Cardi B – ‘Ghana-Nigeria beef is fake’

Posted: 12 Dec 2019 12:00 AM PST

Over the weekend, Cardi B was in Africa for the first time to perform in the two West African neighbouring countries. She had a lot of fun but most particularly, she noticed that the tension between Ghana and Nigeria weren't true as portrayed outside the world.

Ghana and Nigeria have been at 'war' on social media over politics, entertainment and most importantly, food (especially jollof).

But the "Bodak Yellow" hitmaker says the rift between the two countries is just like Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

"I didn't know that the beef between Ghana and Nigeria is fake. They are just like Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico – they love each other but they fake beef with each other," she told her Instagram fans.

She added that she wished she had more time to spend in Ghana and Nigeria because she enjoyed her stay.

"But I like both countries. I wish I had more time to spend in both countries. I had fun everything."

Historic citizenship bill passed by India excludes Muslims

Historic citizenship bill passed by India excludes Muslims

Vote sparks days of violent protests in Assam, with critics claiming law fits with PM's Hindu nationalist agenda

India's ruling Hindu nationalist government has won parliamentary approval for a controversial law that would make it easier for refugees of certain faiths from neighbouring countries to gain citizenship, but not Muslims.

The Citizenship Amendment Bill seeks to grant Indian nationality to Buddhists, Christians, Hindus, Jains, Parsis and Sikhs who fled Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan before 2015.

Critics say the law undermines the country's secular constitution. The opposition party has described it as driven by "bigotry and narrow-minded exclusion" and it has been condemned by rights activists and Islamic groups, sparking violent protests.

The bill passed the upper house of India's parliament with 125 members supporting it and 105 opposing on Wednesday, a day after clearing the lower house. It now awaits presidential assent, a formality before becoming law.

The decision came after two days of violent protests in Assam state's Dibrugarh district , during which police fired rubber bullets, tear gas and used batons against demonstrators, who lit fires and blocked highways and railway lines.

A curfew was imposed in Gauhati, the state capital, and army soldiers were standing by in case the violence escalated, state police official Mukesh Aggarwal said, while the Press Trust of India said the federal government was airlifting nearly 5,000 paramilitary soldiers to the region.

Protesters say they oppose the legislation out of concern that migrants who came to the country illegally will move to the border region in the northeast and dilute the culture and political sway of indigenous tribal people.

Introducing the bill in the upper house on Wednesday, home minister Amit Shah insisted the bill was not anti-Muslim because it did not affect the existing path to citizenship available to all communities.

It seeks to address the difficulties of Hindus and other minorities who suffered persecution in Muslim-majority Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, Mr Shah said.

His justification was echoed by prime minister Narendra Modi, who defended the bill as "in line with India's centuries-old ethos of assimilation and belief in humanitarian values".

Critics say the bill fits into Mr Modi's Hindu nationalist agenda, and have been joined in their criticism by the US government's commission for international religious freedom (CIRF).

The CIRF criticised the bill as going against "India's rich history of secular pluralism and the Indian Constitution," and pledged to seek US sanctions against Mr Shah if it passed through parliament.

The US commission's statement "is neither accurate nor warranted", a spokesperson for India's External Affairs Ministry said.

"Such an initiative should be welcomed, not criticised, by those who are genuinely committed to religious freedom," he asserted.

Yomi Black replies Toke Makinwa: ”I do not take offense with your backlash, I only wish you would tell us how you really make a living”

Posted: 11 Dec 2019 06:30 AM PST

Filmmaker, Yomi Black, has replied Toke Makinwa who dragged him on her IG page over his controversial post about her.

Trouble started on Sunday December 8th when Yomi Black reposted an Instagram post by Digital marketer, Soji Ogunnaike, who dared the media personality to openly show how she can afford her lifestyle.

Toke found Yomi's post distasteful and took to her IG page to drag him.

Well, Yomi took to his IG page this morning to reply her.

