What Is Pansexuality? All you need to know

Posted: 06 Sep 2019 03:13 PM PDT

Miley Cyrus was one of the first major celebrities to openly identify as pansexual , and since then, others, including Janelle Mone , have followed suit.

A growing number of young people are claiming the identity, too. According to Human Rights Campaigns , the number of youth who identified as pansexual had doubled since 2012, with 14% of youth respondents embracing the descriptor, and 34% identifying as bisexual. (Only 7% identified as pansexual back in 2012).

So what exactly is pansexuality, and how does it differ from its close cousin, bisexuality?

Pansexuality simply means youre attracted to all genders.
Pan, after all, comes from the Greek prefix meaning all. In other words, pansexual people are attracted to people of all genders, regardless if they identify as cisgender male, cisgender female, gender non-binary, agender, transgender, and so on.

Often pansexual folks talk about how they're not attracted to body parts, just the individual's personality. While that's true for many pan folks, there are also pan people like me, who do in fact like body parts; they just appreciate the body parts of all genders.

Pansexuality is being attracted to people of all genders. Got it. So what about bisexuality?

Bisexuality is being attracted to two or more gendersbut not necessarily all.
Here's an example of a person who's bisexual, but not pansexual: A cisgender woman who dates trans men, cis and trans women, and gender nonconforming folksbut never cisgender men. This woman is attracted to more than two genders, but she isn't attracted to all genders.

Bisexual people may only be attracted to one gender sexually, and have no desire to be in a relationship with them; they may also find themselves significantly more attracted to one gender over the others.

A bisexual person can be attracted to all gendersjust like a pansexual personsince "two or more" can mean all. But even though the two labels can mean the same thing, many folks choose "pansexual" because they feel "bisexual" is exclusionary. They think that since bi means two, it must mean that bisexual folks are only attracted to cisgender men and cisgender women.

But most bisexual people don't see that as being the case. As the renowned bisexual activist and educator Robyn Ochs has said of her identity , I call myself bisexual because I acknowledge that I have in myself the potential to be attractedromantically and/or sexuallyto people of more than one gender, not necessarily at the same time, in the same way, or to the same degree.

Nevertheless, pansexuality was birthed from the confusion of what it means to be bisexual and to make it unequivocally clear that someone who identifies as pansexual is attracted to all genders.

At the end of the day, both labels are valid, and if you're attracted to all genders, you can choose to identify as bisexual, pansexual, or both!

Michelle Obama shares photo from her early school days and pens down an empowering message

Posted: 06 Sep 2019 10:30 PM PDT

Michelle Obama is reflecting on the importance of good education and how it helped build her.

To mark the International Day of Charity on Thursday, September 5, the former US First Lady shared a photo from her early school days and penned down an empowering message.

She wrote: 'It's after Labor Day, so I'm thinking about all the young people heading back to school and reflecting on my own days as a student in Chicago.

I learned a lot in school—how to do my multiplication tables and structure a paragraph, yes, but also how to push myself, be a good friend, and dust myself off after a failure.

It's so easy for us to take our education for granted, especially here in the United States. Right now, more than 98 million adolescent girls around the world are not in school.

I believe every girl on the planet deserves the same kind of opportunities that I've had—a chance to fulfill her potential and pursue her dreams. We know that when we give girls a chance to learn, they'll seize it. And when they do, our whole world benefits. Girls who go to school have healthier children, higher salaries, lower poverty rates, and they can even help boost their entire nation's economy.

So today on #WorldCharityDay, I want you to share your favorite #BackToSchool photo and to join the @girlsopportunityalliance to take action for global girls' education. Visit the link in my bio to learn more—because the future of our world is only as bright as our girls.

Narrating his ordeal, the rapper said, 'I was kidnapped by sars lastnight. Two mins away from my house, taken to lagos island and made to exhaust my atm allowance or i would be killed and no one would know'.

Not by armed robbers. But when u are robbed and they are armed fully, 5 ak-47's. Blows to the head and bundled into a vehicle.

Isn't it the same thing. And then after you will now tell me our government is working. Things are in place. Bla bla. Let me tell u now straight up. I dont care who you are, if you are rolling solo in this town and sars get you. Day or night. If they get ur phone. Its over for you.

They dont have names or numbers on their uniforms. They literally said to me "na you burn this our hilux here yesterday abii". Acting like they didnt know who I was and were gonna rope me in anything they felt or do with me what they would. After collecting all the money in lagos island they start laughing telling me i'm too stubborn that when will i introduce them to don jazzy. Oh so u know me. One even bragged about working alot with wazobiafm.

