BBNaija's Khloe has alleged that she was harassed and humiliated by an Uber driver

Posted: 11 Jun 2019 11:30 PM PDT

BBNaija's Khloe
Yet again another celebrity has been allegedly harassed and humiliated by an Uber driver and this time, it's Big Brother Naija ex-housemate, Khloe.

The reality TV star narrated her ordeal in the hands of an Uber driver via her Instagram page on Tuesday, June 11, 2019.

In a long post, Khloe revealed that she had ordered an Uber ride which turned out not to be as planned as she was insulted, humiliated and harassed. She went on to share two videos of the ugly incident.

"I'm typing this in tears and anger. Dear @ubernigeria I don't know how you pick your drivers but these people are not human and it's heartbreaking because we travel and see how Uber drivers in other country treat us. So I missed my flight at the old airport and ordered Uber. Firstly, I called and he picked and using me to talk. Secondly, he said I have to meet him where he parked that he can't come to me. I was too tired and just want to go home... I got inside the car after so much attitude but just want to leave because of people trying to say Hi and I'm too tired.

"He asked where I was going and I said Lekki but want to stop by Surulere. Then he said he wanted a long journey cos if he pays for the car park he has to make the money back "aggressively " then I asked if there is any problem? He replied, "problem will arise if I don't make enough money ". And I said cancel and let me order another one. He look back and said "if only you are human enough you will understand " and I replied what do you mean human enough? He said I can't understand cos I'm not human. I was so mad and asked if he's Mad? Next thing he started cursing me, saying all sorts, sent me out of the car and pushed me to the side. The most annoying part is that his friends there that were greeting me and I waved at joined him and said we greeted her and she just waved, so they join him to curse and humiliate me ." am I suppose to kneel down and greet them cos they called my name ?" And he said ( yah all celebrity feels like you are god, we are here to treat your fuck up ).

"Mentioning names of popular people they have done such too and so on @ubernigeria tonight I feel the worse, luckily for me, my people were still around so I called them and they got me out of the place quickly cos they were going to jump on me. Just imagine people who don't have voices or someone around? That's how people get raped, robbed, beaten, even killed. Pls screen your drivers and always ask for reviews .. but what is the assurance they will even get punished after review or report...For me I'm done with UBER This isn't my 1st experience and people around me too. #byeUber," she wrote.

The last time a celebrity shared a similar experience was back in 2018 when Shola Dorcas-Fapson was reportedly attacked by a Taxify driver.

Rema has alté traits, but ultimately, he's just living

Is Rema alté?

Rema has alté traits, but ultimately, he's just living
Earlier this morning, Nigerian music critic, Joey Akan asked a key question on his Twitter page (@JoeyAkan), 'Is Rema alté?'

It's a question we've all been asking.

The responses he got to this question ranged from pretty damning to very dynamically answered. Meanwhile on June 7, 2019, during the recording of the latest episode of Loose Talk Podcast featuring DRB Lasgidi (BOJ, Teezee and Fresh L) the originators of alte, the issue came up.

Ayomide Tayo triggered the issue and speculated that Rema actually claim to be alté.

BOJ disagreed and he had a good point. Alté is an intimate circle of people who relate based on their shared values, similar lifestyle choices, similar beliefs and ideals.

BOJ's group member, Teezee was measured with his take. He opined that "lifestyle-wise," Rema might be alte, but those lifestyle choices are a natural reflection of the generation Rema finds himself. This then leads to the question…

What is alté?

While this question can only be sufficiently answered by intimate members of the movement, we can define alté as an avant-garde Nigerian movement that places an emphasis on freewill and a refusal to act or in the way that society deems 'appropriate.' They have shown that 'good' or 'beauty' could be found in anything.

The movement impacts fashion and style, lifestyle choices, music, interests and so forth. While certain sounds are peculiar to alt̩ acts, alt̩ is not really a genre of music. Alt̩ acts make music across different genres and styles Рa focal point of the freewill that is peculiar to the movement.

Ekweremadu's Nomination For Deputy Senate President, Puts Him In Shock

Senator Ike Ekweremadu

Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Nigeria's former Deputy Senate President,  has been nominated for the position of the Deputy Senate President.

Ekweremadu's nomination, however, came to may as a surprise, even to himself.

Senator-elect Chukwuka Utazi nominated the immediate past deputy President of the Senate to retain his seat at the 9th Senate.

The nomination was seconded by Senator-elect Rose Oko (Cross River North).

