Anthony Joshua & Tyson Fury Signs Deal for 2 Historic Fights

Posted: 12 Jun 2020 12:00 AM PDT

British world heavyweight champions Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury have agreed to a two-fight deal, says promoter Eddie Hearn.

Talks over a historic bout for the undisputed title began in early May.

Joshua, 30, holds the WBA, IBF and WBO belts while 31-year-old Fury is the WBC champion.

"It's fair to say [Joshua and Fury] are in agreement regarding the financial terms," Hearn, who is Joshua's promoter, told Sky Sports News.

"We're in a good place. It's fair to say that, in principle, both guys have agreed to that fight. Two fights."

Fury expressed his delight at the news in a social media post. The Manchester-born boxer said he would fight Joshua in 2021, but would first have to overcome the "hurdle in the road" Deontay Wilder, in a third meeting. Fury is contracted to fight the American, from whom he won the WBC title in February.

Joshua, who reclaimed his world titles in December, has to face his mandatory challenger, Bulgaria's Kubrat Pulev, when the sport fully resumes after the coronavirus shutdown.

Hearn added: "There is still a lot to overcome. We are looking at venues and dates.

"We've been talking to [Fury's management team] MTK, giving them the assurances from Joshua's side that all the details on the structure of the deal is approved from our side. And it is from Fury's side, as well."

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Fury's promoter, Frank Warren, said: "The only way it could not happen is if one of the guys gets beat."

He added: "Every one wants it to happen. For me this will be the biggest sporting event in this country with these fighters – four belts on the line, two Brits fighting for the world title, both champions. This is just mega. I think it'll be the biggest sporting event in this country since England won the World Cup in '66.

"Fury is really happy… it's something he wants, something he's wanted for a long, long time.

"I think it's a great fight for both of them and for fans in this country and round the world.

"It's not going to get any more competitive than this."

Thelma and Seyi bury the hatchet on BBNaija Pepper Dem Reunion Day-5

Posted: 11 Jun 2020 06:00 AM PDT

Day five hosted the Pepper Dem housemates notorious for tattling and Ebuka had receipts!

In case you missed day five of Big Brother Naija's PepperDem reunion show, here are the highlights.

In attendance were former housemates Tacha, Mercy, Thelma, Seyi, Frodd, Diane, Ike and Jackye. Check out the episode's highlight:

The Tacha, Ike and Mercy love-hate triangle
Mercy and Tacha's no love lost relationship made for some good TV time on the the reunion show's fifth episode. Mercy had a few airs to get off her chest regarding Tacha and Ike's social media relationship which she admitted gave her some 'disrespectful' vibes.

Ike's reaction came as a speech about how her fans overplay his relationship with Tacha. In his opinion, it is simply a matter of perception as his romantic relationship with Mercy is important to him.

Tacha on the other hand, politely turned down an opportunity to clear the air.

Jackye's Day of Reckoning
In the previous episode, Jackye accused UK based housemate, Khafi, of luring her into tittle-tattling about other housemates. Her point of call was the one time they spoke about Mercy's body job. Turned out Ebuka had receipts!

The show host played back the notorious 'body-job' moment between Jackye and Khafi proving Jackye instigated the conversation about Mercy's body. With no other defense to pull up, Jackye admitted to being a gossip even if it was "just to make everybody feel better".

Seyi reverses his 'destiny to grave' curse
Thelma also had a huge grief to get off her chest. The former housemate recalled how Seyi had still not apologized for his not so empathetic and spiteful reaction to a minor issue they had in Big Brother's house where Seyi made an impassioned comment about how Thelma's success had been buried with her murdered brother.

In between Thelma's moment of truth, Mercy interjected to defend Seyi's behaviour by claiming he was under the influence of some alcohol.

