Buhari's Cabinet: Tinubu Under Serious Criticism For Allegedly Standing Against Nomination Of Ambode For Ministerial Appointment

Posted: 19 Jun 2019 10:29 AM PDT

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu

The National Leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has been called on by the Save Lagos Group (SLG) to stop playing God over rumoured plan to appoint the immediate past Governor of the State, Akinwunmi Ambode into the yet-to-be-constituted cabinet of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The group said it was reacting to a purported statement by the former Lagos governor that he (Tinubu) would resign his membership of the APC if President Buhari nominates Ambode as ministerial nominee from the State.

In a statement by the SLG's Convener, Comrade Adeniyi, Alimi Sulaiman, on Tuesday, the group stated that "Tinubu has turned himself to Alpha and Omega of the State and Nigeria politics, forgetting that only God gives and takes power and no human being can act like God", Daily Post reports.

The Save Lagos Group (SLG), maintained that "all the ideas of Tinubu in the political armament of the State and Nigeria was parochial and self serving.

"Ambode is more qualified than Tinubu because Ambode is educationally qualified to hold any position including Minister in the country, because he doesn't have 'Chicagogate' on his educational qualification like Mr. Godfatherism."

Oxford University Receives $189 million For AI Studies From US CEO

Stephen Schwarzman

Oxford University has received 150 million pounds ($188.6 million) from an American billionaire, for a new institute that will study the ethical implications of artificial intelligence and computing technologies.

According to a report by Miami Herald, The donation from Stephen Schwarzman, CEO of the private equity firm Blackstone, will also fund a center to house all of the university's humanities subjects in a single space to encourage collaborative study.

"AI is going to be the fourth revolution, and it is going to impact jobs, excellence, efficiency," Schwarzman told the BBC. "It is a force for amazing good and also a potential force for not good."

Schwarzman compared the rise of AI to the rise of the internet, which was launched by computer scientists who thought it was "cool."

"And parts of it were cool — interconnectedness, globally the ability to communicate, it is pretty amazing," he said. "What they forgot were all the negatives, this inability to control cyber bullying, lack of freedom of speech — all kinds of negative things."

He says ethics and AI is "one of the major issues of our age."

Oxford's vice chancellor, Louise Richardson, says the gift is "a significant endorsement of the value of the humanities in the 21st century."

Schwarzman co-founded Blackstone, which has some $512 billion assets under management, making it a major investment firm.

In recent years, he has made other sizeable donations to educational institutions. Last October, he gave $350 million to establish the MIT Schwarzman College of Computing, which will also address the challenges of AI.

In 2015, Mr. Schwarzman donated $150 million to alma mater Yale University and gave $40 million to the Inner-City Scholarship Fund, which provides tuition assistance to underprivileged children attending Catholic schools in New York.

What Cancer Season Means For Your Zodiac Sign

Posted: 19 Jun 2019 04:39 AM PDT

  • Cancer season starts on June 21 and ends July 22.
  • There are 12 astrological seasons total, each coinciding with the 12 signs of the zodiac.
  • Every season means something different for your sign, and Cancer season is all about emotional flip-flopping (sorry).

It's that time of the month, folks-er, well that other time of the month: the start of a new astrological season. (ICYDK, there are 12 astrological seasons, and just like the weather seasons, each brings its own distinct vibe to your zodiac sign.) Ready or not, Cancer season is here, and it's about to make you feel All. The. Feels.

Running from June 21 to July 22, Cancer season is all about connecting with people you love (awww), while also dreaming about the things you want out of life. Heres what else you can expect this season, according to Donna Page , a certified astrologer in Atlanta.

What does Cancer season mean for your sign?
Cancer is a water sign, which means it's fluid and constantly moving (like, ya know, water), Page explains. During Cancer season, youre more likely to waver between whats happening in reality and whats going down in your imagination. Basically, it's prime time for some emotional flip-flopping. (Fun!)

