Pete Edochie insists ‘Any young man that gets down on his knees to propose to a girl is a bloody fool’

Posted: 21 Feb 2020 11:00 PM PST

Veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie, has once again kicked against men going down on their knees to propose to a girl.

Recall that in January, a video of the actor speaking in Igbo and condemning the act of men kneeling to propose to their girlfriends went viral.

The actor was spotted recently and was asked to speak on wedding proposals, and again, he vehemently kicked against men going down on their knees to propose.

According to him, any man who does that is not "just an idiot but a compound buffon.

Any young man who gets down on his knees to propose to a girl is not just an idiot, he is a bloody fool, a compound buffoon. We try to copy white people.

I believce in the sancrosanctity of our culture, the essence and the core of our culture. The white man knees down to propose to a girl. You know what it means, the girl takes over the family. This is why whenever you disagree with a wife oversea, you are kicked out and your wife takes the house.

Young men who should be in charge of their destinies hand it over to women. That makes you all fools."

When informed that it is love that makes men go down on their knees to propose, Edochie said

"I have lived with my wife for 51 years, nobody has said stop beating this woman.

Knee down before your wife, I will sympathize with you when she takes over the home" he said

Omah Lay releases new single titled 'You'

Posted: 21 Feb 2020 06:30 AM PST

The song is blessed with an impressive hook and the powers of 'I Love You.'

Date: February 14, 2020

Song Title: You

Artist: Omah Lay

Genre: R&B, Synth Pop, Dancehall

Producer: TBA

Album: TBA

Video Director: TBA

Label: Keyqaad

Details/Takeaway: A lot of times, the music is good, but it lacks resonance. Built on an R&B rhythm that rides dancehall progression and percussion, Omah Lay sings his heart out in his pungent vocals.Asides the very defly produced beat, Omah Lay is a master with everything associated with this song's hook.

It doesn't matter what the verse represents, Omah Lay kills the bridge and the hook as he 'washes' a faceless woman with the 'demonic' throes of lyrical poetry. The message is also central, "I Love You."

Rema's first single in 2020 features Rvssian titled 'Beamer (Bad Boys)'

Posted: 21 Feb 2020 06:00 AM PST

Date: February 20, 2020

Song Title: Beamer (Bad Boys)

Artist:Rema featuring Rvssian

Genre: Dancehall

Producer: Rvssian

Album: TBA

Video Director: TBA

Label: Jonzing/MAVIN

Details/Takeaway: Rema marks his first single of 2020 with a dancehall rhythm. Rvssian hovers above this song with his electro-dancehall influence and the accompanying deliveries.

Thoughts: This track is where Rema's cross-over truly begins. For the longest, I've been saying he'll be Nigeria's first true cross-over star and when he crosses over, he won't be making afrobeats. It's happening - this is a strategic move, not a single.

Nigerians reacts hilariously as it’s revealed that Chloroquine effectively inhibits coronavirus infection and spread

Posted: 21 Feb 2020 04:30 AM PST

Report states that an old malaria drug known as Chloroquine effectively inhibits coronavirus infection and spread.

In a three-page paper published in Cell Research, scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology's State Key Laboratory of Virology wrote that both Chloroquine and the antiviral Remdesivir were, individually, "highly effective" at inhibiting replication of the novel coronavirus in cell culture.

According to the paper, an efficient approach to drug discovery is to test whether the existing antiviral drugs are effective in treating related viral infections.

Several FAD-approved drugs were tested, including ribavirin, penciclovir, nitazoxanide, nafamostat, chloroquine and two well-known broad-spectrum antiviral drugs remdesivir and favipiravir against a clinical isolate of 2019-nCoV (coronavirus) in vitro.

Among the tested drugs, two compounds – remdesivir and chloroquine -potently blocked virus infection at low-micromolar concentration and showed high SI, it was revealed.

Remdesivir has been recently recognized as a promising antiviral drug against a wide array of RNA viruses (including SARS/MERS-CoV) infection in cultured cells, mice and nonhuman primate (NHP) models. It is currently under clinical development for the treatment of Ebola virus infection.

Chloroquine, a widely-used anti-malarial and autoimmune disease drug, has recently been reported as a potential broad-spectrum antiviral drug. Chloroquine is known to block virus infection by increasing endosomal pH required for virus/cell fusion. Besides its antiviral activity, chloroquine has an immune-modulating activity, which may synergistically enhance its antiviral effect in vivo.

The scientists concluded by stating: "Our findings reveal that remdesivir and chloroquine are highly effective in the control of 2019-nCoV (coronavirus) infection in vitro. Since these compounds have been used in human patients with a safety track record and shown to be effective against various ailments, we suggest that they should be assessed in human patients suffering from the novel coronavirus disease."

When Nigerians heard about the effectiveness of chloroquine in treating coronavirus, they took to Twitter to react to it and to reminisce on their experiences using chloroquine while growing up.

Gospel artiste, Nathaniel Bassey: ‘Relocating to Canada doesn’t guarantee success’

Posted: 21 Feb 2020 03:00 AM PST

Gospel musician, Nathaniel Bassey has taken to social media to warn that relocating to Canada doesn't guarantee success.

The convener of Halleluyah Challenge revealed that where God wants one to be is actually where one ought to be.

He shared:

"Relocating to Canada doesn't guarantee success. Being where God would have you be is the secret. Ur provision is normally tied to ur divine location and placement. And if it's Canada, Great! But make sure you're where God wants you to be and not just following the trend.

"And let me add that if God says leave Nigeria, staying back here would amount to living outside of His will for your life. The key here is being where God would have you be. Even if it's Iraq".

"If this tweet offends you and you are about to relocate, it's probably a pointer that you aren't supposed to. Truth is, if you really are supposed to, and are a believer, you would be at peace and at rest, regardless of this post. When we are in Faith and in God's will, there is REST & assurance.

"Please if you want to go to Canada, please do so. I have only offered a SPIRITUAL ADVICE based on the number of prayer request we get on this issue. But one thing I can say and emphasize is this, I have seen a number of people virtually alter their lives because they relocated outside of God's will. He that hath an ear will hear", he concluded.

"94% of marriage breakups in Nollywood is caused by disloyalty from popular actresses… I dont want to mention any name because most of the actresses involved are not just colleagues but also close #friends, but sometimes the truth is bitter. If you take a closer look at all the recent #marriage breakup in our industry, you will notice a pattern, disloyalty, some actresses actually allow their #celebrity status restrain their duty of total loyalty to their #husbands, and before you know it, one thing leads to another. I am not saying this because my prayers brought Chioma and @davidoofficial together, but if popular actresses in #Nollywood were loyal to their ex-husbands like Chioma is to #Davido right now, there would be no breakups."
