration like changing their car for them after every four years or things fitting of their former statuses but not equivalent of monthly pension." In his contribution, Senator Ayo Arise, who represented Ekiti North Senatorial District between 2007 and 2011, believed that the perception in the country that if you want to get rich quickly, join politics, was fast defining our lives. "The elite are now mostly politicians; they are the ones making the laws and it will always be in their favour. I read in the newspaper that the National Assembly approved a humongous amount of money for settlement of severance allowance and pension. I don't know where the money to pay that will come from. "What can take the burden off the economy is Contributory Pension Scheme based on the years spent in office which would not be a huge amount. As soon as the beneficiary exhaust his money, that ends it. There should be nothing like life monthly pension for the limited years spent in office and putting the burden on the nation. "When I left the Senate, I returned my vehicle and after some charges were made, my severance allowance was just about N6m. What the executive and legislature should be entitled to as pension is what each person has contributed over a work life experience and not because you have become a President, governor, deputy or legislator. The Speaker of the Bayesla State House of Assembly, Kombowei Benson, declined to answer calls placed to his telephone by SUNDAY PUNCH to comment on the matter. He had also yet to respond to text messages sent to him as of the time of filing this report. A former Spokesperson of the House of Representatives, Eseme Eyiboh, who represented Eket/Esit/Ibeno/Onna Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State between 2007 and 2011, said the trend to place lawmakers on life pensions was a product of poor leadership recruitment process where governors want to go to the Senate after leaving the office. He said, "In some cases, workers salaries and pension have not been paid and some set of people want to be taking life pension. After denying people the benefits of democracy and fleecing them, you still want to continue to feed fat on the nation. Because of stiffing of fund to local governments, primary health care has collapsed, public schools are no longer good which has resulted in private schools everywhere and these people still want to maintain their grip on the economy. "It is insensitive and outright conspiracy against the people, a breach of the tenets of democracy and violation of the constitutionalism that underpin the primary reason of governance as being the welfare and security of the people." Ondo: Akeredolu and APC’s festering crisis Posted: 05 May 2019 08:44 AM PDT There is fear that except the national leadership of All Progressives Congress moves fast to resolve the festering crisis within its Ondo State chapter, the party may be threatened in future elections, reports Assistant Editor, 'Dare Odufowokan The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State has deepened as stakeholders within the ruling party continue to haul brickbats at one another over the reported querying and suspension of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC over allegations of anti-party activities during the last general elections in the state. According to party sources who spoke to The Nation on the raging crisis on condition of anonymity, Akeredolu is being accused of using state and party machineries to support the aspirations of some National Assembly candidates who contested the February National Assembly Elections on the platform of the Action Alliance (AA) in some parts of the state. The Nation gathered that the reported suspension of the governor is not unconnected with the hordes of petitions received from numerous chieftains of the party in the state accusing Akeredolu of dumping the APC candidates in the affected areas and supporting the AA candidates as part of his camp's protest against the alleged imposition of some National Assembly candidates by the national leadership of the party contrary to the desires of the governor. Trouble started between the governor and the Adams Oshiomhole-led NWC when the party decided to give automatic tickets to the three senators in the state to seek re-elections on its platform. Akeredolu, who had been at loggerheads with one of the beneficiaries, Senator Ajayi Borrofice, protested and insisted that primary elections be held, to determine who the APC candidates should be in the elections in the state. Suspended, unaware After the general elections, the NWC of the APC reportedly communicated Akeredolu's suspension to him following a query earlier issued him by the national leadership of the ruling party, urging him to defend allegations of anti-party activities levelled against him by some prominent members of the party across the state. Party sources told The Nation that scores of petitions were received by the NWC from members of the APC in the state on the matter. Reports claim the governor was told in clear terms that he will remain on suspension from the party for engaging in anti-party activities until a decision is taken on whether to expel him from the ruling party or have him punished in other ways as allowed by the constitution of the party. While the party is yet to make an official statement confirming the reports, it has also failed to issue a statement debunking the reports. Early last month, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Lanre Isa-Onilu, after the meeting presided over by Oshiomhole, the APC announced that Akeredolu's anti-party activities "greatly affected the fortunes of its candidates in the recently conducted Presidential and National Assembly elections in the state." Isa-Onilu, while speaking to reporters, also confirmed that a query had been sent to Akeredolu based on the directive of the NWC. "Yes, it has been done. The query has been sent to him according to the NWC's resolution," he said while adding that he couldn't tell whether the governor had responded to the query at the time or not. "It is not to my knowledge whether he has replied the query. You know that it is not my department that handles that particular assignment. I am not the one to receive his reply if he has done so. But I know that a query has been dispatched to him," he said. However, Segun Ajiboye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, while insisting that reports