Ruggedman beaten in London restaurant by Naira Marley's fans

Posted: 15 Jun 2019 11:00 PM PDT

Nigerian rapper Ruggedman who is presently in London, England was attacked by unidentifed men at a restaurant.

Ruggedman beaten in London restaurant by unknown men
In the early hours of Saturday June 15, 2019, Ruggedman posted an Instagram video of him being attacked by 4 unknown men in a London restaurant.

The post carried this caption, "Being attacked by 4 misguided boys will not deter me from fighting for the youths, even though they blindly fight me.#shoutout #londonmetpolic@london_police_department for prompt action. The restaurant owner was just asking if everyone had paid for their food. #businessneverpersonal"

The hoodlums were so vicious that one of them repeatedly hit Ruggedman with a chair before he managed to escape. On the messages he has received, the rapper has since thanked his fans for the support.

You might remember that...
On his causes of activism, Ruggedman has rustled a few feathers. One of those feathers belongs to UK-affiliated Afeez Fashola also known as Naira Marley.

It took the intervention of celebrities like Davido to douse the situation. Even when Naira Marley was arrested, several Nigerians implied that the veteran rapper played a role in his arrest.

The veteran rapper had to rebut the claims with a statement of his own.

Spoiler: BBNaija 4 'Forget Wahala' kick off alert!

Posted: 15 Jun 2019 10:30 PM PDT

After several months of teasing and hint dropping, MultiChoice Nigeria announced the kick-off date of the famous reality TV show to cheering audience across Africa.

Spoiler: BBNaija 4 'Forget Wahala' kick off alert!
Big Brother Naija 4 will kick off officially on Sunday, June 30, 2019, and we have some exclusive spoiler alerts.

In the last three months, Pulse has consistently reported exclusive hints on the reality TV show and plans by the organisers.

Pulse findings revealed that true to the audience expectations for this season, the organisers are putting all in place to make the show surpass the previous seasons.

Here are some of the spoilers from the Big Brother Naija Season 4

BBNaija 4's theme and decor will be 'spicy'

For every edition of BBNaija, the theme is announced at the opening night by the host. Similarly, from BBNaija's first edition, the show's theme usually determines the décor of the house. The last edition's theme was 'Double Wahala' and this gave rise to the pairing of the housemates for a long time. The edition before 'Double Wahala' was themed 'See GoBBe' and the house activities were structured around the theme. For the fourth edition, the BBNaija house will have more feel of the Naija culture. We were reliably informed that the fourth edition's theme, which is being bandied about town as 'Forget Wahala,' is not the official theme. According to sources, the 2019 edition's theme will be Naija-flavoured like the past two editions. The source further hinted 'Hot Pepper' as the possible theme of the fourth edition judging from the spicy hot adverts.

A celebrity housemate might join the housemates
In February 2018, Pulse did an exclusive expose on a number of Nollywood stars that were spotted at the physical audition of the Big Brother Naija 4 in Ikeja, Lagos. Ardent followers of the show have borrowed a leaf to speculate that there is likely to be one or two celebrities as part of the housemates since these celebrities auditioned to be part of the show. Our source was not definitive but the source noted that there is a surprise awaiting audience and it might be a celebrity housemate. Pulse reliably gathered that the housemates of the BBNaija 4 will either be 10 or more.

BBNaija 4 house is custom built with an eviction studio
Pulse can report that the BBNaija house is situated in Lagos state, Nigeria. While the exact location has been kept in secrecy for security purposes, the BBNaija house was built from scratch. Unlike the first edition, which had the house tucked somewhere inside Ikeja GRA, Lagos, the new purpose-built BBNaija house has the house, the production and post-production units, and studio for live shows all in one location. This further tells fans that the show might be running for a long time. Earlier in the year, Multichoice Nigeria's CEO, John Ugbe had hinted why the show is being held in Nigeria. He said, "Bringing the project back to Nigeria is a big deal for us. People asked us in the past why we didn't do it in Nigeria, it's because we had a customized studio for the reality show in South Africa. Now, we have one in Nigeria, which gives us the opportunity to do more here." An insider also revealed that the audience will be wowed when the studio for the live eviction shows opens. The source said the eviction studio is twice the size of what was used for the last two seasons and this means we can expect bigger performance, greater coverage of audience reactions and other stage and sound production.