Both Utazi and Oko are of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The lawmaker representing Enugu West, however, excepted the nomination as he vowed to work with Ahmed Lawan who had earlier been elected Senate President, Daily Post reports.

This was even as the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) had nominated the Senator-elect for Delta Central, Ovie Omo-Agege.

Senator-elect for Katsina North, Ahmed Baba Kaita nominated Omo-Agege while Senator-elect for Niger North, Abdullahi Aliyu Sabi seconded it.

In nominating Ekweremadu, Senator-elect Utazi said, his emergence as the deputy president would "restore the sanctity of the Senate chamber which was bastardized eight months ago".

Buhari vs Atiku: Human Rights Watch Reveals Shocking Report On Nigeria’s Election, Makes Revelations

Posted: 11 Jun 2019 06:28 AM PDT

President Muhammadu Buhari

The Presidential elections in 2019 that returned President Muhammadu Buhari to office for a second term were marred by political violence, some of it by soldiers and police officers, Human Rights Watch (HRW) said on Monday.

Buhari had defeated Atiku Abubakar of the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP) in a keenly-contested poll.

The HRW called on Buhari to take concrete steps to address the widespread political violence and ensure accountability for human rights abuses by soldiers and police as he begins his second term, Daily Post reports.

The report on the election released on the HRW website on Monday noted that the election period included persistent attacks by factions of Boko Haram terrorist group in the northeast; increased communal violence between nomadic herdsmen and farmers spreading southward from north-central states; and a dramatic uptick in banditry, kidnapping, and killings in the northwestern states of Kaduna, Katsina, and Zamfara. It maintained that security forces have failed to respond effectively to threats to people's lives and security.

RELATED:  33-year-old Final Year Student Elected Speaker By Plateau Assembly

Human Rights Watch said it interviewed 32 people; including voters, journalists, election observers, activists, and Independent National Electoral Commission officials in Rivers and Kano states, and documented 11 deaths specifically related to violent interference in the election process during the February 23 presidential election and subsequent state elections.

The group added: "The national and state elections in February, March, and April 2019 contributed to the general insecurity across the country. The politically related violence reported in many states was in contrast to the relatively peaceful 2015 elections that brought Buhari into his first term in office. According to a report by SBM Intelligence, which monitors sociopolitical and economic developments in Nigeria, 626 people were killed during the 2019 election cycle, starting with campaigns in 2018.

"Kano state, in northwestern Nigeria, has the highest number of registered voters in the country. Rivers state, in the Niger Delta, receives the largest share of crude-oil-based national revenue, representing significant electoral value to any political party. The history of elections in both states is replete with violence by state security agencies and criminal elements.

"Human Rights Watch focused its research on both states in view of projections and reports of violence during the 2019 elections. Despite police claims of increased security measures to ensure peaceful voting, there seems to have been little or no police response to reports of threats and acts of violence by hired political thugs and soldiers against voters and election officials, Human Rights Watch found.

"Voters and election officials said that policemen either fled or stood idly by, fueling allegations of complicity, as perpetrators stole election materials, disrupted voting, and harassed voters. Witnesses said that the police also shot live rounds of ammunition and used teargas to disperse people protesting voting disruptions.

RELATED:  JUST IN: Petition Against Buhari's Victory Dismissed By Election Tribunal

"Witnesses said that after a soldier was killed in the town of Abonnema, in Rivers state, on election day, soldiers shot at residents, killing an unknown number of people. They also carried out sweeping arrests and arbitrarily detained several people."

"The soldiers were on a rampage, shooting at anyone around," said a 37-year-old man who witnessed the episode. "As I made my way to flee, I saw people dive into the river, many with gunshot wounds. The next day I saw three dead bodies riddled with bullets floating in the water… I heard many more bodies were later recovered from that river."

HRW noted that "Banditry and the recurring cycles of deadly violence between herdsmen and farmers appear to have taken the lives of thousands. According to civil society reports, over 3,641 people have died from deadly clashes between herdsmen and farmers since 2015 and at least 262 people have been killed by bandits since the beginning of 2019 in Zamfara State alone. The government deployed 1,000 military troops to the state in response, but few of those responsible for the violence have been arrested or held to account.

"The northeast conflict with Boko Haram and its splinter groups also remains one of Buhari's pressing challenges. Although Boko Haram's territorial control has shrunk to small pockets of villages around Lake Chad as a result of sustained government military action since 2015, the group continues to carry out attacks against civilian and military targets in the region and in neighboring Niger, Cameroon, and Chad.