of the suspension are untrue, said his boss has yet to receive any query from the party's National Working Committee. "As far as we are concerned, it is a rumour. The governor did not receive any query. The matter itself is an internal affair of the party which will be handled by the party." Meanwhile, checks at the secretariat of the party revealed that the APC's NWC may have on the first day of March, take the decision to issue a query to the governor following its conclusion that Akeredolu has some explanations to make over some of his activities during the last general elections in the state as alleged in some of the petitions received by the party against him. Unending spats Recently, Otito Atikase, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Akeredolu on Political Affair's, re-ignited the face-off in the embattled state chapter of the APC when he accused the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, and the National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, of being behind the travails of the governor in the party. According to him, some forces are bent on working against Akeredolu at all cost. "Akeredolu is a principled man who does not play politics with anything goes. "He will not allow anything that is not right to be done. Tinubu and Oshiomhole should not rule the party for their expansionist and narrow agenda. All I can see is the aftermath of the defeat Tinubu suffered when he sponsored Alliance for Democracy, AD, against Akeredolu in 2016. What disciplinary action did the party put in place? Oshiomhole, on the other hand, wanted his candidate to be picked after him in Edo but Akeredolu supported the man on the seat-Obaseki. Adams was very angry, so he became Chairman of the party to witch-hunt our governor. All I know is that Ondo people will determine who governs them. The God who brought Akeredolu to governance is not dead but reigns supreme over them," Atikase said. But Bola Ilori, a chieftain of the party, accused Governor Akeredolu, of being the "spanner in the cog of a wheel" of peace in the party. The former Commissioner for Regional Integration in Osun State said Akeredolu's vengefulness and uncooperative attitude are the root causes of the lingering disunity and disharmony within the state chapter of the APC. "It was well reported on national headlines that Akeredolu organised an attack on me at the venue of an official government assignment in Akure. We were to go to court, but some elders of the party, led by Chief Bisi Akande, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Chief Pius Akinyelure and others, intervened. They appealed to all aggrieved against the gubernatorial election processes to drop all further agitation and return to the party and embrace unity. "I also wish to place on the record that, as the Director General of the Alliance for Democracy campaigns in 2016, I don't have any record of funding received from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola or Senator Ajayi Boroffice for the AD. I dare Akeredolu and his team to come up with such a fact. Let it be noted that neither Asiwaju Tinubu nor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola directed us to the AD nor funded the party. "They did not campaign for the party to the best of my record, also. If any of Akeredolu minions is in possession of substantive evidence against any of our leaders let such fellow come forward with it or forever keep their peace. We, as adults have rights to our independent actions and Asiwaju never encourages sycophancy, he promotes robust intellectual discuss and don't see dissent as a crime, yet we voluntarily hold him in high esteem," Ilori countered. Fresh trouble Sadly, efforts to resolve the differences among the chieftains of the party appear not to be yielding fruits. Instead, a fresh face-off recently erupted between the camps of Governor Akeredolu and Senator Borrofice over a petition filed against the victory of the Senator at the National Assembly Election last February. As we speak, some aggrieved members of the party have ruled out a reconciliation with the governor, accusing him of still working against the party. Specifically, Boroffice recently accused Akeredolu of instigating a petition against him at the election tribunal. In a statement by his Press Secretary, Kayode Fakuyi, the Senator claimed the governor's loyalist, Dr Tunji Abayomi, sponsored a petition against him at the Election Petition Tribunal as the candidate of the APC, in the last election in the state. He also insisted that Akeredolu was in the know of the said petition. The statement was in response to an earlier claim by one of the governor's aides that Akeredolu intervened on behalf of the APC and Boroffice by asking the Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN), to withdraw the petition it submitted to the tribunal over the absence of its logo on the ballot paper. The petition was subsequently withdrawn to save Borrofice's mandate. But Fakuyi said: "The Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN) did not actually file a petition against INEC and Boroffice. It was the senatorial candidate of Action Alliance (AA) for Ondo North, Mr Tunji Abayomi, who sponsored the case on behalf of MPN without the authorisation of the national leadership of MPN. "Instructively, Mr Tunji Abayomi of the Action Alliance could not have sponsored the case without the support and nod of his political leader, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu. From the above-stated facts, it is clear Governor Rotimi Akeredolu did not play any such role like the role of arbiter in the resolution of the MPN to discontinue a case that was initiated and instituted on its behalf without its authorisation." Still a divided House As part of the effort to resolve the crisis before the last general election, a Peace and Reconciliation Committee was inaugurated by the party in January. Speaking during the inauguration of the 15 man committee, Adetimehin had said the committee was put in place to resolve all the crises within the party ahead of the election. He also charged the committee to draw from their political experience to ensure that every aggrieved member of the party is pacified. "You have been carefully selected. I charge you to represent the party well and justify the confidence reposed in you. You are not going to judge anyone but write and submit a report to us based on what you meet on the field," he said back