First, the good stuff: Cancer season has a heavy focus on surrounding yourself with loved ones. "Its super strong for wanting to connect with friends and family," Page says. Suddenly, you might have a craving for an old-school trip to the lake with your fam or a special night with just the girls. Whatever it is, spending time with the people you love will help you feel blissed-out and recharge your batteries.

Still, since this is an emotional time, some pretty intense stuff can follow those warm and fuzzy feels. "Theres a big dream energy thats very powerful," Page explains. "Youll have a deep desire to have the ideal life. Youll want more opportunities and wonder why theyre not there." That can make you feel frustrated AF when everything you've dreamed up doesn't just magically happen.

Unfortunately, Page says this can seep into all areas of your life-relationships, career, living situation, etc. "Sometimes it can stir up resentment, jealousy, or frustration that its taking effort or work to get what you want," she cautions. (Deep breaths, y'all.)

These feelings shower down for everyone, but Page says Cancer, Gemini, and Capricorn will feel this season the strongest.

How will Cancer season affect the rest of your year?
It kinda depends on how you react to the urges you have during Cancer season. More than anything else, it's an awesome time to tighten your bonds with the people you love and wrap yourself in all the warm-fuzzy feelings that come with that.

But if you get bogged down with focusing on what you dont have in life, you could end up phoning it in at work or picking fights with your S.O.-and that won't lead to anything good.

Instead, try channeling that frustration into motivation (think Elle Woods' study montage in Legally Blonde), like looking for a new job or talking with your partner about whats **actually** pissing you off. By putting in the #werk, you can actually come out the other side a better, more fulfilled person. Or, at least, thats the goal. Why not go for it with everything ya got?

Whats the next zodiac season?
Next up is Leo season, which kicks off on July 23. That can make you feel fiery, and more than a few diva moments might crop up. Until then, spend some time reveling in the QT spent with your family and friends.

This is how it feels to be with a partner who goes on and off

Posted: 19 Jun 2019 04:37 AM PDT

One of the most gut-wrenching things that could ever happen to anyone is to have a partner who goes on and off; someone who is only consistent at being greatly inconsistent.

Many people are familiar with this relationship struggle, just like this young woman here, who tells Pulse about how her relationship has so far been a nerve-racking cycle of disappearances and reappearances by her boyfriend. It must have been the same thing Simi was feeling when she composed her emotional song, "Gone For Good."

Inconsistently great

With a partner that's inconsistent, there are momentary flashes of all the beautiful things that you desire and treasure in a partner and in a relationship. They know how to give you that thrill that borders on drug-induced ecstasy, and this is not just in a sexual context.

An inconsistent partner could be the babe with whom conversations are effortless, with whom romance is unforced; with whom sex is always like well-rehearsed ballet – gliding beautifully from step to step, from blissful level unto the next until a perfect crescendo is breathlessly attained.

An inconsistent partner could be the guy who does these same things and more. He weaves his life around yours so delicately; drawing you in with a foretaste of everything you long for in a partner. He's the gentleman you want. He's the broad shoulders to cry on that you've always desired. He's the one whose face you see beside you when you imagine your big, Nigerian wedding. He's so sweet, so nice, so charming and so... everything.

But that only tells part of the story with such people.

Eventual disappointment

Whether it is with the inconsistent male or the female, what follows the gloriously affectionate moments are dreadful disappearing acts that leave you dumbfounded, starved, confused, crazy, empty and self-condemning.

Their attachment to you is in a way that makes it easy for them to untangle themselves after making you open up, trust, become tied to them, dependent on them for emotional balance and mindlessly slip into love with them.

"It is the most frustrating thing ever," says Inem, a Lagosian who was in a relationship with an inconsistent partner for about a year.

The first thing every inconsistent partner does to you is to leave you in a perpetual loop of frustration. You know what is obtainable. You know the amount of sweetness that partner is capable of, you have seen and experienced in some measure, the levels of romantic completeness that can be attained with that person but there's only so little of it being offered to you that it drives you so, so crazy.

