Reno Omokri counsels Women says 'Don’t gauge who to marry based on the Car a Man drives'

Spokesperson to former Nigerian president and writer, Reno Omokri, has maintained his relevance on social media by always wading into issues that concern the society as well as sharing his sometimes controversial opinions on topics.

Reno Omokri often takes to his Twitter page to dish out advice to his followers. The former spokesperson recently tweeted that women should not marry based on the car the man drives. He added that not all man with a car is successful.

"Dear women,

Not all birds with feathers fly. A chicken has feathers, but can't fly the skies like Eagles. Similarly, not every man with a car is a success. Dont gauge who to marry based on the car the man drives. Base it on what drives the man", he tweeted.

Ike reveals Mercy Eke collects N100,000 to fix her nails on BBNaija Reunion Show

BBNaija couple Mercy and Ike recently made a revelation on the reunion show

Mercy revealed this during the BBNaija reunion show. According to her, despite the huge amount of money that comes into her account through the endorsements that she has, she still collects money from Ike. In the video circulating the internet, one could see Mercy raising her fingers to emphasize what she was saying.

"With whatever I was getting, I still let him pay for my nails," Mercy said.


While she was speaking, Ike confirmed her statement. According to him, the Pepper Dem winner collects as much as N60k, and N100k from him just to fix her nails.

He noted that he often wonders what sort of nails she wants to do that is so expensive.


"She doesn't collect N15k or N30k, she tells me N60k, N100k for nails. Which nails is N100k?" Ike says as other housemates laughed at the couple.

On some occasions, Ike has had to defend his girlfriend Mercy during some episodes of the reunion show.

This is coming after her bestie, Bobrisky took to his Instagram page to ask ladies if they weren't tired of a certain sex position known as "Missionary".

Reacting to the post, Tonto took to the comment section to ask if Bobrisky was referring to her and she hinted that her favorite style is "Missionary".

Ike Onyema says “Life before BBNaija was better”

Ex-BBNaija housemate, Ike has said he preferred his life before the BBNaija reality show in 2019.

Ike said this on Wednesday night after BBNaija host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu asked if he preferred his life before he entered the reality show.

According to him, he is indifferent about his life at the moment despite the fame.

He mentioned that the only thing he prefers about his reality after BBNaija is his relationship with Mercy Eke.


Ike said: "I drove a better car in America, had more money so I'm indifferent about this life.

"Life before BBNaija was better, I only prefer my life now because of my relationship with Mercy.

"Mercy has a really good heart. After the house, she talked to me about being hopeful and that really raised my spirit."


Recall that Mercy and Ike started their relationship in the BBNaija 'Pepper Dem' reality show in 2019.

They have since become lovebirds and maintained their relationship.

Yul Edochie celebrates Olu Jacobs, says he is one of Africa’s greatest actors

Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, recently took to social media to celebrate his senior colleague, Olu Jacobs.

In a lengthy note penned down on Instagram, Yul revealed that he decided to celebrate the veteran actor for impacting his career in its early days.

Yul said that Olu Jacobs was very accommodating and nice and that he spent a lot of time trying to study his acting style.

Yul continued that Olu Jacobs is undoubtedly one of the greatest actors Africa has produced.

He wrote: "Just tell me I'll be on set with him and I'll be willing to do anything to make it happen, even if it means slashing my fee. The Legend, the great Uncle Olu Jacobs. @_olujacobs

Today is not his birthday but I choose to celebrate him for his impact in my career. In the early days of my career I spent a lot of time studying his acting style. It was always an honour to be on set with him. I played his son a couple of times and I learnt so much from him. So accommodating, so nice. He remains one of the greatest actors Africa has produced.

Seyitan Babatayo formally files a criminal complaint of rape against music star D’banj

The woman Seyitan Babatayo who accused D'banj of raping her has formally filed a criminal complaint against the Nigerian music star.

Babatayo doubles down on her rape accusation against D'banj and also confirms that she was indeed arrested.

Ms Babatayo on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, first accused D'banj of raping her in a hotel room in December 2018. The accusation has been followed by a series of events which was confirmed in a statement by the accuser.

D'banj had come out to deny the accusation and demanded apology and N100m in damages while there were reports that he used the police to try and bully Babatayo.