then. He urged the committee, which was decentralised into senatorial zones, to submit its report to the state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, within the next week. But it appears nothing good came out of the assignment of the peace committee. Currently, a number of other leading figures of the APC in Ondo State, including the former chairman of the party, Isaac Kekemeke, a former Deputy Governor, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, as well as a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Bamidele Baderinwa, are currently at loggerheads with the governor and his people. Reliable party sources said most of the aggrieved members are not ready for the reconciliation. When contacted, the Chairman of the party in the state, Chief Ade Adetimehin, said stories of crises and disagreements in the party are being sponsored by enemies of the party. According to him, before, during and after the elections, the party was and remained united. "I want to tell you that there is no crisis in our party. We remain one and that is why we are doing great in the state. The APC in Ondo State is moving forward and we have no problem." But a group within the state chapter of the party disagrees with Adetimehin. According to the Mandate Group, the crisis currently troubling the APC in Ondo State is capable of affecting the chances of the party in the forthcoming gubernatorial election and as such, should promptly be looked into by the national leadership of the ruling party. The group also wants the state leadership of the party sacked. The group, which has been complaining that Governor Akeredolu was working against the interest of the party said Akeredolu and the state party chairman actually worked for the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar in the election, attributing the PDP victory in the state to the anti-party activities carried out by the governor. Addressing newsmen at the APC national secretariat, the group's Publicity Secretary, Comrade Olugbenga Bojuwomi, said they have evidence that Akeredolu did not vote for President Muhammadu Buhari and all APC candidates in Feb. 23 Presidential and National Assembly Elections. The aggrieved party members also blamed the governor and the leadership of the party in the state for the disunity within the party in the state. Man in the arena: Senator Ovie Omo-Agege Posted: 05 May 2019 08:37 AM PDT THAT Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, the Urhobo first-term senator who spearheaded the opposition to the Bill re-ordering the sequence of elections that was targeted at President Muhammadu Buhari is running for Deputy Senate President is no longer news. What many do not know is that this suave legal practitioner has many caps to his name. One of the most recognisable names in Nigerian politics, Omo-Agege, is a darling of core supporters of the President for his principled stand against Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki's efforts to use the Senate as a platform to discredit the Executive branch of government with the sole aim of stopping the President's reelection. And for this, he suffered persecution which culminated in his unlawful suspension for 90 legislative days. The courts later nullified the suspension 26 days after it was imposed for being unconstitutional and in violation of Senate rule order. But that was not the end of the battle. Some members, who felt he stopped them from baying for the blood of the President and the ruling All Progressives Congress, still have their daggers drawn, waiting for the moment to strike. The import of this, Omo-Agege said, is not lost on him. Throughout the course of his first term, Omo-Agege demonstrated the ability and willingness to give selfless service to the APC Senate Caucus. His record of leadership in the Caucus has, no doubt, prepared him well for the office of the Deputy Senate President. He is broadly respected in the Senate and beyond for his huge intellectual and political savvy, uncompromising sense of justice, uncommon courage and steely grit in defence of rule of law and justice. As one who suffered persecution in the Senate because of his principled stand against the leadership of some persons, Omo-Agege believes that all senators are equal and that the 9th Senate will usher in a new era "where the common good of Nigerians, true friendship and mutual respect" for each other's opinions and respect for the truth would be the guiding compass of the business of the next Senate. Announcing his bid for the coveted position in a letter to senators-elect, Omo-Agege said: "If elected Deputy Senate President of the 9th Senate, I will work with courage to change how this Senate operates." He explained that he joined the race "on the clear understanding that the position has been zoned to the South-south geopolitical zone by the All Progressives Congress, APC". Since 1999, the South-south geopolitical zone has not produced the Senate President, the Deputy Senate President or the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives and for a party that wants to make great inroads into the zone that lays the golden eggs that sustains the Nigeria economy, zoning the DSP position to the zone would be a welcome development. And Omo-Agege would be a perfect fit. In all fairness, Omo-Agege deserves to be Deputy Senate President for his principled stand against impunity in the 8th Senate. His high-profile personality and track record of standing up for what he believes in and demonstrated loyalty to the party fits well with APC that wants to enforce party discipline. Senator Ovie Omo-Agege's vision, steadfastness along with an uncompromising commitment to the ruling All Progressives Congress' populist ideas are at the core of his ambition to become Deputy Senate President in the Senate of the 9th National Assembly. "Our victory in February was a powerful message from the Nigerian people that the legislative arm of government should work harmoniously with the executive in a unified government. Our mandate, therefore, is to co-operate with President Muhammadu Buhari to fulfil the promises we made to the Nigerian people, to stand for rule of law and the constitution, to tackle insecurity, fight corruption and grow the economy," he said, adding that "The Senate will serve the people better when we work faithfully as co-equals in the discharge of our constitutional duties of oversight without antagonising the executive while