Controversial prophet, Chukwuemeka Odumeje has finally spoken on the source of his money and power.

According to Odumeje, if you serve a true living God, you must be rich, because God is a rich God.

Going further, Odumeje said he always preaches to members of his congregation that God shows himself through his miracles. "If there is no miracle, there is no God," he said.

Odumeje also said that there is only one God and one power and that it is Jesus. He said if people feel someone else gave him spiritual powers, then the person should come out to reveal himself.

The controversial prophet was recently challenged by a popular native doctor in Arondizuogu after he allegedly spoke against late herbalist Pericoma and the people of Arondizuogu.

On 6 May, a video had surfaced on social media where Odumeje could be heard saying Pericoma's children are of no use to the society and also that the People of Arondizuogu are very poor over their involvement in fetish practices.

In a follow up video, Villagers and elders could be seen sitting at the big shrine while a Native doctor performed Rituals against Prophet Odumeje.

The native Doctor called on all their gods to come out and fight prophet Odumeje for condemning it.

He further accused prophet Odumeje of getting his power from India, adding that he cannot get his power from a foreign land and test in their Own Land.

Odumeje had debunked such claims about the source of his wealth, insisting that his wealth and power comes from God alone.

The remake of 'Nneka the Pretty Serpent' and all you need to know about the anticipated movie

Posted: 13 May 2020 06:30 AM PDT

The upcoming thriller will explore some of the original story's unanswered questions.

In April, Play Network Studio announced a six-man team at the helm of the production of its remake of 1992 classic thriller, 'Nneka The Pretty Serpent' and on Monday May 5, 2020, it unveiled seasoned copy and screen writer, Baruch Apata as the winner of its February call for screenwriters.

With the studio's latest announcement comes the golden question- what should fans expect? Seeing as the original story focuses on a mystical character who embarks on a mission to destroy marriages, how will the upcoming remake play around with the story and have it appeal to its millennial audience?

The remake's screenwriter recently spoke briefly with Pulse on how the story seeks to answer some of the original story's unanswered questions.

"Expect to see scenes and faces from the original story but ideas not explored before", Apata reveals. "The story will take a global approach with a background story that answers some questions that the original story barely explores".

Bringing the upcoming remake to life is Tosin Igho as director alongside Ramsey Nouah, Chris Odeh and Chinenye Esuene as producers. According to executive producer, Charles Okpaleke, the movie's theatrical release is billed for December 2020.

The Zeb Ejiro directed original was a fan-favorite for a number of reasons but primarily for the simplicity of its story and arguably, its language. If the upcoming remake will approach its story using subtitles is still unclear but evidently, the story promises a mind blowing experience.

Mayorkun's 'Of Lagos & Zlatan's 'Of Lay Lay..Two different songs cutting from 'Lagos'

Posted: 13 May 2020 06:30 AM PDT

In 2017, Nigerian star, Mayorkun launched onto the Nigerian music scene with two new singles in 'Eleko' and 'Sade.' It was around that period that he also signed to Davido's record label, DMW. A year later, he won Next Rated at the 2018 Headies.

For years, Mayor of Lagos was Mayorkun's identity. In fact, saying '..of Lagos' in a random conversation might get you the question, 'Are you talking about Mayorkun?' It became ownership, a power of expression and brand identity. Mayorkun even held a second Mayor of Lagos concert n December 2018 and it was also successful.

Mayor of Lagos became like a brand identity like OBO for Davido, Starboy for Wizkid - or The Weeknd (oops) - Mummy Jam Jam for Tiwa Savage and OLIC for Olamide. So when Mayorkun started bending genres for his artistic pleasure in 2020, nobody was surprised when a song 'Geng' started with the furtive proclamation, 'Of Lagos.'

It resonated with the power of ownership and confidence - Mayorkun was basically saying, 'It's mine like Peruzzi is always looooing...' Then, he released a song titled, 'Of Lagos' which was basically eccentric musicality and troublesome beauty from the owner of the title. You can tell by now that the song is fire. If you can't, shalla to you like 'Orente.'