After an unsolicited speech about taking responsibility for one's actions and drawing at straws while trying to cite the one time he 'technically' apologized, Seyi stepped down from his speeding horse, fixed his imaginary lapel and asked for forgiveness. Thelma shed a few tears while sharing how her brother was murdered a night to his wedding and how sensitive the matter is to her and her family.

The show ended right after with a promise of more intense drama from the housemates.

[EP Review]: On 'Gemini,' DNA makes a commendable play for growth but fall short

Posted: 11 Jun 2020 05:30 AM PDT

At some point, it was DNA Twins. Now, it is DNA. After releasing a handful of singles, they're dipping their toes into the pool of bodies of work with this four-track EP titled, 'Gemini.'

Asides 'Wase,' all songs on this EP lack shock value.

At the heart of the EP is the soul of lamba in sound, song titles and even lyrical delivery. Three songs on Gemini EP have onomatopoetic titles and the other one follows the enigma of the Monalisa. As a twin-combo of Blair and Clint with Afro-boy band looks and appeal, their predominant fan base will probably be women between 14 and 25.

On Gemini, they deliver tunes tailored to that market with dreamy pop songs, albeit with the grown man tendencies of onomatopoetic titles and subtle odes to sex. This might be MAVIN trying to help them grow through the music and develop an appeal that transcends their fan base of predominantly young women.

The opening track, 'Arabanko' is produced by Caise Beatz, and built on dreamy, cloud legato strings.

DNA's lyrical approach is generic to scatterbrained as they seemingly go from trying to sway a drifting woman into coming back before delving into what sounds like 'rapey' lines at such trying times. They sing "Whether you like, whether you nor like, I must enjoy..." before, "How you wan make e be now?" Which energy is it?

In the end, 'Arabanko' has no meaning, but the hook is alluring. 'Kayama' is a more laidback R&B-pop song about a woman named Kayama. This double act try to break Kayama out of her comfort state. The aim is to love her... presumably. 'Monalisa' is built on mid-2000s Ghanaian Afro-pop of the VIP era.

Apparently, Monalisa is a thief but this duo still want to love her - that's interesting an cute. 'Wase' is the best song on this app with its semblance of Afro-swing.

Final Thoughts

Asides 'Wase,' all songs on this EP lack shock value. They're also drenched in worrying levels of recurrent themes - there's more to life, music and even love-themed music than trying to constantly chase drifting or difficult women. DNA must try to expand their topical conversations.

But you see 'Wase,' that's a good song.

Ghanian actress, Juliet Ibrahim says 'half cast' is a derogatory term to describe her

Actress Juliet Ibrahim was born in Liberia to a Lebanese father and a Liberian mother making her mixed raced, which people also called half-cast.

There have been some conversations about how offensive the word is and Ibrahim shone more light on the issue with a long Instagram post.

The actress talked about the experience with colourism while talking about racism which has been a dominant conversation in recent weeks.

"I had a random conversation the other day with someone and it was appalling when he mentioned passively to me that he doesn't see me as a #Blackwoman! He argued, you are not "black enough" your skin isn't dark enough, your hair not kinky enough. And thus my siblings and I do not "count" as Black," she wrote.

When I'm abroad amongst the whites, I am classified and recognized as a black woman, however, right amongst us Africans I'll be referred to as a Half-Caste! This is the most derogatory term to describe a person of mixed race or mixed ethnicity. We are referred to as mixed race or multi-racial! Mixed race people are no less black than their dark-skinned counterparts. So, let's all say NO to RACISM, TRIBALISM, COLORISM and SEGREGATION. Let's teach and train our children to grow up and accept people for who they are and not by the color of their skin.

Former Colleague claims George Floyd & his Killer Derek Chauvin once had a clash in former working place 'Night Club'

Posted: 11 Jun 2020 04:30 AM PDT

Former Colleague claims George Floyd & his Killer Derek Chauvin once had a clash in former working place 'Night Club'.

A former colleague claims George Floyd and "killer" cop Derek Chauvin knew each other and clashed while working at a nightclub together.