maintaining our independence." Against all odds, he made history to become the first senator from Delta Central to win re-election. One reason Omo-Agege was able to vanquish the vast conspiracy against him is skilled retail politicking and his suaveness at tailoring the national position to the local politics. For Omo-Agege who believes all politics is local, he never abandoned his responsibilities to his constituency. Not only has he executed all his constituency projects which he was able to account for during the campaign, but he also attracted federal government funded projects to his constituency. The multi-billion naira dualization of Sapele -Ewu Road, Section 1 and 2 in Delta and Edo states is one of such projects. It takes many things to make a good leadership experience, academic qualification, focus, foresight, intelligence, true grit and many more and these, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, a lawyer of some 33 years' standing, has in his belt. "The pessimist complains about the wind, the optimist expects it to change, the leader· adjusts the sails," John Maxwell once said. Coincidentally, this partly explains away the mystery and staying power of the Senator and his consistently innovative ways of attuning his vision of a better society to the needs of the people he serves. Justifying a conviction about the need to serve and make life better for others is better done through impactful deeds. This Omo-Agege has been doing through philanthropy much of which gets done through quiet, purposeful giving through the Ovie Omo-Agege Foundation which recently paid up counterpart funding that facilitated Federal Government agriculture loans for 1,000 youths in his senatorial district. Born on August 3, 1963, into the famous Omo-Agege Family of Orogun in Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State, Senator Omo-Agege is the son of the erudite and incorruptible Nigerian jurist, Justice James Omo-Agege and Ms Francesca Okwendo of the Wanogho Royal Family, also of Orogun. A trained lawyer with practice experience in both Nigeria and the United States of America, Omo-Agege served as Executive Assistant to the then Governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori in 2003, Commissioner for Special Duties in 2005 and the Secretary to State Government (SSG) of Delta State in 2007. Upon his exit from government in 2007, Omo-Agege became the Chairman/CEO of Tech springs Limited, a dredging and oil services company based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He held this position until he was elected to the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2015 as the Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District. He won re-election in the 2019 general election to become the first senator to win re-election in Delta Central Senatorial District. Self-effacing in his charitable activities, he explains it as a mere continuation of his longstanding commitment to populist principles. "If your actions inspire· others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader," one of United States' great past Presidents had said. This Omo-Agege has brought to life through positive deeds and worthy causes. Indeed, his imprints in the academic and entrepreneurial lives of his people, especially youths are better told by the people. To him, "I am just but God's channel of hope to the wary in spirit to whom we owe our conscience and the Almighty God a duty to do our all to help whenever we can without discrimination." In less than four years of being in the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege successfully introduced and got his colleagues' support for the Bill establishing the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun as a specialized university. Similar success attended his effort on a Bill to Prohibit Sexual Harassment in Tertiary Institutions, a Bill to Amend the Electoral Act, 2010. He sponsored several other Bills, including; a Bill to Establish a National Electoral Offences Commission; a Bill to Establish the Dormant Accounts Fund and centrally Manage all Dormant Bank Accounts/Assets in Nigeria; a Bill to Amend the Court of Appeal Act; a Bill to Amend the National Industrial Court Act; and a Bill to Amend the Companies and Allied Matters Act and Establish State Corporate Affairs Commission. In the fortunate actualisation of his people's cherished hope, the Bill establishing the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, was eventually signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari. In recognition of his selfless service to humanity and his people, Senator Omo-Agege has been conferred with numerous traditional titles, including the Obarisi of Ughelli, Obarisi of Orogun, Obarisi of Effurun-Otor, and Uvo of Mosogar. A confirmed Catholic, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, is happily married to Barrister (Mrs.) Rosemary Omo-Agege and together, they have five children. In his letter of a declaration addressed to all newly-elected Senators, Senator Omo-Agege stressed his commitment to the APC's pro-people ideals and the vision of collective efforts towards impacting more positively on the lives of all Nigerians. "With a larger progressive majority, the Senate can be a partner of the executive and speedily move our country to the Next Level and deliver for the people. I want to help in moving our country in this direction and shape visionary policies that will improve a lot of the Nigerian people we have the honour to represent. It is my goal to restore the goodness of the Nigerian government and apply it fairly and equitably to all Nigerians irrespective of where they come from, the God they serve and the political party they belong. "With this goal in mind and the outpouring of support from colleagues in the days after the election who have urged me to seek a leadership position in the Senate, I am declaring my candidacy for Deputy Senate President and asking for your support and vote. "There is no doubt that our nation faces huge problems of insecurity, unemployment, infrastructural deficit and corruption. The men and women of the 9th Senate are up to this challenge provided we remain committed to working for the good of the Nigerian people. For now, many who have followed the trajectory of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege's progress on the political front are waiting to see this being actualised in the nation's best interest.

