The Right Way to Shave Your Bikini Line
If you're one of the 77 percent of women who shave their bikini line, then you know the full pain of a shave gone wrong. Bumps, ingrown hair, and angry red skin seem like they're just part of the package when it comes to shaving ~down there~. (TBH, it makes it almost not worth it.)

So is there even a good way to shaveor should you just splurge on a wax? Turns out, you can totally shave your pubic hair without getting all the bumps and irritationyou just have to be mindful of these seven expert tips.

1. Invest in a good bikini razor
Picking the right razor is the first step to ensuring your bikini line is smooth and bump-free. If there are more blades, it dispenses more pressure, allowing each blade to cut with less force but more effect, says Dendy Engelman, MD, of Manhattan Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery in New York City. In other words, you'll get a better, closer shave without risking a cut or irritation.

Choosing a firm, sturdy razor with soothing strips will make a huge difference," adds Eileen Bischoff, esthetician and hair-removal specialist at Eve Salon in New York City. While throwaways are great for use while traveling and can get the job done, theyre labeled "disposable" for a reason. Theyre not meant to be used for a month, she says.

2. Prep to prevent ingrown hair on your bikini line
Before shaving your bikini area, spend about 10 minutes in warm water first. This will help soften the outer layer of your skin, making it easier to remove hair (and lessen your chances of getting razor burn), says Fumi Ozaki, an esthetician and electrologist in Redondo Beach, California. After the 10 minutes is up, pat the skin dry to remove any excess water," she says.

Once your bikini line has been cleaned and dried, Engelman suggests lightly exfoliating with a wet washcloth or a scrub to remove dead skin cells, allowing the blade to get closer to the skin. "It teases out any stubborn ingrown hairs prior to shaving, she says.

3. Don't skip shaving cream
You might think this shaving accessory is just a feel- and smell-good component to the process, but its way more than that. When you shave, youre shaving your skin, too, says Bischoff. If you dont use enough shaving cream to create enough slip, youll lightly abrade your skin, leaving it irritated. Ouch.

And similarly to that quality bikini shaver you're supposed to buy, don't just reach for a random, cheap shaving cream. Use a good-quality shaving gel with a short list of moisturizing ingredients, like shea butter, olive oil, and coconut oilthese types of bases will give a proper buffer for your razor, says Engelman.

Apply a very thin layer only to the area that needs to be shaved so you can see the skin and hair shaft underneath. This is much safer, so theres no need to move the blade back and forth on the skin, says Ozaki.

4. Pay attention to your shaving direction
People have a lot of opinions about whether you should shave up or down on your bikini line, and the direction you shave does matter. How you shave can be really, really important, especially for people who are prone to bumps, says Bischoff. Going in a ton of different directions with your razor makes cuts and subsequent ingrown hairs more likely. Shave in one directionwith the hair growth. Going against the grain of your hair makes irritation much more likely.

While gliding your razor gently along the bikini line, keep the blade downward without adding too much pressure. One pass should be fine, especially if youre using a razor that has many blades, says Ozaki. The more blades used, the fewer times you should feel the need to re-shave over this sensitive area.

5. Calm your skin after shaving the bikini area

Wash off as soon as you put your razor down, and hold a cold compress to the area for 10 minutes to prevent irritation, says Ozaki. Apply an anti-redness serum (preferably fragrance-free) to further reduce your chances of experiencing razor burn. I recommend tea tree oil, both a natural anti-inflammatory and antiseptic, which can help calm razor burn, says Engelman. If youve really caused some irritation, more intense creams, like topical steroids, can be prescribed to reduce redness, swelling, and pain."

6. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize
Its important to always hydrate and moisturize after shaving . Apply an unscented, alcohol-free moisturizer to both sides of the bikini line to lock in the moisture and avoid over-drying, which leads to further irritation, says Engelman. Bischoff suggests looking for products containing soothing aloe vera, as well as jojoba oil and vitamin E for hydration.

7. Clean your bikini razor
After every shave, make sure to sanitize your blades with rubbing alcohol and warm or hot water. If your razor looks rusty and youve been using it for a while, toss it out. Replace old bladesones youve used for more than five to seven shaves, says Engelman.

You can also cut your losses (and avoid those red bumps) by storing blades in a clean, dry place so they don't pick up bacteria sitting around in the shower.

Ben Affleck to Appear in 'Erotic Thriller' Co-written by Euphoria Showrunner
Ben Affleck is set to appear in an upcoming "erotic thriller." The movie is co-written by Euphoria showrunner Sam Levinson. Affleck has dabbled in this genre before, with 2014's Gone Girl. 