David Pinney, who worked with both men at El Nuevo Rodeo, told CBS News George Floyd and Derek Chauvin clashed while working security at the Minneapolis venue.

He said:

"They bumped heads.

"It has a lot to do with Derek being extremely aggressive within the club with some of the patrons, which was an issue."

Floyd worked as a security guard inside the club while Chauvin sat in his patrol car, while off-duty, outside the venue, it has been reported.

Maya Santamaria, the club's former owner, previously said the pair had worked on the same nights, but she was unsure if the two knew each other.

Santamarina told CBS News she thinks Chauvin "was afraid and intimidated" by black people.

She said Chauvin, who worked for her for 17 years, often lost his temper with patrons and would pepper spray them "even if I felt it was unwarranted."

Last month, she told KSTP-TV that he "had a real short fuse and he seemed afraid."

"When there was an altercation he always resorted to pulling out his mace and pepper-spraying everybody right away, even if I felt it was unwarranted," Santamaria added.

Derek Chauvin has been charged with second-degree murder after he knelt on George Floyd's neck during an arrest on May 25 till he died.

Video from the incident showed Floyd saying "I can't breathe" multiple times but Chauvin did not move his knee.

Floyd's death has sparked protests and unrest across the country as well as the world.

Often times, the cheapest deal isn't always the best. If it is too good to be true, you have to be very cautious.

Have you ever been to the popular computer village in Ikeja, Lagos State? It is another world of it's own.

While the big and small shops that sell computers, phones and accessories thrive genuinely, there are these boys who hibernate on the streets, hawking both used and new items from phones to what have you!

These boys are scammers, who will show you a very high end phone at a very cheap price, give you opportunity to test it with your SIM, and ones you agree to buy, the real phone will be switched to a dead one, well packaged to look real.

That was the story of this young man who bought iPhone 7 plus for N20,000 and discovered that what he paid for was an empty phone filled with fufu(cassava food). The fufu will be used to fill the empty phone, in order to give it weight.

Ronaldinho, who reportedly paid a £1.3million bond for himself and his brother to be released says he is 'very calm' and is doing 'anything to pass time in the most pleasant way possible'.

He told Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo: 'It has been sixty long days.'

Comparing his house arrest to those who have been isolating in their homes during lockdown because of the coronavirus pandemic, he said:

'People in their homes must imagine what it must be like not being able to do what you are used to.

'I think that is something that will remain with us all forever after living in this complicated experience.

'I hope that soon everything will return to normal, and we can return to our homes. Hopefully, everything will be as before.'

The Brazilian legend is staying in the four-star Hotel Palmaroga, which is one of a number of hotels owned by Barcelona.

Definitely, Barcelona and I are united forever. It will always be my second city,' he added.

Blessing Okoro – “Most Married Women Cheat On Their Husbands With Younger Boys”

Posted: 11 Jun 2020 02:00 AM PDT

Controversial blogger, Blessing Okoro has stated that 85% of married women cheat on their husbands with younger boys.

The blogger made this known as she spoke about the cause of married woman sleeping around with young boys.

Blessing in a recent video said the women cheat because of lack of satisfaction and communication.

She said;

"A lot of married woman are cheats. 85 percent of married woman sleep around"

It can be recalled that Blessing Okoro recently advised women to use a man as a ladder which they will climb to their destination.

She Said;

"I'm gonna ask you again. S3x is something everybody can give. 16-year olds, 15-year olds, 14-year olds, under-aged children these days can give s3x.

What can you give apart from s3x? Ask yourself that question as a woman. What is that thing I can give to people apart from sex? Most of you don't think, most of you don't reason, most of you don't have a subconscious. Find out that thing you can give to people apart from sex.

As a woman, men are the ladders. A man is that ladder you are going to use to climb to your destination. Some of you will climb with the ladder. Some of you will stay with the ladder. Some of you will let the ladder fall on top of your head. But the smart women will climb with the ladder."