Ekpenyong to Akpabio: stop intimidating election tribunal Posted: 05 May 2019 08:30 AM PDT Senator-elect for Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District (Akwa Ibom North-West), Dr. Chris Ekpenyong, has told Senator Godswill Akpabio to allow members of the election tribunal do their work. According to Ekpenyong, Akpabio has been intimidating and blackmailing the duly constituted election tribunal currently handling the Akwa Ibom North West senatorial petition matter. The tribunal sits in Uyo, the state capital. The senator-elect, who demanded that Akpabio should be charged for contempt, said in an interview over the weekend that, "for continuing to stampede the tribunal with a view to forcing it to change the course of justice". Ekpenyong, former Deputy Governor of the state (1999 – 2005), who contested on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), was declared winner over Akpabio in the February 23, 2019 elections. According to Akpabio, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Mr. Mike Igini, compromised and rigged the election in favour of the PDP. But Ekpenyong, who defeated him with over 118,000 votes as against Akpabio's over 83,000 votes, faulted the allegation, saying the INEC REC, Igini, imbibed best practices in the conduct and delivery of the polls in the state. "Akpabio has never won any free and fair election on a level playing field since 2007 when he became the governor of this state because I was one of the 57 aspirants that stood the election with him and I knew he did not win. Read Also: Akpabio: I've no regrets leaving PDP "I only allow peace a chance so that people would begin to think I was fighting my brother from the same Federal Constituency, so I had to concede and move on thinking he would deploy the wealth of the state to address the challenges of underdevelopment plaguing the rural communities and the poor people of the state. "The election has been won and lost and this is the best elections ever conducted in the state since 2007. Therefore, for him to have accused Igini, a man of excellent track-record in public service over the years to have compromised, even when the people actually voted for those they wanted, is the height of blackmail. "I have never met Igini for once before the elections. I was only forced to meet him when I was drafted by the people of Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District to run in his stead when he (Akpabio) abandoned the PDP and fled for cover in APC. "When he fled to the APC, he had boasted that elections would be concluded in just three hours and I asked Igini whether there would be any level playing field to guarantee a free and fair contest with this kind of statement from Akpabio. "I had to enter the race when Igini assured me that elections would be won at the units and not in people's homes as it used to be since 2007. So the people have spoken concerning what God said would be the case in Akwa Ibom in 2019 and there is no amount of blackmail and propaganda that can change that unanimous resolution. "Therefore, I am not the one that defeated him, only God and the people of Akwa Ibom state said no to his stranglehold on power that has seen real development being subdued in politics of sentiment since 2007 in Akwa Ibom," he said. He, therefore, urged the tribunal to disregard Akpabio's intimidating antics and follow the case dispassionately to a logical conclusion that would be in the best interest of the people of Akwa Ibom, who turned out en masse at the polls to change what he described as "the business as usual era of Godswill Akpabio". Toke Makinwa also advised Nigerians to stop telling people how to heal from things they have never experienced. Her advice comes as a number of Nigerians have taken to social media to ask Tonto Dikeh to move on and stop exposing her ex-husband Churchill Olakunle Oladunni. She shared a photo that reads; "Please don't tell people how to heal from something you've never been through." She added: We are all tested differently, broken differently, our scars fade differently and we heal different. Everyone should be allowed to grieve how they want, when they want and however long they want to. Stop giving expiry dates to the pain you did not endure. If you cannot be kind, say nothing. It's ok to be quiet, try it sometime, you won't die. You don't have to understand everyone's journey or life's choices but it's your duty to respect it. Life visits us all at the end of the day and while you play judge let's hope when it's your turn, you remain standing to handle it half as strong or as perfect as you try to claim be. Former CoolFM presenter, Princess Mikky Attah makes shocking revelations about Daddy Freeze Posted: 05 May 2019 06:30 AM PDT
