Davido: 'No Money Osun State Can Make In 40 Years That My Dad Hasn't Made'

Davido

Nigerian singer David Adeleke, aka Davido, says there is no money Osun State can make in the next 40 years that his father, Adedeji Adeleke, has not already made as the 'omo baba olowo' crooner revealed why he stayed away from Nigeria for eight months.

A similar controversial statement regarding the paltry financial capacity of Osun was made by the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.

Contrary to beliefs that Davido was away from the country to promote his music on the international scene, the singer said he had to leave the country of some time due to the fillers he was getting that the government was after him.

According to him, he needed to protect his family and associates which he was why he left the country.

The singer made this known at his album private listening event, Wednesday night, which held at Landmark Events, Victoria Island, where he disclosed that if he had chosen to stay things would not have gone smoothly for him as the government were beginning to track his activities.

The singer whose album, 'A Good Time', will be released in October while fielding questions from MTV Base TV host, Ehiz, said, "With the whole politics thing it was first about family. Honestly, it was first about family. I was in Osun with my guys. We saw everything in plain sight. Let me tell you a story about my uncle. My uncle is the last born of the family. The original politician of the family is Serubawon, my father's elder brother.

"He was the first governor of Osun state; came back then went for senator you know when everybody for the state knows that this is the next governor and then we just woke up one day and they said he went to eat somewhere and he died.

"Yoruba culture when somebody holds an office and he passes on they either give the bride or the close relatives. The next in line is B red's daddy and he is just a happy person. He doesn't like politics but when you lose your brother everybody knows what's up. With that, they wanted to give my uncle automatically.

"A day to them swearing him in as senator they said no we want to do re-election another guy has come up and my father doesn't like wahala so he said let's go to the other party if we lose we pack our thing and go. The next day we did election my uncle cleared 16 out of 17 local government areas.

"He became a senator in just a week. His own journey to winning that governorship primary election was out of sight that was how we knew this one nah God.

"It was painful and will tell everybody here that was the real reason I was not even in the country because of the politics. I have to watch what I say. If I was around he no go dey OK for me and my people. So I had to be a man and say look let me stay away.

"We have Adeleke University all the roads that lead was done by my father. There's no money Osun wants to make in the next 30 to 40 years that my father has not made. The way things turned out was crazy.

When asked if he got any backlash for doing what he did, he said no.

According to him, he met an APC chieftain at a wedding in Paris where
they both shared a joke.

He said he "felt shebi una don take am".

"That's why I'm back," he explained. "I'm praying every day for the country. Everybody is complaining why you talking about politics. I have an American passport I could have chosen to stay there. But this is home and I am comfortable here."

PDP Candidate Declared Rightful Winner Of Election, As Tribunal Sacks APC Lawmaker

APC and PDP

A member of the House of Representatives representing Abi/Yakurr federal constituency of Cross River state on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alex Egbonna, has been sacked by the National/House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Calabar.

In its ruling, the Justice Vincent Agbata-led three-man tribunal asserted that Egbonna was not qualified to contest the election in the first place, Daily Trust reports.

Justice Agbata declared that as at February 23, "Egbonna was not qualified to contest the election of Abi/Yakurr constituency of Cross River state."

The judge subsequently declared that the votes scored by Egbonna in the said election were therefore invalid and unlawful.

He further declared John Lebo, who scored the highest number of valid votes, as winner of the said election and directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately withdraw the Certificate of Return wrongly issued to Egbonna.

Justice Agbata directed the electoral commission to issue the certificate to Lebo.

Xenophobia: These Are The Reasons Our People Are Attacking Nigerians, Other Foreigners – South Africa Foreign Minister, Pandor

Posted: 05 Sep 2019 11:00 AM PDT

Naledi Pandor

Naledi Pandor, South Africa's Foreign Minister, on Thursday acknowledged that prejudice against people from other African countries was one of the causes behind deadly attacks on foreign-owned businesses. This is coming a day after Pretoria was forced to shut its embassy in Nigeria over threats of retaliatory violence.

At least, five Africans have been killed in attacks on foreigners in South Africa this week.

On Wednesday, South African companies, MTN, and Shoprite closed stores in Nigeria after retaliatory attacks in one of the stores.

Pandor said the government decided to temporarily close the embassy in Nigeria for security reasons after a protest march was planned there and threats of violence were received, NAN reports.

In an interview on the sidelines of a continental economic conference in Cape Town, Pandor said South Africa was in constant contact with Nigerian authorities and was also working to restore calm in areas affected by the violence.

"There is an Afrophobia we are sensing that exists, there is resentment and we need to address that," Pandor said.

"There is a targeting of Africans from other parts of Africa, we can't deny that. But, there is also criminality … because a lot of this is accompanied by theft," she said, describing the attacks as a complex phenomenon whose root causes were not easy to define.

The violence in South Africa has overshadowed the conference of the World Economic Forum in Cape Town. Nigeria announced on Wednesday it would boycott the meeting.

The withdrawal from the summit of Nigerian Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, who was scheduled to address a panel on universal energy access on Thursday, has cast a cloud over initiatives to boost intra-African trade.

Burna Boy has joined the growing list of celebrities speaking out against Xenophobia and he isn't holding back.

The 'African Giant' reacted bitterly and angrily pouring out his mind; he called out AKA, MI and also vowed not to step foot in South Africa ever.

Ok. I have been away from social media personally until today. Ordinarily at a time like this, I should come here and say something to try and calm the situation because my Dream has always been to Unite AFRICA and make us realise that Together we will Literally rule the world…

But Today After watching the Killing of my people in South Africa the same way we have all watched it happen a few times in the past. FUCK ALL THAT! I personally have had my own xenophobic experiences at the hands of South Africans and because of that…..

I have not set foot in SA since 2017. And I will NOT EVER go to South Africa again for any reason until the SOUTH AFRICAN government wakes the fuck up and really performs A miracle because I don't know how they can even possibly fix this.

This goes against everything I stand 4, but at what point do we take action? I understand that years of Oppression has confused South Africans to the point where they see the pple who came to their defence during their Oppression as their Enemies and then worship their oppressors

Then he called out AKA

And @akaworldwide i knew you was retarded but I didn't know it had gotten this bad. Next time I see you you better have a big security bro,On Gambos Grave ur gunna need it.

Lemme also say that there are some South Africans who are Amazing, Progressive AFRICAN people and I will forever Love them like I Love myself. But they are not many at all.

He reacted to Davido's post calling for the country to be better and everybody would stay in the country.

Davido wrote; If our country good ? Wetin we go find go southy ??? 💔💔💔…