'Of Lagos' dropped on April 12, 2020 and it came in form of a 'call and response.' To every 'Of Lagos' that landed like Thor's hammer, there was an expression before it.

Zlatan - Of LayLay
On April 14, 2020, Nigerian rapper, Zlatan, Rahman Jago and Jamo Pyper got under Zlatan's Zanku Records umbrella to release their infectious dedication to Lagos titled, 'Of Lay Lay.' Like Mayorkun's 'Of Lagos,' it was also a call and response.

But if Mayorkun's 'Of Lagos' was a tale of call and response that borders of self-adulation, Zlatan and his geng turned their own affair into the final part of a Yinka Ayefele tungba song - they hailed Lagos socialites and phenomena. Olamide, Davido, Poco Lee and more got shout-outs.

I'm sure we've all been thinking about how curious it is that Zlatan and his guys dropped a song with a title that's of known association with the identity of another artist, who was also set to drop a song of a similar title. Nonetheless, that doesn't matter.

What matters is that both songs are both passive odes to the city of Lagos, its many exciting parts and how all the artists involved in this discourse associate with the city.

Asides that, both are good songs with uniquely attractive features that do not overlap. However, we are never going to take out the part of people's questions as regards Mayorkun's 'title' getting used at a curious time.

Zlatan's 'Of Lay Lay' might be the better song, but Mayorkun's 'Of Lagos' is like a man for all seasons.

BBNaija's Khafi reveals she rejected N8M deal from skin whitening brand

Posted: 13 May 2020 03:00 AM PDT

According to the reality TV star, the reason she declined the offer was because of her personal belief.

Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Khafi Kareem says she once turned down a brand deal offer from a skin whitening company worth N8M.

The reality TV star made this known during an Instagram live chat with music mogul, Ubi Franklin.

According to her, the reason she decided to turn down the offer was because of her personal belief.

"I have always tried to monetise myself in a way that is truly in line with my values. I have had to reject certain things. So, a certain company contacted me and this is actually, till today, the biggest offer I have received," she said.

"It was about N8 million and it wasn't that much that I would have to do, but it was for a skin bleaching brand. I was in the dilemma of taking the money but not having to do much and this is not something I believed in.

For Khafi, even though the money was attractive, she didn't want to get her hands soiled in something that would have repercussions.

"I could have just taken the money and not care about the repercussions. There are certain things that I would not be able to do in the future if I take certain deals that were not in relation to my brand.

"I had to turn down N8 million so that, by God's grace, I would make more in the future by being a person of my word," she added.

Khafi was one of the housemates in the fourth season of the reality TV show.

She, however, hit the limelight when her relationship with fellow housemate Gedoni became one of the most talked-about during the show.

Rejoice Abutsa's 'CapTiv Dream' is an animated tribute to the missing Chibok girls

Posted: 13 May 2020 02:00 AM PDT

Abutsa's 'CapTiv Dream' is both thought provoking and timely in its ploy to ignite new conversations surrounding the missing Chibok girls.

With the novel pandemic currently holding sway, conversations surrounding Nigeria's April 2014 Chibok tragedy has unfortunately taken second place but not for long.

Through film, Nigerian creatives are reigniting talks that must be had especially around securing the freedom of 112 girls still held in captivity. One of such creatives is fast-rising filmmaker, Rejoice Abutsa whose latest animated tribute seeks to reignite conversations surrounding the missing girls.

'CapTiv Dream' is a must watch for how it tackles its subject. The poetic monologue is a gripping reminder of hopes and dreams cut short by the dreaded Boko Haram terrorists. It forces its audience to pause from their daily lives and reflect on the harsh realities of schoolgirls forced to bury their dreams, of mothers seeking justice to no avail and what this means for the future of Nigeria.
