Xenophobia: South African rapper AKA prays for Nigeria after backlash

Posted: 05 Sep 2019 12:30 AM PDT

South African rapper, AKA, has taken to social media to make amends regarding the recent xenophobic attacks against foreigners in his country.

The recent xenophobic attack in South Africa has led to friction between some Nigerian celebs and their South African colleagues, particularly rapper AKA.

The rapper had stepped on some toes with his comments on xenophobia and quite a number of celebs expressed their displeasure with him in clear terms.

Many Nigerians also resorted to sending death threats to the SA rapper as they vowed to harm him if he ever sets foot in the country.

Well, AKA has now taken steps to make amends on his comments regarding the xenophobia. In a new tweet, the rapper called for peace between Nigerians and South Africans.

According to him, South Africans and Nigerians need each other and things would only get worse if the hate does not stop.

He tweeted: "PLEASE!!! Can we STOP. We are going to make things worse for everybody on both sides. We need each other! … please. Can we stop. We are supposed to be leading our people."

See his tweet below:

#BBNaija2019: Ifu Ennada asks show organisers to take a 24-hour break and show support to Nigerians in South Africa

Posted: 05 Sep 2019 12:00 AM PDT

She condemned the attacks, saying "shame on South Africa. Shame on our government. Shame on everyone who enables xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa. Shame on us all."

Writing on Instagram, the Big Brother Naija Double Wahala housemate called on #BBNaija organisers to go on a 24-hour break to "show support".

In another post, Ifu Ennada called on the organisers of the show to also get the current housemates to do a task on xenophobia.

\
To all South-Africans who derive pleasure in enabling/executing Xenophobic attacks- you're afflicted by inferiority complex, stupidity and ignorance. You claim Nigerians are taking over your country, but you forget that over 85% of your wealth is controlled by Whites who are really Lords over your lives in your own country.

You all keep bringing shame to yourselves and your beloved Nelson Mandela.

Your celebrities, your government, our government and everyone who keeps blind eyes and sealed lips as this evil continues should be thoroughly ashamed of themselves.

Your companies here make a ton of money from Nigeria and Nigerians, from #BBNaija to Multichoice itself, to MTN, Shoprite and every single South African owned business in Nigeria, you actually control a good amount of our wealth here, but you'll never catch Nigerians killing your people.

I wish there was something I could do other than just write. Since yesterday, my mind has experienced a turmoil thinking of the best line of action I could take, but this is all I can do right now and dare suggest that #bbnaija goes on a 24hrs break to show support to our people getting attacked in South Africa.

The world is crazy, the world is evil but I never knew my brothers and sisters who I've been there for will be the evil that threatens my life. I never knew South Africans will be the evil that threatens our very own existence.

They have forgotten how Nigeria played a huge role in their liberation years ago. They have forgotten. Nelson Mandela must have died a 100th time in his grave.

May God have mercy on us all.😔

Broda Shaggi reacts to xenophobia, shares his experience with police says 'Nigeria has fallen'

Posted: 04 Sep 2019 10:00 PM PDT

Xenophobia is a serious issue plaguing Nigerians and other Africans in South Africa as there have been numerous reports of the citizens attacking foreigners in their country.

After many videos hit the internet of foreigners being killed and tortured in South Africa with their properties being destroyed, a number of Nigerian celebs have taken to social media to react to the news.

Nigerian comedian, Broda Shaggi, reacted to the news by sharing his own encounter with the Nigerian police sometime in August 2019.

Shaggi did this to illustrate how low Nigeria has fallen and how the government has failed citizens in the country talk less of those in South Africa.

According to Shaggi, some heavily armed men not in police uniforms but had 'anti-cultism squad' written on their jackets and hats, stopped him around 12am at Lekki conservation road in Lagos.

An altercation ensued between the comedian and the men and one of them proceeded to plant Tramadol in his vehicle. Shaggi's female passenger noticed it and started to scream saying 'I saw you, I saw you'.

The comedian was later taken to the station and was even recorded by the police officer saying the almighty Broda Shaggi was caught with tramadol. As it has now become the norm, Shaggi ended up paying N10,000 bail as opposed to the N150k they initially asked for.

Shaggi then concluded his post with the words:

"Our brothers and sisters are being killed in South Africa now cos they left this shi*tty country to make a living. NIGERIA HAS FALLEN"

Sonia Ogiri shared a post, revealing how Mercy Johnson bullied her years ago on a movie set. And Angela Okorie commented on the story, claiming Mercy treated her same way and when she confronted her, Mercy began fighting her "spiritually and physically"

I have raised for God
Only if you know who my son is
Before he was conceived God knew him
May death visit your full generation
Any gathering that is not of the lord
They shall scatter
You evil spirit may you drink your own blood and eat your own flesh

Any coven that my name and my sons name has been mentioned
Holy ghost fire destroy you all
In the sea
In the air , in a native doctor's shrine
Oku monso gbagbuogi
Be destroyed and removed from the surface
Of the earth ,
Since you wish my son death
May your generation be closed
My sons is the future president of this country
My son breathes with the life of christ
He died when God died
God himself gave him that life
He shall not die
He will continue to make me and the world proud Amen,
No peace for the wicked
Any witch hovering around
Blood sucking demon
Die now in Jesus mighty name Amen
I am untouchable
The lord lives in me , my son , my household
Is covered with the blood of Jesus Amen .