Friday night games and Saturday parties
BBNaija is not complete without the Friday night games and the energetic Saturday night parties. And this fourth edition won't be an exception. Sources hinted that housemates will be turning up big time in the 2019 BBNaija house. Pulse was reliably informed that the Friday night games will be bigger and intriguing and the Saturday night parties will be more uproarious than expected. To this end, a purpose-built in-house club and game arena have been completed.

The audience stands to gain more with predictions
One particularly possible prediction - as earlier reported - is about what viewers stand to get with BetNaija partnering BBNaija. Our sources hinted that fans will be winning prizes if they predict correctly events relating to who will be the Head of House, who gets evicted at what week and who eventually wins the show. There are possibilities of these events being put on Bet9ja betting sites for the matured audience to bet on and increase their fortunes aside voting online and via text messages.

MC Galaxy says he has been dancing 'Sekem' moves at Burials and Market places before fame

Posted: 15 Jun 2019 10:00 PM PDT

Nigerian singer, Innocent Udeme Udofot aka MC Galaxy has explained what endeared him to music and how he came up with the popular Sekem dance.

MC Galaxy says he has been dancing 'Sekem' dance at Burials and market places before fame

MC Galaxy also explains why he bought a car for Tspize, the producer of his first hit song.

The musician in an interview published by Punch on Saturday June 15, 2019, said he prefers music to comedy because it is more lucrative. He added that he has been doing the Sekem dance before he produced the song.

He said, "I used to be a comedian and a dancer; I used to dance everywhere, at burials, and even in the market. I have been doing the 'Sekem' dance at comedy clubs before I produced the song".

Explaining why he gave Tspize, the producer of his first hit song, a car, MC Galaxy said the music producer deserves it, adding that he did not share the news of his gesture to trend on social media.

"The producer of the song is very understanding and patient; that was why I gave him a car recently. In a bid to surprise him, I tricked him to meet me somewhere giving the impression that I wanted to give him some money; but I dazzled him with a car gift instead.

"I can remember how I met him at the club and told him I would like him to produce my song. He is very humble, he gave me his contact details and that was how we met and started five years ago. He told me to come with N50,000 but I was only able to raise N40,000. I explained to him that was all I had on me.

"After I gave him the car, he told me that he could remember when I told him I was going to buy him a car, the day we were producing the song. Contrary to what some people are saying, I didn't share the news to trend. Tspize was even the first person to post a picture of the car on his page."

MC Galaxy also has some words of advice for up and coming artistes. The singer urged young musicians to be loyal to their helpers and also advised them not to other people's opinions against their helpers.

Ex-President Jonathan, Dickson In Battle Of Wits As Bayelsa Elect Another Governor In November

Posted: 15 Jun 2019 04:41 PM PDT

Seriake Dickson and Goodluck Jonathan

Can Governor Seriake Dickson's successor in Bayelsa State come from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)? The governor of the oil-rich state appear to be confident that he will hand over the baton of the state's leadership to the PDP candidate after the forthcoming November 16 governorship election.

Speaking recently at a PDP stakeholders' meeting, the governor insisted that with the support of leaders of the state, he would lead the PDP to victory at the coming poll.

Dickson said: "Another PDP governor will be elected in the next election. I urge all the people to step into the communities and mobilise the people. It will be my pleasure to lead the PDP with your support so that another PDP governor will be elected.

"How we survived during the 2015 governorship election is by the grace of God and our mobilization skills. You now have people who know how to play opposition politics. As we begin the transition programme, we expect you to put on the toga of an opposition person."

There is, however, an unusual kind of silence in the state with only a few months to the election that will determine who takes over the mantle of leadership from Dickson. The task of getting a successor is made more precarious in PDP by key political figures in the state who were accused of engaging in anti-party activities to undermine the party's leadership.

