Andy Ruiz Jr slams Anthony Joshua vows to beat him again
Andy Ruiz JR has slammed Anthony Joshua's boxing ability and vowed to beat the Briton once again after claiming: "All he can do is just run around".

Mexican Ruiz Jr, 29, shocked the sporting world when he knocked AJ out on June 1 to become the unified world heavyweight champion.

A rematch is expected to take place later this year but Ruiz Jr insists their will be no return to the throne for Joshua.

He said: "The rematch is going to be the same. I am going to be more prepared and more ready.

"I know his flaws. I can do a lot better. The only thing that he can do is just run around, he's not good at boxing.

"People thought I wasn't going to do anything, I was too big, too overweight.
"I don't want to say all the things I am going to change.

"There is going to be a lot of changing, I am going to come at a better weight this time. It's going to be a hell of a fight."

Ruiz Jr was a late replacement for Jarrell Miller, after the American failed a drugs test, and pocketed a reported £5.5m for the fight.

And the California-born fighter used some of the cash to make amends for childhood mistakes.

Charly Boy 'I have been living in prison all my life'
In a chat with Potpourri, veteran Nigerian entertainer, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, aka Charly Boy, said; "it's been quite a long time that we were born into this prison…" The entertainer also made this known during his 69th birthday.

The singer said; " it's been quite a long time that we were born into this prison called Nigeria, and the first thing that comes to mind on a day like this is to visit those in hell. If we are in prison, then you can only imagine where they are.

"This is the only way we can reach out, the only way we can save a life.

"Unfortunately, majority of us don't even know we are in a dungeon. Unless we realize this, we will continue in this eternal anguish.

"But like I have always said, the survival of our country depends solely on the ability of our young men and women to break out of this prison by fire by force, whether them like'am or not."

The players alleged that they have only been paid half of the money.

Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick told ESPN that all the remaining allowances have been paid. According to ESPN, the Super Falcons also claimed that they are owed five days of daily allowance while at the World Cup.

The players are also demanding their share of the World Cup participation fee from FIFA, which is not scheduled to be paid out until September. The Super Falcons also staged a protest over bonuses after winning the 2016 African title in Cameroon.

"And we've counted at least eight charred bodies, but I think there may be more." According to initial investigations, the pipeline "belongs to the Pipeline Product Marketing Company (PPMC) and was undergoing maintenance when the explosion occurred", according to the same source.

"The accident took place on Saturday in the Kom Kom area of Oyigbo, while a team of engineers were carrying out maintenance work on the pipeline," Nnamdi Omono, spokesman for the Rivers State Police, told AFP.

"The number of victims is still unknown." On Sunday morning, the fire was contained, he added.

Singer Dbanj reveals how he’s managed to strike balance between music and marriage

Posted: 23 Jun 2019 02:59 PM PDT

Dbanj
Nigerian popstar, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo 'Dbanj' has explained how manages to joggle between a tight work schedule and his marital responsibilities.

In a recent chat with Vanguard, the 'Fall in Love' crooner explained how he has been able to successfully achieve this feat saying, "It's been very hard but the truth is one just has to understand what he/she is doing'.

He went on to say, 'when you see the actors or footballers in the club, they're just normal people, but when the footballers put on their jersey and get on the field, they're different people entirely.

I was with Obafemi Martins in the club recently and he was just a normal person but when he wears the jersey, he's a different person. So like I said, one just needs to understand what you do. As an entertainment person, it's part of me.

When I wear my costume as D'banj, I get to entertain my people but then I've my privacy and if you check it properly for the last decade, even if I'm out there I keep my private life very private.

If you know how to strike a balance and then God blesses you with the right wife that can understand then you're good", he said. Speaking further, he revealed the secret behind his ability to successfully stay relevant on the Nigerian music scene for more than a decade. "I really don't know, I just do what I do.

But I think it's just by doing what I know how to do best and being true to myself, being original. Also, believing in God and touching base with your foundation, where you're coming from. For a very long time I've always tried to understand my calling, I think that's one thing that has helped me to get to this level and it's been an interesting ride."

Actress Tonto Dikeh has a Message for people who depend on others for everything
Tonto Dikeh, has got a word for people who depend on others too much for everything with a battered sense of entitlement.