"In recent months, renewed fighting between Nigerian government forces and a faction of Boko Haram, known as Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), has led to secondary displacement of civilians.

"Security forces have been implicated in serious abuses, including arbitrary arrests, prolonged detention without trial, torture, extrajudicial killings, rape and sexual violence against women and girls in camps for displaced people. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), more than 27,000 civilians have died and about 1.8 million people have been displaced since the beginning of the conflict in 2009.

"Authorities have also failed to address impunity for killings by security forces elsewhere in the country. The authorities have yet to publish the report of the Presidential Judicial Panel set up in August 2017 to investigate the military's compliance with human rights obligations, allegations of war crimes, and other abuses by the military.

RELATED:  APC Chieftain Says, President Buhari Is In Support Of 2023 Igbo Presidency

"Nigerian voters have entrusted Buhari with another opportunity to address the nation's serious human rights problems, including political violence," Ewang said. "He should start by reforming the security forces to ensure strict compliance with human rights standards, and prompt investigation and prosecution of those credibly implicated in abuses."

On the 2019 election violence, HRW said: "Nigeria's elections have historically been fraught with controversy, violence, and other abuses, with the 2015 elections, widely believed to have been largely free of violence, bucking this trend. There were reports of voter intimidation and violence around the 2019 elections at both the federal and state levels, including by armed men hired by candidates and political parties and by security forces, including the national police.

"Bauchi, Benue, Kano, Sokoto, Plateau, and Rivers states were particularly affected by violence during the March 9 gubernatorial elections. The Independent National Electoral Commission canceled elections in places where the elections were disrupted and held supplementary elections later. Kano state had supplementary elections on March 23, and Rivers state on April 13.

"Kano and Rivers states were probably the worst hit of the six states. They were identified by both local and international analysts ahead of the elections as holding great potential for electoral violence. Both are major political strongholds for the two leading political parties, Buhari's ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP). Abdullahi Ganduje of the APC won the 2019 election in Kano, and Nyesom Wike of the PDP won in Rivers state."

Both didnt see each other.

Right afta d successful openin nite, I had dispersed d first roll call of artistes.
Peruzzi, Skales & Dbanj wer billed to perform on d second nite.

For some weird reason, Pamilerin slept off & didnt come thru. So Peruzzi didnt see him in d club.
Heaven knows wat wuld hv gone dwn.
The morning of the 9th, I had dispatched security to go pick 2Face and Zoro up and the moment they got back to the hotel, I did a roll call of all my guests billed to catch the evening flight out of PH to Lagos.

Everyone came to the hotel lobby and we started a head count.
Pamilerin strolled down & I immediately started teasing him about how he missed out on a great nite out at d club. And we laughed about the shenanigans that @PEXXIE & Shewenzi were up to.

I was truly grateful that everyone came thru to support CLUB DIPS but most importantly, ME!
Pamilerin
Peruzzi came down a few minutes after & whilst we were catching up about his great performance d nite before, d Protocol guys called for my attention.

Femi Fani-Kayode and Church of Satan clash on twitter
The Church of Satan and former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode are the subjects of discussions currently on twitter as the two entities just clashed on the social media platform.

Fani Kayode through his twitter handle referred to former New York Police Department cop, Linda Fairstein, as a witch and member of the Church of Satan.

The church however would not have any of that and responded to FFK's accusation and at the same time denying Linda as a member of the sect.

See the exchanges:

Kozzographer, threatens to sue EFCC for parading him as “Yahoo Boy”

Kozzographer, threatens to sue EFCC for parading him as "Yahoo Boy"
An Abuja-based music producer and photographer, Mr Nasiru Ali, popularly known as "Kozzographa", on Sunday threatened to sue the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for wrongly calling him a fraudster (Yahoo boy).

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Ali was among 10 suspected internet fraudsters paraded on May 17 by the EFCC operatives.
The EFCC personnel had raided a residence inside the Favour Land Estate, Life Camp, Abuja and Kozzographa alongside nine others were arrested following a tip-off by an anonymous source.

The agency said that the suspects would be charged to court as soon as investigations were concluded.

But Ali in a petition to the EFCC Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, on May 31 demanded a compensation of N100 million and an unreserved apology for arresting him wrongly and giving a libelous information to the public about him.

The music producer, through his lawyer, Mr Pelumi Olajengbensi, said that he would drag the EFCC to court for refusing to retract the negative publications about him after a seven-day ultimatum.

"He lost a contract of five million Naira with United Global Resolve for Peace (UNGREP), which he had been interviewed for and hitherto offered unequivocally because the contractors became disturbed and concerned by the publication thus doubtful of his reputation.