Do you want to see Ben Affleck in an "erotic thriller"? If your answer to that is "yes," it's your lucky day! According to a report from Deadline , Affleck is closing in on a deal to appear in an upcoming movie called Deep Water, which will see him appear alongside actress Ana De Armas (who will also appear in the upcoming untitled James Bond film) as a couple.

Per Deadline, the plot of the movie goes as such:

Affleck and de Armas are in talks to play Vic and Melinda Van Allen, an attractive young married couple whose mind games with each other take a twisted turn when people around them start turning up dead. The couple staves off divorce in a loveless marriage by allowing each to take lovers, but it becomes messy as Highsmith exposed the surface facade of American suburban life.

One would have to wonder when Affleckwho turns 47 in a couple weekswould stop being considered part of a "young couple," but aside from that the movie sounds fairly thrilling. ( Maybe having a massive back tattoo makes you young forever.)

The "erotic thriller" classification is the expertise of director Adrian Lyne, who hasn't directed a movie since Unfaithful in 2002, which was about adultery. He also directed Flashdance, and was nominated for an Oscar for directing Michael Douglas and Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction, probably the most famous 'erotic thriller' of all time.

The movie's screenplay was adapted from a 1957 novel, also called Deep Water, by author Patricia Highsmith. That script was written by Zach Helm, who wrote one of the most underrated movies of the last 20 years in Stranger Than Fiction with Will Ferrell (which is available to stream on Amazon Prime !), and Sam Levinson , who currently serves as the showrunner for HBO's Euphoria .

It might be worth mentioning that this isn't Affleck's first go-around with an erotic thriller. You might recall his lead role in David Fincher 's Gone Girl back in 2014, which, all jokes aside, is probably the best on-screen performance of his career. Gigli is kind of an erotic thriller too, but for Ben's sake we won't talk about that one.

The movie is expected to begin shooting in November. You'll probably see a good bit more of Affleck before Deep Water, thoughhe's scheduled to appear in basketball movie Torrance, the Joan Didion-adaptation The Last Thing He Wanted, Kevin Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Reboot all before the end of 2019.

Do the Arnold Press Safely
The Arnold press is a move designed to smash all three heads of the shoulder named after a muscle-building legend. The exercise is iconicbut are you sure you're even doing it correctly?

For this movement, you shouldn't settle for anything other than perfect formespecially because it targets such a potentially delicate part of your body. Let Men's Health fitness director Ebenezer Samuel, C.S.C.S. and associate fitness editor Brett Williams guide you through the Arnold press' subtleties, saving you from the bad habits that are keeping you from unlocking your fitness potential.

Before you pick up your dumbbells and start rotating your shoulders, take note that it's extremely important to pay attention the movement here. Your positioning and posture are essential to recruiting the right muscles and keeping your shoulders safeso let's break down everything you need to know.


Don't Over-Rotate

Eb says: The Arnold press is a great move for hitting the shoulder all-around, but, as its generally done, it does place your shoulder at slight injury risk. You're rotating into internal rotation as you press up, a combination that can potentially limit the joint space between humerus and clavicle.

To avoid this, but still get the full benefit of the Arnold, stop just short of finishing that rotation. Rotate only until your palms are at about a 45-degree angle with your torso, essentially rotating into a standard shoulder press position, then finish pressing up. You'll be exhibiting more overall control over the rotation phase of the Arnold, and then get to drive up with your delts aggressively and naturally.

Kneel and Deliver

Eb says: Arnolds, like all shoulder presses, can be done seated or standing. There's also another alternative: The tall kneeling position. And this position may be the best for shoulder-pressing in general.

Why? Because it's going to keep you from one of the key flaws in all shoulder presses, a tendency to shift stress to the lower back. Normally, when we shoulder press, especially as we work with larger weights, we arch either from the lower back or through the mid-back, especially if we lack true overhead mobility. That lets us move more weight.

By getting in tall kneeling position, you'll be forced to more aggressively squeeze your glutes and abs. That'll take strain off your lower back and help you organize your spine better. You may need to work with a lighter weight, but you'll get a better overall press out of it.

Take Your Time

Eb says: Don't rush through Arnold press reps. The strength of the Arnold is how it lets you blend rotation and hit every part of your delts. Rushing or being overly explosive through the motion detracts from that. Then you wind up using momentum and the initial energy you create to power through the rest of the motion, missing the phase where you rotate and rely on the lateral heads of your shoulder, for example.