It is more than enough struggle that adulthood is quite a task for most people, having others unnecessarily depend on you for everything is tougher work.

Having not to be acknowledge of those many life struggles could be fine if no one is trying to double them by asking for unnecessary help without asking how you are coping.

We do not know what could have prompted the popular actress to school entitled dependent people, but it is hard not to see how right she is with every word.

On her Instagram page on Friday, June 21, Dikeh without mincing words simply asked dependent people to get a life.

She said: "Stop getting mad when someone can't be there for you. A lot of people are struggling wither being there for their da*n self!"

Nothing could be truer; everybody is going through something, yours is what you know, realities are hard for many out there too.

In addition to those words, the actress, however, said everybody will grow, but that to do that, others' struggles also have to be recognized.

"I promise you, we will all grow. But first recognize I have my own struggles too," she said.

Global Peace Index 2019, Puts Ghana As 4th Most Peaceful Cointry In Africa

Ghana emerges as the 4th most peaceful nation out of the 54 countries in Africa. This is according to the annual global report released on 12th June 2019 by the Global Peace Index, as the most recent world report findings.

Apart from focusing on Africa, the latest Global Peace Index report ranks a total of 163 sovereign states in the world. Ghana managed to be listed as the 44th most peaceful country in the World. This is a good reason for all Ghanaians to celebrate and continue in maintaining peace, which is a significant economic growth determinant.

Global Peace Index (GPI) 2019
Did you know that 2019 marks the year which witnessed the average "Global Peacefulness Index" increase for the first time in more than five years? According to the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), with it's headquarter based in Sydney, Australia, the average world peace index increased with 0.09 percent. Even though this might seem like a minimal improvement, it represents a total of 86 countries which generally improved in achieving peace and 76 states that decreased in terms of peace.

Ghana Improves in GPI rankings
Compared to the last year's GPI Africa results, Ghana managed to move a notch higher to replace Madagascar as the 4th most peaceful country in Africa. However, on a global scale, the West African country moved down three ranks. Last year, Ghana was internationally placed at position 41. Currently, it is ranked at position 44 globally.

African Countries Ahead of Ghana (Mauritius, Botswana, and Malawi)

The three countries ahead of Ghana in Africa peace rankings include Malawi, Mauritius, and Botswana. At the helm of the motherland continent, Mauritius managed to maintain its first position as the most peaceful state. However, the country dropped down 4 spots on the international scale. Mauritius is globally ranked at no. 24 by GPI, beating some of the world superpowers that include United States of America, England, France, and Italy.

At the second position in Africa, Botswana managed to maintain its 2018 position as the 2nd most peaceful African nation. Just like Ghana and Mauritius, Botswana went down by a single place on the international scale. Botswana is currently ranked at 30th position. Unlike Ghana and the top two African countries, Malawi managed to become number three in Africa, and recording an increase in rank in terms of GPI nation rankings. Malawi increased by 4 ranks internationally from position 7 in 2018 to position 3 in 2019.

Ghana: The peaceful and happy country

Happiness is a result of peace and vice versa. Ghana has managed to record some of the top positions in terms of both peace and happiness. According to the 2019 World Happiness Report, the West African country took position 7. Internationally, it also improved in happiness position from the last year's position 108 to 2019's position 98. According to the 2019 World Happiness Report, Mauritius also managed to be the number one county in the motherland in term of happiness.

Back in the year 2000, Ghana took the number one position as the most peaceful country in Africa. 9 years later, it remains a top 5 position, as a sign that the citizens and the entire nation are naturally peaceful. This is evident, for example, through the two general elections that witnessed very peaceful power transitions compared to other countries in Africa. In terms of international relations, the West African country is also known for its friendly interactions and relationships with neighboring states that include Nigeria. Internally, the country has very minimal internal conflicts compared to the rest of the international countries.

How does GPI come up with the positions?

Ghana has been experiencing an increase in abduction cases as one of the anti-peace occurrences, but still managed to be at position 4. This can make some people wonder, how does the GPI come up with the country rankings? The GPI report is handled and produced by the Australian based Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP). Unlike what most people assume, the report does not only dwell on peace as a secluded aspect of nations. It, however, focuses on peace by gauging its: Economic value, trends, and ways of developing peaceful societies.