What Psychologist said about Bobrisky’s weird behaviour

Posted: 04 Sep 2019 05:30 AM PDT

Psychologist, Dr. Yinka Ojedokun, on Monday said popular cross dresser Idris Okuneye, alias Bobrisky is exhibiting traits akin to dual-personality disorder.

Ojedokun, a former Head of Psychology Department (HOD) at the Adekunle Ajasin University (AAU), Akungba, Ondo State, said the self-acclaimed male barbie would need psychological intervention in terms of personality assessment.

Speaking on the possible causes of such behavioural pattern, he said it was confusion of identity triggered mostly by environmental factors such as a person's upbringing.

Ojedokun told the Nation: "If I should give you my candid opinion as a social psychologist who also specialises in the behaviour of personality psychology, one thing that comes to mind is that Bobrisky is suffering from the dual-personality disorder.

"There are some people that are not satisfied with the kind of personality that they are carrying that is why he is trying to portray himself as a woman. When he is on his own (alone) he knows that he is a man but when he comes out he presents himself to the society as a woman.

"This also happens because society is encouraging it and it is a way of demeaning societal values in Africa.

"There are so many things that could be responsible. It could be an environmental factor in terms of upbringing by his parents. We do not know whether he had more females around him while growing up. If so, it could be what he learnt from the people around him as a child and grew up thinking that is who he is.

"If he cannot define who he is then identity confusion takes place. It is not a clinical issue. It is just a matter of him going through some psychological counseling process to really identify and accept who he is.

"It starts with helping him to understand that he is a man and not a woman. So, you must define yourself in every area in your choice of clothes, behaviour and the likes.

"I think there should be a psychology intervention in terms of personality assessment. As psychologists, we have tools that we can use to assess people's personality. Then, we can have an idea about who he is and we can start to tailor our interventions towards our observations."

Xenophobia: AKA replies YCee’s diss on South African Men

Posted: 04 Sep 2019 05:00 AM PDT

Nigerian singer, YCee recently took to social media to condemn the attacks on Nigerians in South Africa. The rapper who revealed that he no longer rated South African men, stated that they are not only jealous of but resent Nigerian men.

Part of the tweet reads: "There is this subtle dislike that a lot of them (If not all) feel towards Nigerians and no matter how hard they try to hide it .. it eventually jumps out – like when AKA had a full childish grown man tantrum when they lost to Nigeria in the nations cup.'

Ycee went on to advice Nigerians and other foreigners living in South Africa to no longer feel safe even though back in Nigeria, foreigners are treated specially.

His tweet below:

Xenophobia: AKA responds to YCee's diss on South African men
South African rapper, AKA tried invalidating YCee's tweets with a photo of himself posing with the Nigerian flag, beside a painting of Fela.

YCee however, was quick to remind him of the tweets he put out some months ago after South Africa lost to Nigeria during AFCON match.

Defending the tweets, AKA responded saying:

"South Africa and Nigeria is the continent's BIGGEST RIVALRY … a SIBLING RIVALRY because we are brothers and sisters … I also hate losing to Australia for f*cks sake. Let's pull together as Africans and stop dividing ourselves. This whole narrative is stupid!!!"

YCee however, was not letting this go easy. He responded saying:

"Bro if you refuse to see the underlying implications of what you tweeted .There's really no need for the back and forth. As public figures we should always recognize the strength our platforms carry! I have no agenda or narrative to push .I'm just deeply hurt and that's that!"

See the exchange below:

While many people are calling on the government to intervene, an abroad-based Nigerian seems to believe another solution will be much more effective.

R.Kelly’s girlfriends on a rescue mission as they search for funds for new legal team

Posted: 04 Sep 2019 02:00 AM PDT

R.Kelly's bid to get a new legal team gets a boast as his girlfriends rally around to get funds.

R.Kelly's girlfriends, Azriel Clary, 21, and Joycelyn Savage, 23, are said to be hustling real hard to get money to fund a new legal team for him.

According to TMZ, the two women are trying to get the services of the lawyer, Tom Mesereau who R.Kelly specifically requested for. It would be recalled that Tom Mesereau is famous for handling Michael Jackson's trial years ago.

Azriel Clary and Joycelyn Savage are said to have several projects lined up to help raise money for the expensive lawyer which includes a book and a couple of paid interviews.

It is not clear of the paid interviews are a done deal according to TMZ, but it is certain that these women are doing everything possible to get R.Kelly out of jail.

A major hindrance to this project is that R.Kelly will be needing forensic experts, experts in sex trafficking and even private investigators. All of these don't come cheap as they would cost as much as $1M.

This is not the first time these ladies would be coming to the music star's rescue as we can recall that earlier in the year during an interview, they both defended him from all the accusations levelled against him.
