| Ebuka Obi Uchendu: Blame Drake Over Anthony Joshua’s Loss To Andy Ruiz Posted: 03 Jun 2019 12:00 AM PDT  British-Nigerian heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua has emerged as the latest sports star to be a victim of the 'Drake curse' after he was beaten last night by Mexican boxer, Andy Ruiz Jnr. Back in March, the 28-year-old boxer posted a picture with Drake and vowed to break the Drake Curse, a phenomenon whereby any team or athlete the Canadian rapper is pictured with ends up losing a big event. 'Bout to break the curse #June1st,' he captioned the photo with Drake. Before his fight with Ruiz Jnr, Joshua admitted that the Drake curse is real after his initial opponent Jarrell Miller failed a drug test. 'You know about the Drake curse? It is real though. Do you know what is weird actually? I took a picture with Drake before Miller got banned.' 'Miller had his drug test and the whole fight went to pot. The fight got cancelled,' he said during his appearance on The Michael Kay Show in May. Joshua has now joined the list of sports stars including Arsenal forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa and Conor McGregor among others who have been affected by the Drake curse. After Kurzawa was pictured with Drake, his team Paris Saint-Germain suffered 5 – 1 thrashing at the hands of Lille, the club's heaviest league defeat in 19 years. In her write-up, the 63-year-old appealed to anyone suffering depression to seek help and deal with the root cause of their hollowness. According to Irabor, getting married, pregnant or buying material things, would not make them feel any better when the root cause of their depression hasn't been dealt with. She wrote; I was about 12 when I first saw a Rolls Royce. It's owner was a guest of mum. Did I show off on that day? I earned renewed respect in the hood on Akinwunmi street.. well at least for few days! Sigh!! Yesterday I took the liberty of posing by this vintage monster of a ride In Warri. Na pose I pose o, I didn't say it's mine before you people will come for me!! I remember thinking while in the throes of depression that as soon as my new ride arrived I would feel better. I didn't feel better. And that's how it goes on; when I get married I will feel better, when I am rich I will feel better, when I have children I will feel better, when I get that designer bag I will feel better, when I move into my new house I will feel better. Truth is, things or people don't make us feel better until we fix the cancer within and own up to the fact that we feel hollow within and need help. We carry around burdens and pains that we need to offload so we can travel light. We cannot fake true happiness, it expires as soon as we are alone and the reality of what we are masking hits us. We can lie to the world about how well we are on the outside but we can't deceive our selves. Life is about finding joy in little abundance and trusting that our current situation is only a part of our long journey….This present challenge is only a comma in a sentence and not the full stop… Focus on what truly counts and live one day at a time. Justice Augustine Ityoyiman presiding over the High Court OF Markudi, will on July 11 rule on the application brought before it by counsel to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomhole in the libelous suit instuted against him by Benue Governor Samuel Ortom.The Benue State Governor, had dragged the APC National Chairman to court over a press conference in which Oshiomhole is claimed to have made libelous statements against him(Ortom).When the case came up Friday, counsel to Ortom, Samuel Irabor, who appeared in court with two witnesses, told the court that he was ready to go on, but that he was served with a motion on notice on Thursday by the counsel to the APC National Chairman, which he has responded to.However, counsel to Oshiomhole, Festus Jumbo, told the court that the application is praying the court to strike out the suit for failure of the governor to join the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Vanguard Media Limited, publishers of the Vanguard Newspaper, and other print and social media platforms in the suit, The Sun News reports.Responding, Irabor told the court that the case can be decided between Governor Ortom, Chairman Oshiomhole and the APC without joining the NTA, Vanguard Media and various social media platforms.READ ALSO: Dr. Bertola, Chairman Of Bayelsa State Independent Electoral Commission, Reigns, States Reason He told the court that Oshiomhole has owned up to the allegation and said he sourced his information from third parties which included leaders of Benue State APC and a NGO, but added that the names of the said APC leaders were not stated. He argued that since Oshiomhole had pleaded justification and fair comment, there was no need to drag the NTA and Vanguard Media into the matter. Governor Ortom's counsel contended that the issue for determination was in regards to allegations by Oshiomhole and APC against the governor to the effect that he had a hand in the death of the two catholic priests, and claims of mismanagement of bailout funds in Benue State as alleged by Oshiomhole in his press conference of July 27, 2018. He prayed the court to dismiss the application and award cost against Oshiomhole for wasting the time of the court as they are already done with pre-trials and the business of the day was the hearing of the substantive suit, which he is ready with his witnesses. Between then and now, the death penalty was suspended, reinstated, there was a gas chamber and then death by lethal injection and all the while Cooper sat waiting to die, always proclaiming his innocence.  