RELATED:  Nigeria heading for constitutional crisis, says Dickson

The last general election threw up some unresolved issues that border on anti-party, leaving a question mark on the allegiance of some members and leaders of the party. Ordinarily, it would be logical to expect that a former President of the State, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan and Governor Dickson would join forces to tackle the issue of succession. However, the fallout of the last general elections, especially the activities of party leaders identified as the henchmen of the former President, has thrown up more puzzles.

For instance, the state leadership of the PDP is irked by the decision of known associates of the former President to throw their weight behind opposition candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Action Democratic Alliance (ADC) in the last election.

The PDP won 20 out of the 24 House of Assembly seats out of the 23 whose results were declared. The party is in court with its candidates, battling to retrieve the remaining seats as well as two House of Representatives and one Senate seats, which it believed were manipulated by the APC in connivance with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Sources in the PDP observed that the former President whose presence should ordinarily be a motivating factor curiously stayed away from the campaigns of the PDP in the last general election. The bewildered party leaders are not comfortable that Jonathan refused to back Dickson when he led the leaders of the party across the state to canvass for votes.  Key party leaders believed that the former President did not only ignore the political campaigns of his party, his allies sponsored opposition candidates against the PDP in the last election.

RELATED:  Bayelsa recovers N2.2bn from public sector reforms

A notable party leader who spoke in confidence said: "Even as the state moves closer to the November 16, 2019 gubernatorial election, there is a growing disenchantment among top chieftains of the PDP against the deliberate moves by Jonathan political family in Bayelsa to sabotage the fortunes of the PDP.

"PDP leadership set up a panel of investigation into the conduct of party leaders and members during the last election with a view to taking disciplinary measures against culprits of anti-party. Unfortunately, the report of that panel is still being awaited as the party was caught in a game of the ostrich, not willing to disrupt its internal cohesion by punishing allies of the former President who naturally should play as the father of all.

"It is incontestable to say that in Bayelsa, the expected role of former President Jonathan is seriously scathed by the events of the last election and the general perception that he had turned his back to the PDP which provided the platform for his ascendancy.

"It is in the records of the party that Jonathan did not just avoid identifying with the party in its critical moment of need, he also did not make any financial contributions to aid the party's pursuit of victory in the elections.

"Many leaders of the PDP are also bitter that the former President did not live up to the high expectations from somebody of his status as he kept mum when the party came under a heavy attack from an interplay of forces loyal to the Federal Government and the All Progressives Congress.

"It is the viewpoint that a man who deliberately refused to condemn the murder of a Government House photographer and a party chieftain in Southern Ijaw and the brazen acts of impunity at Nembe Bassambiri is not in the best moral position to decide the party's next successor."

Another factor that seems to have worked against Jonathan and his followers is their perceived reputation for turning against their political associates. There is the prevalent belief that Jonathan's lack of firmness and decisiveness was at the root of the disintegration of his political movement, the Green Movement, which he formed alongside his associates as governor.

Defending his boss against allegations of anti-party activities, Media Aide to the ex-President, Ikechukwu Eze, dismissed them as untrue.

He said: "It is manifestly dishonest, deceitful and preposterous for anybody to suggest that former President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is working against the interest of the party under which he rose to occupy the highest office in the land.

"As one of the leaders of the party, having served as President under the Peoples Democratic Party, it is obvious that Dr. Jonathan has continued and will continue to work for the success of PDP across the nation."

RELATED:  Dickson offers automatic jobs to Ijaw PhD holders

But the seemingly overbearing influence of Jonathan's wife, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, has not helped Jonathan's popularity with the political crowd and its leaders in Bayelsa. Most people hate the idea of a Bayelsa being governed by a man who would hand over the state to the controlling influence of the former First Lady.

Sources said the closeness of some of the governorship aspirants, including Reuben Okoya, to the former First Lady was negatively affecting their ambitions. In fact, a good majority of PDP stakeholders appear not inclined to queue behind a candidate emerging from Jonathan following his recent history with the state PDP. Such Stakeholders are of the view that it will be repugnant to the concept of justice and fairness for some people to make the sacrifice over the years to build a solid party only to yield it to some passive interests.