Some essential facts about the 2019 GPI report include:
GPI research covered a total of 99.7% of the World's population hence reliability
A total of 23 Qualitative and Quantitative indicators are also used from trustworthy sources therefore accuracy

The 23 indicators are applied to three major thematic concerns. These include;
The level of Societal Safety and Security
The extent of Ongoing Domestic and International Conflict
A nation's degree of Militarization

Most peaceful countries of the World
Iceland position 1 – For a total of 11 years, Iceland still leads as the most peaceful country for over a decade
Positions 2 to 5 were taken by Newezeland (2), Portugal (3), Austria (4), and Denmark (5)
The highest improved country is Bhutan. Ever since the first GPI study that was done 12 years ago, Bhutan has improved with 43 positions

Least peaceful countries of the World
Afghanistan is at the last place
Syria is the second last nation in the World a step higher from 2018 where it was last
South Sudan, Yemen, and Iraq follow at the 3rd, 4th, and 5th least countries

World least peaceful regions
The Middle East and North Africa
The two areas contain 4 of the 10 poor performing countries

Most Peaceful region
Europe

Ghana stands firm as the 4th most peaceful country of the 54 African countries. This is according to the 2019 Global Peace Index report that ranks the West African country at position 44 of the global 163 countries. As the GPI index increases with only 0.09%, Ghana and its citizens continue to maintain high peace standards, which is a crucial ingredient in improving the country's economy.

AFCON 2019: Super Eagles On A Winning Note, As African Cup Of Nations Kicks Off

The Super Eagles of Nigeria, has kicked off their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday on winning note beating debutants Burundi 1-0 in their Group B opening game in Alexandria.

Odion Ighalo, who replaced Ebere Onuachu in the 73rd minute, broke the deadlock five minutes after coming in when he lashed on Ola Aina's back heel pass that opened up Burundi's defence for the goal, Daily Independent reports.

It was a textbook goal as he curved the ball past Jonathan Nahimana in goal for Burundi.

The Guardian of London describes the goal thus, "That's how to make an impact! Moments after coming on Ighala breaks the deadlocks with a smart finish. But Aina played a big part in the goal with a break in-field from the left and a delicious back heeled pass, worthy of Ronaldinho! Ighalo ran on to it and, from an angle, guided it past the advancing keeper and into the net."

Before the only goal of the game, Super Eagles had found the Burundi defence hard to break down as they played a very tight defence.

"We knew it was going to be a tough match," says Mikel Obi after the match. "They can run we knew it's not an easy group, they are very organized, but it was good we won the game and look forward to winning the second game and possibly qualify as group leaders.

"It was good that we won."

Coach Gernot Rohr, in his match analysis said that team spirit gave Eagles rthe win.

According to him what happed in training on Thursday and Friday affected his lineup, saying, "It was good we are starting with the win. It is good to start slowly and move on higher and higher."

He said that it was the game plan to introduce Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo in the second half, noting that the team lost two players in training.

Former Super Eagles captain, Joseph Yobo, also praised the team, saying that irrespective of the virus that hit the players in the last two days, they played well.

At the start of the game, Burundi had the first opportunity to score but Daniel Akpeyi denied Saido Berahino a great opportunity.

Super Falcons’ Ordega "I slapped my ex for looking at another lady"

Posted: 23 Jun 2019 05:00 AM PDT

Super Falcons' Ordega "I slapped my ex for looking at another lady"
Super Falcons forward Francisca Ordega has played a key role as the Falcons reached the knockout stages of the Women's World Cup for the first time in 20 years. She took time off to talk about herself off the pitch in this interview with KELVIN EKERETE.
Speaking to PUNCH's Kelvin Ekerete, she was asked about the craziest thing she did on and off the pitch.

In her words;

On the pitch in the US, that was two years ago, I had this hair bun I always put on. We were training and all of a sudden, my wig and the hair bun fell off but I didn't realise it was off, I was still running with the ball and all the players stopped and were all laughing. At the back of my mind, I was like, 'what is happening?' I was with the ball and was about scoring, and everyone was just laughing. So, I turned and tried to look around.