Attah, in a piece she forwarded to Daily Post on Friday about the controversial broadcaster, said she personally interviewed Freeze the first time he was employed by CoolFM. Mrs Attah said she was saddened that Freeze's marriage was a horrible one and that the OAP fought with his wife physically in the presence of their innocent, beautiful children. According to her, "Cool FM 96.9 Radio was the first fully digitalized radio station in the country, attracting American staff recruited directly from the US who came into Nigeria on contract to work at the new station. I was happy and proud to be a recruit from Metro FM Lagos – after heavy weights like Ibrahim Abubakar ("The Loveman") had successfully been poached from Rhythm FM; which was the King of the airwaves then. "In no short time it became my turn, as head of a department to recruit new intakes too. I am glad to say I auditioned Mr Ifedayo Freeze Olarinde, Daddy Freeze. "Now Freeze was, is a born natural, and he was practically made to be an OAP. In fact his auditioning was a mere industry formality, and in our informal but business-like office setting, it took just a thumbs–up to the then DMD, Chris Ubosi to have Daddy Freeze employed. "Freeze (he even came with the name) is a most personable guy, a wonderful, warm fella. He is a totally great guy. He's smart too. A few newcomers gave some headache (rewinding stuff on air and other crazy blunders) but Daddy Freeze had some experience in a smaller station in Ibadan before he came on board. More importantly, he's a model worker, not a slacker, he wasn't a latecomer; very approachable and likeable, and just a brilliant guy. "I think he started in 2001, about a year after me. He was a fresh graduate and so his was a conversion to youth service/full service. Then the following year, we were invited by him to Ibadan for… his wedding. He revealed that he and his lady had been childhood/college sweethearts and had decided to tie the knot. It was a nice small wedding with his Romanian mother and Yoruba father, and his lady Ope Oni's family present as well as other friends and colleagues. "Daddy Freeze and the very pretty Ope were clearly in love. However, they were really young, the bride was 19, I'd say 20 and Freeze was about 21. I would give a margin of plus 2 years tops, for the two of them. As a wife of my friend, I became casual friend with the lady; I called her on the phone averagely once a year. I remember once Freeze also let me listen in to their private conversation, unknown to her, the phone was on speaker and I listened to the end. The one loved the other, and I found them an admirable pair. They were also committed to their church. "Now then: like you can see from my writing, I am totally opinionated – but it is always an informed opinion. Also, I submit to a superior argument, based on fact and logic, I cannot stomach hypocrisy. "Lagos knew all this because I ALWAYS gave my opinion after giving the news, like a non-scripted news commentary. I dare to say that Lagos used to wake not just to my news – but to the news behind the news, plus my opinion. Immediately after that, ANOTHER 'straight-up' lady – TV show host Funmi Iyanda would come on TV for her weekday breakfast show, and from the outset, she would say: "Imikan said;, like Imikan said this morning etc. From there, talking points kicked in. "So, with all humility and knowing that there were no 'social media influencers', I can say most definitely that I influenced Daddy Freeze. Same for Olumide Macauley, the Channels TV anchor who was then at Rythms 93.7Fm (because I was involved). And there were lots of other people I related to. I later started a sport NGO, and at its first outing, we had Supersports in Nigeria for the first time (they had NOT then started, in Nigeria). So Daddy Freeze was my person, he would spend long hours in the station on the computer, and just go on gisting. He is very good company. "Daddy Freeze was to later straighten ME out on the business side of life, teaching me how to make my skills marketable, and not keep "paying my dues" all my lifetime! He was then hosting the Coca-cola Millionaire Show on TV .After I left Cool Fm, I saw snippets of Daddy Freeze and the FreeNation Movement, and the Free the Sheeple Movement, and I was happy for him. I was unsettled when I saw his post about his 'partner' – meaning the rumours of his marriage break-up were true. Greater was my shock when he posted his pictures after being "battered", as in domestic abuse while still married. Counter accusations kept flying (my ex-wife travelled out of the country with my kids without my knowledge). I couldn't help but wander – what role did their church play in preventing all this. "Also, what was the role the couple themselves played? I've noticed that a lot of times when couples see that there is 'fire on the mountain', they seem to choose to