Investigation further revealed that all leaders of the PDP Restoration Team led by Dickson are of the same opinion. Dickson recently told PDP stakeholders in April that he would support somebody from his restoration team to fly the party's flag in the November 16 elections.

Although, a number of government officials have so far indicated interest in participating in the primaries, none of them have summoned the courage to make public declarations of their ambitions.

Obviously, the members of the restoration team seem to be waiting for the governor's endorsement as he appears to be in firm control of the party and all its structures from the unit to the state level. In fact, all the aspirants crave the governor's endorsement in the race for the PDP ticket in the next election.

Indeed, Dickson's declaration that the search for his successor would begin from the Restoration Family, which controls over 80 per cent of the PDP in Bayelsa, has ruffled some feathers. Restoration members have insisted that since they are in control of the party, any attempt to impose a candidate on them from outside their family will be resisted vehemently. Indeed, some of the politicians who belong to the household of the returnee aspirants are said to be jolted by the position of the Restoration Team.

But some of the aspirants are claiming that they have Jonathan's backing. Such aspirants are pushing the narrative that they have not received the backing of the governor yet because they are believed to be too independent-minded and mature for his support. These aspirants view President Goodluck Jonathan as the only lifeline to their ambition, seeing that they lack the political presence, the pedigree and popularity to pursue a successful campaign in the state without the governor and his men.

But the multiplicity of aspirants jostling to succeed Dickson has put the PDP and its leadership in a difficult situation. A top member of the State Executive of the party lamented that a particular leader invited many of the aspirants to indicate interest in the governorship thereby deepening confusion ahead of the election.

Despite the name dropping, the two political leaders of the PDP, Dickson and Jonathan, have kept mum about the touchy issue of the PDP candidate in the next election.

While both leaders have held close door meetings with no other person in attendance, the outcome of such deliberations are closely guarded secrets. The enduring silence from those perceived as the anchor for the political ambitions of these aspirants have resulted in a lull in political activities across Bayelsa.

A source close to Dickson, who is also a member of the State Executive Committee of the PDP, hinted that only Dickson will determine his successor. The source said that it is the party's view that the former President whose strongest contribution to the PDP in Bayelsa remains his membership of the party in principle, should concede the decision to the governor in the interest of continuity, party cohesion and strength.

The party chieftain, who preferred anonymity, said: "PDP in Bayelsa takes directives from only one man, Governor Dickson. His firm grip on the party is as impregnable as it is impenetrable."

But observers of the political situation in Bayelsa are of the view that it would strengthen the PDP further if the two leaders agree on a consensus arrangement where the governor and the former President agree on a successor.

A PDP chieftain said: "As the state inches towards November 16, it is the inevitable reality that no candidate of the PDP will emerge let alone win an election in Bayelsa without the support of the Restoration family built on the leadership provided by Dickson.

The governor, however, has continued to deny rift with Jonathan. The governor said they were in good terms, insisting that their cordial relationship was displayed during the last state function on the Bayelsa Education Development Fund (BEDF).

He said: "That event should have shown to most people that there is no problem between us. He is my elder brother and leader and he will continue to receive his respect. Even in this transition. That event shows that we are united when it comes to what we do for our people.

"There is no relationship that has lasted longer than our relationship. There is no issue. But aides and people around make careless statements and they manipulate stories and take advantage of the proximity they have with the former President."

Dickson said Jonathan would be the first leader he would consult during the process to decide his successor and standard bearer of the PDP in the coming election.

"I will sit down with former President Jonathan. When I am ready, I will visit him and we will compare notes. I have his support. The bottomline remains that I am in charge of governance. There are many people I will sit down to rob minds with," he said.