Although she had come out to deny the accusation and being arrested, Babatayo in a statement confirmed by Stand To End Rape (S.T.E.R) a non-profit geared towards helping rape victims, doubles down on her rape accusation against D'banj and also confirms that she was indeed arrested on Tuesday, June 16 and taken to the IGP IRT office in Harold Shodipo, Ikeja where she was detained, forced to delete her accusation and made to deny being arrested.
"Yesterday, Monday the 22nd of June, 2020, I Ms Seyitan Babatayo, formally made a criminal complaint of rape by Mr Oladape Daniel Oyebanjo popularly known as a D'banj at the Gender Desk of the Nigeria Police Force Lagos Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja Lagos," the first part of the statement reads.

Babatayo also reveals that she had tried to give a detailed account of her experience at Bar Beach Police Station in Victoria Island, Lagos on Saturday, June 6. "That attempt was thwarted by an officer of the law at the said Police barracks," she says in the statement.

Arrested

She also reveals that she was on Tuesday, June 16 arrested by four armed police officers who gained entry into her home under the pretext of delivery agents.

"I spent almost 48 hours at the Police Station, without being charged for a single crime," she says in the statement.

"When I requested to know the reason for the police detention, the police refused to answer, but they continued to treat me like a criminal."

After spending a night in detention, Babatayo reveals that she was released the following day and was made to sign a gag order by the police and D'banj's team. She also says she was made to only make social media posts that were approved by D'banj's team

"18th June 2020: I was isolated from my family, coerced, pressured and intimidated in person by D'Banj and his team to retract all statements and to announce that my testimony was a publicity stunt," she also says.

Friends and activists had to track her to the location with the help of satellite mapping and she was immediately removed from the environment, according to the statement.

Babatayo also reveals that she has been harassed since then by D'banj through his team, who continue to boast that the singer 'can buy off anyone within the justice system in Lagos'.

Babatayo also says she has enjoyed the support of well-meaning Nigerians including Mrs Akeredolu (SAN), former Attorney General of Ogun State who has put her full weight behind her and will be providing legal support.

She also expresses appreciation to the Attorney General of Lagos State for writing to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to investigate the matter and also the Inspector General of Police for instructing that the matter be investigated immediately.

5 things D'banj's rape accuser, Seyitan Babatayo said in her latest statement concerning the rape allegation against singer

Seyitan Babatayo, the young lady who has been in the news after she accused music star D'banj of raping her, has released a statement.

Seyitan Babatayo has released a press release to address the events that followed her accusation.

In her statement released in the early hours of Tuesday, June 24, 2020, Babatayo gave a detailed narration of what transpired after she accused D'banj of rape and her next course of action.

Here are five things she said in her statement.

1. Criminal complaint of rape against D'banj
In a press statement released by Babatayo, she revealed that she has filed a complaint at the Gender Desk of the Nigeria, Police Force Lagos Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja Lagos.

According to her, this decision was made after several failed attempts to give her own side of the story which was ''thwarted by a certain police officer at the police barracks.''

2. She was arrested in a commando-style
According to the young lady, she was arrested by 4 police officers who arrived at her home pretending to be delivery agents.

She was then taken to the IGP IRT office in Harold Shodipo, Ikeja where she was detained alongside criminals and her phone seized. She said while in detention, she had little access to a lawyer.

''I spent almost 48 hours at the police station, without being charged for a single crime. When I asked what was the reason for the detention, the police refused to answer but continued to treat me like a criminal," she wrote.

She also said clarified that her mother was not arrested following contrary reports.

"My mother was not arrested. She remained supportive and engaged all her efforts like every good mother, alongside various other interventions to secure my release," she wrote.

3. She was held captive by Dbanj
One major part of her statement indicates that she was isolated by the music star and his team at an undisclosed location.

According to her, it took the intervention of the director of Stand to End Rape Initiative and other activists who were able to get her out of the location where she was held. This was only possible with the use of a satellite mapping.

4. Dbanj forced her to retract rape allegation
According to Babatayo's statement, the music star forced her to retract the rape allegations.

"I was isolated from my family, coerced, pressured, and intimated in person by Dbanj and his team to retract all statements and announce that my testimony was a publicity stunt," she said.

5. N1.6M raised and support from well-meaning Nigerians
Miss Babatayo went on to thank everyone who raised an alarm over her illegal detention on social media. She also revealed that the sum of N1.6m was raised to help with her legal fees and personal needs.

Babatayo also says she has enjoyed the support of well-meaning Nigerians including Mrs Akeredolu (SAN), former Attorney General of Ogun State who has put her full weight behind her and will be providing legal support.

She also expresses appreciation to the Attorney General of Lagos State for writing to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police to investigate the matter and also the Inspector General of Police for instructing that the matter be investigated immediately.

'She Is', one of Netflix's newest Nollywood acquisitions is currently in the news but not for its glowing reviews.