It's like getting someone hooked on a drug and then depriving them of that drug. In this context, one of the withdrawal symptoms is frustration.

You cannot have them when you please. You only have them when they show up, and that is always at their discretion.
"I stayed too long in that relationship, I must say. But I knew I could no longer bear it when it was obvious I would never be able to depend on the guy." says Inem.

Inconsistent partners always come back, most times when you are tired of their bull crap and have decided to move on.

They come with reasons and excuses and make promises to do better. Most times, their reasons are really not reasons. They glorify excuses that could be overcome with a little effort – like being busy, or losing a phone, or not having credit and so on and so forth.

Because they know you so well and know all the buttons to push, you find yourself giving them one more chance. And after that yet another chance, and another and yet another. You know it is unlikely that they'll do better as promised but they'll sound so convincing that you find yourself allowing them back in, even as something in you screams.

"You fool!"

What this regular cycle of disappearance, repentance, and reappearance does is that your mind becomes messed up. It becomes so difficult to tell what is right and what is not.

"I was ready to move on but then he showed up again. I do love him a lot and I don't know what's right or wrong now," writes an anonymous Pulse reader to our agony aunt column – Relationship Talk With Bukky.

"This guy would disappear for days on end, and I'd be worried sick. He always came back with a different excuse all the time." Inem says.

You find yourself wallowing in a pool of self-condemnation at some point. You wonder if you are too demanding, or whether you have too much of a chocking presence.

You'll find yourself wondering if you are asking for too much, you'll find yourself settling for more and more of their crap, losing self-respect just to get a little scraps of them because, somehow, regardless of their on-and-off nature, they manage to retain an incontestable ability power to feed your soul, excite your mind and set your body on fire. It's such a crazy place to be.

With different inconsistent partners, the pattern may have little variations but you can be sure that underwhelming moments of loneliness will be hot on the heels of divine, giddy moments of true romance.

A [difficult] way out

"The good news is, it is never too late to turn things around," writes Aja Baise for Elite Daily.

"You can demand to be treated a certain way and hold firm to expectations you have set for a person. You can stand by your relationship standards and wait for Mr. Right to come along, instead of trying filling a void with Mr. Wrong.

"Ultimately, you are faced with two choices: You can be the woman who wins and gets the incredible guy, or you can be the woman who keeps bending over backward for the inconsistent guy. That woman will always lose," she adds.

Truer words on this haven't been said.

Why won’t my ex just stop texting me?

Posted: 19 Jun 2019 04:32 AM PDT

Why won't my ex just stop texting me?
Have you ever been in a situation where you broke up with someone but the person refuses to go away? This is for you.

With phone calls, texts and social media being readily-available tools for monitoring and staying in touch, it has never been easier for exes to keep tabs on partners that are meant to be in their past, partners they should be moving on from, rather than looking back upon.

How and why your relationship ended would often play a role in an ex' decision to regularly reach out after a relationship had ended. If your ex was the one who initiated the breakup in the first place but then decides to start texting you again out of the blue, it can be baffling.

But according to Psychologist, Samantha Rodman; "the likeliest possibility is that they are reflecting about the relationship and are missing you.

"Most of the time this would be for romantic or sexual reasons, but sometimes they might just want to be friends again."

Rodman adds that if the relationship ended on bad terms or your ex feels the breakup was their fault, they may be texting you out of guilt and a desire to make things right.

If the relationship ended because you called time on it, then your ex may be reaching out in order to get a long-awaited closure. This happens a lot and could be helpful if both partners are really up for it. However, there's no need to force the point if one partner shows a reluctance to make this happen.

Therapist, Anna Poss, says that "If they felt the split was abrupt, confusing or left them with unresolved feelings, an ex might reach out to gain clarity."