Then, one of them just pointed, saying 'Franny.' Then I looked at it. It was embarrassing and at the same time funny; even the coach, everyone were just laughing. Each time I remember the scenario, it always cracks me up. And off the field, my first boyfriend ever, we were together and were going out. I was younger then, I was really young. We were going out and there was this very pretty girl that was so cute, cuter than me, and my boyfriend was just staring at her and I was like, 'Hey! What are you looking at?' And a lot of people were there, lots of them and I didn't even know when I slapped him like, 'Hey! What are you looking at? Is she prettier than me?' I did it with all seriousness and everything.

The jealousy was just obvious. I was so jealous at that moment and everyone was just laughing at me. In our language (Tiv) they said, 'Take care of your property, I like your spirit, carry on.' I was so embarrassed but now it's always fun to me anytime I remember it or when I see him. If we get to see each other, he usually asks me, 'I hope you've stopped this drama thing?' And I'll be like, 'Hey! I've stopped.' So, it's kind of crazy.

Princess, Ex-BBN housemate says she has no issue with CeeC

Posted: 23 Jun 2019 03:30 AM PDT

Princess, Ex-BBN housemate says she has no issue with CeeC
Former Big Brother Nigeria housemate, Princess Onyejekwe, recently called out actor and television presenter, Uti Nwachukwu, after he declared Cynthia Nwadiora, popularly known as Cee-C, the most successful housemate of BBN 2018.

Princess had on Thursday taken a swipe at Uti through a comment posted on her Instagram page. She said, "I felt that as a former housemate, he should know better than to make a comparison. It's just unnecessary.

"Many housemates have gone through a phase of depression, insecurity, anger and regret. They have also moved past it and got stronger. You can't come and start this unspoken trivia now. It's not cool."

While contacted over the matter by Saturday Beats, Princess said that she was not trying to court controversy but only interested in putting things right.

She said, "Different people can read a particular meaning to an issue. What I wrote has nothing to do with Cynthia; it would be different if he (Uti) was not a former housemate.

"If it was a random celebrity talking; I wouldn't mind because the person hasn't experienced it.

"For someone that has been to the BBN house to openly put an outright comparison amongst people in the same cadre is not the best choice of words.

"He should have praised her without using words that would make others seem not at par.

"Cynthia is doing great and I am doing great and there is no hate. However, somehow, the whole thing escalated; it has nothing to do with me hating Cynthia's success; I feel he should have done better.

"Even when Forbes brings out a list of successful people; they rank it in their own established scale and rank their net worth to how much they know about them, it doesn't mean that some people are not richer than others.

"Hate is not the motive here; I felt he should have known better; it could start a crisis, riots are instigated by what people say.

"It is my opinion. I am saying no one should put a yardstick to success. It is just like putting one religion ahead of another. I feel it is unnecessary."

Speaking further, Cee-C noted that unlike some of her colleagues, who had gone into acting; she decided not to follow the same path because she wanted to gain some financial stability.

She said, "I was able to set up my beauty brand after the experience in the BBN house, I am proud of myself for achieving that feat.

"Interestingly, people think I wouldn't be at my store because I am a BBN star. I am always there because that is where my income comes from.

"I have thought about acting but I don't like the idea of being broke or not having my financial sanity, so I decided to establish something that I can make returns from before chasing a career in acting.

"I am a businesswoman; I need a structure that provides for me before chasing being in the spotlight."

Comparing her experience in the BBN house to child delivery, the young lady noted that she dealt with insecurity and self-esteem issues after she left the reality show.

She continued, "I believe everyone in life has expectations but we have different phases of growth.

"I had my fair share of criticisms; reality shows like Big Brother puts you in a confined environment which naturally changes things; it is not something that can be explained to someone; it is just like childbirth. Some people felt I should have done things in a particular way.

"I had insecurity and self-esteem issues at some point; when in the Big Brother house; you go in and you don't know what might happen when you come out.

"It is difficult and emotionally draining; you need a high level of counsel to go through that.

"I had to deal with these emotions myself and get past it. Being a housemate takes a toll on your emotional quotient. I was able to overcome that through self-discovery, reflection and meditation.

"I had to read more books and speak to experienced people to get over it. It was tough but the beauty is that you come out stronger.