keep feigning that all is well, rather than reaching out early for Godly counsel. Their first thoughts are to "please" society and 'keep' the marriage; but they do nothing new whatsoever, towards the 'keeping.' I am not 'active' on social media and so I missed a whole lot – but a certain man came out very publicly to announce that his wife was living illegally with Freeze, even while legally married to him! I was totally shaken, and reading further, I saw that the man said his wife had left their base in Port Harcourt and had relocated with their 4 children to Lagos. She had sued him for divorce and was living with Daddy Freeze! "I am sad with myself I adjudged this as personal, and kept completely quiet. But now that my newsapp bombards me with Freeze reacts to …. Freeze reacts to…. every single time, I feel I have to speak to him, IN LOVE, and as a friend. From all responses I have seen, Daddy Freeze brooks no contrary opinion. But as one who knows him, I can also speak what's true to him. I suppose I could get his personal contacts for a one – on – one. But then that will rob a lot of people of knowledge, people who react based ONLY on what they read, who do not have the benefit of the true picture of Daddy Freeze I have painted. Many more people could benefit from this. "Daddy Freeze. Firstly, I had to do a bit of a search for this piece and I was pained to read how, in doing a certain '10 year challenge' you said 'I was in a horrible marriage… I was going through depression… and my colleagues at work hated my guts. Fast forward 10 years later and my existence has definition and purpose… I have the most wonderful woman on earth beside me.' From my understanding, your purpose centers on marriage, and on ministries and religion. I will address the second aspect in another piece, for now I want us to look at the marital aspect. "Daddy Freeze, apart from the big guy in radio you befriended as a stepping stone to your entry, I can say we your colleagues loved you! You want to forget that guy, the oldest bachelor in entertainment; he never cared whether you or anyone else did well or not. You have towered way above others, you have become a household name. In life, some people will definitely be jealous of another person's rise, but largely I can say we all love you to bits. I'm saddened that yours was a horrible marriage. Right here I must tell you though, I am disappointed at the behaviour of the both of you; fighting physically in the presence of the your innocent, beautiful children! Haba. "Sorry, but this falls on you most especially, because if you "slap back", you are stronger and will do the weaker great harm, and grievous bodily injury. The greater onus is on you to control your temper. It is a pity that our legal system can find a 'marked' man guilty and dispense with his case in record time, as far as he is hated by the government. But for a land issue, family issue or divorce case, that will drag on endlessly often to the detriment of 2 young people who only want to find happiness and move on with their lives! For the record, Moses and Jesus acknowledged divorce, Jesus only let us know that 'from the beginning it was not so.' "However, for a man with a calling into a ministry, there is a need for you to keep on the right side of the law (NOT on the right side of the society). Doing otherwise, will only give bite to naysayers (the Pharisees and Sad-To-Sees). Now that you have found happiness and love, I am truly happy that you are now happy. But I feel I should let you know that I wish you would live apart temporarily, pending when the lady obtains LEGAL SEPARATION from her husband. "Note that it is only the mother of your children you are separated from. Do everything you can to be involved in the lives of your estranged children including seeking legal means to have access to them. Financially too, be fully involved, if at all you are not. The former CNN news anchor and presenter Isha Sesay started dating Leif Coorlim, Executive Editor of CNN Freedom Project in 2008 (she joined CNN in 2005). In 2013, they got married in a grand ceremony. In 2018, Isha Sesay announced in an online magazine that they were divorced. She also announced on social media that she had quit her job at CNN (a book she's writing on the Chibok Girls is due to be presented this May 2019). "So what am I trying to say here? A beautiful media personality, just like you got married and divorced. But it was without all the drama being thrown out there, by either of the too. I vividly remember when we had an African American Presenter at Cool Fm whose love life was a daily drama. He was also a kiss-and-tell person, no keeping 'nothing' to himself! It was you Daddy Freeze who always used to tell us- 'Americans no get Family Secret'. 'These folks have no shame!' – Remember?"