She then adds that an ex reaching out could also be a way of trying to get back, desiring a second chance.

"Resuming communication could also be a way of testing the waters. Whether they are hoping to get back together or develop a friendship, texting is a low-risk way to gauge your interest," she says.

If you're not sure what your ex's intentions are in resuming contact (and you actually care to know), Poss said not to waste time analyzing all the possibilities in your head — just ask.

"We can't read minds and any assumptions could create more stress and conflict," she said. "You can say something along the lines of, 'We haven't spoken in a while and I was surprised to hear from you, so I wanted to check in.'"

That helps you find out what their intent is, and whether you want to entertain that interest or block them for good in order to find complete healing and move on.

The hypocrisy of seeking god-fearing partners

Posted: 19 Jun 2019 04:28 AM PDT

The hypocrisy of seeking god-fearing partners
Chances are that you just like the idea of a God-fearing partner, you really do not want one.

To be God-fearing is an established, transgenerationally-relevant prerequisite to dating and marriage for young Nigerians.

Over and over again it is said, emphasized and repeated by young people, especially ladies who are still waiting to meet the love of their lives, that a God-fearing partner is usually the best.

Someone who fears God, the popular opinion goes, will not do any or more of the unsavoury relationship/marriage tragedies that young Nigerians have come to fear so much.

Think domestic violence, unfaithfulness, side chicks, wanton disregard for marital responsibilities, etc.

Practice and experience has shown, however, that God-fearing isn't really what people want. As a matter of fact, the continuous demand for a God-fearing partner seems to border on hypocrisy. Ignorance, at best.

It appears that what most people want is something else; some other idea that describes a partner that has a form of godliness but falls very short of the wholesome concept itself.

Here's how.

It is not unusual to see someone who desires a 'God-fearing' partner to not care how that person treats others, insofar as they are good to them and them only. It's also not uncommon to hear people express a desire for premarital sex with the same breath with which they express the need for a 'God-fearing' partner.

These are just few examples of how people contradict themselves in the ceaseless quest for God-fearing.

Now this is not an article of condemnation. Surely this writer can't be castigating people's lifestyle and/or relationship with the great guy up above the world so high.

In essence, the idea here is to point out the disparity between what people often mean when they say they want God-fearing and what the concept of God-fearing truly means.

Being that we all [Nigerians] belong to a deeply religious society majorly split in lines of Christianity, Islam and traditional religious beliefs, the correct idea of God-fearing can't possibly sound alien to anyone.

Doctrines, teachings, morals and values enshrined in the holy books all often point in the same direction – the standard of God [whichever version you believe in] stands sure. Unbendable. You either get it right, or not.

God-fearing therefore is the one who follows it all – proper treatment of others, sexual purity, love for humanity and God, the whole nine yards.

But as the eighth paragraph above shows, not too many people who claim to seek God-fearing really care about this tall order. As a matter of fact, some people who claim to desire God-fearing partners always insist on dating only people who actively break the code of God – especially on sexual matters.

Babe: "I want a tall, dark, pink-lipped, God fearing partner."

Same babe: "Ah, me I cannot marry someone that does not believe in premarital sex o. I have to test the goods before I buy them, please."

As has been written above, it is either these people intentionally practice this hypocrisy or are just ignorant of the concept. Maybe don't just know what they want.

In my opinion, people just want to be treated right; to have an assurance that they are not wasting their time and effort on their partner and their relationship, and that they are not going to be cheated on.

These people, often times with good intentions, just want to be treated in the best way they know, and regardless of how pseudo-Godly that way is, they just lump it under the umbrella of God-fearing.

If everyone thinks really deep about it, we'll all see that way too many people who desire God-fearing do not even want that. All they really want is someone who respects their personal definition of the concept.

And almost every time, personal definitions of the concept are either hypocritical, or ignorant.

Is it over dramatic to block an ex on Social media platforms after a breakup?