You also risk dropping too low as you return to the start or landing in poor shoulder blade positioning. Think two seconds up, two seconds down on every rep. You may need to go slightly lighter, but your body will thank you for the time-under-tension.

Use The Kettlebell Option

Eb says: Kettlebells are a great way to get an Arnold press effect in ultra-safe fashion. If you have access to them, use them. The classic front rack is actually essentially the start position of an Arnold.

But the best part happens at the end. When using a kettlebell, you can rotate higher, partly because the center of gravity of a kettlebell essentially guides your shoulders into optimal positioning and helps you find true shoulder flexion. Give it a try if you have the access.

The arrival of four additional housemates to the Big Brother house is already making some of the housemates uneasy.

Last night while some of the ladies gathered to chat, they expressed their mixed feelings over the new additions to the house. Diane, Mercy, and Esther who have formed a united front got talking about their new competition.

Diane started by talking about how she likes Venita Akpofure's acting skills, having seen some of her movies. Esther was quick to tell her not to be open with her admiration, to which Diane agreed.


Esther, on the other hand, said she doesn't remember anything about Venita's career. Diane then went on to say that she is trying to stop thinking about the new twist to the game after the introduction of the new housemates.

According to her, the thoughts of it is messing with her head but she thanked Big Brother for bringing light-skinned guys because she doesn't have a thing for them which will keep her in check.


Esther also said the new guys are short and light-skinned which was going to make it impossible for her to get attracted to any of them.

Four new housemates were introduced into the Big Brother house in a space of two days which according to Biggie was a plot twist to the game. The newly introduced housemates are Venita Akpofure, Elozonam, Enkay and Joe.

John Adewusi and Jola Ayeye's 'Salt & Truth' production outfit has taken time to document the lives and travails of underaged house helps in a new project, 'House Girls'. 

The documentary's trailer shows the lives of the typical house girl using a minor as the mirror for several house helps scattered across Nigeria. 

According to a statement from Salt & Truth, the documentary will explore the economy and underbelly of the domestic service industry; from the agents, who scout, find, procure and transport these children, to the parents and guardians who release their wards to these strangers for "work" thousands of miles away, and finally to the members of the Nigerian populace who "employ them" in their homes. 


The statement went further to say, "This is a fixture that has become very common in the average Nigerian home. The Nigerian domestic service industry in Nigeria is awash with minors. In millions of homes in Nigeria, children are employed as domestic staff and spend many hours performing menial tasks such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry. In an unregulated industry, they are subject to all forms of horrific abuse, from verbal to physical and sexual."

Continuing, the production company states that the situation is pathetic and calls for serious concern.

"This painful video shows the daily routine of millions of children working in homes as housemaids. Many people have them in their homes. While underage and denied a childhood of their own, they cook, clean, look after us. Their existence in our homes is a well-accepted​ norm."

Nicki Minaj, in a recent broadcast of her show Queen Radio, said that she had a conversation with Kanye West and he told her he's now a born-again Christian.

Speaking to Chance The Rapper, who was also her special guest, she said:


"I want to touch on, just briefly real quick, and I'm going to go…Because I felt the same exact way. Sometimes in the music business, we think that other artists don't believe in God or are aren't spiritual as we are, and stuff like that. So we automatically go to the normal, 'Oh, what up?'

"Then when you find people, because I just was with Kanye, and he told me he's a born-again Christian now. Like my first instinct was, 'I'm so proud of you,' because I could see there's a peace that he has now that just surpasses everything."

Touching quickly on her husband, Kenneth Petty's faith, she added:

"To everybody listening, if you have a man that says he don't believe in God … one time somebody told me this, that, 'I don't believe in God,' and it scared the living hell out of me," she said. "I ran like there was no tomorrow. So I just want to say, because a man needs a strong woman in his life, like whether that woman is praying or meditating or just supporting you or giving you those talks, people don't understand how far that goes for men."

An unidentified Nigerian man has joined the list of partners who make romantic gestures just to remind their partners that they love them. The man surprised his girlfriend with a cute delivery.

We came across a romantic story after a Twitter user identified as Dessy shared photos of what was sent to her by her boyfriend on the micro-blogging platform.

Dessy shared a tweet, saying her boyfriend sent her a delivery filled with money and food. She jokingly stated that she is not crying about the touching gesture.


The photos shared by Dessy showed that her boyfriend sent her plates of food, chicken and naira notes. He also placed a note, saying "If you're going to eat my money then at least use a plate."
