As the legal battle for Osun state governorship intensifies between Ademola Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Gboyega Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Legit.ng conducted an online poll to measures people's choice on who will win at the Supreme Court.On facebook, out of almost 2,000 respondents, a whopping 64% believed Adeleke of the PDP would eventually win the Osun state mandate at the Supreme Court. On the other other hand, 37% were in favour of Governor Oyetola of the APC. They believe he would retain the governorship seat.On twitter, the PDP candidate was also the people's choice as 57% were of the belief he will secure victory to upturn the appeal court's decision, while 43% voted in favour of the APC candidates.Recall that Legit.ng earlier reported that the Appeal Court sitting in Abuja ruled in favour of Osun state governor, Oyetola, in the Osun 2018 governorship election case.The election tribunal judgment had earlier ruled in favour of Senator Adeleke, declaring him winner.Oyetola, his party, APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had filed substantive appeals, seeking the setting aside of the decision of the tribunal. Kano State Government have lost four prominent Islamic scholars as they tendered their letters of resignation to Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje.According to a report by the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, The clerics included Commander-General of the state Hisbah, Sheikh Aminu Daurawa and the chairman of the State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Abba Koki.Others are a Permanent Commissioner with the state Shariah Commission, Abubakar Kandahar, and that of Zakkah and Hubsi Commission, Nazifi Inuwa.The resignation letters dated Thursday, May 9, were made available to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano on Friday.According to the former officials, their resignation letters were received by the office of the Secretary to the State Government as required by law.NAN reports that Daurawa, Kandahar and Inuwa cited personal reasons for their action while Koki said he resigned on health ground.(NAN)  | ||

The Appeal Court, has held that the ex parte order obtained by the Federal government at the Code of Conduct Tribunal directing Justice Walter Onnoghen, the former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), to step aside was shrouded in secrecy.The three-man panel of the Court further held that the said ex parte order was in breached of the fundamental rights to fair hearing of Justice Onnoghen.Regardless, the court held that since judgment had already been delivered by the CCT on the substantive case, the ex parte order was already been spent and therefore had no useful purpose in law, Sun News reports.According to the court, "the interlocutory appeal cannot serve any useful purpose since judgment has already been delivered on the substantive case.The ex parte order is already spent and is of no use.READ ALSO: Justice Bulkachuwa Asked To Withdraw From Presidential Election Tribunal By PDP The mode of securing the ex parte order was shrouded in secrecy. The prosecution had without waiting for the next adjourned date gone back to the tribunal to secure the ex parte order. Justice must never be shrouded in secrecy. Prosecution must conduct proceedings in the public domain. In the instance appeal, the prosecution went behind to obtain the ex parte order which affected the interest of the appellant. His fundamental right to fair hearing was breached by the conduct of the prosecution. This should not be so. The court however dismissed Onnoghen's appeal bordering on the warrant of arrest on the grounds that there were no documents placed before it to enable it determine the appeal. The court, however, noted that the issue of bench warrant had been overtaken by events as the former CJN voluntary submitted himself to the tribunal. The appeal is hereby struck out. The Abia State Police Command, on Thursday, confirmed the killing of an ex-Enyimba FC of Aba player, Christian Jacob, by suspected assassins.SP Geoffrey Ogbonna, the Police spokesperson in the state, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the former Enyimba player was killed on Wednesday outside his house on Umuola road, Ogbor Hill, Aba.A reliable source told NAN on Thursday that the player had been away for a while before resurfacing in Aba some days ago where he met his untimely death.The source said that the information making the rounds on the internet, that Jacob was shot dead by robbers was not true.He said that the former player was killed by suspected hired killers who shot him and went away without taking his phone or anything from him.He said that the death of Jacob, nicknamed "Nkita Ara" threw the people of the area into mourning because of his friendliness and popularity with the residents of the area. The video surfaced few hours after a video showed him getting beaten by some thugs in Shitta. This was in reaction to a video which showed Shoki Shitta insulting Wizkid with claims that people don't want to listen to his songs in Shitta because Davido has taken over. He was severely beaten by the thugs who used sticks, belts, brooms and even hot water on him. When the beating became unbearable, he had to scream out loud begging all those around to help him beg Wizkid. However, the below video shows him saying Davido is misbehaving against Wizkid whom he got his glory from. According to him, Davido is nothing without his father's money. (EFCC) has arrested Nigerian musician, Naira Marley, real name Afeez Fashola. The fast-rising singer is currently being questioned at the EFFC office in Lagos. Although the reason behind his arrest is yet to be made public, it might be in connection with his statements on social media which glorifies internet fraudsters, popularly called Yahoo boys. The EFCC spokesperson could not be reached early on Friday, but a top source at the agency confirmed the arrest to Premium Times. Perhaps coincidentally, Naira Marley released the official video of his hit track, 'Am I A Yahoo Boy' featuring Zlatan on Thursday. Naira Marley during a recent Instagram live session, urged Nigerians to pray for internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys) saying they are the reason money circulates to the common man. He said: "All you guys, all the money in your pockets, all the money you spend, you think it's the government that is making the money go round?" His arrest might be in connection with his statements on social media which glorifies internet fraudsters aka Yahoo boys. Naira Marley has been making headlines after he shared a post on his Instagram page suggesting that he had a soft spot for people involved in Internet fraud, saying Yahoo is not a crime, it is a payback for enslaving blacks centuries ago. During a recent Instagram live session, he urged Nigerians to pray for internet fraudsters (Yahoo boys) saying they are the reason money circulates to the common man. He said: "All you guys, all the money in your pockets, all the money you spend, you think it's the government that is making the money go round?" The video has since stirred reactions from Nigerians who described Marley as a disgrace and bad example to young Nigerians. However, a few Nigerians supported Marley, stating that Yahoo boys were the reason some Nigerians can eat and survive. The singer is popular for his 2017 hit song titled 'Issa goal.'