Posted: 19 Jun 2019 04:24 AM PDT

Is it over dramatic to block an ex on Social media platforms after a breakup?
How necessary is it to block an ex off your social media space? Is it over-dramatic to do so?

Remaining connected to an ex partners social media platforms has been likened to a situation where you leave a window open in your house so as to peek in on festivities happening in a neighbouring mansion, where you're not welcome in.

In a bid to find happiness and move past the hurt and confusion of being dumped, minimizing contact with your ex is always advised.

Popular opinion makes you believe that the farther you move from the person that hurt you, the easier [relatively] it will be to put the whole breakup wahala behind you.

But how true is this? Do you truly move on faster from a breakup when you block your ex than when you don't?

Isn't it possible that staying away and blocking that ex from your life will only make you miss them more and worsen the ache to have them back?

Afterall, absence is said to make the heart grow fonder. And realistically, not everyone actually ends up hating their exes.

Many ex partners end up being good friends who eventually do a lot of great stuff together despite the end of their romantic relationship.
Again, different strokes for different folks. People always end up handling their problems in the manner they deem most convenient.

And that's just right. People can and should always do what's best for them, so far they are happy and content.

My opinion on the matter
Personally, I think that blocking an ex can never be wrong no matter how you want to view it. The choice to cut them out of your life after a breakup is valid majorly because if the relationship is over and you need to move on from that chapter, doing away with anything that may drag you back to the past needs to be kept faraway from you.

Blocking an ex does not mean that you are angry, or that you never want to be friends with them ever again, or that you are resentful. One of these may be true, yes, but that does not necessarily have to be the truth always.

Blocking an ex, in essence, is for your own good. For you to move on without their 'distractive' presence, or having them pop into your DM when they like, messing up your progress in the life after them.

And if you're concerned that it will come off as petty, you shouldn't be. Yes, maybe your ex will think you're being petty but you cannot control what they think about you. What you need to do instead, is make sure you create the appropriate conditions for you to heal and if that means you have to take them off social media for a while, then so be it.

Omawumi croons on topics that matter on her new album 'In Her Feelings'

Omawumi croons on topics that matter on her new album 'In Her Feelings'
About a month ago, Nigerian singer, Omawumi's debut album, 'Wonder Woman' clocked 10. Since that album dropped, she has released two albums, 'Lasso of Truth' and 'Timeless.'

While Wonder Woman was not as critically acclaimed as its two younger siblings, it was still a commendable body of work; a needed happenstance that set Omawumi on her path to a good career that she can be proud of.

On Friday, June 15, 2019, the singer released In Her Feelings, her fourth album in 10 years. It was a cross-section of songs that offer an insight into Omawumi's mind state on topics of of love, politics, personal struggles, life goals, emotional awareness and abuse.

'In Her Feelings'
The album opens up with the brilliantly produced afro-fusion, afro&B 'Without You.' It's a declaration or re-affirmation of love to no other that her husband. The song seems sincere and true as there is an admittance of imperfection on her part.

'For My Baby' is a song of appreciation running on a hi-life beat with afro-folk percussion. Omawumi urges listeners to applaud her baby for the way he loves her. The song slightly suffer on songwriting, as does the 'Without You.'

'Mr. Sinnerman' is socio-political commentary about the dire state of things in Nigeria. The reggae song is an indictment of the role we all play in the sad state of Nigerian affairs. She sings, 'Mr. Sinnerman, don't you know, say we all be criminal, don't you know, look how we got here..."

On substance, the song is up there with the best on this album. In fact, it might be the most well-balanced song on the album.

The next song, 'Away' is afrobeat from the loins of Fela himself. Topically, Omawumi tries to stress how we should do away with all drawbacks, strife and heartbreak so we can live the best of life.

The songwriting on the second verse seems of lesser brilliance than on the first verse. The percussion is brilliance, and the melody is good, but not unique.

