| Man laments as he narrates how he lost an appointment due to nepotism Posted: 15 Feb 2020 12:00 AM PST  A Nigerian man who claims he was denied a job opportunity due to nepotism, took to Facebook to narrate his unpleasant experience.Olumide Adebayo said he received a text inviting him for an interview, and had to drive from Ekiti to Lagos for the interview. However, when he got to the venue, he was told he had no business being there.Olumide alleged that his name had been replaced with another candidate's name "that was recommended by a notable political office holder".He said this act caused him "sleepless night". He called for an end to nepotism and said he hopes for a time when employment will be based on merit.He wrote:You're invited for Commissioners' interview @ the Civil Serv. Comm. which will hold from Weds 12th February, 2020. Come for your Commissioners' interview invitation and time table as from tmrw, 11th Feb. from 10am @ Appointment department. I actually woke up to this above text on my phone yesterday morning , the 11th of Feb. and drove down to Ekiti from Lagos. A journey that was supposed to take approximately 5hours drive, but i was able to cover up in not more than 3hours(you can imagine the risk right!) just to make sure i do every necessary thing required of me before the interview. On getting to the commission, i realized my name wasn't on the pasted list, so i decided to inquire from one of the Admin officers. He checked from the master list and looked straight into my eyes in a displeasure manner, shake his head in a pity mood and told me "SORRY, THE TEXT YOU RECEIVED WAS BY ERROR", you are not qualified. Behold, my name had been replaced by another candidate that was recommended by a notable politician/political office holder. The one and only political office holder that i know within the state wasn't even picking up my calls, neither was he responding to my text When will things like this stop in Nigeria? When will Nigeria start employing people on merit? Enough is enough!!! If i didn't receive the text, i wouldn't have been bothered. I wouldn't have wasted 12 thousand Naira to be in Ekiti. I wouldn't have put my life on risk of high speed. Anyways, i just think i should put this on facebook for future reference and to serve as a public notice that our government are only offering employment to people they know and not those who are merited. #SleeplessNight   | ||

A mysterious fireball sightings from Malaysia's Johor Bahru and Singapore on Wednesday, has been reported by the website of the International Meteor Organization.The user nicknamed Violet Crystal has posted a dashcam footage of what looked like a fireball falling from the night sky above the Malaysian city of Johor Bahru.The user claimed that the short clip was filmed about 5 a.m. local time on Wednesday, with the International Meteor Organization's website noting, in turn, that there were at least four reports of fireball sightings from Singapore and Johor Bahru at the time.
The footage was reposted to the All Singapore Stuff Facebook news outlet's Facebook page where it has already been viewed more than 100,000 times. The comments included those from Singaporeans who said that they were surprised to see the space object from places including Loyang, Bartley, and Hougang. "Saw this at Loyang at 5am! Same time stamp! I thought Singapore was under attacked! [sic] Phew thank god it wasn't an hallucination [sic]", the user named Izzat Asyraf Nahrawi wrote. Singapore space enthusiasts from the Astronomy.SG group, however, told the Coconuts Singapore media outlet that there was no record of the Wednesday event with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) or the European Space Agency (ESA). "Our team was unaware of any such incident until recently. From the video evidence, we cannot confirm the nature of the object. We do not have hard proof that it did hit the ground and there is no data from NASA and the ESA confirming it is a meteorite at this present moment. Our best guess is that it is a meteor that burned up before hitting land, or a fragment of a larger meteorite that entered the atmosphere", the group asserted. Source  | ||

Tuface, reacting, expressed sorrow over the death of Olaiya. | Odion Ighalo banned from Manchester United training ground over fears of coronavirus Posted: 14 Feb 2020 04:30 AM PST  Odion Ighalo has been banned from Manchester United's training ground over fears of a potential coronavirus risk.Recall the Nigerian international traveled from China, though not from Wuhan where the virus originated, to the UK to seal his move from Chinese club Shanghai Shenhua until the end of the season.The former Watford striker who has been working with a personal trainer at a separate location in Manchester was instructed to train away from United's AON Training Complex for health and safety issues.The 30-year-old did not also travel with the United squad to a warm-weather training camp in Spain, which was down to concerns border restrictions as it would have affected his re-entry to the UK from Spain.According to Mirror, United decided to take the precautionary decision to make Ighalo train away from the club's Carrington base over his mandated 14-day incubation period.Explaining Ighalo's absence from the warm-weather training camp, Solskjaer said: "Odion will stay in Manchester, because since he has come from China in the last 14 days, the news of the virus there means we're not sure if he's going to be allowed back into England if he leaves the country again. "So he's staying here working with a personal coach on an individual programme and his family then can settle in England as well. That's a plus. "Of course, he might have liked to have come with the players and got to know them, but we don't want to take that risk [of potential border restrictions tightening]." The announcement sparked off a controversy on social media as some fans of Tacha accused her of copying their star who recently launched hers.  Tacha acknowledged the claim made by her fans and also disclosed that "she knows she is winning" because she is getting copied. She also acknowledged a Twitter campaign which came with hashtag of #Tachadiditfirst.