SOME OF MY CLOSEST FRIENDS FEEL I'M IGNORING THEM. PLS FORGIVE ME 😣😣
Dear Funmi I am not well. I have no money or strength to take care of myself. I had to resort to crowd funding my medical bills. Nigerians are suffering and the 2k ppl are donating have helped me get some psychotherapy, pain medicine for my body and anxiety medicine for my panic attacks. Pls understand I'm going thru a lot at this time. My elderly father cannot do much for me but still supports me emotionally, I was once the breadwinner in this family with everyone feeding off my $5,000 a week salary in the 90's at $20k/mo. I took care of everyone. I no longer have siblings. I only care for myself and my sons. Everything I own in America was sold during my 2017 arrest. I had to pay my youngest two's school fees, one in $ and the other naira. My boys now have "roommates" as mommy's house and car are gone thanks to @iyaboojofespris that everyone wants me to forget and move on. She deeply ruined me! To think one person lied and evidence linked to her phone, can't apologise and lied under oath. Those using Journalists for their evil deeds cost the real ppl who need us. I can no longer do Investigative Journalism after 25 years 1994. I lost $5M in wages, revenues, adverts, and assignments @HNNAfrica which I shut down. Thanks for your past help. Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural group, gave the warning on Friday, noting that there are ominous sings of bleak future for the country, The Breaking Times reports.

Nnia Nwodo, who is the president general of Ohanaeze Ndigbo,  stated this in a statement by his media aide, Emeka Attamah, warning that the clouds are gathering and Nigerians must beware of another civil war.

He was responding to the Tuesday election of the 9th National Assembly leadership, that saw the South-East ending up without any leadership positions.

"There is no future for Nigeria. As long as the north decides to be unreasonable and realistic, this country can never get better.

"The country is only heading for implosion as long as equity and fairness is denied some sections of the country.

"The only solution is restructuring or the country will eventually hit the rocks. If not today, tomorrow. What does it cost to be fair and live in peace ?

"Certainly, nobody will blame anybody if emotion runs high and the thread holding the country becomes thin and snaps .

"No condition is permanent in life. There are ominous signs and the clouds are gathering.

"Let the remaining generation that witnessed the Nigerian civil war recant and save the country from the cataclysm that will envelop her if the upcoming generation are allowed to inherit the callousness and wickedness pervading the land now. Nigerians beware of civil war," the statement read.

According to the Sekem crooner, all he needed at that time was N350K but no one could help him. He further revealed that he went to Ubi Franklin, told him about his problem and Ubi Franklin helped out with N100K and also gave him some clothes.

MC Galaxy who gifted Ubi Frankin N3m for helping him pay his house rent 7 years ago, however noted in his post that he can't pay back the favours and values the MMMG Boss had added to his life.

He wrote;

This life is funny, seven years ago I needed help to pay house the total I needed was 350k. So I asked a lot people for help, and no one could help me, so one of those days I went to Ubi Franklin house that I needed help with rent and he gave me 100k and cloths and I was able to hustle money to add and pay my rent, because at the time 100k then meant a lot to me it was 10 million Naira to me, so every time I had a new song to drop I will go to him and play for him " I go Calabar" to "Sekem" etc. So I know I cannot pay him back for the favors and values but this is a token of appreciation to say thank you for everything @ubifranklintriplemg

armed robbers attacked Kemi Olunloyo home in Ibadan
Journalist Kemi Olunloyo was reportedly robbed at her home in Ibadan. She shared the horrific experience on social media platform …

She said;
#BREAKING MY TRAUMA JUST HEIGHTENED!
5 armed robbers entered here at 1:45am 6/14/19. They smashed the doors into the house with crowbars, tied us up at gunpoint, cutlass, crowbars, cleared all electronics and beat us. My mom, sister's house girl and everyone was begging for their lives. I was having a panic attack pleading the blood of Jesus while already dealing with #PTSD @richkjtmusic devices are gone. All his new music and phone gone as he records at night. He came out of his room cos he heard me screaming "Don't kill me!" Help us. Devices can be replaced, not lives. Now 2:50am Ibadan now. I'm typing from an old 4G Android stored away not used anymore since 2014. I cannot even reach Governor @seyi_amakinde who lives behind us or police as WhatsApp is on my phone they took. This is security in Nigeria for you. This is why I asked for guns to be legalized in Nigeria like America. It could happen to anyone. Pls someone call any police you know. My police list is on my phone they took. I remain helpless😣😣 #KemiOlunloyo