"He has been ostracised by his colleagues and associates as well as senior associates who usually refer to him for jobs in the past, thereby losing their trust and reference.

"He has been bombarded with a barrage of calls from friends and family members calling his reputation to question, while expressing their disappointment and indicating their intention to cut all connection with him forthwith.

"His relationship with his intended life partner has been irreparably strained by the negative publicity generated by the unlawful arrest, particularly the publication on your media platform on same matter.

"The publication has led to close clients taking their jobs off him and taking them to other persons thereby amounting to great level of loss and in some cases varying level of indebtedness," Ali's lawyer stated in the petition to EFCC.

Ali also claimed in the petition that his health and psychology had been affected following the his arrest and alleged assault by the commission's operatives.

He said that the men that raided his home were dressed in black with no means of identifying them as officers of the EFCC.

The petitioner had given the EFCC seven days to meet his conditions or face legal action.

Olamide strikes a chord in Tony Elumelu with ‘Oil & Gas’

Olamide strikes a chord in Tony Elumelu with 'Oil & Gas'
Olamide Adedeji has made an impression on billionaire banker, Tony Elumelu after he explained the idea behind his song, 'Oil & Gas'.

The YBNL boss says he only decided to address fans' state of mind in the new song and noted that he's neither broke nor financially incapacitated.

"I'm not broke rather it's actually a way of saying the people's mind in my own way with my own sound, with my own story and my own people," Olamide told Elumelu on the web series, 'Exclusives'.

The recording artist and record label exec, in a 14 minutes long video, told Elumelu how frequent financial requests from fans and followers on Instagram necessitated his decision to write his new song, 'Oil & Gas'.

Explaining in details, Olamide says, "It's my own way of reaching out to people to make them understand that sometimes what you see can be deceiving and when people on the streets see you, they are asking for help or money."

He further said, "When I wake up every morning I check my DM, I am the type of guy that takes his time to check his DM to see if there are really one or two people that needs serious help but it's all about send me money, send money to my account, you know you can teach your guys how to fish but it's now left for them what they want to do with the fish, do you want to sell it, fry it and eat it, do you want to smoke it or roast it, so if I give a million Naira, what becomes of you after then? What you do to turn around the money all depends on you…So, I had to find a way to communicate that message by singing from their perspective about that situation. I'm trying to put myself in their shoes singing about what they do to me by saying give us money."

When Elumelu asked how the fans have embraced the song, Olamide noted that most of them don't understand the meaning of the song.

"Many of the fans are enjoying the song but I know most of them don't understand the meaning and that is why I'm trying to break it down. Some of them think I'm singing about me being broke, but I'm not broke, I'm only singing in their voice and representing their views" he said.

Olamide was quick to correct Elumelu that mentioning his name and other billionaires were not to help give his fans jobs or help them financially.

"Now, the cruise is I am using my own situation, my friends, my people and the people I appreciate, people I look up to are the ones I'm calling. It's just the same way a regular guy looks up to me and request for funds, the same way I'm using a relative picture of people I know."

The chat further extended to the creation and popularity of Shaku Shaku and Zanku dance steps.

Olamide explained that creative entertainers like himself decided to pick parts of what has made the Nigerian streets unique and refine it into what the world has now accepted as Nigerian dance steps.

Obviously impressed by the achievements of Elumelu, Olamide says no young Nigerian entrepreneur will fail to admire Elumelu.

"You can not be a young entrepreneur and not admire the brand, Tony Elumelu either you are a close friend or not. He's one of the people motivating so many young entrepreneurs right now and we really look at him like, yo, this man is not getting old any time soon," he says.

In his conclusion of Olamide's personality, Elumelu said, "Olamide is very inspiring and a living entrepreneur. He's an exemplary one, I mean, everyone should look up to people like this (Olamide). I look at his music and we get entertained but telling us about the idea behind it, it is all about propelling the next generation, encouraging people and those who don't have jobs telling them it's not about subsistent living but how you can create value and move your life further. And if you look at his case, he was a student not long ago and now he's doing so great.

"You (Olamide) are very inspiring, you are a role model to our younger ones and I can see in you greatness. I want you to continue what you do by bridging the gap between the rich, middle and low class and let people use your voice to shape a better Nigeria, better Africa and better society at large," he concluded.

The words of Elumelu puts Olamide in a different light as not only one of Nigeria's biggest music stars but also a young entrepreneur that might be making big impacts in the business world.