Big Brother Naija Reveals The Theme Of 2019 Edition Posted: 05 May 2019 06:00 AM PDT The fourth edition of the Big Brother Naija reality television show is expected to start any time soon as the countdown to the eagerly anticipated fourth season of Big Brother Naija heats up. The theme for this edition has been revealed to be "Forget Wahala". This has been the most anticipated BBNaija season yet since the announcement of its return for a fourth season in January. According to Multichoice, the total value of the grand prize for the winner will exceed N45m, which is way bigger than what previous winners – Efemoney and Miracle – went home with. Auditions for the show recorded a massive turnout in eight locations across the country followed by an innovative online audition process which closed on March 27. The first edition of the Big Brother series was See Gobe, and Double Wahala last year eclipsed See Gobe, which was completely flawless. Ebuka Obi-Uchendu will continue as the host for this edition. Headline sponsor for this year is Bet9ja and they've promised lots of giveaways. It was also revealed that the BBNaija 2019 edition is holding in Nigeria instead of South Africa where it normally holds. In This Story: #BigBrotherNaija #Theme #2019Edition Sharing is caring. City FM sacks OAP, Benny Ark after calling out Chidinma on air Posted: 05 May 2019 05:30 AM PDT
Reports say he was allegedly sacked by the MD of City FM, Mrs Adedoja Allen, over his issues with colleagues. Few weeks ago, the OAP stated that singer, Chidinma was the reason Kizz Daniel decided to start his #Fuckyouchallenge after they broke up. However, the information by Benny Ark didn't sit well with Chidinma's camp which later made the OAP to tender an apology. According to Chidinma's manager, Rasheed Ogunsanwo: "When she heard the news, Chidinma was just laughing. Left to her, she would not have said a word or written a letter to the radio station or the OAP. It was her management that decided to take the issue up because it was blatant rubbish. If the story was true, Chidinma would have lost her cool. "Chidinma is an artiste who doesn't interfere in public issues; she just focuses on her music. It was annoying when an OAP came out to say what he wasn't sure of. And he said it with so much confidence; that pissed everyone off. On Tuesday, we wrote to the management of the radio station. We asked them to tell us where they got the information from. I think he (Benny Ark) has tendered an apology. But despite the apology, we would still look at the situation and decide if we should take the matter up legally. It was obvious the OAP was lying." However, this is not the presenter's first run with stirring controversies. The popular Abuja-based OAP was tongue-lashed on social media few months ago after he stated that Tiwa Savage only shouts and can't sing on stage. However, the OAP reacted to the call out by Tiwa Savage's fans by stating that his opinion is unbiased regardless of whose ox was gored. He also went further to say that Seyi Shay is one of the very best in the music industry and praised her for having an amazing sense of fashion and style.

Actor Charles Anwurum – Bobrisky can go to hell if he feels pained about my video Posted: 05 May 2019 04:30 AM PDT
Anwurum couldn't hide his feelings as he described featuring the cross-dresser in movies as a shame to the industry. After he shared the video, Bobrisky replied him with a post on his Instagram page, in which he insulted the comic actor. In an interview with Saturday Beats, Anwurum noted that he made that video to state his displeasure with the situation and for posterity sake. "I don't even want to make further statements about this issue. What I said was for posterity sake. When they started producing pornographic movies in Asaba, I was one of the people who cried out about it. I don't want to make further statements about Bobrisky; I just aired my opinion about the movie industry. Our movie industry is turning into something else. "People now want to make money anyhow because there isn't much money in the industry anymore. The industry is not making money; instead of being paid for their services; they pay to render their services," the actor said. He further stated that it was disheartening that the movies being churned out by the Nigerian movie industry lack good storylines. "There was a time I was watching a movie and the theme and plot of the movie were not properly organised. The scenes were not synchronised at all. Our movies now lack good stories; the themes are disjointed. Our television stations air these movies without vetting them. "All these sex scenes are not part of our culture. People are free to live their lives the way they want but they should bear this in mind – promoting cross-dressers will cause the next generation to buy into it. One day, a President will just approve homosexuality. That is what I am bothered about; I didn't mean to insult anybody. That was a comic way of passing my message across. Anybody can go to hell if they want to," he told Saturday Beats. He further identified some of the implications of featuring a cross-dresser in movies, something he described as totally unacceptable. "Featuring a cross-dresser in a movie can be a comic way of achieving a storyline. The viewers would understand that the individual is a man who is trying to play the role of deceit in the movie. Another instance is writing a script that preaches that being gay is a sin. These kinds of storylines are acceptable. However, it is not acceptable to feature someone who used to be a man and disfigured himself into a woman," he said. However, in Bobrisky's reply, he stated that the Nollywood actor was one of the poorest men in the movie industry. Reacting to this statement, Anwurum said he laughed about it when he saw it. "I was very happy with his reply because it shows that he felt bad about the video. When you feel bad about an issue, it shows you know what you are doing is not good. I was laughing when I read what he said about me being the poorest actor in Nollywood. "I am trying to create a future for the generation yet unborn. Movies are the eyes of the society. I am happy that over 90 per cent of my followers supported my view. It is my opinion; I am not forcing everyone to agree with it. I just decided to do it in a comic way. If Bobrisky feels pained, let him go into his house and cry. I didn't want to talk about it because doing that will mean giving him more attention. "I am only bothered about the future of the movie industry. The sentence he made about me not being successful as a man may encourage other young men to toe that path. Even if he claims he is not gay, he is encouraging people who have the tendency of being gay. If he is not gay, he should use his platform to tell people that being gay is bad," he said.
