Project Associate Job with Dexis Consulting Group for Senior or Recent Grad

About the Position
Dexis is seeking a Project Associate to be part of our Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team supporting the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) Office of Western Hemisphere Programs (INL/WHP) at the Department of State (DOS). Under the current task order Dexis works to develop M&E policies and procedures, including performance measures and an M&E data management system, using both domestic staff based in Washington, D.C. and M&E Specialists at Embassy Posts throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. The work location for this position will be in Washington, DC. This is a full-time position that will:

Responsibilities
  • Provide operations assistance to project staff, and backstop country and DC-based programs
  • Assist in contract compliance and tracking financials, including budget and expenses.
  • Review expense reports and subcontractor invoices.
  • Recruit project staff and consultants, write scopes of work, and engage directly with consultants.
  • Research new business development opportunities in capture efforts.
  • Provide direct support to live business development opportunities, writing past performance sections, staffing and workplans.
  • Manage small proposal efforts including liaising with potential staff and partners
  • Liaise with payroll providers in Latin America and the Caribbean
  • When requested, conduct literature and desk reviews for evaluations, support development of data collection instruments and provide technical support to field teams.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • One (1) year of experience working in an international development environment.
  • Understanding of USG procurement and compliance regulations.
  • Skills in budget development and financial tracking using Microsoft Excel.
  • Bachelor's degree in a social science, international development, public policy or related field.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
  • Ability to travel overseas, when requested
Preferred Requirements:
  • Knowledge of Salesforce and GovWin is a plus.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Experience in grant writing and proposal development.

Bias Incident Support Services

The Hate-Bias Response Program has a new name—Bias Incident Support Services (BISS for short). But what you probably don't know yet is that BISS director Neijma Celestine-Donnor is offering virtual check-in hours to provide support, advocacy and guidance for those impacted by hate-bias incidents.

"Unfortunately, the switch to virtual learning and working during COVID-19 has also seen an increase in online hate-bias incidents," Celestine-Donnor says. "BISS wants our campus community to know that we are here for them and we want to ensure that impacted parties receive ongoing and continued support."

Virtual Presentation: How to Write a Federal Resume

Summer Humanitarian Policy and Practice Internship

Position description
InterAction's HPP Team is seeking applications for unpaid Summer 2020 internship position(s) in Washington, DC. InterAction is the largest alliance of U.S.-based international nongovernmental organizations (INGOs) working in every developing country.

Primary ResponsibilitiesThe specific work of an intern will be based upon an individual's learning and professional goals, as tied to the initiatives of InterAction's Humanitarian Policy & Practice (HPP) Team.
Additional responsibilities may include:
  • Providing administrative and logistical support for meetings, including writing summaries of the proceedings, and other activities of the HPP team;
  • Completing research, outreach to members, and other projects as needed by humanitarian team's work streams;
  • Participating in various fora, including outside meetings at think tanks or the Hill;
  • Debriefing to the team at the internship's conclusion on learning and/or a work task completed.
Learning Objectives:
  • Understand the linkage between international policy and programming in the humanitarian field;
  • Understand core elements of the global humanitarian architecture, including the roles of the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC), UN, and NGO community;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of technical, thematic, or regional issues related to the work of the HPP team;
  • Gain experience working in a professional, collaborative team environment;
  • Develop communication, writing, and task/time management skills.
Additional Opportunities:
  • An intern can expect to gain the following experiences beyond daily work duties through:
  • Attendance at InterAction working group meetings – access to meetings of members and InterAction staff on a variety of current issues within the humanitarian assistance field;
  • On-the-job learning about the humanitarian architecture, advocacy, policy, and operations;
  • Access to senior-level staff members at InterAction for informational interviews;
  • Informal networking with InterAction staff members and individuals from more than 180 member organizations.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

Internship will range between 20 to 40 hours per week. Most work will occur at InterAction's office, located in northwest Washington, DC. A small monthly travel reimbursement of $50 is available. A typical internship runs from May – August, but start and end dates are flexible.

Summer Internships with the Center for Responsible Travel (Remote)

CREST Program and Research Interns provide assistance on research and consulting projects, as well as provide general support when needed for CREST programming. This internship is a great opportunity for someone looking to expand their knowledge of responsible and sustainable travel in hospitality, events, and/or destination management. Successful candidates may be studying tourism, hospitality, international relations, international development, sustainable development, environmental management, or a similar field.

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, creative individual who'd like to gain experience working in the nonprofit sector. CREST is based in Washington, DC, however, due to the impacts of COVID-19, we are accepting applications only from candidates who are able to fully participate in the internship remotely. Our staff is currently teleworking and our office will reopen when it is safe to do so.

Intern responsibilities will include:
  • Assisting with research and analysis on sustainable travel, particularly on Cuba, Mexico, US, and Caribbean projects
  • Conducting research and coordinating activities to support program development around Tourism in a Changing Climate
  • Supporting research and coordination of a handbook on impact tourism and a book on overtourism
  • Conducting research for and helping to prepare for the release of CREST's 2020 The Case for Responsible Travel: Trends & Statistics
  • Helping to organize fundraising Travel Auctions
  • Assisting with the growth of CREST's Academic Affiliates network and impact tourism program
  • Assisting with some administrative tasks
CREST asks that interns be available for a minimum of 20 hours per week, for a minimum of three months during the Summer period. (The start and end date of the internship is flexible depending upon the student, but mid-May to mid-August is the most common time period.)

As the internship is unpaid, preference will be given to students seeking academic credit. [Check with the instructor of your preferred course regarding the eligibility of the internship for that course.]  Graduate students are preferred, though consideration will be given to exceptional undergraduates. To conduct remote work, interns must also have reliable access to the Internet and be available for check-ins via phone or video conferencing.

Introducing OMSE's new online tutoring service! This is the first time that OMSE will be offering online tutoring services. We are honored to be able to start this brand new project with you!