"I don't think anyone can outshine me; there is a lot of space for everyone to be individually great without competition; I don't have that mindset."

Debunking rumours that she had to go under the knife to get a perfect body; Princess told Saturday Beats that such talks were not worth her time.

She said, "Nobody has really come out to ask me what I did with my body and until they come out to do that, I don't feel the need to grant anyone a response.

"I didn't do anything to endanger other species on earth, whatever I did was with me. They are rumours and it is fine; that is what happens when you are in the spotlight."

Reacting to the matter, Uti, in a comment on his Instagram page, said, "To those offended, calm your nerves. No harm meant.

"When you are proud of someone, you will give all the accolades you can, especially when you remember the bashing you went through for your support.

Posted: 23 Jun 2019 03:16 AM PDT

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole

Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), is far from navigating out of the plot to ease him out of office, Sunday Tribune reports.

According to the report, there seem to be a fresh move to kick him out of the party's national secretariat coming on the eve of his one year in office as party's chairman.

A party source told Sunday Tribune that APC governors tabled a demand for a change in the party's leadership while meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari during the week.

Kebbi State governor and chairman of the Progressives Governors' Forum, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, led his colleagues to the meeting.

It was gathered that the APC governors, at the meeting with President Buhari, expressed concern over the ongoing power tussle at the party's national secretariat and pleaded for his intervention.

The source revealed that a meeting of its statutory organs, the national caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) might be convened to discuss the cold war between Oshiomhole and his deputy.

Prodded for the name of likely replacement if the governors succeeded in their putsch against the former Edo State governor, the source disclosed that "the governors are shopping for a replacement behind the president.

"They are restricting their choice to the South- South zone. They aren't looking in the direction of the South- West and they don't trust the South- East with the number one position in the party."

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Lanre Isa-Onilu, could not be reached for comments last night.

His deputy, Yekeen Nabena, however, told Sunday Tribune on phone that he was not aware of any plan for a NEC meeting.

He said: "I am not aware of any plan to hold meeting of NEC. Only the chairman or secretary can call for the meeting.

"We don't even have a substantive national secretary now. The person we have is acting. So, the power to call the NEC meeting resides with our chairman. The governors can't force him to call NEC meeting," he said.

Oshiomhole has been having a running battle with one of his deputies, Senator Lawan Shuaibu, who blamed the party's poor performance in the general election on Oshiomhole.

Senator Shuaibu, who is the deputy national chairman (North) had, in a recent letter, accused Oshiomhole of excluding other members of the party's National Working Committee (NWC) in the running of the party.

Senator Shuaibu, in the letter dated May 27, 2019, entitled,  "APC: its Fortunes VS  Misfortunes: Time to Act," demanded Oshiomhole's resignation to save the party from what he called imminent collapse.

Shuiabu had since declined invitation to a five-man disciplinary committee set up  by Oshiomhole with the deputy national chairman (South), Chief Niyi Adebayo, as chairman.

Senator Shuaibu, who incidentally is from Zamfara State, has since been suspended by  a factional executive of the party in the state.

Factional Publicity Secretary, Zamfara State chapter, Mohammed Bakyasuwa, led other officials of the party to the APC national secretariat last week to submit the report which accused both former governor, Abdulazeez Yari and Senator Lawan of  breaching Article 21(a) 2014 of the APC constitution.

Actor Yul Edochie "People think I am my father’s ‘handbag’

Actor Yul Edochie "People think I am my father's 'handbag'
Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, recently shared a post to emphasise his position in the family by uploading a photograph of his elder brothers, pointing out that many people were not aware that he was the last child of veteran actor, Pete Edochie.

In a chat with Saturday Beats, the younger Edochie noted that even though he was the baby of the house, he was never pampered.

He said, "A lot of people think I am the only child probably because I am the most popular one and it happens often; they keep asking the same question.

"I just felt I should state it that I'm the last child of my father. Even as the last child, I was treated like every other child; maybe I got some special treatment as the last child.

"A lot of people used to refer to me as my father's handbag. I learnt a lot from my elder brothers and when I messed up, they dealt with me.

"We grew up like soldiers, I wasn't treated specially. My parents were very strict; they didn't spare me.