The then governor ordered for a new DNA test to prove that Kevin Cooper was an innocent man. California's new Governor, Gavin Newsom, ordered additional testing in February 2019. Kim Kardashian decided to visit the prison because she wanted to see Kevin one-on-one. It reported that after chatting with Kevin, Kim believed that he was innocent. West replied, "I wouldn't be able to explain that as much just because, you know, I'm not a doctor. "I can just tell you what I'm feeling at the time, and I feel a heightened connection with the universe when I'm ramping up. It is a health issue.  "This — it's like a sprained brain, like having a sprained ankle. And if someone has a sprained ankle, you're not going to push on him more. "With us, once our brain gets to a point of spraining, people do everything to make it worse. "You have this moment [where] you feel everyone wants to kill you. You pretty much don't trust anyone. "When you're in this state, you're hyper-paranoid about everything, everyone. This is my experience, other people have different experiences. "Everyone now is an actor. Everything's a conspiracy. You feel the government is putting chips in your head. You feel you're being recorded. You feel all these things," West said. West recounted being diagnosed with bipolar disorder two years ago and described his experience with an involuntary psychiatric hold in 2016. Further explaining his experience, he said, "They have this moment where they put you, they handcuff you, they drug you, they put you on the bed, and they separate you from everyone you know. "That's something that I am so happy that I experienced myself so I can start by changing that moment," he said. West first shared his bipolar disorder diagnosis in 2018 on his album, 'Ye'. He referenced taking medication to treat his condition in his conversation with Letterman. "If you don't take medication every day to keep you at a certain state, you have a potential to ramp up and it can take you to a point where you can even end up in the hospital. "And you start acting erratic, as TMZ would put it," he said in reference to his impromptu visit to the celebrity gossip website's headquarters, which sparked headlines. West told Letterman he's choosing to speak about his diagnosis because of a "strong stigma" around mental health. "People are allowed to say anything about it and discriminate in any way," West said. He said he is under a doctor's care, that he uses alternative treatment methods, but he thinks medication may work with others with bipolar disorder. Fans had speculations about his condition for years, particularly after he was hospitalized for a "psychiatric emergency" in November 2016 just after canceling his Saint Pablo tour. West seemingly confirmed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2018 with the release of 'Ye'. In April, his wife Kim Kardashian West also confirmed his diagnosis in an interview with Vogue, saying the couple had reached a "pretty good place"with his mental health. "It is an emotional process, for sure," the 38-year-old reality mogul told Vogue. "Right now everything is really calm. "But we can definitely feel episodes coming, and we know how to handle them." According to TMZ, the Cook County State's Attorney's Office filed these new charges on R.Kelly on Thursday, May 30, 2019, namely; 5 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, 4 counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault and 2 counts of criminal sexual assault. According to the documents released, R. Kelly is been accused of forceful penetration of his victim back in 2010. He's also accused of forcing contact between his penis and the alleged victim's mouth. The alleged victim is said to have been 18 as at the time of the incident and so were the three other alleged victims who were between 13 and 16. Kelly will reportedly be back in court next week to be arraigned on the new charges.  It would be recalled that earlier in the year, R.Kelly was charged in Chicago with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly written Mastercard Inc and Visa Inc requesting for details of credit cards used by Azeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley. The anti-graft agency said the cards it recovered from the artiste were used for alleged identity theft and credit card fraud. As stated in the document obtained by Punch, the EFCC wrote Mastercard and Visa on Monday, May 13, 2019, three days after the musoc star was arrested. The letter titled 'Investigation Activities' was signed by Dein Whyte, the Zonal Head, EFCC, Lagos.  