| Late Da Grin’s brother, Trod pleads with Olamide on IG to pick his call Posted: 10 Jan 2020 11:00 PM PST  It's been roughly ten years since Nigerian indigenous rapper, Dagrin passed on and since his demise, it's been an eternal debate that the rapper paved the way for indigenous music in the Nigerian music scene.More argumentative is the fact that a lot of people think that current top Nigerian indigenous rapper, Olamide would not have rose to stardom if Dagrin had not died.Over time, Olamide has spoken out against the comparison of himself and the late rapper over what would have been if the latter was still alive.About 3 years ago, he revealed he never even met the late rapper before he died. In an interview with Olisa Adibua on talk show, 'The Truth', the rapper disclosed that he never met the late Dagrin. "I never met him", Olamide said. "I never met him at all". The late rapper's brother, Trod, an upcoming artiste who seems to be following in the steps of his late brother, seems like he wants a collaboration of some sort with Olamide but the latter doesn't seem to give him an audience. Trod, a budding artiste with over 170k on his Instagram page, took to his IG stories to beg Olamide 'Baddo' to pick his call. This has got people wondering if Olamide's failure to respond is deliberate – meaning he's not looking forward to working with Trod or it's just nothing to fuss about as he's not had to time to respond to the artiste.   |

| South Africans Give African Nationals a 12-hour Eviction Notice Posted: 10 Jan 2020 09:00 PM PST  A fresh crisis may be underway in South Africa as some indigenes of Keimoes and Upington areas of Northern Cape Province have given Nigerians and other foreign nationals a 12-hour ultimatum to vacate their communities.According to The Cable, the president of Nigeria Union in South Africa, Adetola Olubajo, made this known in a statement on Thursday.According to Olubajo, the notice comes after an "ugly incident" that took place on Wednesday between a police officer and a Nigerian.Olubajo said that the Nigerian man allegedly stabbed to death the police officer, Nico Visagie, during a disagreement.Olubajo also disclosed that details of the incident are still very sketchy, as the "major witness" was also stabbed multiple times and was still in critical condition at the hospital. He said: After the horrific incident, the community members of Keimoes and environs went on rampage burning and destroying properties belonging to foreign nationals, Nigerians in particular. These attacks spread to Upington and Nigerians and other foreign nationals were also expelled from Upington. Prompt Police intervention this morning brought about calm but the situation is still tensed. Some locals were arrested by the police for public disturbance and malicious damage to properties. They appeared in a magistrates' court this morning for bail hearing. We commend the swift intervention of the members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) and the arrest of the suspect is a welcome development," he said. We hope the police will continue to maintain law and order in the area. He added that the suspect who stabbed the police officer has been arrested and will appear in court on or before Monday.  |

This didn't sit well with the male reality star as who felt she was in support of his ex-lover spitting his current girlfriend so he blocked both Tacha and Gigi Money on Instagram. Mercy had also shared a cryptic post directed at the Tanzanian lady. Gigy also had an Instagram live session where she blasted him for blocking her and also threatened to beat up Mercy. | Posted: 10 Jan 2020 05:00 AM PST  A US-based Nigerian man, who returned to Lagos for the Christmas holiday, shared a traumatising video purportedly showing police officers brutalizing him and his friends. In the video, which wasn't very clear since it happened at night, Taylor and his friends can be heard arguing with men believed to be police officers. Taylor said he and his friends were on their way back from the beach last night, January 8, when the officers stopped and asked to search their car. He said they were accused of being Yahoo boys and were rough handled. Taylor said they were "beaten", treated like "criminals" and were bleeding by the time the officers were done with them. In the video, Taylor and his friends are seen asking the officers what they had done but the officers didn't give a reason, instead, they turned violent when they realized they were being filmed. They are heard struggling for the phone and asking that the video be deleted, but Taylor told them it was a live stream. Sharing the video to Instagram, Taylor said: Change! Change! Change! Complete change in every sector is what is needed in Nigeria. What seemed like perfect vacation almost ended in tragedy last night.Heading home last night after a fun last night was ruined by one of my biggest fears as a black man; Police brutality. On Monday 6th of January 2020 morning, at about 2am, I was heading home from Moist beach after a fun night out with a couple of my friends @gabrielanthonys @drewbaba @tissiekholors . Some policemen stopped our car abruptly without telling us what our offense was. They rushed to the back seat and started dragging us out of the vehicle. One of the them started saying "they are yahoo boys, take their phones". Scared, worried & frightened as I was, I did the smart thing of bringing out my phone to record the bullying and harassment from the men in uniform.I was dragged on the floor, hit on the back and even started bleeding from my hands and other parts of my body that were bruised.In that moment I wondered what I had done wrong to be treated like a criminal and fearful thoughts ran through me like a wave of electricity . One of the police officers even fired his gun.What if it had hit me?What if it had landed on any of my friends?How would have my family and our loved ones cope with the trauma? A fun filled vacation turned to a bloody nightmare. I had to beg strangers passing by to intervene but you trust Nigerian people to drive off as far it doesn't concern them but it definitely does and it's us to each and everyone of us to say something stand up for our rights. I'm just glad I left the situation with my life and just an injury on my hand and some bruises.I saw blood. My shirt was stained but I am glad my life and my friends weren't taken away. I was very traumatized.I hear and see it happen a lot online but on this day I wasn't just a spectator, I was the actor in the tragic movie of hostility. I took some days off social media to recuperate and heal. Thank you to everyone who reached out. Thank you for your calls, texts and messages and giving me information on what I should do next time in case it happens again.To anyone going to Lagos,Nigeria PLEASE BE CAREFUL   |