"There are some qualities I would forever cherish that I got from my parents like respect and being prayerful.

"It is not easy to raise five boys; they are all graduates. We are all doing well in our respective fields; I learnt a lot from them."

Edochie, who was recently involved in a fatal motor accident, appreciated God for sparing his life, adding that the incident has taught me him many valuable lessons.

"I was driving alone; I was close to Ore and the car swerved to the left and hit a culvert and went upside down.

"I believe it is a miracle; God still wants me around. It taught me that life is very short. I have been driving for over 18 years and never knew I was going to have an accident that day.

"People have been involved in such situations and lost their lives but I only came out with little scratches. It was God's grace at work."

Anti-Ganduje song- Musician allegedly jailed for two years in Kano

Ganduje song
A magistrate court in Kano has sentenced a budding songster, Mohammed Yusuf, to two years imprisonment for defaming the character of the state governor, Abdullahi Ganduje in a viral song.

Mr Yusuf, popularly known as AGY, recorded the innuendo-laden hit song which dwells on the governor's alleged avarice, creation of new emirates in the state and election rigging.

The singer was arrested by the police on Monday night and arraigned before Magistrate Court 72, Noman's Land presided by Aminu Gabari.

During the summary trial on Wednesday, the court found Mr Yusuf guilty of three-count charges of releasing a song without the approval of the Kano State Censorship Board, releasing a video without obtaining same approval and defamation of the character of Mr Ganduje.

On count 1 and 2, the singer was sentenced to six months each with an option N50,000 fine each, while on count 3, the musician bagged one year without option of fine.

Although the song was meant to praise the Emir of Kano Muhammadu Sanusi II as the chorus implies, the singer lashed at the governor in some of the stanzas, saying the governor can sell his wife (Goggo) because of money.

Other lines read;

Kano governor has already turned blind,
I swear what you did is hurting us,
For lucre, governor is more than a thief
For lucre, governor can sell out Goggo

Chef Chi Set To Sue Ubi Franklin For Allegedly Duping Davido And herself
A few weeks ago, Davido's girlfriend, Chioma Roland, popularly known as Chef Chi, took to her Instagram page to alert the public of her desire to sue someone.

It is alleged that the young chef who turned 23 last year was hinting on suing Ubi Franklin.

The businessman, who is the owner of Made Men Music, Instant Group of Companies, and a host of other businesses, was allegedly paid to facilitate the cooking show sponsored by Dunes Abuja but has not done much.

The cooking show has been highly anticipated by many, because publicity for it started since 2018.

According to Chef Chi and Davido's posts earlier this year, it was supposed to start airing in February but nothing has been announced.

Well Ubi is yet to comment on any of the accusations. Chef Chi is also yet to go further with her threat of suing her offender.

Ubi has been in the news weekly for one thing or the other, recently Sandra Iheuwa his latest baby mama publicly accused Ubi of defrauding her of 8 million Naira and after much threats ended up paying only half of the money. Ubi neither accepted or refuted these claims as he remained silent throughout.

It is alleged that Ubi Franklin is a serial scam artist and might have used the money given to him by Davido to build his hotel and Abuja. Also some claim he alledgedly sponsored his ex wife Lilian Esoro's trip to Dubai recently. It is rumoured that he pays Lilian Esoro regularly for her silence on most of what she suffered and endured during her marriage to him.

Cee-C reacts to Uti Nwachukwu’s claim that she is the most successful housemate

Posted: 23 Jun 2019 12:30 AM PDT

A lot has happened since BBNaija 2018 came to a close. Most of the housemates have moved on and all have become highly successful in varying degrees.

While most people are aware of the fact that all the former housemates are doing great in their respective lanes, Uti Nwachukwu intended to show love and support when he declared Cee-C the most successful housemate, making the others feel more or less, like failures.

His statement immediately sparked outcry on social media as Princess, and Ifu Ennada took to their individual Instagram page to condemn the comment. Due to several backlash, Uti was forced to review his statement.

However, Cee-c called other housemates fools as she responds to Uti Nwachukwu's claim that she is the most successful of all the other housemates from that edition.

Taking to her Instagram page, she wrote;

"Classy is when you have a lot to say but choose to remain silent in front of fools"