The EFCC letter to Mastercards reads, "The commission is investigating a case of identity theft and electronic cards-related fraud in which the listed card information were recovered during investigation." However, the Commission in its letter to Visa asked the company to provide information about the last five transactions on each of three Visa cards recovered from Naira Marley, Punch reports. According to the newspaper, the first card with number 4921819410257431 was issued by Lloyds Bank Plc and bears the name Timea Fedorne Tatar. While the second card with number 4539782440624281 was issued by Barclays Bank Plc and bears the name Nicole Louise Maylon, and the third card with number 4757147207869807, issued by Santander UK Plc bears the name Sharon Broad. Also, in its letter to Mastercard, the EFCC asked the company to produce information about the last five transactions on a Mastercard card recovered from Naira Marley. Punch reports that the card with number 5354631405139323 was issued by Prepay Technologies Ltd and it bears the name Linh H. Mendez Rojas. Recall that the anti-graft agency filed 11 charges against the musician following his arrest on Friday, May 10, 2019. On Thursday, May 30, 2019, the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos granted Naira Marley bail on the conditions of a Two Million Naira (2,000,000) bond, and two sureties, one with landed property and the other, a Civil Servant, not lower than a level officer. The United States State Department has announced that anyone applying for a visa into the country will now have to submit their social media handles. According to BBC, applicants will also have to submit their phone numbers and five years' worth of email addresses. The policy is said to be part of the state department's effort to ensure national security and according to authorities, the policy would affect 14.7 million people annually. Stating the reason for the proposal in 2018, the department said, "National security is our top priority when adjudicating visa applications, and every prospective traveler and immigrant to the United States undergoes extensive security screening." "We are constantly working to find mechanisms to improve our screening processes to protect U.S. citizens, while supporting legitimate travel to the United States."  However, BBC reports that certain diplomatic and official visa applicants will be exempted from the stringent new measures. Recall that the US President Donald Trump in 2017 called for "extreme vetting" of visa application process to keep America and its citizens safe. In April, Pulse reported that Trump's administration is considering new measures to crack down on countries whose citizens have a high rate of overstaying their visas in the United States. In its 2017 Entry/Exit Overstay Report, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security described overstays as those who remain in the U.S. beyond their period of admission and for whom there is no identifiable evidence of a departure, an extension of period of admission, or transition to another immigration status. According to DHS' 2017 report, a high proportion of countries expected to be affected by the new measure include Nigeria, Chad, Eritrea, Liberia, Somalia, and Djibouti. Toke purchased a home in Lagos last year and enlisted the help of interior designer, Sandra Edoho to furnish up most areas. For those who don't know the latter, she is also the wife of former 'Who wants to be a millionaire host' – Frank Edoho.  Sandra handled the interior decoration for Toke's former Lekki home a while back and the latter seemed pleased enough to enlist her services again for her new home. How did the drama start? Weeks ago, Toke threw indirect shade on Instagram, saying it would have been better if she had imported the furniture for her home and worked with more than one interior decorator. This of course didn't catch anyone's attention, except those in the know who knew it was directed at Sandra. Toke unfollowed Sandra before the rant, and the latter waited until a day after to do the same.  Weeks after, Sandra surprisingly took to social media to give quite a detailed video tour of Toke's luxury closets and other parts of the home she designed. This of course made it seem as though they had settled whatever disagreements they had. Turns out they haven't. To the amazement of her fans, the actress released some nude pictures to mark her birthday and as expected, it trended on the Nigerian digital space. In an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats, the actress noted that she released the raunchy photos to let the world know the woman she had become. She said, "I wanted to show the world the woman I have become. I am grown, mature, daring, beautiful and confident."  Not the run-of-the-mill pre-birthday shoot, soon after the picture was released, some Nigerians did not waste time in expressing their opinions about the pictures. While reacting to the backlash she received from Nigerians, the actress said it was expected. "Well, as a public figure, one would usually expect such backlash. Not everyone will sing your praises at all times. Some will definitely find faults with the things you do. So it was expected," she said. Since her nude pictures surfaced online weeks ago, there has been a debate on whether the actress had a plastic surgery. However, she was quick to clear the air, saying, "My body is 100 per cent natural. I haven't altered my body by having a surgery yet. I only dedicate my time to keeping fit and watching my diet. I have never considered plastic surgery. My body is perfect and I love it. I keep in shape so no need for plastic surgery. "Keeping fit is easy because it is something that can be done anywhere and anytime. It is really easy to combine it with my job. It doesn't distract me at all. It helps me to also alleviate stress from my life. I love keeping fit." Sharing some of the secrets of her success, she said, "It might be hard work, opportunity, and consistency. I am passionate about my job, I take it really seriously. I try to give my best to every role I'm given to play. I put my soul in it.