Read his response below:

On this issue, I would like to say I understand why Toke responded the way she did. The bloggers set a trap for her and she fell for it. I admit I saw Soji Ogunaike's comment on Instablog and I thought it was very interesting, especially since Soji dared her to show how she made a living.

I shared it because I really thought there was a lesson there. In the post I made it clear that it was copied from Soji Ogunaike, but the bloggers reported the story and cropped out the credit to insight a war between Toke and I. They even made the headlines more interesting by saying I (Yomi Black) dared her to show how she earns her living.

The truth is Toke and I go way back, because of our friendship, we have done a few projects in the past. As a young entrepreneur, you have to leverage your friends when you are growing.

All of those projects benefited both of us in many ways, I remember at least one that benefitted us financially (a YouTube video campaign for Chicken republic in 2013). I also remember that I did a series of photoshoots for her to launch her Vlogs on YouTube.

Fast forward to 2017, I was creating a big budget Tv series #MRBADMUS, I had loads of opportunities to promote products, and naturally I thought of my friends doing well. I reach out too many of them and offered to promote their brand on the TV show for free. I reached out to Toke especially because I wanted to compensate her for some of the projects we worked on in 2013 that did not yield financially, but at that time, Toke was at the peak of attention, so I am guessing she didn't need it.
So naturally I gave that opportunity to someone else.

The truth is I do love Toke and her ambition inspires me, only a few people can do what needs to be done to get the Job . I am one, so I know the scarifies.

Toke asked me a question that got me thinking "who have you helped?" The truth is I am a pillar of support to many people, and I do it without the cameras.

Finally, I will say to Toke, I do not take offense with your backlash, I understand that the bloggers are to blame, I only wished you used that opportunity to tell us how you really make a living. Especially for the young ones watching".

Anthony Joshua confidently says: ‘Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury are the best in the world, but I’d beat them’

Posted: 11 Dec 2019 01:00 AM PST

IBF, WBA, IBO and WBO boxing champion of the world, Anthony Joshua has stated that he will like to fight Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury and he has the necessary style and technique to beat them both.

Tyson Fury and Wilder are the only undefeated heavyweight boxers in the division, and fans are hoping for a mega fight that will involve Joshua and either Fury or Wilder after Joshua defeated Andy Ruiz unanimously in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night to take back his heavyweight belts.

Fury will face Wilder on February 22 in Las Vegas in a rematch that is sure to spin heads with the Lineal heavyweight belt and WBC belts on the link, after their last fight in 2018 was adjudged a draw despite Fury being the more technical and clinical of the pair.

Fury and Wilder have both been critical of Joshua with both fighters accusing Joshua of avoiding them for the last two years but Joshua has now come out to say he will beat both fighters if and when they ever fight.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain programme live from Saudi Arabia on Monday morning, Joshua was asked whether he was going to fight them next and said: "I would love to make that my next fight.

"I'm taking it one step at a time. Whenever they are ready they know where to find us. I'm not a running champion, I'm someone who will fight the best in the world.

"Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury are those guys. I'd love the opportunity to beat Wilder or Fury.
"You can see I'd beat them.

"I've displayed different styles of fighting. Sometimes inside fighting, sometimes knockout fighting and sometimes a boxing man's fight.
"So I feel like I have their number because I can display a variety of skills when it comes to boxing."

There's also the possibility of Joshua defending his IBF belt against mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev, and Joshua says he'll relish it.

Asked about the prospect of fighting the Bulgarian bruiser in London, AJ said:

"It would be mega. Looking at how many people came out here shows there's still a big interest in the heavyweight division, especially now we are taking the belts back.

"To defend them back on home soil would be big news.It would be better against another Brit but, if not, I will follow my mandatory and crack on that way.

"London's calling, I think. We've been away for the whole year but it's nice to have a breather.
"It's nice to have a bit of controversy, a bit of doubt.

It just shows that British supporters do play a big part in my career. Any time I'm on home soil I can't lose.

"The work begins again because around March I'll be defending those titles again. I'm already focusing on my next fight."
