Nigerian Pastor "5G and Coronavirus have no link with coming of Anti-Christ"

Posted: 12 Apr 2020 11:00 PM PDT

The Presiding Pastor, Living Spring International, Femi Emmanuel, has warned Nigerians against trending reports linking 5G and coronavirus to the coming of Anti-Christ, The PUNCH reports.

Emmanuel spoke during the Fresh 105.9FM COVID-19 Situation Room interview session on Good Friday.

According to him, 5G is a creation of Information Technology and an advancement that will help the people to do things with flexibility and at a higher speed than being presently done.

Although he noted that the raging virus was one of the pestilences that could signal the end of time, the clergyman said, "5G is basically technology. We already had 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G.

"5G is an advancement of technology that would help us to do things at a greater speed than we are doing now. It has nothing to do with COVID-19 at all.

"The Holy Bible already foretold that at the end of time, there would be pestilence. Coronavirus is related to that. Coronavirus has always been, only that this brand is totally new.

"Those who are relating 666 to what is happening now have forgotten that the whole concept of 666 and the Anti-Christ would be post-rapture.

"We should ask them, has rapture taken place? People are destroyed for lack of knowledge."

The cleric, who described COVID-19 as a leveler, said, "I believe this is a dress rehearsal for the coming of Jesus Christ. The scriptures say the trumpet shall sound and Jesus would appear in the sky and they say how can. Now, just one virus has come into the world and there is trepidation in the whole world."

As the world raced towards scientific solutions, he said, "There are things that God has given us a brain to solve. God gave us the brain so that we can give Him rest. God heals in two ways; supernaturally and through medical assistance, so one of our prayers should include God, help us to discover the vaccine that can cure the virus."

COVID-19 Lockdown: President Buhari – ‘Lockdown Will Last As Long As Necessary’

Posted: 12 Apr 2020 10:00 PM PDT

President Muhammadu Buhari says the restriction of movement in several states will remain as long as experts find it necessary.

Buhari had ordered a 14-day lockdown in Lagos, Ogun and the federal capital territory to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Some state governments had also declared curfew to restrict movement of persons and ensure social distancing.

In a statement on Saturday, Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, quoted Buhari as saying the lockdown is a major attempt to tackle the spread of COVID-19.

He acknowledged the efforts of Nigerians as well as the sacrifices made during the stay at home period.

"We realize that today, there will be sons and daughters unable to visit their parents, and elders that are isolated from young ones. And there will be those who live day-to-day, eating as they earn, who face real and present suffering," he said.

"No elected government could ask more of the citizens of the country that elected them than today we ask of you. But we must ask you – once more – to observe restrictions on movement where they are in place, and follow the instructions of our scientists and medical advisers: stay home, wash your hands, save lives.

"The freedoms we ask you to willingly forsake today will only last as long as our scientific advisers declare they are necessary. But they are essential – world over – to halt and defeat the spread of this virus."

He also spoke about palliatives, asking people to get updates on how to be beneficiaries from the media.

The president said no vaccine has been found to cure to the virus, adding that the defeat of coronavirus in the country lies in the hands of Nigerians.

"For those who suffer most egregiously, the Government has announced multiple measures to assist: 70,000 tonnes of grain is being released from the National Strategic Grain Reserves for distribution to those in most need; distribution of small cash payments are also being made, and will continue to be made by the federal government in the states and local government areas," he said.

"We ask you to listen and follow public announcements via the mass media for instructions as to how to receive this government support – and learn of more public assistance in the coming days.

"All that the Government is asking you to endure is because nowhere in the world today is there any known way of defeating this pandemic. There is no vaccine. And that means there are choices to be made: between continuing as usual, or accepting the restrictions even when they come with unintended consequences.

"But at this darkest hour, it remains our duty to offer you the full and unvarnished truth: This is a global pandemic. 210 countries and territories across the globe are affected. We cannot expect others to come to our assistance. No one is coming to defeat this virus for us.

"Instead, the defeat of the virus in our country will be in our hands, alone. We cannot wait for others. We can only depend on ourselves now. And so we must – and we will – end this outbreak ourselves as Nigerians, together".

Nigeria has continued to record an increase in number of confirmed coronavirus cases.

As of Friday evening, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) announced the confirmation of 17 new cases, bringing the total figure to 305.

She said, "I like this coronavirus period. Though there has been a lot of crisis, it has given me time to spend on myself. A lot of people can't even look at themselves in the mirror; they don't like who they have become.
"This is the time for everybody to look within and ask themselves important questions such as — 'Who am I becoming'? This is a time for everybody to try to level up. It's a time to become better. It is a curse on one hand because people are dying, but it's also a blessing on the other hand."

Cee-C, who is a lawyer, also revealed why she dumped law to pursue her passion in the entertainment industry.

She added, "When I went for Big Brother Naija, I wasn't so sure of what I wanted to do in the entertainment industry. But being in the house, it became clearer by the day. While in the house, I made up my mind that I wasn't going to practise law that rather, I would find my niche in the entertainment industry."

On how she has been able to maintain her focus despite being a celebrity, Nwadiora said, "It is very easy for people in my position to want the fanciful life, glamour and adventure. It is very easy for me to do that. But I try to remain focused because if I want to achieve my goals, I need to make certain sacrifices."

Cee-C also noted that her fans started loving her from the Big Brother house when she was still a mess.

"I haven't figured out how to reward my fans. Every day, I think about this people. They didn't just start loving me now. They started loving me right from the Big Brother house when I was still a mess.

"I think about them every day and I'm still yet to figure out what exactly I want to do for them because most times, they are not doing what they do because of what they stand to gain from me; they do it because they genuinely love and support me. Right now, I am trying to always give them reasons to be proud of me. I'm doing my best to make them proud," she said.

Ebola virus remains in Congo as new case of the virus infection was confirmed in the country. This was made known in a statement by the World Health Organization (WHO) made the announcement on Friday April 10.

WHO in the new statement disclosed that the new case was confirmed in Beni, a town at the heart of the epidemic in eastern DRC.

The patient died on Thursday morning in a hospital after showing symptoms several days earlier.

The new case of the deadly disease was confirmed 52 days after the last case was recorded. Until Friday, no new cases had been registered since February 17.

WHO said in a statement;

"Preliminary information shows that he is a 26-year-old man in Beni territory," the multisectoral committee for the response to the epidemic said in a statement.

"Our teams, in collaboration with the WHO, are already on the ground to deepen the investigations and implement public health actions."

The country planned on Monday April 13, to declare an end to the outbreak which emerged in August 2018 and has since killed more than 2,200 people.

WHO Director-General, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus tweeted;

"After 52 days without a case, surveillance & response teams on the ground have confirmed a new case. We have been preparing for and expecting more cases.

"Unfortunately, this means the government of DRC will not be able to declare an end to the Ebola outbreak on Monday, as hoped. But WHO remains on the ground and committed as ever to working with the government, affected communities and our partners to end the outbreak."

The outbreak has seen the use of experimental Ebola vaccines, a welcome development which has helped in rolling back the disease.