Thanx for that info at least now i have a point to start my own investigation. I could've been shot and left in the dark space on that dark road. No ID no phone. Who would ID me. Who would be looking for me for days?

Afterall my people saw me enter uber heading home. On the island. Shey i'm safe. Good morning. Its a good day to be alive. I don't even know what hashtag to put sef. Its ok. I recorded a video initially from when I got home last night but it was too long and it made me cry again. So i just said lemme just yan straight no need for in the moment.

Just the facts. We are not safe. End of story. Know as u dey take move.

#BBNaija2019: Mercy reveals to Ike how Esther ‘snatched’ Nelson from Diane

Posted: 06 Sep 2019 01:30 AM PDT

Mercy has revealed to Ike how evicted housemate, Esther 'snatched' another evicted housemate, Nelson from Diane.

In a new revelation, Mercy told Ike how Esther 'snatched' Nelson from Diane.

This revelation is coming after the eviction of Esther and the emergence of Ike and Mercy as the Heads of House for the 10th week.

In the latest episode of Showmax's Extra View, Mercy and Ike had a private discussion where Esther was the main subject.

During the private discussion, Mercy revealed that Esther had played a fast one with Diane over Nelson – the ex-housemate had been a love interest of BFFs Esther and Diane while he was in the house.

Mercy said, "We were talking about who we like in the house and Diane told Esther that she likes Nelson, and the next two days she (Esther) took Nelson." Continuing she said, "Diane told me she didn't see Tuoyo as a boyfriend; I like Tuoyo different. I have feelings for this person (Nelson) and she made it very clear, she didn't hide it. Then the day we had this discussion it was Esther who asked us who she (Diane) liked. She didn't want to, but Diane just said it and the next thing you (Esther) are with this guy and we don't even know what happened".

Mercy further revealed that Esther didn't state that she liked Nelson during the discussion, leading Ike to describe Esther as a "sneaky girl".

During his last days in the house, Nelson shared more than a few cuddly moments with Esther, an action which Mercy has now revealed affected Diane badly.

24-hours after the exit of Esther from the BBNaija house, Mercy corrected Mike and Ike about her being a member of the Power Puff Girls. "Esther was not a member of the Power Puff Girls and she can never be. The Power Puff girls are Thelma, Diane, and Mercy. When she had the opportunity, she denied the offer and not until after Thelma left that you guys started referring to a member of the Power Puff girls because we chat together."

In the ninth week, Esther had become close to Frodd and Mercy thinks it's because she wants to use the 'couple' strategy to get an edge in the game.

#BBNaija2019 – Sir Dee: “If I was single, I would have dated Esther”

Posted: 06 Sep 2019 12:30 AM PDT

The latest housemates to be evicted from the Big Brother Naija 'Pepper Dem' season 4 house, Sir Dee and Esther paid a visit to our studio on Wednesday, September 4, 2019.

For us, it was an opportunity to speak with the reality TV stars on their experiences in the house. Esther who had a very interesting relationship with fellow housemate, Frodd gave us an insight about their friendship.

One interesting thing about this interview was the fact that we got to ask Sir Dee which of the other female housemates would he have shown interest in if he wasn't in a relationship.

"Of course, I am very human-like that," he said. We wanted to dig further as we asked him to share with us the possible names of housemates.

"There are a few names, of course, you know…I was attracted to people on different levels. So if I was emotionally available, I would have pursued some of those attractions. I would say, Esther. Esther is a very smart girl and very intelligent and intelligence is something that is very attractive," he said.

Esther left viewers of the reality TV show glued to their TV screens when she left Frodd crying after she rejected his love advances. We wanted to find out how that turned into a beautiful friendship later on in the show.

"I think that we all know that, when you are persistent with something, there is a high probability that it will come through. Frodd is persistent with his friendship, I think that's the kind of person that he is. Because he was always at it, always talking to me like I also reciprocated by talking back to him. And eventually, we just got close. When you spend time with somebody, it is bound to happen.

"He was a good person. Our friendship wasn't forced. But Frodd is very intense with his emotions and feelings and I am not that kind of a person. For me, it takes time to warm up to someone. It is really rare for me to just hit it off with people, but it does happen. But in that regards it didn't happen like that," she said.

We asked her if anything would happen between Frodd and herself after the show eventually ends.

"I don't know what the future holds, so I'm opened to the possibility that the future holds," Esther added.