With 'True Loving,' we are back to the theme of love on an afro-sentimental ballad. Mostly, it dwells on adulation of a certain man. For the first time, Omawumi seems to be singing about circumstantial scenario, though she sings from a first-person perspective. It also touches on sex.

'Tabansi' runs on a beautiful afro-folk beat with the beauty of guitar chords and psychedelic trumpets. It is a heartbreak song that questions why a lover is reciprocating love with abuse. It seems a song about the imperfections of love, but on where it appears on the track list, it sticks out.

'Green Grass' is afro-soul. It talks about the necessary and mature topic of awareness and assurance. The way Omawumi sings on the song, one wagers that because she tells us that assurance is sometimes unattainable, it's better to be aware. The message is passed with metaphors of snakes and green grass.

This is applicable to several areas of life that require a decision; love, politics, emotions and so forth. It warns us to be careful of what we choose so we don't regret - the other side might seem an option, but is it a good option?

'Green Grass' is the perfect summation to the mature topics Omawumi sings about on this album. She croons after a testing period like she is finally in a happy place.

On the song, Omawumi is like a chaperone who wants her audience to find her kind of happiness in love, country and political alliance from the start of adulthood. Such detail, we stan.

It seems Omawumi just wants to make different songs about the important issues of life that are dear to her with seven songs and she does that. But for me, there seems a little disconnect when socio-political songs come in between love songs, and when a song about emotional and physical abuse comes after songs about the beauty of love.

Sonically, I like the track list, but topically, I feel the smooth segues are off.

Thus, I feel the track list should have been;

Away

Sinnerman

Tabansi

Without You

For My Baby

True Loving

Green Grass

This way, In Her Feelings starts with caution on how good life can be if taken it easy. Then, it goes to underline socio-political problems on 'Mr. Sinnerman,' before the problems of emotional abuse on 'Tabansi.' This way, the problem phase is comes first.

'Without You' then starts an era of happiness and joy which ends with 'Green Grass' that preaches how awareness can make us avoid the bad patches in life and in love.

Final Thoughts
In her Feelings is a beautiful multi-genre experience, but it's short. This makes it a set up for the critic. With concise projects, criticism is hard because their weaknesses are easily digestible than on longer projects.

Generally, Omawumi excels topically and with her beat selection. The songwriting sometimes feels weak in certain patches, but it's no cause for alarm.

You know the topical maturity that Jay Z displayed on 4:44? This is like the family-oriented, socio-politically aware Nigerian woman's version without the top-heavy bars. This is grown woman music.

Omawumi sings like a woman evolving and in a happy place. During the live performance she hosted for the album at Twin Towers, Lekki, she acknowledged this reality and claimed she was happy in every way, "There was a time when I felt I loved my husband more than he loved me, but now, I'm in a happy place spiritually, financially, emotionally, sexually..."

This is a woman whose mind state is evolving beyond random topics to the things that truly matter.

‘The Bling Lagosians’ a movie by Bolanle Austen Peters' is an even better film than we first thought it is

Posted: 19 Jun 2019 06:10 AM PDT

If the teaser for 'The Bling Lagosians' is all you have seen, your desire to watch a depiction of the display of lavish Lagos life, royalty attires, glamorous and expensive cars is not misplaced.

In all ramifications, the official trailer, which didn't particularly reveal so much about the plot of the movie, whets the appetite of film buffs and Lagos lovers.

Though short on tension and suspense, 'The Bling Lagosians' offers a jolt of reality or two and a number of laughs.

While the audience anticipates the movie's entry in cinema houses, here are the 5 things we learned from the 'The Bling Lagosians' private screening.

