Federal Housing Finance Agency: Examiner Job Opening

Are you interested in working in the financial services industry where you will have the opportunity to work in secondary mortgage markets and perform complex data analysis?

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) is a key player in the current and future U.S. housing market.FHFA has openings for entry-level examiners in their Division of Enterprise Regulation, which is responsible for the supervision of the Enterprises – Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac – to ensure their safe and sound operation.

As an entry-level examiner you will be involved in developmental activities in order to understand financial services, housing finance, and primary and secondary mortgage market issues, including understanding observed trends and developments. Under the supervision of a Supervisory Examiner, you will participate in the planning and conducting of examinations and assigned progressively greater responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements:

Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Major study in accounting, business administration, commercial or banking law, economics, finance, marketing or other fields related to the position.

Starting salary is dependent upon education and experience. Listed below is the starting salary for positions in the Washington, DC area.

EL-05 $42,144 - Undergraduate EL-07 $60,644 - Graduate

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
US Citizenship.
Selectee will be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

Department of Agriculture: Agricultural Economist Job for Recent ECON graduates

Duties: 


Employee will independently collect, review, evaluate and analyze foreign economic data and market information on the supply, demand, trade and prices of specified agricultural commodities as they impact U.S. export prospects.


Responsibilities:


The duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Applies economic techniques and principles in the analysis of factors and conditions impacting the competitive posture of the U.S. agricultural industry in the global environment.
  • Assists in the assessment, collection, and analysis of current and historical trends of economic data, formulating conclusions and preparing reports.
  • Provides analyses of world-wide supply, trade, marketing and consumption of agricultural commodities and products with emphasis on their impact directly or indirectly on U.S. exports.
  • Supports the work of the agency to resolve routine problems and provide quality customer service and advice on a regular basis.
  • Represents the agency at meetings with other agencies, participating in educational seminars and consulting with staff of domestic and foreign industry and trade associations.

  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be Selective Service registered or exempt
  • Satisfactory Background investigation and/or fingerprint check
  • Successful completion of one-year trial period

International economists provide economic analysis and evaluation of trade policies and practices affecting the U.S. agricultural industry, and are responsible for planning and coordinating policies and positions on highly complex trade issues.

Responsibilities:

The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity.

The duties may include, but are not limited to:
  • Assists in the assessment, research, collection, and analysis of current and historical trends of economic data, formulating conclusions and preparing reports.
  • Prepares tables, charts, graphs or maps to better illustrate and support analytical conclusions.
  • Applies knowledge of economic techniques and principles by using mathematical and/or econometric models, statistical techniques and software.
  • Aids in the preparation of complex analytical material in connection with U.S. participation in international conferences and negotiations.
  • Conducts foreign market/policy studies and analyses of world-wide supply, trade, marketing and consumption of agricultural commodities and products.