Justine Skye recently tweeted about the embarrassing blooper.

The 2019 romantic comedy starring Somkele Iyamah Idhalama has been called out by American singer, Justine Skye for an embarrassing blooper.

Skye took to Twitter on June 23 to question the photoshopping her face to a character featured in one of the movie's scenes.

"This is in a whole MOVIE!? Somebody photoshopped my face onto a photo in a movie!? MAKE IT MAKE SENSE", Skye tweeted.

In the infamous scene, Skye is seen in a framed photograph with star actor, Desmond Elliot who plays a widowed doctor.

Since its June 16 Netflix premiere, the movie has received impressive reviews and a number one spot on the US streaming platform. It is however unclear how the latest call out will affect the film's reception. Hermanes Media, the film's production company, are yet to address the latest accusation.

An interesting bit to know about the Nollywood romantic comedy is that it is singers, Omawumi and Waje's film production debut.

Rema graces a billboard in Los Angeles, US

Last week, it was announced that streaming behemoth, Apple Music had named Rema to its 'Up Next' feature and for that, Rema got to chat with America media personality, Ebro Darden.

Actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo reacts to comments about his #Don'tLeaveMe challenge, says he's only acting

Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo has reacted to the comments on social media about his recent video based on the #Don'tLeaveMe challenge.

The movie star says he wonders why some people are only out to distract him on social media.

The movie star in a video shared via his Instagram stories on Tuesday, June 23, 2020, slammed those who can't stop talking about his past roles in Nollywood movies.

Kanayo's statement came after he had taken part in the trending #Don'tLeaveMe challenge.

The challenge involves playing around with words and a hypeman to help make it fun. However, the actor took part without a hypeman in his first try at the challenge.

This was followed by reactions by many people who joked about the actor using his hypeman for ritual purposes.

This however did not go down well with the actor as he called out those who wanted to take the fun out of the challenge.

"We are doing something about is Don't Leave Me challenge, all you're talking about is rituals. Go and do rituals with yourself. I'm playing a role. I'm not angry but the fact is that there are some people who don't contribute anything to followership," he said.
"All they want to do is distract you and when I go on their page, I see that they have only two people following them, meanwhile, I'm following about 1,000 people, so, why should I worry about you? But I don't want you to distract others, let's talk real."

Court orders reopening of Jabi Lake mall after closure by government over lockdown violation

A Magistrate Court in the Federal Capital Territory has ordered the reopening of the Jabi Lake Mall, which was sealed 10 days ago for hosting a concert by the artiste, Naira Marley.

Recall that the June 13 drive-in concert hosted by Naira Marley in the mall was greeted by widespread condemnation on social media after photos and videos from the concert showed the guests did not observe social distancing and other COVID-19 precautionary guidelines. The mall was subsequently shut down and the airline that flew Naira Marley to Abuja was also penalized.

Giving the order for the opening of the mall today Tuesday June 23, Magistrate Idayat Akanni said the decision to reopen the mall was a sequel to the application filed by the defence counsel, Nnamdi Ekwem, who asked the court to unseal the business premises.

She said her judgment was based on the overall interest of those, who would be affected adversely by the closure, noting that the mall had over 100 employees and other tenants, who are not co-offenders in the matter.

"The order is also based on compassion, especially, in consideration of the economic losses that will be suffered by those affected, coupled with the impact of COVID-19 on the people."

She ordered the management of the mall to publish an apology to the government in national dailies for violating the COVID-19 guidelines.

Tuface Idibia is the new Regional Goodwill Ambassador of UNHRC

The United Nations has appointed Nigerian singer, Innocent "Tuface" Idibia as its Refugees Goodwill Ambassador.

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) announced this on Tuesday via Instagram.


Tuface also made the announcement via his Instagram account, writing: "I am honored and humbled by my new appointment as a regional goodwill ambassador of UNHCR.

"Thanks for the recognition, this will no doubt deepen my commitment to supporting the effort of UNHCR personnel and volunteers who are on ground every day, working hard to provide support and hope to millions of forcefully displaced persons across the world.

"Blessings one and all."

Etinosa calls out women who cut off fathers from their kids’ lives

Nollywood star Etinosa has made a case against women who cut off their partners in the lives of their children and then refer to themselves as single mothers.

The actress took to her Instagram stories to air her thoughts about this.

Etinosa stated that a woman who intentionally cut off her partner because she is hurt and then also cut him off from the lives of her children has no right to be called a single mother.

The screen goddess said that such a woman should not join the single mothers who were truly abandoned to cry wolf.