Opulence is well detailed

The opening montage of the film, 'The Bling Lagosians' readily hints the audience on what to expect as Akin Holloway - played by Gbenga Titilayo - narrates the beginning of the fall of his family legacy. Bolanle Austen Peters portrays the Holloways as the influential and powerful family from the city of Lagos with a formidable conglomerate, St Ives. From the decor of the offices to their cars and the ambiance of their palatial home, the luxurious lifestyle of the Holloways and their societal friends were well captioned and detailed. Relatably and like one of several billionaires in Lagos, Akin has a list of acquisitions that include choice homes across the globe, a private jet, limited edition wristwatches, automobiles and yacht - which he relaxes with his lover - to his name. The Holloways, as well as their society friends, unbridled love for flamboyance, was well depicted by Bolanle Austen Peters in 'The Bling Lagosians'. In a nutshell, BAP properly documented her Lagos experience, which relatable to other upper-class Lagosians.

Good use of a robust cast

In the last few years, films with robust cast get the Nollywood audience weary as many ends up not living up to the billing of the hype associated with the big names. The trailer of 'The Bling Lagosians' might appear like a film lacking enthusiasm but Bolanle Austen-Peters' directorial debut boasts a reasonable and very relatable storyline. Unlike many of the films in the league of the robust cast, none of the popular faces took the shine out of the others. Each character depended on the entire cast to nail it, hence, it was difficult for any popular face to try to outshine others. Despite the Holloways being at the center of the story, other characters that included Mopelola's society friends, and Akin's lover, friends, and business associates had an overall impact on what will be presented to movie lovers on June 28.

Storyline is relatable

'The Bling Lagosians' tells the story of a powerful Lagos family, The Holloways. The matriarch - played by Elvina Ibru - prepares for a flamboyant 51st birthday party, while her husband fights to prevent the family's company and legacy from being ruined despite his frivolities. The first daughter of the Holloways, Demidun played by Osas Ighodaro - is a success and pride to the family but she's facing a serious challenge threatening to crumble her marriage to gorgeous pilot, George - played by Jimmy Odukoya. The second daughter, Tokunbo - played by Sharon Ooja - is the art-inclined member of the family, who happens the most stable amongst the clan. As each member of the Holloway family work to solve their problems, the Asset Management Corporation prepares to foreclose on the family business and edge the Holloway out even after the death of his godfather and a lifeline from the state Governor.

As relatable as the storyline appears, Bolanle Austen Peters weaves it into an interesting film spanning a cinema running time of over one hour. Though it might not be long before movie buffs figure out the possible end after 30 minutes, 'The Bling Lagosians' has the potential to keep the audience glued to their seats till the end.

'The Bling Lagosians isn't a slapstick but...

'The Bling Lagosians' might not necessarily compete with a Hollywood low budget drama as expected from BAP, who has proved her worth in stage plays, it is definitely not a slapstick. The elements of a drama, which are plot, character, thought, diction, spectacle, and song were all met in 'The Bling Lagosians'. It is a commendable effort as a directorial debut and second production with a good choice of cast. One thing BAP got right was casting, the right pegs were plugged in the right holes for the overall success of the film.

Interesting characters that you should watch out for
Bolanle Austen Peters was on point in casting the characters for 'The Bling Lagosians'. The casting, which she revealed lasted two months, saw some of your favourites smoothly interpreting roles that suit their personalities. Some of the interesting characters you should watch out for when 'The Bling Lagosians' starts screening are Akin Holloway played by Gbenga Titilayo, Tokunbo Holloway played by Sharon Ooja, Honourable Alabi Ojo aka Baba Eko played by Jide Kosoko, Adunni Fernandez aka Iya Oge played by Toyin Abraham, Nnamdi Agu played by Alex Ekubo, Oge Briggs played by Winihin Jemede, and Mopelola Holloway played by Elvina Ibru.

Overall, 'The Bling Lagosians' is not a bad effort for Bolanle Austen Peters' directorial debut. In the same vein, one of BAP's associate, Kunle Afolayan's first attempt as a director, 'Irapada' was a mild success but it introduced Afolayan as a director. He has gone ahead to position himself as one of Nollywood's visionary directors.
